Same problem persists here as it does with every other phone…

When the next phone comes out, the next next phone will be rumored.  I got my G2X knowing about the Sensation and the Ruby (Amaze)…That was 5 months ago.  Now, playing with all three, I can honestly say that the difference wasn’t significant enough to stick with my old phone for 5 extra months, lol.

I’m gonna put this out there.  I wonder what Samsung’s ICS update will bring to the table.  I really hope they make an announcement very soon after ICS is released especially since the update is supposed to be much more manufacturer friendly.

    Thanx Aaron!  One more day!

    • JustMike

Based on my experience with the Vibrant, I’d expect ICS on this phone about April or May, assuming they actually get around to working on the upgrade.

      • Anonymous

        My Samsung experience agrees

“no lag what so ever, I’m not really seeing any difference in the performance of this one vs. AT&T’s or Sprint’s version”

    Sweet.

    • Cct Pitts01

The only thing I can say is my brother works for T-Mobile, I have Sprint with the Epic 4g Touch and we compared the phones and to my amazement, the T-Mobile one does not lag at all. But to be honest with the 1.5 would be faster and get better quadrants but I have noticed when running the same tests the 1.2 Exynos seems to be slightly and I mean “slightly faster and when I overclock to 1.5 there is no comparision. But I would still get that beast to see what it can do oveeclocked. :-)

i love how tmobile has awesome handsets and our 4g is pretty banging, but we have to sell off our company because of piss poor management.

    • Anonymous

You mean the management that got us the banging 4G and awesome handsets???  Maybe you should take your misplaced blame and take it to the millions of people who just pre-ordered the CLEARLY inferior iPhone 4s

      • Bratty

Dude, stop trolling. TMo mgmt is to blame for what has been going on with the company. TMo has been losing customers for months. And you blame the new iPhone? Misplaced blame? For you its more like misplaced intelligence.

        • Anonymous

You’re the one who’s intelligence needs to be questioned when you condone a post praising things T-Mobile management is directly responsible for like the phones and network speed while dismissing the management themselves.  The iPhone is one of the PRIMARY reasons for churn and it sounds like T-Mobile tried within reason to get it.  The original post is the true trolling post.

T-Mobile offers GREAT things if you know your tech and know how T-Mobile USA does things for customers in COMPARISON to the other big carriers.  The average consumer doesn’t know all that so its posts by you guys which contribute to the negative brand perception which T-Mobile is facing and is T-Mobile’s problem more than anything else.

so they do come with earbuds unlike the amaze I guess?

Samsung’s earbuds are excellent.  These look a lil better than the ones that came with the first Galaxy S

  • VCUPrince

Just to let everyone know. WiFi calling is not available starting off but an update is coming to make it available. This is confirmed info.

    • Anonymous

already using wifi calling on mine. lol. although technically it is supposed to be an update, and the phone comes with a special sim for use with the new wifi calling coming up that many others talking about.

      • Anonymous

How are you using wifi calling already?  Did you install an apk from elsewhere, custom rom?  WiFi calling is a very imporant feature for me on the GS2 or Amaze, and I found it weird how it has not been mentioned in unboxings or t-mobile website as a feature.  Do you have a link or more info about this special sim?

        • VCUPrince

Sorry no link but basically tmobile is creating a New sim card that the GS2 and the Amaze will be the first to use. The WiFi calling will be the first update and they will continue to roll out updates using the new Sims. Honestly nothing major at all, just new.

      • Anonymous

You have the t-mobile version or an international one. If tmobile version, how is the performance?

    • Meagan

Wifi Calling is found in the settings. There is no Wifi Calling app.
Use the sim providedwith the mobile.

Wish someonr would show this in their videos instead of boring home screens.

      • Tekk83

Stop feeding false information unless you have the phone. I bought the phone today and there is no wifi calling in settings.

        • Anonymous

Go check your Wireless and networks settings and try again.

Any T-Mobile store or anywhere else that sells the phone.

T-mobile will sell the phone unlocked? Sweet, looks I’ll be driving down south this weekend!

        • http://tmonews.com David

They don’t sell it unlocked, you would be able to request the unlock code provided you meet certain qualifications.

