Need Some More HTC Amaze 4G Unboxing Goodness?

Do you need some more HTC Amaze 4G unboxing goodness in your life? Well we’ve got 10 minutes of the HTC Amaze 4G getting unboxed thanks to our friend Aaron from PhoneDog. Arriving for pre-order October 10th the Amaze 4G offers up a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.3″ qHD display, 8 megapixel camera, 1080p HD video recording, Android 2.3.4 and Sense 3.0. You’ll have to break open the piggy bank for the $259.99 price tag after a $50 mail-in-rebate but judging by Aaron’s excitement over the phone it’s worth the price.

HTC Amaze 4G or the Galaxy S II?

    • Raul

      Gs2 trust me!

      • JustMe

I had the Nexus One (HTC), Vibrant (Samsung), and now the Sensation (HTC). I prefer HTC products over Samsung now.

        • dodo95

I agree with justme, HTC all the way. Quality + great looks.

        • Raul

i had a vribrant then an evo then sensation n sensation was laggy so i returned it and bought a used vibrant to wait for the gs2

        • Vim

Yeah, lag has been an ongoing concern for Qualcomm powered handsets, but Aaron is noticing no lag whatsoever with the Amaze.  It looks like the new chip and/or the increased memory has fixed this issue.

I had the HTC myTouch 4G.  Biggest POS phone I’ve ever used.  Lag, freeze ups, reboots, overheating you name it.  On my 3rd replacement.

All these phones are way too expensive when you combine it with what the contract itself costs.

    • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

simple then don’t buy them,  Nobody is forcing you to.

Ya more than the Sensation but it does have a better camera, more ram and bigger processor.

  • Davenycept

Hey does anyone know if the amaze can save videos from websites to internal memory like my vibrant can? (my girlfriend has a mytouch 4g and it cannot)

How about instead of saying “qHD”, you actually include the resolution values?  That would be much more useful.

    • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

most people already know qHD means 960 x 540, if they don’t their fingers aren’t broken they can look it up.

I bet that raised screen is nice when coupled with a case. making it much more seamless.

  • Vim

This is one beautiful phone, and I’ll take HTC’s build quality and UI over Samsung’s any day.  My vote is definitely for this over the Gal SII.  The Nexus Prime on the other hand will have a 720P display, Ice Cream Sandwich, and no crappy Samsung UI.  But will T-Mo get it any time soon?  Verizon has got it as an exclusive at least for a few months.

Pretty happy sensation user here but the added ram of the Amaze is very noticeable.
We have an additional upgrade in November so my Sensation may go to my wife and I will pick up the Amaze

  • nerdlust

This phone is a winner. All tmobile dualcore phones are hot. I can’t wait to have some dualcore action.

I like Aarons videos he does in 10 which most other reviewers can do in like 6. I do like his banter though sometimes.

SO tired of all the bloatware and web-links.  Not the worst offender but, come on…

  • Anonymous

It weighs a 1/3 more than the SGS2. What a tank.

    • Ohgeez10

You can feel the difference between both phones. Although I like the weight of the Amaze, it is heavier and noticeable.

Visited my local tmo store and can confirm that the amaze and sg2 does not have the WiFi calling app shortcut under apps so I’m not sure if the traditional WiFi calling is included or how it works on these new phones.if it’s not included,we’ll have to wait for root and then install WiFi calling .apk.

    • meagan

Saw comments from other peeps that WiFi-Calling is now in the Settings, and uses a special SIM that is included with the mobile.

Can any Tmo Store reps or customer shoot screen shots or video with their mobile showing the WiFi Calling Settings screen.  And state where it is found in the settings.

I was doing some research on this, and it seems that is the case.  You need to use the new sim that comes with the phone to use the Wi-Fi calling feature.

        • Ohgeez10

We have been instructed to use the SIM cards that come with the phone and swap them out.

        • Meagan

          Swap them out with what?

Where did you hear or read about a ota for wifi calling?

    • onewayskater

Saw for myself yesterday, wifi-calling is now in the settings. It’s just like all other settings for the wifi, data, etc. just no more shortcut.

  • Meagan

    Hey TmoNews David:
Your script for stumbleupon is not playing well with Firefox at all.  I can send you a screen shot if needed.

Anyone else getting the script error prompt?
