Great News!! It will be better than Galaxy Nexus….^-^
    I mean better function!!

    • Drepope100

I’m not gonna say all that………

      Galaxy Nexus & SGII Owner

  • http://www.facebook.com/MMontanez347 Michael Montanez

atleast samsung is getting better with their updates to previous devices….this is good news to all GS2 owners :)

    • Herb

This is good news for consumers wary of Samsung’s update history. This makes me feel more confident about purchasing an SIII

      • JBLmobileG1

Hopefully with Samsung being the #1 Android manufacturer they will look at that as an accomplishment and want to stay ahead by releasing the newest updates at a quicker pace than in the past. As for the carriers… if Tmobile wants to stay ahead with Android and their competitors…. they need to make sure the manufacturers are getting the updates ready quicker as well.

      • Mr. Dino

The delay wasn’t Samsungs fault, it was the us carriers . That’s why the international S2 received ICS a while back but +1 to Tmobile for being the first US carrier to send out ICS to the S2

  • vsukid

I will be happy when they officially announce SIII dates and prices

    • Mr. Dino

Correct me if i’m wrong but didn’t they say it was releasing in Canada and north America June 20??

      • http://tmonews.com David

Nothing was officially announced for the US.

  • Qbancelli

Too late. I’m not using a phone with a 800×480 screen res in mid 2012

  • http://www.mobilegametech.com/ Mobile Game Tech

Well it is about time. I can at least get some play time with it before the Galaxy S III release

  • watbetchh

I’m so glad T-Mobile is vocalizing updates and not acting as if they don’t exist.

  • JBLmobileG1

Hey David what’s with the GIANT Verizon add that pops up? I am surfing the Site on my lunch break using my Amaze and this HUGH add about Verizon pops up. Not only can I not close it but I can’t read any of the article. Thankfully I was able to back out then back in without it popping up again. I understand they help pay for your Site but please make them smaller if possible. For a minute there I felt like the add was the Site and the article was the pop up.

    • MarcusDW

Yeah it sux. Made me refresh to get rid of it.

  • Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird

A friend of mine got this update last week OTA. Maybe one of the sample updates they send out?

    • Dumbazz

Your friend didn’t get ICS OTA.
There was an update sent out last week but not ICS.

      • Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird

Well, it’s got a completely different UI now.

        • Don

          Lies

          Troll

        • fixxmyhead

ur friend got the LDE update which gives u a new lockscreen and some ics features its still gingerbread. IT IS NOT THE ICS UPDATE

        • http://twitter.com/LanhNguyen1 Lanh Nguyen

          Yep.  Lies.

        • Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird

        • anfrey

if what you say is true, what’s his new baseband version?

        • Ford_Thundercougarfalconbird

No idea, I don’t have her phone in front of me. It looked different when she showed me, but I didn’t examine it closely.

  • MarcusDW

Just as I said, early June info with a mid June release.

This is good news to hear on a Friday and I’m glad that I STILL haven’t put a ROM on this thing. Can’t wait.

  • Mirad77

9 days b4 the release of gs3. That sucks.

  • knightsray

On the T-mobile facebook article someone posted about how T-Mobiles version was the best spec wise phone out with only the One X barely beating it because of LTE. I corrected him on this stating how it used the weakest SOC out of all the other version of the Galaxy S2 and how the One X was a whole new better gen. T-Mobile deleted my comment and any other I try to make now. Guess they don’t like constructive criticism

    • Guest

Does anybody else here care what you think? Go complain about something else somewhere else. Just because somebody on facebook says something stupid you have to go rag on a perfectly good phone. Talk about NOT being constructive….

      • knightsray

How was I ragging on it simply stating the facts? It’s still a good phone and is more than adequate.

It’s like I insulted some babies iPhone right now. Don’t take it so hard. If i’m not being constructive then do you really think you are? At least I passed on information to someone. All you did was cry and complain.

    • TBN27

Actually you should include the Galaxy S II Skyrocket for it is exactly identical to the T-Mo Galaxy SII.

  • http://twitter.com/LanhNguyen1 Lanh Nguyen

Well can’t wait for it to roll out and developers get their hands on the update and start building roms.  Currently using a skyrocket ICS rom right now but I always prefer roms created on official software.

    • sombionix

Using a skyrocket based rom for your tmo galaxy s2 isn’t necessary.  There was a tmo base leaked some time ago and there are quite a few roms based off the leak.  Why people are still using the skyrocket based roms is beyond me.  Things are still broken in most of them due to a lack of kernel source.  One such thing being the polarity of the compass.  Anyway, good to know there is finally an official update coming.  For those of you worried about the ‘possible’ tethering restrictions coming with the update, believe me when I say there will be a work around for that.