        • 12

I live in Canada, so I would have to drive down to the States to get it. What kind of qualifications would be required?

        • pinto

buy the phone outright, and call tmobile for the code. you will get it in 24 hours or so via email. or you could buy the phone from telus as the samsung galaxy s ii x.

otherwise i know on the EU sgs 2, the code is on the phone like it was for the original sgs. and can be found via market apps.

        • 12

So T-mo would give the code if I asked for it? I’ve heard mixed responses on this topic so if someone could verify this that would be awesome.

        • Theblaqman

I’ve had 5 android phones and a Windows Mobile 5 phone with t-mobile.  Every time I get a new phone I just call in and as long as I’ve paid my bill on time for the last 90 days they give me the unlock code no questions asked.  You will have more trouble getting a rep who knows what an unlock code is than you will actually getting the code.

        • Guest

Basically they may or may not.  Depends on who you have the luck of getting in contact with.  If you have no luck, just try again, the next person my be more helpful.

        • 12

Also, I know about telus having the phone but it’s still listed as “coming soon” with rumors pointing for an oct, 19th launch, and tbh I’ve been waiting for the T-MO version for a while and was planning on heading down 2 the States as soon as it became available.

        • Nearmsp

Every phone I have had on my 4 cell family plan has been unlocked. Generally T-mobile gives the code after 40 days of service. But once I was traveling overseas and they gave me the code under a month.

        • Anonymous

Yeah, I enjoyed getting the canned “could not obtain the unlock code from the manufacturer” response from T-Mobile so I just had the phone rooted.

T-Mobile stores do not sell any phones unlocked.

        • 12

Oh really? Do you know of any place that will?

        • Anonymous

Most phones shipped into the US are locked to a carrier. They are much easier to find unlocked in EU or Asia if you travel at all.

Starting this year you can buy the iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4 unlocked from Apple’s web store. (iPhone 4S in Nov) You have to look for the small link at the bottom of the configuration page.

        • 12

Thanks, but I have no interest in buying an iPhone.

  • http://twitter.com/ChanceIll Chance Ill

Say what you want about T-mobile, but they have a hellava Android lineup!!!

    • Guest

      I second that!

  • http://twitter.com/2bzen Steve Hy

I don’t qualify for Same As New upgrade yet so for me to get this phone, it would cost $354.99+tax+$18 upgrade fee.  Deciding whether to add another line on my bro’s ATT account and just get the iPhone 4S.

  • Ilyas_k15

I know that the Amaze 4G is fantastic, but I think I must go with this phone. It’s cheaper, faster/snappier, bigger battery, larger amazing screen, the camera is pretty good too, and it’s a #1 Android device for a reason. I just hope it won’t take long for it to get the Ice Cream Sandwich

  • Sanman202

Who is upgrading from the Vibrant that didn’t give you much trouble. Is this GS2 worth the upgrade if the Vibrant is still working good?

    • Ilyas_k15

Vibrant is an excellent device. If I had a Vibrant, I would probably wait up for the Galaxy S III. But since I don’t, I’m getting this one instead

      • Sanman202

If I get this phone I may sell my Vibrant. I would like the larger screen. A tablet would not be needed with a 4.5″ screen. The Dell Streak has a 5″ screen and that is considered a tablet. Also, the dual core 1.5ghz is nice. I
may hold off to see what happens with the Nexus Prime. Galaxy 3 is probably a year away from U.S.

        • Ilyas_k15

For sure, it won’t come until next summer for sure. It probably won’t come out until Spring 2012 in Europe, and won’t come to the US until at least 3 months after. It’s really your choice, but I think the Vibrant is a solid device and it can easily last you another year

        • Sanman202

True, I was looking at it tonight and thought this thing still looks good. 4″ screen is a nice size and it runs pretty good still. It runs the same apps as the new phone does. Camera is pretty good and so is the vid recorder. It’s not like I have a sidekick or something and want to upgrade..lol  I still may do a hands on with the SGS2 at the store to see how it feels. If it is that much better then I might go for it. Want to buy a Vibrant?..lol

