Video Hands On With The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II

Since our first real change to get a look at the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II was interrupted by plastic casing we’re happy that this time some video hands on is at our disposal. There is no question we’ve been eager to get a hands on with the GSII and this afternoon’s announcement pushed our desire to finally see a video hands on of the phone over the edge. So enjoy the videos courtesy of the folks from Engadget and IntoMobile and relax in the knowledge that all the waiting ends come October 10th when you can get your pre-order in.

loving that HUGE 1850 mAH battery!

    • Idgaf

So the battery life will be good?

      • None

Yeah as long as the phone is powered off!!!! (pss- Android…)

        • Tbyrne

Not true! Newer phones better in that area. Apps for that also.

      • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

considering the battery life has been stellar on both the S3 Snapdragons and Exynos, yes this phone’s battery life will be amazing.  Especially with the biggest battery out of all the GSII’s.

  • Mikestevens21

    I want this phone.

    • J-Hop2o6

Me too! I was on edge about the A8-Snapdragon/S3 instead of the A9-Exynos processor, and the slightly bigger 4.5″ screen.. but damn, this thing is just as smooth as its Exynos equipped brothers.. So i’ll deal with the slightly weaker processor until my next Android phone with a SAMOLED+ screen.. And I really like the things Samsung added in TouchWiz 4 that Stock Android doesn’t have.

anyone knows if the GALAXYS2 for TMO has FM radio and CAR BLUETOOTH capability? My SENSATION sucks with no bluetooth for car

    • minhajmsd

Don’t know about fm radio but it has car bluetooth

  • Oscar Dominguez

This is a solid device, by far the best Galaxy S II (IMO). Can’t wait for it !

Swear the only thing stopping me from jumping on this beast is the unveiling of Ice Cream Sandwich.  Just like the Vibrant with FroYo, I want to hear out of Samsung’s mouth (and T-Mobile’s preferably) that this thing will get updated in a timely fashion.

After reading this article about SuperAMOLED HD ( ), I’m able get past the screen tech.

    HURRY UP GOOGLE!!

    • Auser72

Good article. Makes me feel a little better about not waiting on nexus prime

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BY5HIABJIUQHWZND3FEEJTR64E KG

Don’t mean jack what the carrier/mfr says about updates, I have learnt my lesson with the Vibrant and will go with stock only from now on.

So I will be waiting patiently for Nexus Prime.

      • Anonymous

Exactly what lesson did you learn from the Vibrant?  Samsung publicly announced that it would get FroYo and it did.  I never for a second thought it would get updated to GB and you really can’t blame em.

If Samsung or TMO says that the GSII will get ICS, then it will get ICS.

Thx for the link. Very informative, even tho when I read “SAMOLED HD” (w/o the +/Plus), I knew that meant previous SAMOLED generation with the Pentile matrix (yuk!), and not the normal RGB thats in SAMOLED+.. So we have to wait another year until SAMOLED+ HD gets manufactured & demoed. =(

So basically Pentile maxtrix @ qHD (540p) is still basically WVGA (480p).. So 720p or 800p will actually be lower (sub-pixel wise) than whats advertised.

  • Rjscott2005

I’ll go there- does this phone have a working and usable GPS?

    • M7

      Yes it does.

  • Meatballs

I am not sure to go and get this, or should i wait for the nexus prime??=[

Does not look as snappy as the exynos versions. Highly disappointed.

    • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

yes it is as snappy as Exynos, your disappointment is unfounded. “I” don’t trust you lol

      • Anonymous

So you’ve used a T-Mobile galaxy s2? I haven’t either but I have the sprint epic touch and I can honestly tell you from the videos that its not as fluid . Sorry to hurt your feelings sparkles

        • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

well maybe you should get your eyes checked (don’t)trust, that screen is just as fluid as the other GSII’s.  but yeah, somebody like you could never hurt my feelings mr.Toxic.  ; D

        • Anonymous

Again sorry for the hurt feelings.

Again, none at all you ignorant fool. Hmmm, I guess your mother had no sense to teach you manners, all she did was raise an insulting coward such as yourself. = D  Haters gonna hate lol

        • Anonymous

Lmao. Are you speaking of yourself? I just stated my opinion. I obviously tapped into some type of emotion with my comment. Once more, sorry to hurt your feelings homie. I guess I’m a hater?

        • http://twitter.com/_VivaaLaCarlos Shayne Carlos

i disagree, after watching the epic touch video it seems to be a bit more choppy than the tmo gs2. i really dont care about the processor, long as its fluid and stable.

        • Cct Pitts01

I don’t know what videos you have been watching that you claim that the Epic 4g is choppy. Are you serious? 1) they finally showed a video of the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 and the guy seemed to be gingerly navigating around the device as if scared he may show us there is lag present with the Snapdragon processor. For all of us with rooted Sensations and 3Ds overclocked can tell you even bumping the processor up to 1.5 1.6 and some of us even getting 1.7 there is still some lag present. I’m going to need some hands on time before I can tell if it was a good move to go with the Snapdragon over the Exynos. Also all other bloggers out there have already attested to the fact that the Sprint and AT&T Galaxy S2 little to no Lag.

