(Updated With Top 29 Markets) T-Mobile Breaks Up Galaxy S III Launch Into Two Phases, Pricing Info Revealed

Here we go, some new information including price:

Samsung Galaxy S III Launch Update

To ensure customers receive the best possible experience, the Samsung Galaxy S III launch will now be broken into two phases. T-Mobile will still be the first carrier to offer the device in-store but the rollout will be in two phases instead of one.

Select Retail and Branded locations in the top 29 markets will launch as scheduled on June 21. In addition, a limited amount of Samsung Galaxy S III devices will be available on T-Mobile.com.

Due to the excitement surrounding the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III, customer demand will exceed the expected launch quantity available on June 21 T-Mobile anticipates the remaining Retail and Branded locations will launch on June 27. Stores that do not receive the initial distribution, and stores who sell out of their initial stock, should use the GSIII Call Back List and contact customers when the devices are available.

Pricing will be as follows:

$629.99 Full Retail, $229.99 down on Value Plans with $20 EIP, $279.99 Classic plan after $50 mail-in rebate (2 year contract required)

Ok. Called retention/loyalty, and these are the official prices according to the account specialist: $279.99 after mail in rebate for 16GB , $329.99 after mail in rebate for 32GB. oh, and for the folks in the Atlanta area, the only stores that have it in stock tomorrow are the bulkhead store and the snellville store. Sorry guys, might I suggest selling some stuff if you really want it. TMobile is playing no games with this one

    • souggie

      Buckhead I meant

      • souggie

But they swear on their mothers graves that it’s worth every penny, so….

  • Batterydead

maybe tmobile was able to do some last second ninja tweaking to the device to make ours superior to the other carriers’ and worth the steeper price tag???  More likely they just determined the highest amount of money we’d be willing to pay. Damn I’m gonna pony up the money but this is definitely a disappointment.  Almost like they knew with its wide release they wouldn’t attract any new customers with it so their plan is to milk us current customers out of as much as they can.

    • TechHog

Nope. They’re just ripping people off yet again.

      • Nunya Beeswax

So, would that be why the plans are so much lower than the other carriers’, ‘o whiney one?

        • TechHog

The unsubsidized price is too high as well, so yes, it’s a rip-off.

  • RiversideGS3

Anyone knows which store in Riverside County California will be carrying the phone tomorrow? I called a couple and none of them will have it.

    • Latinchick_213

Ive called so many in the LA, CA area and not one knows which is the selected store that would carry the S3…. Can someone plz post if they find in LA area..

      • Nunya Beeswax

Just call telesales and order. Even if you find a store that has the s3, it will be a 16 gb version.

  • gpt2010

I just called two Costco locations in Houston, TX and they said that they will be getting the S3 tomorrow! They could not tell me how much it would be until tomorrow. So not holding my breath if it is legit or are they just trying to get me in the door. But I will go and check it out anyways. I am sure Costco will sell it for cheaper. At least hope so.

    • Batterydead

damn in the houston area too but i let my costco card expire a few months back.  how much are they these days

    • sharklover

Did you ask about Tmobile version?

  • Travis edwards

I wonder if all stores will have Demo’s ?

  • MarcusDW

This thread is nearing 800 comments.  It would have been half as many if the phone was $50 less.

    • Nunya Beeswax

Makes no difference. Everybody wants something for nothing. 98+% of customers only want whatever is free anyway and would sooner take a free Wildfire than pay $99 for an S3. I KNOW that to be fact. That tells me that these 800 posts are either liars or an extreme minority. Either way makes the price of a single phone on launch day unimportant.

  • GwapoAko

Samsung GII is now $549.99 (full retail) and$199.99 on contract .. Tmobile.com

  • jarjar2007

I’m already seeing ads for Verizon. Why cant T-mobiles ad department do anything?? Someone needs to get fired!! It’s 199.99 at VZW WTF? Whats the extra $80 for?

  • GwapoAko

Samsung Galaxy S2 is now $549.99 (Full retail) and $199.99 on contract!!!