        • Ilyas_k15

Lol thanks but no thanks, I have a Motorola Cliq that I can’t wait to get rid of, and I’ve been eyeing the GSII for months. Amaze 4G was also an option at first, but I decided to go with this one. Speed/quickness, larger screen, Super AMOLED Plus, and other stuff are slightly more important to me than a slick design and a good camera. Plus, the camcorders on HTC devices are downright awful, and the GSII has been awesome in every way so far. Only one thing could make it perfect, a physical camera button

        • Sanman202

Yeah, an upgrade will do you good..lol I’m sure you will love this device. If I’m considering getting it and having a very good Vibrant then you know it’s good..lol I knew this was coming down the pike months ago and consider this one to be the only upgrade out of the Vibrant. The Sensation wasn’t enough difference to warrant a change. The Nexus may come to Tmo but there is no definite word yet. Verizon is making an announcement on Nov, 3rd from what I read. Dual core 1.5ghz and up will be the norm in 2012. I saw that Snapdragon next gen will have capability to hit 2.5ghz. Up to desktop speeds soon.

        • Ilyas_k15

There are rumors that the GSIII will have a quad-core processor lol that’s insane. I think it will take a hell of a toll on the battery life. What’s the point of the quad-core processors, if they dual-core processors are doing a fantastic job? It’s like the mobile phones are aiming at taking out the computer industry altogether

        • Guest

Thats so funny, I am on the same boat.  I have a Cliq and it was kinda a choppy Android first experience.  It freezes and lags and etc … just all around underpowered.  CANNOT wait to get my hands on the SGSII

        • Mastrorj

camera features on the GS2 are way better then the sensation. HANDS DOWN. I have the Sensation n it blows lol

      • Gilla87

I agree.. Definitely my next phone.. Coming from an hd2.. The vibrant didn’t have a flash, so in my opinion I made the right choice with the hd2. I didnt see the appeal in having a vibrant or the 4g version when the hd2 was such a beast, but this Hercules looks to be my next device for sure :) Goodbye super versatile ultra mega hd2 :/

I am.  My Vibrant works like a champ but this phone has ALL the features you expect from a high end smartphone today.  Except higher resolution but eh.

I’m giving my Vibrant to my dad because its still an awesome phone and now I got my brother, mother, AND father using an Android phone!  And my fiance, her sister, and all of my good friends use Android too.  Its crazy!

    two observations:
-looks very plasticky and cheap, he pretty much folded the battery cover!
    -huge as a tablet
-the icons don’t look as sharp as the Sensation…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1586820069 steadymobb

      …that’s 3 observations…

I’d reserve judgement till you see it in person

    • Ctkm1322

The screen on this phone is 10 times better than the sensation wait til you see it in person

      • count on me

I have seen it in person. You are mistaking bright colors for clarity. The gs2 is nice but its 800 x480 display on a 4.5 inch screen isn’t enough. You can tell

    • Guest

I have “two” words for you … one too many observations.

    • Mastrorj

so i have both the sensation and sprints galaxy2. Res on sensation is higher but u know what thats cool n all but that also means the text is smaller. Everything is smaller on it lol look guys its about PREFERENCE. Neither is better then the other. its all about what u make of it. U like sharper, smaller text go for the sensation. If u want bigger icons and amazing color and yet still very very sharp, go SuperAmoled Plus. Also its not really that much bigger. N just bc a phone isnt made of metal doesnt mean its not durable or built well. Yea he folded the back cover but it does that bc of its durability, if it was cheap it would of snapped in half. Ive never had a phone work this perfectly. I tell u guy that u just cannot go wrong with this phone. ICS OS might be on the prime, but anyone ever think that oh maybe you might not want it and maybe u might not like the changes???? just bc its a new OS does not mean its the thing to get. Anyone remember when windows Vista came out or how about windows ME in 2000. Latest and greatest doesnt always mean its going to be “the best”. All of u waiting for the prime could get it and go wow…this kinda sucks, why did they do this and that.

  • M Zapata80

If I pay full retail price for the phone do you think they’ll give the unlock code if I request it??? Any idea???