        • David Juarez

There is going to be some lag with EVERY phone out there.  Even computers with fast processors show some lag or freeze ups.  It’s all man-made meaning it is not perfect.  I think that the concept of fast is dependent on the user, but there is definitely bias that also defines what “lag” is.  This, I believe, is the effect that technological commercialism has implanted in our minds.  It has set the bar for us wanting more and more, that fast is never fast enough.  Basically my point is, that it is going to do what you think it should do.  If you are not happy with what you have you have time to return it and try something else.  Either way, 6 to 12 months later something “bigger” and “better” will pop up and make you “think” that what you have is obsolete.

I have seen ZERO noticeable lag in any Sprint or Tmo version.  These dudes are trippin.

Not to say that there is none but I havent seen any.

no it’s not.  it’s called reading news.  surely you don’t just browse the internet ignoring everything you don’t like?  no one does that.  i looked to see if it would impress me and just like always they don’t.

it’s called interest and not having a closed mind.  stop trying to be clever on the internet lol

So how exactly is this phone less impressive than oh say the Sensation?  I gotta hear this.

I’m all about speed and power and a great looking phone I think the chrome bezel makes it look more high end so far this is the best galaxy 2 out there it seems to be more brighter than the other galaxy’s 2 I love that the t mobile version has the biggest battery NFC Support With gingerbread 2.3.5 And let’s not forget 42mbps I’m still a little iffy about the processor But watchin the guy play with the phone it seems really fast If I’m not mistaken The t mobile version haves the highest benchmark I’ve seen yet Also I’ve been hearing htc and samsung are going to use the same processors for 4 their upcoming phones so that means this processor must be really fast clock at 1.5 I’m not going to lie I was mad that t mobile chain the samsung processor but looking at everything al’s the phone is looking perfect I’m sorry t mobile for doubting you I’m just happy I didn’t go to sprint and I’m still with t mobile I think we need to trust t mobile more and let them do their thing they’re trying their best to make us happy and bring us better high end phones and tablets :-) :-) :-)(

Tha htc sensation is a crappy phone. It lags alot and it send u to mobile websites even when u take it off mobile view. It’s slippery in tha hand. I think tha galaxy s2 will be good with tha new processor in it. It’s not going to be as good as exynos 1.2 thou.

    • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

Sensation is not crappy, I don’t think you even own it.  Mine is fast as can be especially with the last update.

I have notice with updates on phones r just a big problem. I don’t think a lot of these phones can handle updates like the nexus phone can. My girl has the mytouch 4g and she got the gingerbread update. It screwed up her phone bad. My friend has the motorola droid x and got the gingerbread update, and it screwed his phone up bad. Ithink these phones r not made to update. It’s just best to accept what software u get when u buy a phone.

  • Frigadroid

“best to accept what software you get when you buy a phone”
This should be the rule when considering buying samsung phones, if you dont plan to root you shouldn’t be expecting timely updates. No matter what you hear the proof is in past performance and samsung and all the carriers have shown its not on the priority list.

  • Jdw97702

anyone have any quadrant scores for this phone? Just curious how it does against the other versions.

  • Kal

Just wondering if they are going to make existing customers wait for a couple of weeks before taking their order. This is what happens with almost any anticipated phone at tmobile. New customers are given preference and others are told to wait.

    • Reginald K Warner II

REALLY? Which T-mobile are you going to? I’ve never heard of anything like that. I would think would be going after the sale. Especially with existing customers coming back to extend their contract in light of the whole ATT thing. If a T-Mobile rep ever told me that I would have to wait because I’m already with them, I think that might be the push I need to leave them.

      • james

dudes ….. seriously….. no company in the world would make their existing customers WAIT to purchase a HOT device….. every one has the same opportunity to PURCHASE any phone…. the key word is purchase……if you r in a contract and are not ready for an upgrade (discount price)  that isnt T-mobiles fault….. how ever you can always buy the phone…. it pisses me off when people arent willing to buy great phones…. they are not free to make people! they are high end devices and come with a respectable cost…. if you are not willing to purchase your phone, than you should have one!!!!!!!!!

  • Jstoned12

mod your phone dont wait for them…..

  • Ericnspace

WOW! i really want this phone ;) HOWEVER, can someone please explain to me the difference in between screens of this and the SGS2 HD LTE? is the pixel density the only difference? or is it only super AMOLED and not super AMOLED+ like this one? :) will it look a deal better?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001409283013 Ilan Cortes

“Galaxy S2 HD LTE is the world’s first HD Super AMOLED-equipped smartphone. Samsung has used the HD branding because the phone is packed with 1280 x 720 resolution on a 4.65 inches screen.”

  • Anonymous

I saw this phone on NCIS last night.  It was huge!  Can’t wait to get a screen that big.

    • phoenix

Are u getting this phone Pimp Strong?

      • Anonymous

Im willing to get the GSII but only if the Prime isnt coming our way. If Google says that there will be a TMO Nexus this year then I will wait. Otherwise, Id be happy with this. Honest!

        • phoenix

See, I’m in the same boat with u, the thing is, I’m so used to swype that I don’t think I can do without it. The nexus s doesn’t have swype (which confused me-it’s a samsung made phone) and so I assume that the Prime won’t have it either. My heart is really on the Prime, but like u, this phone here is a great welcome.

  • Dude Lebowski

I think the international version looks better. This version looks like a bunch of phones AT&T already had. T-mo gets the FAIL from Samsung! The Sensation, Droid 3, Nexus S and my white iPhone4 gets the “wow” from me. Nothing else thus far.

I recommend not buying this phone…
