If A Miracle Happened, Would You Buy A T-Mobile iPhone?

With the Apple announcement taking place in a little over an hour I’m going to make this post short, sweet and simple. If a miracle were to happen and T-Mobile were to receive an iPhone in the very near future would you buy it? All of the signs point toward today being an uneventful day in T-Mobile land but if the opposite were to happen, how would you react? Take the poll below and prepare to find out in just over an hour.

T-Mobile will probably get some CPU downgraded version of the iPhone (if they ever got it) just so they could get the 42Mbps.

  • I would buy it ASAP. I really hope they sell it unlocked alongside the carrier release, and that it supports AWS.

  • Leo

    Sure I will buy.

  • Anonymous

If they were to announce the iphone to T-Mobile & will release it next week… then i’ll stay with t-mobile, otherwise i’m out! yayyy! exciting.

  • Adam

If it was announced I would buy one. That being said it is highly unlikely given the remarks from Tmobile themselves. Also the fact that every single thing that has been leaked has been from at&t and sprint doesnt really help the cause either. So unless Tmobile is really good at keeping secrets we wont be getting an iphone.

Next week should be interesting as well with the new nexus.

T-Mobile doesn’t have to sell it for me to buy it. Show me AWS support, and I’m sold.

I’m a long time mac user. I use at home and at work. I own 7 mac…. now that we established how much I love Apple’s computers, I tell you I will never PAY to own an iPhone. I talk one for free though any day of the week.

  • boooo

absolutely not. I’ll wait my 6 months and get out of this hell and get a iphone with sprint =)

  • That would be a huge miracle. However, if people want an iPhone with T-Mobile, the bright side is that you can do this with an unlocked iPhone :).

  • Does it count if I buy it from Cinci Mobile?

You can buy one unlocked directly from Apple.

        • I’ve been a BlackBerry user since the Motorola Q.  I’ve had all of the iPhones and some Android devices for application development, which I kept as 2nd phones along side my BlackBerry.  You could never get me to replace my BlackBerry with any of those phones.  My iPhone 4 sits in the bottom of a crate somewhere.

Apple just announced that the iphone 4s is a world phone does that mean it can work on Tmobile?

    • ItsMichaelNotMike

Well it is the dual phone (GSM and CDMA) we have talked about in here from time to time, something some people said was not possible. So Apple showed them. LOL

      • Anonymous

Except the original BB Storm supported GSM/CDMA in one device a few years back. It’s nothing new

    • Any GSM iPhone will “work” with T-Mobile.

      • Gatorboyncaa

So, if I would get my hands on the iPhone 4S, I would be able to use the 3G or 4G network???  I know the iPhone 3GS would only use the 2G (Edge).

Sounds like iPhone 5 didn’t make the keynote (unless they’re saving it for after the iPhone 4S).

    • ItsMichaelNotMike

Well I think the iPhone 5 might be separately announced as a Sprint exclusive, on another day?

  • 785rio

    hell oh no.

  • W3m1975

Tom Cook is worse then Jobs he has been talking for an hour and no major announcements just a bunch of apple ego stroking. Where is this announcement? I have had 3 horrible experiences with apple customer service so the answer will still be no unless t-mobile is supporting the devices themselves.

  • ItsMichaelNotMike

    Carriers announced, for US:

“In the US it’ll be Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.”

    No T-Mobile miracle guys.

    • Mopar6464

Now watch the mass exit of T-Mobile customers to Sprint.
Not much more than what their paying now and will get the iphone with true unlimited data.
And  watch some customers leave AT&T and Verizon as well since Sprint will still be cheaper than the others with true unlimted data use.
And I really don’t care for Sprint either , just saying.
      T-Mobile is sinking ship anyways.

I already have a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS on T-Mobile.

I’ll very likely get an unlocked iPhone 4S eventually.

I’m calling sprint tonight.  Been with T-Mobile since Bush’s first term.  Unless Sprints plans for the iPhone are insanely high, I am taking my two lines and leaving.  Not just for the iPhone, but because T-Mobile is heading into the waiting arms of At&t now, and there are no signs of T-Mobile getting the iPhone any time soon.  I’m not a fanboy, but I do like technology.  And that phone is the best all-around phone technology out right now, and this time next year the iPhone will probably make another huge leap.  If I thought t-mobile would get added for the next iPhone that came out, I would stay.  But all signs (to me) point toward t-mobile going away.  R.I.P. T-Mobile.