    • Ilyas_k15

Umm it depends on the representative, maybe you will be able to convince them, tell them that you travel a lot and that you will be using different carriers

  • microSD_question

Seems that memory cards are not coming in phones lately (and maybe not for a while, not sure)… I need to get a microSD along with my next phone.  I get the sizes and the classes, but does anyone have an opinion on what manufacturer they feel is best?  PNY?  Kingston? etc…

    • Guest

I am def a Sandisk fan.  I have also had flash memory from lexington and it has been decent. But honestly with USB drives I tend to be a bit more picky, but microSD cards are simple enough that I usually dont notice much of a difference between manufactures.

  • Nearmsp

Can the first person who uses UMA on the T-mobile version of SGS2 please post here so we know UMA is working. I would not want to buy it until I know UMA is working. thanks.

  • Erikahun23

Looks nice I like it, I got the at&t samsung infuse 4G which I fell in love with. But at&t Is soo expensive its my first time with them and I am soo regreting switching to them. I always had metro piece of shyyt which was horrible. Idk why so many people talked bad bout at&t service being crappy its not that bad. I live in san fransisco and so far I had 0 dropped calls and reception everywhere I went to even in LA and fresno and san diego I had awesome reception and no dropped calls and clear call quality MUCH better than metro pcs. But like I said it is just to expensive. Its ridiculos I pay 140 for 1 phone. And I wanna switch to t-mobile and get this phone. But from what I heard this phone doesn’t have an exynos processor? I don’t really know a lot about phones I admit that. But I read in previos posts being mad about this phone having that exynos processor that it has a different processor. Will that affect everyday usage ? Like internet browsing? I don’t really download many apps ill maybe have like 10 the most fb,email apps the usual stuff will the phone be fast or slow so yea help anyone? Thanks.

    • Chris

Being an ultra phone nerd, honestly too obsessed for my own good, I can tell you you will have no idea what processor is in the phone.

    • Kywalex

I am using the Infuse too but it is unlocked so I can use it on T-Mobile. Well you can’t really tell the differences as long as they are both Samsung and dual cores.

    1. What about a Speedtest comparison of 4g with the SGII vs. Amaze?Like
Reply2.  What about typing comfort/speed?  I’m a longtime blackberry user and switched to android briefly when they only had 3.7 inch screens.  Made too many mistakes when typing so I switched back to blackberry.  But I miss many Android features.  Is the extra width of the 4.5 inch SGII more accurate to type on versus a 4.0 or 4.3 screen?  I’ve seen photos of the 4.3 inch Amaze and it is not as wide — I assume the keyboard keys would appear narrower than the SGII’s keys.  Can you let us know which device you would prefer to type long emails?

    • Mobileboy

Kahala, In April of 010 I switched from a Blackberry 8330 Curve to the HTC HD2 with a 4.3″ screen. That didn’t go well. Windows 6.5 sucked…but worse, typing was impossible. Coming from a Blackberry, typing on glass of any size is a tough task. I’m writing this on an iPad and that’s laborious.

I have the new 9900 which I love. Yes, the screen size is much less, but boy oh boy is that keyboard creamy. I do lust for these great new Android phones…but then common sense takes over. There is no difference in typing efficiency between a 3.7 and 4.5 screen. Make a mistake or an errant touch and it’s torture.

  • David W

Okay, now that the excitement of release is here (well, Wednesday), how long before we see the first post-release “specials” like the (in)famous 2-for-1 on the Vibrant last year?

    • DIAMOND PRINCE

Right lmfao or free with a contract

    • Mark Hennessey

Or how long before the “When are we gonna get upgraded to ICS?” (And I say that as a Vibrant user who will likely get this or the Nexus Prime…)

      • David W

LOL, I admit I may be in that camp if I get the SGSII. The prospect of ICS is the, ahem, “prime” (no pun intended) reason I’m at least contemplating waiting for the Nexus Prime. However, some sites are reporting that the launch for either is being delayed, possibly due to late-emerging ICS issues, so I may just forget it and get the SGS II.

I must admit going in that I know Samsung is pitiful at updates, so the prospect of getting the SGS2 bumped to ICS probably isn’t in the offing anytime soon.