      • Charlie Brown from XDA

Hey sombionix. Loved your work with the SGS 1. Are you back at xda at all or are you still developing roms? I know you got busy with RL but are you still in the game? Thanks for your past work!!!

  • HDHB

THE ISC UPGRADE IS FOR MOST INTENDED TO STOP THE FREE USE OF ” TETHERING”…. T-MOBILE IS RELEASING THE UPGRADE TO MILK SOME MORE MONEY OUT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR THE DATA THEY
    ALREADY  PAY FOR.

    • sombionix

Dude, relax with the CAPS and don’t worry about the tethering.  There will be a work around for it, I promise you.  Keep in mind that back in the early days, tethering wasn’t even included stock, it was something us developers had to manually work in.

      • Chaz531

The work around is either get an extension to change chrome user agent. Or do not use chrome and use firefox etc. There is also an app called clockwork tether. Which will allow you to tether.

    • Guest

BTW by default on stock gingerbread tethering is already blocked. Also 14.99 for tethering is 1/2 the price of competitors. ALSO in your contract you signed, in the terms of service, internet access is intended soley for you phone. So HDHB YOU ARE GETTING EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAID FOR AND WHAT YOU SIGNED AND AGREED TOO. :)
TIP: Read a contract before you sign it.

      • None

Yeah, you’re right.  It’s our responsibility to read the entire contract on the tiny point of sale screen.  Because it’s totally logical for them to arbitrarily distinguish between how you use the 5 GB of data you pay for.  It’s like a restaurant only giving you a toothpick to eat your food.  ”But you saw there were only toothpicks on the table”.  Come on.

      • ogopogo

And if you did bring in your microscope to read the fine print, would they be willing to red-line changes in the contract for you??

        • Brandon

If you had a good sales rep, they would have explained that to you. Sadly, those are few and far between in this company these days.

        • Getsome

          Pretty broad assumption there….

    • Getsome

      That’s an ignorant assumption

    • Getsome

And given that the new data plan with 5gb includes it in the cost, assuming updates are only there to charge for tethering reveals that your a cheap @ss who has nothing better to do than complain

      • vatreni

Root your GSII. Download the app Tiatanium Backup and “freeze” the “tethering manager” app. Now you have free wifi tethering. Now stop complaining, and do some research!

  • graywolf323

    about freaking time

  • AnonymousAndy

    YAH!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1280247661 Chris Roberts

well i pay 30.00 for 5gb of data with free mobile hot spot so thats good for me..

    • TrevorMadden

How long have you been a customer?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1280247661 Chris Roberts

         6 months

        • TrevorMadden

Ah never mind then, you probably couldn’t sweet talk your way into a $20.00 5GB plan with “free” tethering (assuming your phone is rooted, of course)

  • Carloslacend

Finally ics. This is good news. So I’ll take the GS2. To hell with gs3. I had all the galaxy s. The only thing I lack is the note. I think I’ll settle for the GS2 until tmobile throw the note.

    • Getsome

Should be here soon at that

  • truckeemike

    Yay!

  • truckeemike

@Carloslacend , Your in no way settling buying the GS II. It is an amazing phone. I can’t wait to see how ICS looks and runs on it…

    • Carloslacend

I never said I was going to buy the GS2. Sorry if you got it. I have the galaxy s2. What I meant is that with the update I will not buy the gs3.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=710725095 Jason Crumbley

If I am correct, this will make T-Mobile the first carrier in the states to have ICS on their SGS2, yes?

  • George

    FINALLY!!! :)

  • UmAlum1990

    Can’t wait for facial recognition!

    • DDDDD

FACIAL RECONGNITION ONLY WORKS ON S3 NOT S2UPDATE

      • Bgale14

        Wrong

        • Guest

      • Umalum1990

Not true.  One of my business assoctiates updated his Sensation 2 weeks ago, and withing 10 minutes of the update, to ICS, he was setting up his facial recognition unlock.  So won’t you be surprised!

  • Wilco1293

I never received the OTA update to Gingerbread.
    On phone:

    Android version: 2.3.6
    Kernel version: 2.6.35.11
    Build number: GINGERBREAD.UVKL1

Can I invoke the update manually?

    • Wilco1293

Went to Samsung Kies and manually updated. Now on Phone:

      Android version: 2.3.6Kernel version: 2.6.35.11Build number: GINGERBREAD.UVLDE

    • Wilco1293

Went to Samsung Kies and manually updated. Now on Phone:

      Android version: 2.3.6Kernel version: 2.6.35.11Build number: GINGERBREAD.UVLDE

  • Wilco1293

Will the ICS update come with a new version of Touchwiz?