They should just let the ATT merger happen. T-Mobile seems like they aren’t even trying. “let’s have a conversation to try and get people from switching”.

With the acquisition still on the table to be decided , that very well may be the reason T-Mobile is not getting the iphone.
If they did , AT&T customers would jump ship to T-Mobile and save half the monthly costs on their plan knowing they will get to keep the deal if the AT&T Buy-Out is approved.
People on AT&T and locked into a contract will complain about having to pay twice as much a month for the same AT&T service.

    • Mike

When are you guys gonna learn that it’s not about specs, but instead the user experience. Most of the people out there using smartphones are not tech geeks who know how to root and flash custom ROMs, etc. Say what you will about Apple, but their products work well (aside from a few hiccups here and there – e.g., antennagate).

T-Mobile is going down like the Titanic. It’s gotten to the point that any carrier that doesn’t offer the iPhone is like a car without music player. Sorry, it is what it is.

And this is coming from a guy with a Samsung Vibrant, a phone that I really like. However, my next phone will be the iPhone 5 or 6, whether ti’s on T-MO or not. I really hope that T-MO gets its head out of its @$$, but I have absolutely no confidence in their leadership anymore. Heck, they’re practically begging AT&T to buy them!

Well if tmobile isn’t getting any iPhone, they better bring on the high end phones. It’s 3 on 1.

  • I can’t lie, I don’t plan on buying an iPhone in the near future but just being a lover of all things tech I had high hopes for this keynote today but seriously..what a disappointment! I know common consumers will look at this and think I’m a Apple hater which I am not at all, all I buy are Mac products computer-wise but the tech geeks like me reading this (whether an Apple fan or Apple hater) has to agree with me..iPhone 4s is just an iPhone 4 with new features(some not even useful..I mean that card app?! seriuosly?), a new chip(which was actually the one bright spot of the whole keynote) and a new carrier but still the same phone with the same decade old technology.

I was expecting an iPhone 5 announcement too, what a let down today. oh well Google and Samsung have their turn on Oct 11th I’ll be interested to see what they bring to the table – I actually have plans of buying the Nexus.

Haha lmao well all I can do is laugh at the iPhone Android haters because out of all the hype about the new iPhone its only an upgrade to the iPhone 4 but its 4S with an upgrade inside and the other news is that Sprint will be getting it. So haha guess people will be moving onto Android alot more now and the Nexus Prime will kill the iPhone 4S I guess until maybe next year when they might announce the iPhone 5 :p

So my vote is definitely is a NO because I am a commited player to the Android team:)

    • Jordan Huett

      so an android fanboy?

    • Anonymous

The i4S can’t possible do as well as the iP4 did cuz the average Joe don’t give a S**t that it now  has a dual core cpu in it.  There’s nothing new about it aside from that that would appeal to the masses so yeah, Android will continue to grow while iOS simmers a lil bit for the rest of the year.

I could imagine at least half of iPhone buyers wanted a bigger screen finally.Question is, where is the iPhone 5?

ofcourse there is no iphone for tmobile att probably lobbied apple to keep it from tmobile so they can go to the govt and say look tmobile keeps loosing customers if this keeps up they will need to go bankrupt. they know if tmobile had the iphone equipped with an 80$ unlimited plan and the not as strict credit requirements tmobile might of lead the way in iphone sales

I think Apple still have an ace up its sleeve..they wonna have the last word on this. My guess is they will release an iPhone 5 after Google release their monster ICS Nexus. Probably it maybe due to strategy or assembly problems that’s why we did not see an iPhone 5 today. But i think there is an iPhone 5 still in production to be released by Xmas holiday or early next year…time will tell.

    • J-Hop2o6

They just announced iP4S, what else can they add w/o totally changing iOS? They only thing I see is atleast a 4″ screen, and thats about it.. the start of the downfall of iPhone?

  • Bhaynes9

it would depend on whether it was the iPhone 5 or not. i don’t know who is going to pay that much for an iPhone 4S for two years while they wait for the next iPhone 5 in 6 months if not sooner.