  • Chrisangel13

went to my local tmobile store today and they had this phone and they let me play with it. first impression, I LOVE THE SCREEN ON THIS, BABY! the colors just pop out at you and the viewing angles are fantastic! despite it’s pixel density being lower than that of the HTC Amaze, i could hardly tell the difference. and i know lots of people are whining about it not having exynos, this phone is fast i tell you! compared to other android phones i’ve tried this one has no lag! i’m not an Apple fanboy but one thing i do like about iOS is how smooth it is and the Samsung GS2 i think is the first android phone i’ve used which is even faster than iOS. i had it flipping though homescreens and opening apps like a pro! then i tried out the camera, took a couple of pics which all came out quite nicely and the video came out smoothly. i may now finally be able to retire my digital camera and use this for when i’m capturing moments with my friends. the phone itself was very light, yeah it’s made of plastic but the phone feels good in your hand and the matt back is great so the phone doesn’t slip out of your hand and fall to the floor. after using this phone in person, i’m starting to care less and less about the Nexus Prime because this phone is just that good! i will wait till wednesday to try the HTC Amaze too so i can compare these two awesome phones and make my final decision

So I see it can be had cheaper on upgrade from Walfart and other online retailers but I have a question.  Hypothetically speaking if there were “problems” with my new phone would I have to deal with said 3rd party retailer or Tmobile to resolve?  Not sure if saving $50 or so is worth the headaches

    • ImProbablyRight

You would have to go to said 3rd party retailer/authorized dealer in which you purchase the phone. Ask me how I know. :-)

you deal with tmobile directly after the 14 day return policy with in the 1st 14 days walmart will return the phone no problems

Boy this is one sexy looking device despite its size. I narrowed my choice down to three can’t go wrong devices…first on the list is the new Nexus (Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus), the Amaze 4G and the GS2. You definitely can’t go wrong with any of the three devices but this time around my money goes to the Nexus. Reason being Vanilla ICS from the box, timely Updates directly from Google, the sleek sexy slightly curved design, that 4.65″ 720p Super Amoled HD screen, the rumored 32GB internal storage hopefully with an external micro SD slot, and hoping for a huge battery as well. Despite the huge screen size the device will be abt the same size as the GS2..not bad at all. Now if this wasn’t coming to Tmobile then it will be a duel between the Amaze and the GS2.

Just got two of these for free through the retention services!  comes in the 13th though :(

T-Mobile is goin down the crapper why? Because of dicks like you.

      • http://twitter.com/chiu0nthls chiu0nthls

I didnt do anything but ask about the same price as the competition, and they gave it to me.  dicks like you need to get a life and quit assuming.

      • Anonymous

really nothing wrong with it considering he most likely got lock in another 2 year on contract. They don’t give out free stuff for nothing

I just said I was looking for the samsung galaxy s2 for the same price as the competition, and they said I can beat their price.  Then they gave it to me…

how long have you been with T-mobile? Were you connected to the “retention” department?

I feel sorry for the people who have to decide between this and the Amaze…without having some “hands on” time with both devices. I’m a TMO rep and ever since we’ve gotten both phones in, I’ve been struggling on which one to get. I’ve had hours and hours of play/test time and still can’t decide….although….right now I’m leaning a little more toward the HTC side.

For what it’s worth (.01), here’s my take on the two and some of my personal preferences.

    Speed:
I’ve done so many browser test between both units and there are times the GSII opens just a fraction of a second quicker, then there are times the HTC does. In my opinion, the SGII feels just a little snappier….but not by much.

    Display technology:
I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of “boooos” on this, but I like the Amaze display just a little more. Let me tell you why. The whites (background on web pages) don’t seem white. They’re more like a very, very light shade of gray/blue. Hard to explain but its not just my eyes. Everyone I showed this to said the same thing. I had both phones set to max brightness and everyone agreed that the Amaze displayed a more true white versus the SGII and I have a Galaxy S4 and that display is fine.

With both phones set to max brightness, the Amaze was brighter. Now the other reason I prefer the Amaze (here come the booos again) is that the colors on the SGII seem over saturated…..almost “kiddie-ish” in my eyes. But the size of the screen makes it easier to read webpages. I will admit though that almost everyone I showed the phones too….did like the SGII display a little more.

