T-Mobile’s Father Day Promotion Running On June 15th and 16th?

I’m running on limited info here on the actual sale itself, but word has it that another T-Mobile’s Father’s Day sale is a “go” for June 15th and 16th. We’re being told it could resemble this years Valentines Sale which would like be another “free phone deal” for both Value and Classic plan existing and new customers. Still, I urge caution until we can confirm what T-Mobile has in store for those two days. We are being told that T-Mobile is calling for another set of “All Hands Days” during that weekend to make sure they can handle any jumps in traffic.

In any case, I’d pencil in that weekend as a potential Father’s Day sale and hopefully it won’t take long before we can get a better idea of what exactly T-Mobile has in store.

But.. fathers day is JUNE 17.  Which just happens to be my earliest full upgrade date.  So I sure hope they are NOT just running the 15th and 16th

    • http://twitter.com/MattLaney_ Matt Laney

Call customer service.  I called them on the bogo last month and they moved up my full upgrade day 3 months.  They are trying so hard to keep all their customers happy they will probably work with you.

      • davedsone

Sweet.  thanks for the info.  I love Tmo, so far they have been really decent to work with.  Once they do the refarm I’ll love them as I may finally get off Edge at home!

        • steven

          switch to value

    • RAYCALLES

You can switch to the cheaper Value plan after 18 months in contract with no migration fees.
And the get a phone on that day.

    • buttman

If you talk to a friendly customer service associate, they won’t mind upgrading a day or two early. I saw that quite a bit during my wireless career as a sales associate.

  • Deadeye37

They’re doing this to early!  They need to move fathers day to the 24th this year so that they can do the fathers day sale and include the GSIII.

Or they could just move the release date for the GSIII to tomorrow…

Both ways, they should include the GSIII in the sale.  To bad that its not possible :(

    • Get_at_Me

the timing of the gs3 launch and this sale is no accident…they arent going to give the latest and greatest away for free….altho the one s was included in the recent bogo deal

      • Deadeye37

I know.  A man can always dream, though…

      • http://tmonews.com David

Seriously, you guys are always looking for a conspiracy, nobody is selling the Galaxy S II before the 21st, I’m betting that has nothing to do with fathers Day.

        • Get_at_Me

Youre prob right david. With such a high profile launch tho, u have to wonder. Correct me if im wrong but att hasnt confirmed a release date yet. Did tmo have the option to lauch the phone a week sooner? Prob not, but who knows. Tmo always runs deals on holidays. This holiday happens to fall 5 days sooner than the launch of the gs3…

        • http://tmonews.com David

I’m still looking at this as though all the carriers must have have agreed to a date post the 21st, especially as Verizon and US Cellular don’t look to actually carry the phone until July.

        • Get_at_Me

Just found out that att announced preorder and exclusive color for gs3..no release date tho. I wonder why vzw would wait til july to launch the phone. Makes sense for att and sprint bc of the delayed one x launches.

        • rschauby

Pretty sure everyone is selling the GS2 before the 21st.

  • http://twitter.com/BadassNoor Noor Mahmoud

Kind of need it to be pushed a week for the GS3…

    • http://tmonews.com David

Sorry, Hallmark isn’t concerned with the latest smartphones!

      • Deadeye37

They should be…..*Serous look & whispers* they should be….

  • Get_at_Me

fathers day weekend sale….dont know details at this time.  ive been told it will only run the 15th and 16th…not sure why it wouldnt run thru the whole weekend including fathers day….im hoping its an all phones free sale and not bogo like the last deal.

    • Me

With the increased traffic that these specials usually bring to the stores the company does not want the secrete shop program to suffer. There are no secret shops on Fridays our Saturdays.

      • tmorep

Unfortunately we have been shopped on a Friday twice now. I know in the PDF it says that they can’t come on those days, they don’t really seem to adhere to the rules.

  • BRUCELEE

There are not free phones on value plans….it would most likely be a $0 down after mail-in rebate and the price of the 20 month payment would go from 15 up to 20. Classic plans are better because of the free phone, which makes up for the price difference in the long-run compared to the value plan

    • Guest

When you have multiple lines, it does make a difference.

  • tommy

I am a Value plan customer, I tried to get the free phone it did not exist. Too much obfuscation around these marketing gimmicks.  That said it would be nice if the GS3 was discounted right?