We already knew T-Mobile wasn’t getting the iPhone since March.  The only thing to be mad at is T-Mobile doesn’t have any great new phones to offset this new iPhone for customers.  The November 2nd phones won’t cut it.  I know its a while but if you guys can wait until the AT&T/T-Mobile deal is done its gonna be the best thing you have ever seen product wise with being the #1 carrier.

    • Zifnab2k

oh you forgot the much weaker battery and 256 mb ram compared to the 1 gig found on android phones definately nothing to talk about the iphone 4s is supposed to boast the latest tech apple has which is a 1530 mAH Li-on battery compared to the GSII 1850 mAH or the bigger screens notice how apple conveniently left these “little” details out on thier spec chart?

      • 21stNow

I’m not an iPhone fanatic; I actually prefer Android.  However, I have to give it to Apple on battery life.  Apple doesn’t need the ultra-high capacity batteries in iPhones because iOS uses the battery more efficiently that Android does.

While using the phones, battery drainage is similar between an iPhone and an Android phone.  However, when both phones are idle, an Android phone will use its battery much faster than an iPhone. Android has many background tasks that don’t shut off properly when the phone is in standby.  This is why task killers became so popular for Android.  However, task killers are almost unheard of for iOS.  If the users shuts down a task on an iPhone, it doesn’t magically start up again, like it can in Android.

    • PhantomWraith

oh you forgot the much weaker battery and 256 mb ram compared to the 1 gig found on android phones definately nothing to talk about the iphone 4s is supposed to boast the latest tech apple has which is a 1530 mAH Li-on battery compared to the GSII 1850 mAH or the bigger screens notice how apple conveniently left these “little” details out on thier spec chart?

  • Jad

Will this be compatible with Tmobile 3G/4G

  • PassforNow

With the specs of the new iPhone 4S, I’ll pass.

  • DRO1D

iPhone was at one time a game-changer. The iPhone 4S is the perfect example of how they are running out of ideas of their own. All these “top secret ground-breaking” advances can be found on current top-end Android phones. Even Steve Jobs bailed off that sinking ship.

    • Littlesis1774

that does not prove a thing about Apple.

  • Guest

Looks like the miracle didn’t happen. Hell, there wasn’t even an iPhone 5, just a 4s. The real question now is, would TMobile get the iPhone 5 (most likely next year) along with all the other carriers? Or will it disappoint once again?

  • Considering I’m one of the screwees with the G2X, just a phone that works as advertised would be an improvement.

    • Jabombardier

i had hiccups with mine after gingerbread came but i resolved them. so my G2X is a keeper

  • anonymous

I’m so disappointed that T-Mobile will not have the iPhone and will be switching companies with all of my other friends.it’s not right how sprint,at&t,and Verizon is about to.get the iPhone 4s and were not because T-Mobile dose not want it. Just because some people don’t want the iPhone doesn’t me some of us don’t ethier so I’m switching companies and know hate T-Mobile

  • Anonymous

LOL @ David & his iPhone 4s, LOL!!!!!!! Apple is ripping people off.

    • Littlesis1774

Now thinking back I don’t remember any mention of iphone 5 back March. I think people including myself jumped the gun and just assume it was the iphone 5. Now thinking of it back when the rumors about iphone being tested on T-mobile I think Apple stated iphone 4s not iphone 5

  • fsured

Apple chooses who they want to sell their products to.  It’s foolish to really believe that TMO doesn’t want this phone or didn’t try to get it in their handset offerings knowing the huge demand for it.

What would be nice is for the company to once again say publicly that they expressed their interest to sell the product and Apple said no.  Put the blame on Apple publicly to help put out the wild fire that can happen.  Let Apple explain to the TMO customers why they think their service provider doesn’t qualify to sell their products.

    • Littlesis1774

To be completely honest with you I don’t think it was Apple. Apple always said that their phones on all networks. One kinda way it is because T-Mobiles in Europe all have the iphone not to mention ipad 2 just T-mobile USA that don’t. T-mobile was stupid with their stupid commercials making fun of the iphone which probably turn Apple off T-mobile USA. T-mobile USA never once took a interest on the phone even after admitting that over one million customers are iphone users. I can tell you that T-mobile has no chance of competing against Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. Sprint and Verizon will have to lower their prices in order gain very disappointed T-mobile customers who will probably pay the early termination fees. As of right now their only competition is probably Metro PCS or Boast Mobile.