    Form factor:
Although the Amaze is a little heavier and narrow, it feels more comfortable in the hand than the SGII. The dedicated buttons for camera/video are big plus because I take a lot of pics/videos. The Samsung feels blocky/wide.

    TouchWiz vs Sense:
I didn’t care for TW on my SG4 so I’ve tinkered with several launchers to finally get it to where I like it.
Straight out of the box, I like Sense a lot more than TW……..and I say this without having to install/change launchers. The fact that you can load the camera or video right from the dedicated keys without having to unlock the phone is great as well as the 4 apps right after lock screen. I personally enjoy the customization on Sense more.

    Camera:
If your going to test both phones at the same time, I dare you to try the panoramic shot. Big difference on how each phone handles this.  HTC…..does sweep shot instead of individual snap shots. When zoomed in, the pics still look great, The SGII takes 8 pics (I believe) then combines and has more of a wider range but when reviewing the picture, its blurred/grainy. I also liked the pics better on the HTC.

    Battery life:
Couldnt give you any info on this.

With all that said, there’s still something about the ease of the SGII I still like so I’m going to spend a few more days testing out games, you tube videos, and other things.

Good luck to all you guys who are looking at both phones. You can’t loose with either one.

Thanks Ohgeez10 for taking the time and adding to the discussion on this. Many have struggled to choose one of the two. Does Amaze have UMA/Wi-Fi calling out of the box?

ohgeez10, how bout 720 or 1080p flash performance in the browser? does it handle it as well as the exynos does?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ONDU3ICZY5ZMA2LNECW66CVPIM All About Me

Since my G2X is an incredible piece of crap, once the excitement over the S II has died down a bit, I’m going to try to convince TMO to swap me for it. If I have to pay a little, that’s OK, but the G2X is just a piece of junk.

    • CMPunk

Crazy, mine is the best phone I’ve ever used.  Same for my two co-workers who own them…Maybe you got a lemon?

Still, the GS II is THAT MUCH better than any phone T-Mobile’s ever had.  I’m still going to wait for the Nexus as I just LOVE the Vanilla Android.  However, the new touchwiz is pretty nice… :)

  • David W

Well, I was going to consider waiting until Nexus Prime came out, but it looks like that’s not hitting TMo until at least Thanksgiving. And my patience just took a hit when my ancient ol’ myTouch 3G just spontaneously rebooted for the umpteenth time just to spite me.

Funny, my G2X has been he best phone I’ve ever owned. But I guess speed and power are not your thing.

  • Anonymous

Called Retention dept. I got it for $100.27 including taxes and shipping.
and also got Android Preferred Unlimited Data plan for $20.
The longer you have been with T-mo, The more discount they will give you.
    I’ve been with T-mo for 6 years.

    • MMakoto

what is that android preferred unlimited data plan? is it any different than the regular unlimited data plans? i was just told that i’ll get the 5gb plan on my upgrade, but was not given any details or restrictions.

      • Anonymous

It’s the same 5gb unlimited data plan with $10 cheaper price, only for loyal customers as far as I know.

    • Tato Quiroz

were you eligible for a full discount or was it mid contract with partial discount or no discount??

      • Anonymous

Of course full upgrade price. I have never had any contract with t-mo for 6 years.

    • confused

can you tell me step by step how you did this? i’ve been with tmobile since 2003 and would like to know how to work the system as it were

      • Anonymous

        1. Call T-mobile and say “Retention” or “Customer Care” upon auto prompt.

        2. If connected to a customer care representive, ask him or her about any special promotion for Galaxy S2. They may hesitate to give you special price right away. But they will give you the price eventually once they think you’re qualified.

        3. If he doesn’t give you any special price, either the representative is too new to offer the special price or you’re not qualified. So, hang up and try different representative.

Please be gentle even if they don’t give you the special price.

        • confused

          thank you so much!!

        • Rsg_1

Just spoke to TMO “Customer Loyalty Department”, as I was connected by the CS rep.  They were polite and so was I. But no deal, and in fact wanted $249 for the SG SII instead of the $229 that I eligible for with a full upgrade in store.

        • Anonymous

Have you tried different representatives? If you failed more than 3 times, I believe you’re not qualified.