  • Johntaajacobs

Yes finally :-) im gone love some ICS

  • Jhammo

How much difference from the gingerbread update a few weeks ago to ICS? The update fixed a few of the bugs was having problems with. And i have noticed a little more battery life, so what going to be the difference?

  • God Of Houston is a fucktard

God of Houston, your a fucktard…

  • Tina

Has anyone tried an app called Foxfi? I have been using it to tether even without rooting my phone and have had no problems.  I don’t tether a lot so don’t know how it will work for those that do.

    • http://twitter.com/meek_420 Mike

Tina, thanks for the info. T-Mobile plans on locking down tethering for free with this update. I’m sure our good friend at XDA forum will lead us the way to continue to do so

    • Corrado-sa@hotmail.com

If you have 5 Gb of internet on your plan or higher it is free whit tmobile to tether

  • RalphieQ

Just received the OTA. New York City here!

    • Djclove007

For ice cream sandwich? Or the software update from last week to fix bugs?

      • RalphieQ

Mike you where correct. It was the bug fix. Sorry for the false alarm and even sorrier it wasn’t ICS.

        • http://twitter.com/meek_420 Mike

It’s ok, I’m sure you’re anxiously awaiting your taste of ICS as I am and surely the rest of us here. It’s a damn shame we’re getting this update so late in the game. With the release of GS3 around the corner and rumors of Jellybean already churning the rumor mill, this update should’ve been released months ago.

    • http://twitter.com/meek_420 Mike

Ralphie, I’m sure you did NOT receive ICS over the air. What you probably got was the maintenance update of Gingerbread.

    • RalphieQ

      ehh… 2.6.35.11 nm

  • Vlad2277

WWill ics update delete all apps and data?

    • http://twitter.com/meek_420 Mike

No it will not delete your apps or data. I would bet that some of your widgets might have to be re-added to your “home” screen.

  • Katie1080

    i just recieved my update.
it updated and restarted my phone.
after it finished updating, i see no difference in my phone.

    • Djclove007

Hello Katie that update u got is a software update still for 2.3. Changed the lock screen and battery improvement and some bugs few more day Togo for ics when. U get ics u will see the difference

  • mark

it’s still gonna look like touch wiz, I sold my galaxy s2 and got the galaxy nexus. I like it much better, I don’t miss all the extra things running and slowing down my phone and killing my battery. I doubt the galaxy s2 will ever get the jelly bean update, the galaxy s2 on Tmobile is already almost 2 versions behind

    • http://twitter.com/meek_420 Mike

That is nice Mark, while T-mobile is behind with update this update ALL carriers in the US shove bloatware into any major release which takes time to be repacked/tested. I’m glad you favor the Nexus, but this device is NOT capable of 42mb HSPA + with a better processer and better camera plus IMS Wifi calling (which I look/ed for in a phone). Anyone can freeze/debloat their phones bloatware. From your statement about Jelly bean it seems you don’t know much about technology…JellyBean has NOT been released, there is a rumor of it running on a Google brand tablet only.
So by your logic EVERY carrier is 2 versions behind….you sir are an idiot.

      Good day!

      • Aliriano194

        BUMP +1

  • Tom

Any chance the update will bring the new interface from the gs3?

  • Tom

Any chance the update will bring the new interface from the gs3?

  • Dfireballwow

I thought there would be some more info on the update by now. What’s going on here?

  • V Rios85

There might be a way to have that new ICS interface on the GSII. I tried going to the SETTINGS, then APPLICATIONS, click on ALL, and scroll down to TWlauncher, and click on CLEAR DEFAULTS. Once you do that, go back to the homescreen and click the home button and select LAUNCHER and if you want it as your default just check it at the bottom. Hope this helps, good day.

  • Djclove007

Clock is ticking few more hours to go till Monday keep r fingers croosed called T-Mobile to ask if coming out the 11th they said yes see what happends

  • Idaduck23

Do we know what time it will roll out?

    • http://tmonews.com David

Around midnight pacific time I believe.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sanil1986 sAnIL ,,, ;)

10th june 2012 – 10:45pm – tried to update but showed no new firmware … thought it might come soon … but have to wait few more hours i guess

    • http://tmonews.com David

It shouldn’t be available until midnight pacific.

      • A93hunt

Is this a reoccurring patterns in t-mobile updates (where they push out the updates at midnight?) or is this is guess?

        • http://tmonews.com David

I really try not to guess.

  • Datruth63

just connected to kies.. no update as of yet… 12:00 midnight– central standard time –
