waiting 2 months for $300 rebate, switching to unlimited plan, phone have to be active on that line to be eligible for rebate so can’t ebay the phone until i get rebate. Thank you T-mobile but no.

    • Dumbazz

They should really bend over backwards for someone who wants to game the system.
Maybe you should get a part time since you seem to need money that bad that you have to flip the phone on Ebay.
Kids let this be lesson..STAY IN SCHOOL

      • bogartofelcajon

Seems you have a lot of money to be a dumb-ass. If that’s the case, which I doubt, why don’t you give it to people who needs it, rather than wasting your time reading and looking for post around here who doesn’t like to waste their money the way you do.

Hey kid, let this be a lesson to you. STAY OUT OF THEIR BUSINESS!

By the way, how far is your head on T-Mobile butt?

        • Dumbazz

I would recommend an English class.

        • secano

          Ran out of excuses, huh?

        • bogartofelcajon

          …like a heart attack.

      • GinaDee

Not gaming the system.  Best Buy can and other big box retailers can provide the discount instantly and so can T-Mobile.

Why don’t they?  Because T-Mobile knows many forget to turn in the MIR’s not because they are afraid of getting scammed.

A free phone in exchange for 24 months of service is hardly considered charity although US providers may have brainwashed you into thinking so.

T-Mobile has held up my MIR’s many times throughout the years.  They’ll find any reason to delay their rebates for weeks on end.

If T-Mobile really wants to save some money they can cut ties with the MIR group that costs them millions of dollars per year in overhead costs alone.

        • http://profiles.google.com/mrice.hill Mr. Hill

True in part but T-Mobile probably sees it this way:

          - Yes many people might forget to turn in the MIR or not feel like bothering with it.  More profit for T-Mo.

          - If they gave you the phone for free upfront, then what’s to stop someone from just getting the HTC One S for example free and then flipping it on eBay for like $400-$450 and just pay the $200 ETF.

T-Mobile loses tons of money on the deal if someone does this.  I could go open 5 lines for free, sell the 5 phones for nearly $2000 online and then pay $1000 in ETFs if they gave it away for free upfront.

Waiting 2 months for the MIR and requiring that the customer has the phone is their deterrent for people attempting to get over on the system.

        • Get_at_Me

exactly!!!!  ppl that complain about MIRs need to think as if they owned the business…sure not everyone is trying to get over, but enough will, so rebates, pricing adjustments etc are put in place to safeguard against fraud

      • Fatammy

I have money and I love to make more money but you’d not understand that. You think in only simple terms.
And kids school is only 50% of success. You also have to be talented, creative, determined etc. You can have that piece of paper and still be as stupid as Dumbazz.

    • Get_at_Me

and this is exactly why pricing asjustments &  mail in rebates exist (atleast for promo sales)

  • Awt

do you know the definition of a qualifying classic plan in this instance?

    • brian from forum

22 months since your last upgrade or new activations on classic

      • Corey21

no you have to be on an unlimited single line plan or unlimited family plan.

I like how they show a ‘Black’ One S in the video.  I hear that it will be released later this year…very nice.

    • Steve

How ridiculous to show that when it isn’t available.  Please release the black one here in the U.S.!

Wow, that was fast. I thought the phone would be out for at least 4 months before this phone was offered for free.

  • Pikachu

*sigh* another promotion where the full terms are not disclosed up front. I’m going to flip out at work man I know it. Classic plans, free AFTER REBATE. Value plan, free AFTER REBATE.

THE PHONES ARE FREE AFTER REBATE.
    AFTER REBATE.
    AFTER REBATE.
    AFTER REBATE.
    AFTER REBATE.
    AFTER REBATE.

I pray that people will understand this.

    • http://tmonews.com David

The press release clearly states after rebate, you can’t be to blame for people not reading.

      • Pikachu

I’m only saying, every fathers day or mothers day, we’ve had similar promotions. I always face palm when the commercial does NOT say “after mail in rebate”

        • Pikachu

The majority of promotion awareness isn’t conveyed by press release though, just sayin.

    • secano

I still don’t understand. Can you explain a little better. :)

  • Dstaylo2

Does anyone think that WalMart will price match these prices?

    • http://profiles.google.com/mrice.hill Mr. Hill

Probably not.  Walmart is usually a little cheaper upfront anyway.  Doubt they’ll do the full price mail-in rebate

    • Visa

they have policy to not price match. It would not go thru their account activation system anyway.

  • Ff00x

Another horrible promotion, that raises the in store cost of phones and rebates that more than 50% of customers don’t receive. There are no free.phone at T-Mobile owned retail stores. Only at authorized dealers, cab you really get a free phone.

  • J11 Estrella

IMO, they have a better deal from today until 6/14 for HTC One S. Its $99 -$50 Mail in rebate = $50 compared to the upcoming Fathers Day sale which is $299 out of the pocket less rebates.