        • Rsg_1

Well, I can get at a T-Mobile store for $229, after rebate, and through CS only $249 after rebate?

I don’t think its worth calling again in my opinion.  What makes me qualified?  I have the 2GB/month data plan.

        • Droiiiiiid

Well no dice for us either :-(  My wife called them twice and both times asked for any discounts and was told no, sorry.  They even told us the upgrade over the phone was $249 instead of $229 online.  We asked about price matching Walfart and that was a big N-O.  Oh well we tried…..

  • smylax

I can confirm that neither this nor the amaze has wifi calling although our spec sheets say coming soon on both devices for wifi calling. Our stores have been receiving new sim cards for these devices because the old sims will not work with the new revamped wifi calling that will be coming soon.

    • Nearmsp

How soon is “soon”? Any timeline predictions? This year? Next year?

      • CMPunk

Right out of the box.  You need to switch or attain the sim card in the box for Wifi Calling to work.

        • jdthepig

Ignorant question…doesn’t our existing SIM card contain our phone number? If so, what is the process to switch to the one in the box?

    • CMPunk

“our spec sheet?”  Are you really a T-Mobile employee?  Because if so, you’d know that they BOTH come with Wifi Calling, but need the sim card from the box for it to work.

Got mine this morning. Well… What can I say… This is one LAGGY POS :-( Beautiful body, gorgeous screen, outstanding speakerphone. But the UI lag is horrendous. Returning it first thing in the morning tomorrow. Shame on you, Samsung!

      Troll?

      • Frigadroid

Well half the review was positive so I’m not sure I would call that a troll. I expect more negative reviews as the phone gets out to the general public who are without tmobile or samsung agendas.

        • Anonymous

I can’t wait to put up my review!  I almost feel like i’ve “taken the plunge” so my expectations are pretty flat line right now.  Couple more hours to go!

      • http://artconcept.us artCONCEPT | NYC

Nope. Just someone who had high expectations for this phone.

        • Anonymous

Perhaps a little too high then considering its the best phone out on T-Mobile or are you just thinking its laggy because u know it don’t have the Almighty Exinos processor. I haven’t seen lag at all from my uses of it.

yeah I wouldn’t want to flush my rom too that sounds dangerous

        • Drivethruboy168

This phone has no lag wtf are you talking about???

        • http://artconcept.us artCONCEPT | NYC

WTF am I talking about? Would you swear on your mother’s life that every T-Mo SGS2 born equal? Do you have this phone? Is it possible that MY phone could be defective? So STFU.

        • CMPunk

It could be defective as the two demos I played with worked perfectly.  If you just got it, try a reset and see if that helps.  The ones I played with had, literally, 0 lag.

        • http://artconcept.us artCONCEPT | NYC

I’ve done that twice already. It didn’t help. The Engadget review says “ this phone proves slower than its siblings, including a Quadrant score of 2,576 (the Epic 4G nabbed 3,244)”. But my score is ~3600. Weird right?

        • Anonymous

I own all three GS2′s, and T-Mobile’s version is definitely not faster than the other, but not slower either, this guy is just trolling, I don’t understand why people feel the need to do stuff like this. He is talking about this phone as if it is an LG Optimus or something, more than likely one of those BROKE iPhone 3G users on TMO’s network.LOL. How in the world can you call this phone LAGGY? Has to be a troll, go away you POS.

        • Anonymous

Well now, if your phone is defective as you say then why not just replace it?  Instead of blaming it entirely on the T-Mobile line GS2 in whole?

In Phone Dog’s review he said that our version is equal in speed to the other two.

        • http://artconcept.us artCONCEPT | NYC

I’ve never blamed the entire line. I was talking about MY phone and MY phone only. Anyway I’m going to the local TMo store right now.

        • Anonymous

“This is one LAGGY POS… Shame on you, Samsung”  Yeah that’s talking about the phone and not just your probably faulty unit.  GL though.  If mine is laggy I will exchange and/or return if needed be as well.

      • Bratty

        one word: WHY
He paid good money for the phone and he should not be expected to “make it work”. That is Samsung’s job.

        • http://artconcept.us artCONCEPT | NYC

          Exactly.