    • Travis edwards

for an extra 80 bucks you can get the S3 on contract, not impressed with that  s2 cost yet. I wanted to wait on pricing, that’s why I didn’t take advantage of the fathers day sell….

      • GwapoAko

Yup you are right their initial pricing of GS2 was originally $529.99 then suddenly they changed it to $599.99 :0)

      • Shane Peden

Well, the Father’s Day sale was a little wonky anyway. They wanted me to “upgrade” my plan, which basically took me from 1000 min/400 texts and 2 gig data to unlimited talk/text and 5 gig data for a whopping $30 more a month.

I said no thanks. What I have now is good enough. At those prices I can go to Verizon and get superior coverage.

        • Travis edwards

I agree, that is why i waited for the pricing of the S3. Stipulations was unlimited everything which was 99.99 a month, I don’t need unlimited talk…. compared to the 69.99 pricing i believe for the 500 min unlimited txt and data ( 2 g)..

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IKCYUO7RZ25GEU4RU3JMKMMVDY angryshortguy

    What?!
$80 more than the other carriers?
    And AFTER a $50 rebate.
My plan is done in September, and so am I.
For that much, I can go back to Verizon or over to Sprint and get an iPhone I’ve been wanting.
    $280, after rebate, insane…

    • GwapoAko

You will be paying more with Verizon every month :0) Do your math before you decide :0)

      • Angryshortguy

Not sure what the pricing is on these.
        $230 or $280 after $50 rebate.
        It’s looking more like $230.
That’s a bit more easier to stomach.

    • Shane Peden

My initial reaction was same as  yours, then I actually priced out similar plans with Verizon and ATT. $30 more a month for few minutes and no text messaging. OUCH!

Tmo owns me with their much more competitive pricing.

      • MarcusDW

I really hope T-Mobile informs people that very same bit of information.

I will just skip the phone but I will NOT skip the carrier just to pay more elsewhere.

    • MarcusDW

But you will make up the $80(and then some) in about 5 months time by staying with T-Mobile.

      Think about it.

      • deeoh1084

but the network is so dang crappy

  • Enoel69

Interested to know the price for the 32GB version…both full price and also classic plan option.

  • TechHog

That contract price is BS.I’m leaving T-Mobile if they think stuff like this is okay.

  • Jmotley69

T-Mobile store told me in jax,fl they were getting a limited amount and was told to sell to new customers or add a new line of service, wtf!?

  • Forgottenking50

too much, and i was thinking of going with t mobile this year

    • chris

      you are right

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/LWMCMVTQEWWLCRA7LO2ZMSNT3A Billy

Bye-Bye T-mobile. Hope you become like Sprint, you greedy basterds!

I’ve been holding for this phone for two months after my plan ended, and I’ve been on monthly 4G.

Now I’ve made up my mind and I’m moving to AT&T on a family plan with my girlfriend who owns Iphone. Especially after seeing the PC Mag 4G tests. ATT rocks in NYC! The only question is now whether AT&T stores will receive the phone tomorrow. Is there a similar forum like this for AT&T?

One must be a real sucker to swallow this price ripoff.

    • http://twitter.com/LyricallyVodka Chaz Edwards

I live in New York City at&t drops calls at the most busiest places.

  • http://twitter.com/nah_OGAHsah ThatNiceGuy

are those pricing for the 3 GB model of for the 16GB model?

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/LWMCMVTQEWWLCRA7LO2ZMSNT3A Billy

      16Gb

There’s no word on the 32Gb versions anywhere. probably it’s going to come with the SAFE version.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/LWMCMVTQEWWLCRA7LO2ZMSNT3A Billy

Simple math: for every customer lost, T-mobile will lose approx $1200 a year.

For every SGS3 sold, they’ll make about $80 extra.

That means it takes 15 new phones sold just to cover one lost customer or 30 phones to cover for the full two-year cycle loss

    Suck it losers!

    • Tmo_Fan

imagine 20 unhappy customers goin to AT&T or Sprint.. nice going Tmo for one little mistake in price you losing 20 people..