      • Ov3rl0rdl

The Tmo in Europe runs on the same bands as ATT does in the States if I remember correctly. So to integrate over there should be effortless for Apple. If I am wrong, please correct me.

        • Jabombardier

          you are correct.

guys, all the specs on this phone have already been seen. right now, apple is playing catch up. I will never stress out over an iphone. if it comes to tmobile, it will be another one in the basket. like the CMO said, it is up to apple. If apple is against magenta for the ads against att, they should understand it is all about business. one thing i know for sure is that tmobile will carry the iphone soon or later. Guys, just be patient.

  • Bennyto7

I’m very happy with my g2x, smooth, fast, shinny, portable hot spot, everything you need in the palm of my hand. I have an ipad 2 wifi and I surf on the web faster with my g2x as a modem than the ipad 2 3g. My friend has an iphone and he can’t use it as a modem. Too bad.

  • Showtime8

No way in  Hades would I buy  a iPhone! There are so many other great  choices and  so little time….

  • Silk7412

    Boo hoo
No iphone 5 only iphony4sssss( say it fast)

This is why I like android phone. If there’s hipe – it’s most likely true!!!

  • News

I read through the press release on the 4s. The big news is the lower priced 3gs (free with contract) for the masses. That should bring in quite a few subs who wouldn’t pay the big bucks for a recognized smart phone. It’s hard to stop such momentum, and maybe that’s why Google bought Moto.

As far as AWS, won’t the 4s be on some carrier with these frequencies? I wouldn’t pay $600 for any unlocked phone, but I bet some of the iPhone users on T might, especially with the new $30 Wal-Mart “unlimited” data plans and HSPA+.

  • My2Cents

No Iphone for me thanks.  The screen is just too small and they’re are running behind with their HSPA+ 14.4.  Carriers are moving on to 21 and 42.  Plus I though it was hilarious that my sister was asking how to use Gmail on her Iphone.  Just cut out the middle man and go direct I say.

  • I would buy it instantly, and am so sick of waiting it is not even funny. I hate how Apple will build GSM and CDMA into a phone, but not the 1700MhZ BAND! IT FRUSTRATES ME TO NO END! I want an iPhone so bad, but I am not giving up 3G to purchase an unlocked one, and sure as hell not giving up my amazing T-Mobile plan for AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon.

    • macman37

Blame the Federal Communications Commission {FCC} for taking a long time in saying, “AT&T will not be permitted to acquire and use T-Mobile’s frequency bands to expand their future 4G LTE service.”  The sooner they deny this acquisition, the sooner Apple gets a CLEAR green light to build an iPhone that includes T-Mobile’s frequency bands {ex: 1700 AWS}.  Until then, T-Mobile USA, their subscribers, and their shareholders suffer as most people who want an iPhone leave for another wireless carrier.

    • conservative_motorcyclist

what pisses me off the most is http://www.bgr.com/2011/04/23/exclusive-apple-testing-iphone-4-for-t-mobile-usa/ That is the N94 = iPhone 4S that just went on sale. They did it just to shit on T-Mobile. The support is there!

Google Android is about a year ahead of the game in phone hardware and about to pass apple in overall OS integration and user experience with ICS. Still have a way to go in total eco system because of Apples’s massive third party support.

Bring on Windows Phone 7. Make T-Mobile the best company to be with on every other platform BUT I-Phone!   I am sure there are plenty of folks in the Corporate Offices of Google, Microsoft, and Nokia that would love to help T-Mobile show their products well as all the other carriers showcase the Apple product.

Maybe those of us who would prefer tmobile stay intact realize that offering iPhone would result in additional customers and profit.
Should be a mental illness to take a cell phone so personally.

      • Tortionist

While the I-phone would help T-mobile, it wouldn’t be able to save them. I think that T-mobile’s biggest downfall is their lack of marketing.

  • Mahmoud Shaaban

I have to be honest I like apple’s hardware but iOS is horrible i can’t stand it, android is the best operating system there is. Apple puts time and effort into creating their hardware which i like but they are always behind in bringing new technology into their products especially the iPhone.