    • Illiterate

Wow….”Obfuscation”…..you must have been waiting a lifetime to crowbar into your comments such an obscure word.  Good Job!!!!

    • Guest

You are also the idiot customer who wants to save money on the plan and get stuck paying full price.  If you switch to the classic plan and get a free phone its the same exact deal as value plus phone payments.

      • http://www.labyrinthrat.com/ Joe Iriarte

Not for a 10+ year customer like me. The value plan rates that are advertised if you get your own phone are what I’m already paying, having been receiving free phones every couple of years. So there is absolutely no incentive for me to buy my own phone. A sale like this is exactly what I’ve been hoping for.

  • Marc Klein

See it would have made sense for T MO to have the GSIII out in time for Father’s Day. It baffles me why they chose not to take advantage of that.

    • http://tmonews.com David

Considering that nobody has the phone out before Father’s Day, I’m assuming there is a reason for it.

      • Dumbazz

Sorry my brain hurts reading some of the stupidity on your forum. Do you REALLY need to explain that to this guy?

        • None

I was thinking the saaaaame thing.

        • Marc Klein

Don’t the carriers get ti choose when to release the phone?

        • Sarcasm101

Yes the carriers Tell Apple, for example, to have the iPhone 7 ready by month end. The carriers do not take into consideration any design, engineering, or software development requirements – they just tell the companies that make phones when to innovate, and companies like Apple, Samsung, and HTC just wave their magic wands and poof – the phone appears. That’s how it works – except for RIM, RIM works on its own schedule.

        • Marc Klein

RIM is pretty much at death’s door.

  • Me-Not-You

What I want for Father’s Day is for TMo to relase the blasted pricing info for the SGS3!!!!

  • Me-Not-You

What I want for Father’s Day is for TMo to relase the blasted pricing info for the SGS3!!!!

    • Jose Hernandez

Well, Verizon is not taking per-orders for the phones, the 16g version is $599.99 full price and the 32g version is $649.99. AT&T is selling the 16g phones for $549.99 full price. T-Mobile should be close to the AT&T number for the 16g version, maybe $600.00 for the 32gb?

  • http://www.unscripted360.com/ Deacon

if the Galaxy S III is a part of the deal somehow even though it won’t have been released, i’d take advantage for my dad.

  • Scapegrace

Sure, you’ll just have to upgrade to unlimited talk and text and 5gb data and then wait 6 months for your mail in rebate.  I’ll keep my grandfathered plan, thanks.

    • Dumbazz

What a joke you are. I bet like at most. 00002% of people have to wait 6 months to get their rebate.

      • Scapegrace

I was exaggerating the rebate time.  Everything else I wasn’t.  The free phone doesn’t make the increase in price per month on an upgraded unlimited plan vs. my current plan worth it.

    • Marinosjunk

I did this plan deal and they rejected my rebate because I wasn’t on the unlimited plan (and after confirming that my plan would qualify for rebate with SEVERAL reps beforehand). I just upgraded to to unlimited for one month, got my rebates in 3-4 weeks, and switched back. Only downside was that I had to renew the 2 year commitment, so now mine will be about 26 months. Still well worth it for a free 4G smartphone.

      • Mohamed Helmy

When you upgrade man it goes 24 months from that date, it will never go longer than 24 months. Not 26

  • http://twitter.com/miharkula miharkula

That valentine’s deal was a joke. They refused to give me my rebate on any of the phones I got and ended up being stuck with paying for the next 2 years.

    • Stickit2theman

Bummer for you.  I got the Galaxy SII for free….via $250 rebate Visa card.  At first, they denied my $250 rebate submission, stating that I didn’t qualify.  I complained to the rebate center, and they said the could not give me the Rebate Visa card, but would credit my account $250….which they did.  Two weeks later, I received a $250 Rebate Visa Card……love it when inter-company departments don’t properly communicate!!!!!!

    • Get_at_Me

why were u denied ur rebates??? did they give u a reason???

    • Dumbazz

      BULL$HIT!

  • The Dude

They will probably offer “free” phones to dump their inventory prior to the S3′s arrival.