  • Bounty92

Come on T-Mobile, hold true to your standards of being the practical and reasonable network. Don’t become like one of those other greedy bastards out there by charging an arm and leg for your phones. YOU’LL END LOSING A HUGE AMOUNT OF YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!! Just ask NETFLIX….

    • Tmo_Fan

hahaahha True look at NETFLIX they just went dumb and Tmo following for one little thing you can lose alot..

  • edub1906

I just called a retention rep who advised that while they haven’t officially released the price to their employees, but it is his understanding that the phone will be priced at $279.00 before a $50.00 MIR (basically $229.00) for the 16GB phone and the 32GB would be $329.99 before the MIR.  He said that they will not know for certain until tomorrow.

So the wait begins.  $279.00 before the $50.00 MIR for a 16Gb phone makes more sense to me (and most people)  versus $329.00 before the MIR.  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

    • sharklover

I hope this is the case. I think everyone would be fine with $229. David you should send a link to these comment to Tmobile. It may wake them up if they really are going to sell it for $329. I cannot recall any phone in years being sold for $329 under contract.

  • Aaron Todd

I have talked to almost every store in KC.  None of them have the phones yet and almost everyone i talked to said they are being pushed back until next week.  I get that this is a popular phone but man this is crazy.  someone really dropped the ball here.

  • Guest

$279.99 after the $50 mail-in rebate. Are they insane?!?! Every other carrier has the phone for $199, no rebate required. Not to mention, the off contract retail price is higher, meaning you will pay higher sales tax depending on the state you live in.

I have been waiting MONTHS for this phone, and now T-mobile has given me the perfect reason to leave them for another carrier. And NO T-Mobile monthly rates ARE NOT significantly cheaper for me to continue to stay with them.

Verizon’s new share everything plans and At&t’s plans come out exactly the same price as my grandfathered T-Mobile plan. Heck, for the same price on Verizon I’m getting 10GB of LTE with tethering included, and unlimited voice! For the same price on T-Mobile I’m paying for spotty coverage and unlimited data throttled at 5GB. Bye bye T-mobile.

    • Guest2

Have fun paying more on ATT!!  114 for t-mobile with 10gig web and phone and unlimited everything….or a wopping 180 on ATT for 10 gig web and tethering…just cause you think your grandfather plan is better for you… switch to value…. Get facts straight and then post.

    • Travis edwards

the new verizion plans are not ideal for single lines. i talked to the rep last week and he said I was a fool if I waited until they released new data plans.

Pre plan change.. 450 min unlimited txt, 2g of data  (not unlimited ,overage fees of apply) 99.00 not including taxes..

tmobile – 500 talk min, unlimited txt, 2g of data – no over limit fees, speed slowed after 2 g hit… 59.99

seeems like a no brainer to me… approximatley $30 savings a month betweeen the 2 carriers….

      24 mths ( 2 yr contracts) * $30 = $720 saved on plan before s3 expense

      $720 – 229 (s3 cost ) $491 overall savings with t mobile..

This is an estimate, could be more could be less. But you will save over the length of the contract with Tmobile…

  • http://twitter.com/nah_OGAHsah ThatNiceGuy

    i meant 32GB model

  • Donkeypunch242

Meh, as usual again I’ll wait a week or two for walmart to get the phone and buy from them for $40-$70 cheaper AND not have to deal with mail in rebates (they are already deducted from price). Been using walmart for phone purchases for years.

    • S3drool

I’m paying $20 for 5gb data if get from walmart will they change it to $30 or not?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Corey-Walker/1838199082 Corey Walker

YESSSSS to all my chicago people i got the list of stores thats selling them tomorrow. i got one ready for me a 10 o’clock am. i’m number 3 on their list for pick up

    • Travis edwards

Nice, I want the phone, but not bad enough to hunt down stores and miss work until I get it… Who knows they might change a few things until the next batch comes out.

  • Alex

And there you have it folks, $329 BEFORE MIR for a 16GB phone. I’m out.

    • Tbyrne

Hi Alex. Did you factor in the lower monthly rate you’ll be paying than on the other networks? Didn’t think so.