    • Brubawil87

If you think that’s a good deal. you’re an ignorant fool. CLASSIC PLAN. Basically means pay less now pay more per month for 2 years. Hey doesn’t that sound like GREAT idea? No. Value plan. That’s what you want. More in store vs online/Costco/walmart/car-toys but less per month for 2 years = Savings. People like you are the reason the economy crashes. You don’t think of the long term. Got to a T-mobile STORE and grab the both of the plan sheets (Classic and Value). Then come back educated and say something smart.

      • Edeasta

Yup, its cheaper for the value plan, but you pay an addtional EIP for the phone = more expensive. I agree with him and in fact he just said “his opinion”, doesn’t means hes right. I dont know why you are mad or something. Its kinda funny how you reacted to his post. Theres nothing wrong with opinions and suggestions from other members here. I’d rather chose an uneducated opinion than an arrogant post like yours.

        • Voodoomamajuju

Alrighty so I really honest, and I mean this kindly… calm the hell down. Let’s just look (I SAID JUST LOOK, I AM NOT TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF HOLY CRAP PUT DOWN YOUR PITCH FORK) at the numbers so we can understand exactly what’s what.

For this demo I will be using a single line, unl talk and text, 2gb, php insurance (7.99 per month… the benefits go way beyond the price, seriously working in wireless makes me paranoid about not protecting my EXPENSIVE device that I use daily) using the galaxy s2 on a normal business day to show the advantages of the value plan. Also, note that tax is much higher in wireless so a 14 percent tax is added on (state, local, government, fees ect)

          Here we go!
          Classic plan: 87.99 w/o tax (about 101 w tax)
          Value plan: 67.99 w/o tax (about 78 w tax)

TOTAL PRICE DIFFERENCE (NOTE NOT SAVINGS WE ARE NOT DONE YET LADIES): 23 bucks.

Now then the EIP for the value plan on the Galaxy s2/ ANY top tier phone is 20 bucks that is TAX AND INTEREST FREE… so your price difference for the same exact phone and plan is… 3 bucks! Over the life of your contact in tax alone… 72 bucks! But wait! There’s more

To look at your whole prices let’s take a look at what this is all going to cost you!

Classic plan 2 year contract: 2,424 service with tax plus 253 for phone (with tax on 280 in store price ((about 303)) and using the 50 dollar mail in rebate)… FINAL PRICE: 2677

Value plan 2 year contract: 1872 service with tax plus 650 for phone…
          FINAL PRICE: 2522

TOTAL SAVINGS ON VALUE VS CLASSIC: 155!!!

Just for fun… if it takes you 10 mins to read this… you pretty much saved 15 bucks a min just to read this here post (all 4.5 of you thank you for your time, really!)

Still here? Awesome! Congratulations you are now educated! So switch the hell over and save yourself some cash- or not, hell your ignorance is going to cost your pocket book more. I know change is hard, but golly folks, this isn’t the most difficult thing in the world!

Alright sooooo… final word! Go to a tmobile store friday and get the value plan, and save even more money because they give back the down payment (less tax) in a rebate card… so your Galaxy will be 450 and not 650 after rebate (pretty sweet if you ask me ((although you will have to get the 5gb data on that, to qualify (((it’s well worth it, plus you can switch over to the 2gb after you get your rebate card whoooops loophole haha))) but same applies for the classic so adjust your numbers accordingly ((((its 15 more a month))))

Ok I’ve spent enough time here, bye everyone! Voodoomamajuju out!

  • flan

I’m guessing the old legacy/grandfathered plans are not eligible?

    • Get_at_Me

have to be on unlim plan to get rebates which will force you off of your grandfathered plan.

  • T-Mobile Sales Rep

The reason it’s after rebate is to prevent fraud.. What’s stopping someone from coming in activating five lines and taking five free One S’s or Galaxy S II’s?  If we gave it free up front it would be all fraud activations.  T-Mobile does the rebate to cover its ass from going bankrupt by giving away hundreds of thousands of dollars of phones to  fraudulent customers.

Verizon just announced their Shared Data plans.  It seems like they will priced very close to Tmobile Plans; hence, will give tmobile run for it money.  I checked online and 4GB shared data plan with unlimited everything (including mobile hotspot) is $150.  pretty atractive price.  May just wait for taht before jumping on this deal.

    • Corey21

tmo sells the same plan for 139.99  for 2gb a piece lol why share . and hotspot with 5 gb a piece for 155.00 good luck matching that.

S2 is free today after $100 rebate. $20 data and 2yr agreement rqd.

  • WW

I was doing a consumer marketing research survey and was presented with a TMo commercial featuring Carly zooming around the U.S. counting cell towers to the “tune” of “one two, buckle my shoe, three four shut the door…”.

Really liked the piece.  Has anyone else out there seen this one?

  • quaestor99

I heard some tablets were supposed to be included in this special as well. Any word on that? I wouldn’t mind adding one onto my family plan.

    • http://profiles.google.com/mrice.hill Mr. Hill

I believe the only tablet included is the T-Mobile Springboard.  It’s the only one that was on the list they pushed to T-Mobile employees today.