  • http://twitter.com/amckinnis Arnie McKinnis

Off topic, but TMO is seriously looking like a third-rate company….realize there is a problem with frequency, but really, Cricket and now Virgin Mobile are getting the iPhone?  Personally, I don’t want an iPhone, but my kids do and they make up the majority of family plan (75% percent to be exact – my wife went to Verizon to get the iPhone already).

    • randomnerd_number38

I was just coming to this site to post about that. Seriously, Virgin Mobile getting the iPhone? That feels like the biggest slap in the face yet. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an Android guy all the way. But there’s simply no denying that a large portion of consumers see the iPhone as “the” top-end phone. We’re the only nationwide carrier that doesn’t offer it, and now even friggin MVNO’s are getting it. PREPAID MVNO’S. FFFUUUUUUUUUUU I’m so pissed right now.

      • MBA5

Its also a BRAND PERCEPTION THING!!! Avg consumers –not u techsavvy folks — see everyone exc Tmo getting iphone & wonder Whats Wrong With Tmo?….Also only major wo Lte till 2013 or later…often nit getting latest devices till months later if at all. IT AFFECTS HOW PEOPLE VIEW TMO & why thwyre in last place and keep losing customers in droves. Plus the emphasis on prepaid under the same brand weakens the postpaid. (Sprint uses Virgin;Boost). Its Biz101…And sorry, custserv has really declined too

        • http://twitter.com/sgleon99 FCNYC

i do not want to iphone on Tmo, cause it will cost Tmo a lot of money and they increase our rates, so please keep iphone off of tmo
plus i would not take to iphone over the Galaxy if it was free.

      • lnthai

Who cares if Virgin Mobile and Cricket are going to carry the iPhone. You’re still paying $400-500 for the device to use on their network. T-Mobile customers has been doing that for years.

        • Arnie McKinnis

I don’t disagree, in fact, you can buy one off the shelf and save versus the other national carriers – and IMO, that is what TMO should do market that fact.  From my rough calculations – a person could save about $20 to $40 per month versus AT&T or Verizon.  But most people are not that smart – and won’t take the time to do the evaluation.  And see the price of the phone as $200 vs $600, that’s gets in the way of making a realistic decision.

If you don’t like the company, just leave or call them to work it out.  I’m sure if you REALLY wanted to leave, you wouldn’t come here and talk bad about the company.

      • LEO

Some of us have been with Tmo a long time, want to stay & miss the company we first joined.

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/mrjlwilliams?feature=mhee mrjlwilliams (Click here)

I’ve been with T-Mobile since 1997, so I know where I will be. I’ve sat here through the good and the bad, so I’m not going anywhere.

      • Arnie McKinnis

First, I’m a long time customer (over 10 years) and second, I personally don’t want an iPhone – my kids do and to those that don’t have them – they “help” make lots of decisions for a family.  Third, I’m not talking bad about the company – just stating that the market perception is weakened when non-contract providers have the iPhone and TMO does not.

Also, IMO the standard deals created by TMO through their stores and websites are never as good as their reseller channel.

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/mrjlwilliams?feature=mhee mrjlwilliams (Click here)

…and fourth, calm down. No need for the tension, it’s okay. I understand you are not happy about the iphone, just buy it on Virgin Mobile. They will have the best pricing.

      • Arnie McKinnis

    • Get_at_Me

if it were that simple, tmo would’ve had the iphone ages ago…..do u think leadership of the company is plotting against its customers by withholding the iphone???  Maybe im ignorant but is the iphone really that great???  Is it really that special of a device that ppl feel the need to leave tmo for it???  David himself would probably agree that, with the existence of android devices, the iphone isnt in a league of its own anymore (android devices can do everything an iphone can).  For someone who may have used an iphone for awhile on ATT, then unlocked it for use on tmo…i could understand (bc thats what they’re used to), but for someone who is relatively new to the phone and doesn’t have a history with it, why jump ship for it????

      • LteIphoneSoon?

Cuz it works!!! And Apple provides Great Service…97% of people I know have & love it…And then you get a Mac or ipad, & all works seemlessly–even moreso with new MacOSX & ios.

        • Get_at_Me

My samsung galaxy s 2 works also….testimonials by ppl u know are fine too, but it still seems silly to me….

        • Tomnewtn

I agree about the customer service. Apple has been amazing, and I’ve used Macs since 84.

