Video Hands On With The HTC Amaze 4G

While T-Mobile introduced the HTC Amaze 4G early in the afternoon it wasn’t until the evening that their special event gave way to hands on demos and videos galore. If you’ve been itching to get a look at the hardware, software and everything in between the folks at Engadget, This Is My Next and IntoMobile are happy to oblige with some video goodness. The hardest decision in your mobile life right isn’t which video you should watch first, but which of two phones you are going to break open the piggy bank for next month.

So I guess this means that the Sensation is no longer Sensational… :(

Really? I have zero lag/loading when I hit home button. From any app internet etc. Hmmm…something must be wrong. Only time I ever get lag is if I scroll down fast in the market screen.

Well just called tmo since this is my 2nd phone they tried to get me to take a brown G2x I was like uhhh unless u wanna give me a great deal on the upcoming amaze, lol… So theyre sending me a.replacemnt (a refurbished one with someone elses finger cheese all over it probably)

        • DetroitTechnoFan

I’ve had phones replaced with refurbs and they *appear* completely new. Screen stickers and all.

  • Which way is Up?

I’m definitely picking this up the week of 10/10… I loved my Sensation, especially after the update however I do hope they fixed any antenna issues with the Amaze…

Who’s doing the interview in the first clip? Pee Wee Herman?

    • Solarleox

LMAO – your comment made me want to watch the video, but I think its like a cross between Pee Wee and Kermit

“Battery life will last well over a day.” :O, Ok ok….. so we’re finally noticing that issue & working our way up, huh? I see….

  • Milicalen

Didn’t quite understand if there were pitching a camera or a mobile phone

  • The Architect(of the Matrix)

In the words of seth from super bad “Im gettin’ that fo sho” lol..

Seriously though im really impressed with device, from the form factor, to the high end specs.. the only decision left for me, is whether to get the black(color) or the white(color)..

    l.e.d. notification ftw!!!

This is a nice upgrade to my touch 4g my touch 4g is still fast with Android. 2.3.4

  • Spanky

Looks like an impressive handset, but not enough to be considered an upgrade from the Sensation, which I love. I’m waiting for the Nexus Prime.

    • sensation FTW

Word. Love my sensation. Would like that quick launch camera feature but def not enough to upgrade yet.

  • Meagan

I didn’t see the WiFi Calling app in the app drawer.  Uhhhh-mazing.

  • Droidsoup

why don’t you get the 5gb or 10gb plan then

    • DetroitTechnoFan

I’m still on old school data with NO cap or throttle point. I could tether all damn day on this thing!

      • szl

I may be wrong, but I think on the older plan, they throttle your speed after 5GB. I have an older unlimited plan, and it warns me that 5GB is approaching and my speed will slow down when I check my usage. I haven’t hit the 5GB yet. The closest I’ve gotten was 4.99GB. lol

        • Bobvilla

depends on how old your plan is. I don’t get throttled either. ;)

Same here.. I accidentally had google music streaming all the way from OKC to Dallas one day.. forgot to switch it to offline mode. I used 2gb in one day! Amazingly, I kept a data signal..

I honestly think that this is better than the tmos gs2.

  • da9th_one

    no beats…??? ill pass…

  • Frankvallynot

HTC amaze or Samsung galaxy s II
same specs gsII has a better battery but knowing Samsung I will probably never c ICS n since they put 1gb of ram on the amaze there shouldn’t b any lag even though the UI kills the ram uuuggghh tough decision :/

  • Drewan8

the battery life will be the key point versus the sgs2. heard the sensation had crappy battery life so will wait till we get some reviews

  • Ohgeez10

I work for TMO and when I got into work today, I was surprised to see that our store’s AMAZE was in. I spent the rest of the evening playing with this phone and I LOVE it.

Felt great in the hand, loved the physical video and camera button, and to be honest, felt like the perfect size phone.

On our phone, I didn’t notice any lag.

I’m now waiting for the SGII to show up and do my own comparisons before I make my purchase. I take lots of pics an videos and having the ability to launch immediately scored big points with me.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 and I personally like SENSE better than TOUCHWIZ. It just seems like a more polished UI.