      • Spanky

That still doesn’t change the fact that $329 before MIR is a very high price point.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=638799477 Dave Gomez

Why do you people keep saying stupid things like this?  I can switch to ATT, get the phone for $199 and pay $10 more a month, get 3gb more data per month, and have faster, more coverage.

        • deeoh1084

i agree.. people keep saying lower monthly rate plans but i would rather pay little bit more for better, and faster network i live in Chicago and lately tmo’s crappy network has been driving me nuts it goes in & out every 30 min to an hour i called T-Mobile and they already know about this issue since MARCH!!!! and they still can’t fix it even though they know what the problem is (this is true story i talked to a Tmobile tech support rep and he told me personally that it’s been going on since March of this year)

  • Sniper1087

I wonder if you order it online by when it will ship out? The next day?

    • Rif

id like to know that as-well

  • http://www.facebook.com/roy.harrigan Roy Harrigan

Does anyone know of a 3rd party seller that might be selling this phone for a normal price?

    • Tmo_Fan

hahahah normal price? lolz you mean 199? I heard Costco.. Target they will for sure.. Tmo are something tryna steal..

  • Aja Marie

Does anyone know if they will be coming out with the White phone tomorrow as well?

  • chris

family plans are cheaper and better with other carriers, but if you have a single line it’s better to be with T mobile…..

      • Andrew Baxter

what carrier is cheaper and better for a family plan my girlfriend needs unlimited data

        • John

Sprint is about the same for unlim talk, text and 2gb per line for a fam plan of 4 phones

      • CRT24

you either haven’t even looked at the cost or you are just dishonest……this is simply not true

    • guest

Actually Costco has a $25 rebate for the SGS3 with both Sprint and AT&T, so it would be $179 after rebate.

      • guest

They also offer the same rebate for Verizon and also u get free accessory bundle and free activation for any of the 3 carriers.

  • in2android

I’m in north east Ohio, and in a city not listed, when I just called my buddy @ the Tmo store he said they have 17 & I can come in now & he said he’s able to ring it up!

    • Nomadd212

      Where u located?

      • in2android

I’m in. Cantton ohio & their selling them at the west tuscararwas St. Location. They sold 3 while I was there! Call them, I think their open till 9 or 10. He said all the stores around here have them. Its 369.xx out, the door.

  • 30014

This is just my opinion but you would be better off just dropping $400 and getting the galaxy nexus.

    • http://twitter.com/LyricallyVodka Chaz Edwards

If the nexus tablets are $200. You could get a nexus phone and tablet. At the retail price of the galaxy s3.

  • Guest

I have to agree with all the other commenter, $330 before a mail in rebate of only $50 is a ridiculous price for a phone that’s effectively identical to the other 4 US carriers offering the phone. And the other carriers are offering it for $199 (admittedly, US Cellular is $199 after a $100 MIR). But for a carrier that is positioning itself as a challenger, offering the same phone for $80+ more is, in my opinion, a terrible idea. Consumers really do react to upfront cost, and that price is enough to drive new and existing customers to other carriers. I know that I, who has been with T-Mobile for 10+ years, feel this is a huge kick in the face and am considering switching to AT&T or Verizon, who have much better service in my area.

I have to agree here 7+ yrs in Tmo and yes for 80 dollars people would go to  other carriers that would offer them phones at a cheaper price. people look at whats cheaper first not at the long run right away… hope T-mo either drop the price a little or make some offer that can match what other carriers are doing.. I’m really thinking AT&T and Sprint will sell the phone more than T-mo for sure.. peopler will just buy the AT&T and unlock it for 20 dollars..

      • Dumbazz

Intelligent people ewho know how to budget and ddon’t buy when rtthey shouldn’t look at the big picture . Idiots leave a low cost carrier because a higher cost carrier sells a phone slightly less .

      • Nunya Beeswax

Then those people are idiots. And Tmo could care less where you get your phone. In fact, it would be MUCH better if you get it elsewhere and just come to them for the service. Tmo is a SERVICE PROVIDER, not a phone retailer. The only reason they sell phones at all is to be able to provide tge service. Why do you think they won’t sell you a phone without service? Don’t you thonk that they would if they were making all this bank off of the phone sales? Of course they would!