    • BM1

Sorry, but some T-Mobile customers such as myself aren’t concerned with the iPhone, especially if it comes with a mass of new users that bog down the network!  However, now with the lower-tiered cell phone providers offering the iPhone, it’s a no-brainer that eventually T-Mobile will be on board as well.

    • CM Punk

lmao, you can get hte exact same deal with T-Mobile (for less) right now.  Buy the iPhone unlocked from the Apple Store for the same price and throw it on the $50/month unlimited plan (vs. Cricket’s 55) and enjoy nationwide coverage.

Jeez, some people really need to do just a little bit of research

      • Zach Mauch

Of course you’d probably have to deal with only have 2G data speeds which with modern phones is really not a good option.

That said, I don’t want the iPhone to come to T-Mobile either.  I won’t ever use it and it will only contribute to network congestion.  That’s just my personal selfish opinion that will have no impact on reality :D

        • Tomnewtn

Mine works great on 2G. I have Android and Nokia 4 and 3g devices but use the iPhone daily. I enjoy using it very much.

        • Tomnewtn

and let me add that a TMobile technician working on the repeater next to my office confirmed they’re receiving the equipment later this year that will create hi speed data network that is iPhone compatible.

  • Wilma Flintstone

A week before the S3 release?  I don’t think so.  Also, all the NOTE fans, you may be quite upset to know that the Note 2 is coming out in October.  I’ll be fine with the Note 1 but that does suck that a better one is coming out 4 months AFTER Tmobile gets the first edition.  Ah well, I just need something to get rid of the HD2.

    • Get_at_Me

What happened to the July 11th release date for the TMO Note?

      • Wilma Flintstone

It’s still scheduled for July 11.  The October release is for the Note 2, the successor to the Note.

        • Jose Hernandez

What I would like to know is if T-Mobile will get the note in October or is they will get it some time later?

        • http://tmonews.com David

Didn’t we already say it’s currently rumored for July 11th?

    • bogartofelcajon

I agree about the week before the S3 release. I think this is the way t-mobile unloads its inventory. And regarding the Note 1 and 2. What’s new? TMO is always the carrier of the second place phone.

    • Kindredkian

I seriously doubt that the Note 2 will arrive in october of this year. Late Spring/Early Summer 2013 sounds more realistic. Even so that wouldn’t stop me from getting the Note on T-mo. I think Samsung might want to release the Note 2 in a similar fashion as the S3.

  • Aristroker

They wanna be value brand but then sales require most expensive unlimited 5gb plans which then turns pple off. Tmo offers 500min 2gb for 69.99. If I use data network for Sms, I get 450w rollover & 3gb from Att for same price & with Verizon promo, I get 4gb for that price!! So its not that much of a deal! And commercials comparing 3g iphone to 4g just insults peoples intelligence.

    • zeke

Don’t let the doorknob hit ya, where the good Lord split ya.

    • Jarrod

Last time I checked tmobile isn’t doing their best to force people off unlimited data plans and they arnt charging rediculous fees to upgrade to a new phone.

      • Renclothes

I was told by the manager of my local T-mo corporate store this week that any current customers wanting the Galaxy SIII or upcoming Note at the subsidized price will not be allowed to do so if they want to keep their grandfathered unlimited data plan. Sounds like trying to force people off unlimited plans to me.

        • http://profiles.google.com/situationalawareness Dan Lund

The only variable there is “subsidized”.  Sure, anyone can buy it.  The ones that want the 2 year plan get the subsidized phone otherwise they don’t.  The money is made from the profit over the 2 years, that’s why.

    • 3560freak

      AT&T = $39.99 – 450+ rollover, 3GB data – $30.00, Unl SMS – $20.00.  Total = $89.99, not $69.99 like you had posted above

      • Baseballstar9535

Hey said he was gonna send SMS over the data which means he has no need for the 20 dollar feature so his math is right and your comperhensation is off.

        • None

          Baaaaaym!!

    • Joeseph

      T-MO for Life!!!

    • Jose Hernandez

You do not get 450min with rollover and 3gb from AT&T for the same price if you text you have to add that as well for additional money. I have a value plan, love it. The best price for the service I need. I have two lines and to get the same service from AT&T I would need to pay over $200.00 a month. With T-Mobile I only pay $142.00. If you can get something better elsewhere, by all means go and do so. And stop complaining about it here.