  • Neoprimal

I would not. I think the hardware has finally caught up to Android in terms of consisting of a dual core processor, not sure about RAM but IOS is not super RAM intensive anyway (no optional widgets or constant animation on the screen like is possible with Android) etc.
I’m hardcore in the fact that I don’t like IOS and I love the Amazon App store and GetJar :)

T-Mobile does not need the iphone, and will make it without it.  I don’t think people will leave, just to pay more, get worse slower data speeds, pay more, or pay more.  Did I say pay more?  Just to get the iphone.

T-Mobile is fine without it.  I really don’t see why this is still a topic for T-Mobile.  It is not happening…lol.  Let it go.  Forget about the iphone, or you are gonna miss out on what you have in front of you. (BB9900, GSII, Amaze, Radar…etc.)

APPLE MAKES MORE MONEY BECAUSE NOT HAVE A CONTACT WITH T-MOBILE, PEOPLE WALK INTO T-MOBILE EVERYDAY WITH A $599 IPHONE OR $699 UNLOCKED I PHONE. APPLE RECEIVE STRAIGHT REVENUE. COMPARED TO $200 BUCKS ON A CONTRACT. WHY DEAL WITH A CONTRACT WHEN OVER A 1.5 MILLION PEOPLE USE AN IPHONE ON T-MOBILE.COM NOT TO MENTION THOSE WHO LEFT AT&T WITH THE IPHONE TO GO TO T-MOBILE. APPLE HONESTLY ISN’T DUMB. THEY REALIZE WHAT GOING ON AND THEY KNOW IF THEY DON’T GET T-MOBILE A PHONE, IT HELPS THEM MAKE MORE FOR THEIR UNLOCKED VERSIONS. THE ONLY WAY I SEE AN IPHONE OFFICIALLY GOING TO T-MOBILE IS IF APPLE MAKES A 4G 21MBPS OR 42MBPS PHONE FOR T-MOBILE TO CAPTURE ALL THE BENEFITS OF THE NETWORK. IPHONE 5 LET’S SEE WHAT YOU DO. BECAUSE WITH PHONES LIKE THE AMAZE AND GALAXY S 2 WHO CARES ABOUT THE IPHONE. IT JUST BE A FAD FOR THE APPLE USERS.

I WORK FOR T-MOBILE AND EVERY COMES IN AND SAYS ” WHEN ARE YOU GUYS GETTING AN IPHONE” ITS LIKE WALKING IN TO A CAR DEALERSHIP AND FINDING A FASTER WITH MORE FEATURES FOR THE SAME PRICE AS A SLOWER CAR WITH LESS FEATURES WHICH ONE WOULD YOU WANT.

Who needs it when you have the g2x, its everything you could ever had wanted and more…..at lease for me. Its faster, better camera, ( im using g2xtreme rom which is 2.3 but still uses 2.2 camera ) looks better, feels better in hand, can hold it anyway you like while you talk, with or without a case on it, HDMI mirroring while charging. And yes i had problems but after i  received my new unit back in April it has never had any problems at all. I’m not even interested in the nexus prime, besides I still have my sexy nexy that I use as a secondary..Still haven’t found a phone that by passes g2x, just ones that are as good…….BAM

I would not be surprise if someone hacks it unto T-mobile 3gs

  • Wait, so Apple can build GSM and CDMA into one phone, but they can’t add the 1700 band for T-Mobile 3G? WTF

  • The app market economy has always intrigued me, but being practical, after the 3G, the phone passed its time.  I have always itched to get an iphone or ipad, and the argument used to be, it’s not on t-mobile.  Now the argument is, it’s specs on the new version no longer innovates.  It just meets what is already standard.  The 4G was supposed to be the next big thing that android had to catch up to.  Instead it ended up being similar to my G2x which has been out about half a year.  I really would like to see WP7 take off since MS has the money and power to get exclusive deals for content and vendor support.  Would love to see a new Apple buck the Jobs trends now and just innovate.  I mean, you only make one phone and it takes a year and a half to make it.  In that time you can hire extra programmers to make it work with flash and make it more friendly for open source devs like XDA and make more standard interfaces and APIs instead of proprietary.  So I guess I hope the new Apple can find a way to make the same great products, but more in line with other companies, but without going bankrupt this time.  There’s no steve jobs or bill gates to bail you out this time.
