An update on the Untethered Podcast

Hello, all!

First things first. I’m here to extend an apology to you all. As you all probably know, we haven’t held an Untethered Podcast since December 29th. Sorry about that. Personally, I was moving across the state and trying to pack and prep for CES within a matter of two days. The next week, David and I were both at CES and constantly in search of a working Internet connection and outlet.

Needless to say, the logistics have been a mess as of late.

Last week, we were met with a decision to make. The first three episodes of the Untethered Podcast were amazing. We had an awesome turnout – much larger than we had initially imagined – and hope to grow that in future episodes. However, the way we were doing things and how it turned out, production-wise, was not what we were hoping for. We want more user interaction and a lot of things we haven’t had in prior shows. In other words, we want to provide a better listener experience and better show for you guys.

For now, we’ve decided to regroup and work a few things out before we hold another show. When we’re ready (which shouldn’t be too long, only a couple weeks at most), we will definitely let you know and will be willing to share more details about what we have coming. We hope you understand and hope to see you all tune in for the next show!

Best,

Taylor and the Untethered crew

David… any news on the new hush hush data plans being released today? Is it “official” and has anyone actually been able to get the free tethering? Just curious because today is the day and you wrote nothing on it.

Its live! I just signed up for it this morning. 5GB = $15 and 10GB = $40. The rep I talked to made it sound that this promo was going to be VERY limited. Buy his guess is as good as mine. Also you can always cancle this package at anytime. You just cant add it if the promo has ended. I figure tha I would cancle if I didnt want it.

5GB for $15? Are sure it’s that much data for only $15? You got the free tethering?
I just want to be sure before I call. Thanks.

No Jared’s information is incorrect. The 5gb Premium Plan w/ the free hotspot and tethering feature is $30 dollars while the 10gb plan Ultimate plan w/ the free wifi hotspot and tethering is $60 dollars.

I also signed up for it this morning with no problem

    • As far as I know people are able to take advantage of the promotion. I’m not writing anything on it because the more attention we bring to it, the quicker it will go away.

Alive and well…so is the Android preferred 5gb plan for $20/mo :)

Awesome I just called and upgraded my data plan. While I may only get 300 messages a month instead of 400 I get the mobile life with 10gb of backup which is a $5 value and I will still save myself $5 a month on my bill from what it is now. Funny how the rep I talked to said I was the first person she talked to about this plan and didn’t know anything of it. I think it is safe to promote it though David because they actually mention these plans on Tmobile.com as being available for a limited time only. The rep was surprised at the deal and how everything is combined. I wish the 10GB plan was a little less money… I probably would have upgraded to it because 5gb can go quickly but during these hard times every dollar saved helps and this special offer saves me $60 and gives me a $5 bonus value so that works for me. BTW I have an old 1,000 minute plan with free MyFavs and was able to take advantage of this offer so I suggest others do the same if you use tethering.

Can you create an RSS feed for the podcast so my podcast client can automatically download new episodes?

Called CSR and told him I wanted to add tethering option to my SGS2. I told him there was supposed to be a special promotion where it’s a free add-on. He said he wasn’t aware of it and put me on hold to verify it. He came back on the line sounding surprised and said he could add it on for free and it wouldn’t increase my monthly bill nor re- start a 2 year contract. Had to wait a few hours for the feature to kick in. Works flawlessly! T-Mobile ROCKS!!

I gave in and thought about how this is a special deal and how I use my Tmobile connect as my primary Internet connection, usually going over my 5gb so I updated my plan for $60 for 10gb. While it may seem alot At&t charges $60 for only 5gb and Verizon $80 for 10gb plus another $20 for tethering… so I figured I am getting a good deal if my bill is $100 a month which includes everything including premium insurance.