    • Scapegrace

If you’re using data for text, why include texting in the T-Mobile price.  500 min 2gb NO text through T-mobile = $59.99.

      • Guest

        Correction: Value Plan Individual is 34.99 500min + 5.00 Unlim TXT + 10.00 2GB data = 49.99

    • Corey21

your incorrect about your pricing 500 minutes and 2gb is 59.99

  • Call me…maybe ??

If it is like the Valentines day sale,  Can you purchase with Value plan PLUS Data (to get deal) and then after rebate take off the Data service??  TMo rep told me Value plans made this possible, i.e. smartphones without Data service.

    • Lakershow36

No I’m s T Mo rep and it’s impossible to have a smart phone without data whether that’s with a value or classic plan

      • Bigpapa74

Incorrect Lakershow36. Value plans do not require data since the customer is paying full price for the phone.

        • Guest911

You might be right but when you call Tmo, they tell you what Lakershow said.

        • tommy

There are people who would want a smart phone without data, who would use it with Wifi when available, otherwise just talk (and text) on it. So are these people accommodated?

      • Guest

I am as well a T-Mobile Rep. You don’t have to add the data service if you don’t want to if you are on Value if you activate or upgrade. I’ve had the capability to do this for all of my customers. I just have them come back to my store and take care of it. But, in reality, what is the point of having a nice phone and not having full capability of it.? Wifi is nice, but you aren’t going to be as satisfied. PLUS it’s only $10.00 more a month if you compare it to classic at $20.00.

    • Guest

On the value plan, you do not have to have the data service. But, its only $10 additional a month and you get 2GB 4G Speeds then throttles down with no overage charges. (aka Unlimited but throttled after 2GB)

  • Jose Hernandez

     lmol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

     lmol

  • tmorep

My store recieved 45 galaxy blaze’s and 30 one S’ today. We typically only get 8-10 at a time, but we already had stock of 35ish each, which is plenty, so there is definitely a promo coming up next weekend.

  • JNo

TMO EXPERTS NEEDED:  I am on Unlimited Value — Talk + Text for about $98 for two lines out the door.  However, my wife lost her phone and I need to upgrade my BB 9780.  (1) Would this promotion, if structured like V-Day, work for us?  (2) If not, what’s the absolute cheapest way for us to get two new handsets and keep the same plan?

    • Corey21

if i say im a expert i’ll get ate up on here but i do the call center thing, you have to do your phone in installment payments on your bill, wait for the sale because value plan customers usually get their down payment for the device back on a mail in rebate card. good luck getting a 9780 stopped selling those a while ago.

    • Guest

Pretty much, if this promotion does happen and you are on the Value Plan, you lose your eligibility for an upgrade at the discounted price, but get the discounted Rate Plan which is the Value Plan. You purchase the phone at full retail price, but we let you put a down payment and  month to month payments on the phone for 20 months. That down payment that you put down on that promo day if it is going to happen, you get that down payment back as Mail In Rebate. So, when that down payment is returned to you, you are really paying less on the full retail price. For Example:

Galaxy S2 Full Price is 599.99
Make down payment of 199.99 then amt financed is 399.99
So, once received Mail In Rebate of 199.99
Therefore, Full Price on Galaxy S2 is really 399.99 after the rebate

      • JNo

Makes sense.  So, essentially, it’s the cheapest way to upgrade in the foreseeable future.

  • http://www.labyrinthrat.com/ Joe Iriarte

Awesome. I’ve been waiting for a sale like that. :)

  • EdwardO

well i mean this sounds great and all i juts hope i even get to QUALIFY for an upgrade. last time i had gotten a new phone was back in 2010 and i was going to upgrade this past may but then when i decided to change to their new value plan, they still guaranteed that i qualified for a new phone, they end up telling me that i couldn’t get a new phone!! i was so frustrated but then i just got off the phone with a tmobile rep today and they told me that they were going to do away with the “you must have x months with your plan” idea and that they were hopefully gonna do it based off the “you must have x months since your last phone upgrade” which is fine by me. i just hope that by some divine reason i can finally get a damn upgrade!

    • CM Punk

Value plan lets you do it whenever based on how much EIP you have available…

But, on a side note, it’s always been 22 months since your last upgrade…