  • Jim Jiang

In my opinion, when other carriers launch their versions, tMo will cut it to match their prices with MIR, or $229 classic, as it was stated, there aren’t enought to go around.

  • Tom

They just made my decision for me. It’s iphone 5 time! Bye Bye T-Mobile!

    • Dumbazz

      BOO HOO HOO

    • Nunya Beeswax

That will teach them! You go get a crappy iPhone with no expandable memory, no video out, and a squatty little screen. Say it ain’t so! I hope Tmo can manage to stay in business! Bwahahaha

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/G54DR5XZEZ5K73HSUGGWAUFXIU This is Me.

If I upgrade to the Galaxy S3, will I have to pay the full retail price or the Value Plan price?

    • Nikolai T

The subsidized price assuming you’re completely eligible for an upgrade.

  • NinaKanstolgs

So wait… is TMO using the 1900 band for this phone or no? I can understand if they are in some locations but its not worth it if there not I live in chicago and the store is telling me they are going to use the 1900 band but I don’t believe it I think its a scam to get the phone…. time for a #iPhone

    • Nikolai T

This phone supports the 1900 band (most T-Mobile smartphones do, even ones that came out awhile ago, e.g. HTC Sensation, Amaze 4G, etc.). As soon as T-Mobile’s 1900MHz network lights up (outside of the current limited areas), you’ll be able to use it.

  • CRT24

You people that are harping on a $30.00 price difference for the phone, are your brains crosswired or something??? Are you all really that ignorant to realize that the extra $30 you spend on the phone going with T-Mobile service saves you hundreds up to thousands of dollars for the rate plan? So if T-Mobile lowers the price of the phone to $200.00 then do the charge $140.00 for the plan as AT & T and Verizon do instead of $95.00…..55.00 x 24 = $1320.00 in savings with T-Mobile………is that worth paying $30.00 more up front you fools?

    • Andrew Baxter

It’s not $30 difference dude its over $130 difference the phone is $279 after $50 MIR meaning it’s $330 plus tax and tax is off the full retail price also this price that I just said is for the 16GB

      • CRT24

Sorry, 80.00 difference on the phone….(that was a typo) but the main point still stands dude

        • Sizzle

Can I ask, are you a T-Mobile employee?  The only people supporting this on the T-Mobile Facebook page are store employees.

While you’re point about it being cheaper in the long run is valid… T-Mobile generally as a tradition of offering phones at competitive prices relative to other carriers.  That’s one of their best-selling points – same priced phones, but cheaper service.  It is therefore not surprising that customers would be irate with a change, especially one that is so mysteriously detailed.

        • Dumbazz

You friggin whiners need tto get a life . it’s $80 more but monthly service is much much lower . You idiots will always complain .

        • Jim Jiang

So, its better to save $80 first, than about $25 (estimate)per month for 24 Months?

        • http://www.facebook.com/roy.harrigan Roy Harrigan

You only save about between $5 to $7 per month over the course of a contract if you went to sprint.

        • CRT24

No you don’t….sprint’s plans are higher price

        • Nunya Beeswax

          And on a slower network.

        • CRT24

Yes i am…….and? Does that change the facts of what i said? Do you work for Att, Verizon, or Sprint?

  • yahoo

    SGS3+Costco+Verizon+$25 MIR+Free accessory bundle+Free Activation – Tmobiles $330 for SGS3 = WINNING!

    • tmo_rocks!

      spending $30 times 24 months more on verizon’s plan = $720 = LOSING!

  • Ashido480

Any stores in NYC getting it tomorrow, my local store in brooklyn said the 27th

  • Tom

When the new iphone is announced, they’ll be giving these away, like they are the htc one s. And if you are near the end of your contract, they’ll practically pay you to take one. They are just gouging while the gouging is good!

    • Nunya Beeswax

Little Bo iPeep is missing an iSheep…..

  • Sherif

I tried to get on the reservation list at the store near my apartment, but the rep said the ONLY stores in the nearby area to get them tomorrow are the 34th STREET store in Manhattan and the Staten Island Mall Store in Staten Island. I called around just to confirm. No one else has them until the 27th. Why won’t they launch to all the stores?

  • Thepinkplanet

The same folks crying over pricing are the same peeps who cry about TMo not getting any high end Androids.  I wish TMo would’ve gotten the One X, so we’d already know what to expect from these whiny boys n girls.  High End = You get what you pay for.  Now, shut up and reach for that free Wildfire.

And stop threatening to leave!!!!!  You will all be back once the refarming is completed.  Especially, you Isheep.  You’ll be back for the same reason I don’t mind paying more up front for devices,…  The super affordable rate plans….

    Ha

    bad pricing

Is there any stores in el paso that will have them?

    • Nunya Beeswax

Did you even read the article that you posted under?

  • CRT24

It’s all correct, but I and.others have posted those figures on this site a thousand times and people still don’t get it

  • tmo_rocks!

HOLY F*CK!!!   Some people are just ignorant…

SG3 = $280 after rebate add that two unlimited 2gb plan, $80×24 months= $1920…total cost of owning this phone at T-Mo is $2200

Go to Verizon or AT&T and you’ll get the phone for $199 after rebate.  Similar plans are at least $110 a month at both those carriers and they charge overage on data.  $110×24 months = $2640.  Add the $200 for the phone and you’re spending $2840 at Verizon or AT&T over two years.

$640 is huge chunk of change…and this is for new activations.  Upgrade fees at Verizon and AT&T are at least $30, last I checked, compared to $18 at TMO.

So what you’re paying up front for the phone, look how much that saves over 2 years!  $640!!!!!!  Think about it!  It’s even cheaper on value plans….switch to a value plan and that savings jumps to $720 over two years!!

Thanks for some logic! Don’t call it ignorance call it insanity.
I got my One-S for 200 OFF a week ago, I’m a happy camper on the value plan. I pay 180 a month for a blackberry (a new one) with plan, two android data plans, one 5GB, and another old fogey phone. My one-s is great except I want a bigger screen so I’m envious of you S3 guys except I’ll wait for my sale and see if my bank account can take it.

T-mobile said it before your better off save up for the phone and buy it off contract. Subsidies add cost to carriers. Also the phone would be even cheaper if you were on monthly 4g. I wouldn’t be surprised if T-mobile made value plans cheaper in the future. People take subsidies for granted. All the money you save on prepaid or value you could just buy enough accessories to protect your investment and still have money left over.

I understand that T-Mobiles network is very fast despite not being “LTE”. In your guys opinion, does the SG3 on T-mobile lose value because of the fact that it will never run on their LTE when its up and running?  Any danger of having an outdated phone after 2 years?

2 years? Are you kidding? What 2 year old phone is not outdated by today’s standards? Anyone? Anyone?

I guess I am not buying it. it’s worth selling too high from up. it’s not good sell.

All your base are belong to us….

Its funny how everytime a top of the line phone comes out it gets more expensive. So I’m guessing when the gsIV comes out it will be $329 after rebate if the trend continues. And yes I know the plans are cheaper but that doesn’t. Mean its ok to mark up the phone the msrp is set by samsung and tmo think its ok to charge more. I guess all us complaining are the smart ones. The ones that will run out to buy this for 80 bucks more sound like the isheep lol droidsheep samsheep tmosheep

I know! It’s almost like the price keeps inflating or something.. They should come up with a new word for that phenomenon.. Hmmmmmmmm

      • ransack

Wow I hope you are not dumb enough to think inflation is when one company raises its price above the msrp. But I can see from your other posts on here your probly just a company troll.

Do you know if it’s gonna be the White one or not because I don’t want to go to the stores and expect the one I want when it’s not there.

      • http://www.facebook.com/Sunnyy Miisterr Sunny

From what i know or heard blue only i dont really care about color but i would love the white one i can prolly tell you tomorrow after i get it..

      • Nunya Beeswax

I can’t imagine the horrible disappointment you would feel at finding only a blue phone was available and not a white one. Perhaps you should reach out to some sort of support group. For God’s sake, don’t do anything rash! You poor, tortured soul…….. The humanity……
