T-Mobile’s September “All Hands Day” Another Day Of Steep Discounts, New Mobile Broadband Product?

While a number of sites have seriously mistaken our story as “evidence” that I am suggesting the iPhone 5 is the cause for this meeting, that isn’t actually the case. For the record, that “suggestion” came in the same sentence as saying T-Mobile found water on mars so I would have hoped that it would have been taken with a little more ambiguity.

As it turns out, the sale is pretty much in line with exactly what we would expect from these “all hands days” given previous sales under the same purview. Current rumors and intel put this as another smartphone sale with most T-Mobile smartphones priced around $100 after rebates of $50, $100 or $200 depending on the overall value of the device.

One extra rumor we are hearing is the introduction of a mobile hotspot device that works on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42Mbps network. That is likely to be the only new product introduction during this special sale as we still have no indication devices like the Samsung Galaxy S II or HTC Ruby have been moved up.

More importantly, let’s hope that T-Mobile recognizes once again that this deal should be available for both qualifying upgrades along with new and add-a-line customers. We’re digging for more info and we’ll bring it to you as soon as we can get our hands on it!

I told ya’ll it wasnt an Iphone 5. At this point tmobile isnt getting the Iphone 5… they are going to stick with the samsung sg2 phone with that ugly UI thats an exact copy cat of IOS. Don’t mean to burst your bubble, but I have a feeling the iphone 5 is only going to sprint, att, and verizon

Deep down, most ppl knew this promo didn’t involve the iphone, but u can’t knock wishful thinking. It would be nice if tmo got it soon. I don’t understand why tmo wouldn’t carry it. We all know Apple is bossy, but tmo isn’t in the position to decline carrying the iphone. Tmo would make a killing with the iphone!

If that the case then no iphone for T-mobile then I will be cancelling my contract going to Verizon. T-Mobile been struggling for about five years. They are losing customers left and right. T-mobile customers been waiting patiently and they had enough

Does TmobileUSA really think customers will be lining up, given no notice or hype, except promotion by an occasional tweet, facebook post or banner ad?

    • ColdFeet

It’s still a bit early and maybe they’ll market it correctly but I can totally see T not doing much marketing for this and expecting it to be huge.

BS. Just admit that that was your first speculation and move on. We all know how badly you want the iPhone on Tmobile, and that is fine, but don’t try to act like you were not seriously speculating it. Now if you wanted to say that speculation regarding the possibilty of it being about the AT&T takover bid was ” in the same sentence as saying T-Mobile found water on mars”, then you’d at least be honest.

Doesn’t T-Mobile already have a mobile hotspot device that supports 42 Mbit/s? The Rocket 3.0 if I’m correct. Correct me if i’m wrong.

T-Mobile will not get the iphone while they are trying to get a deal with ATT.  T-mobile will not compete against ATT at this point.  The deal with ATT has to be denied first before T-Mobile can even think about getting the iphone.

    • Nearmsp

I agree. Much as we are hoping to get iPhone 5 so we can stay with the network most of us have been in for years, more likely than not the decision to take GS2 or iPhone 5 on Sprint or Verizon is coming soon. If the iPhone 5 looks anything like the “artists rendering” of the device on Macrumors web site, the decision will be easy for me.

I think part of the reason people took your joke about the iphone 5 so seriously is because evidence of water has actually been found on mars recently (I’m HUGELY into Astronomy by the way :D ).  Here’s the links:

Now I want to know what kind of deals will be held on this day.  Reason being that I wonder if Off Contract prices will be lower also?  I know it’s HIGHLY unlikely but I can hope for a better world.

I feel a dud coming! I can’t imagine a free MT4G or $50 Galaxy S is going to drive much business. They missed the back to school window and even casual consumers know most companies launch the cool stuff in a couple months right in time for the holidays.

Just read on Bloomberg, that Sprint will be the only provider providing unlimited data on their iphone plans next month. They have also postponed a 4G competing device to keep the space open for iPhone 5 sales. I never thought I might go to Sprint one day. But I might just move 2 of my family smart phones on to Sprint.  As 6 year BB user, either GS2 or iPhone 5 will do. I am hoping the device on Sprint is dual CDMA/GSM so that i can use it when overseas. I still am hoping T-mobile gets the iPhone 5. If GS2 had come a couple of months back, I probably would have locked in. It will be hard to resist the option of iPhone now that networks other than AT&T and expensive Verizon offer it.

this is all tmobile’s trick to fool those who dont know about new devices. on that day they wil give discount on galaxys4g, the g2x and mytouch 4g, all for $100 with 2 year new contract, but they are old device, eysterday   at tmobile store, i saw someone with g2x phone, he said he gave it $150  with new 2 year contract, he was bragging me about how this phone is brand new and the latest android phone., i told him this phone came about almost 2 yrs ago, he said no, it came just last week and that was told  to him by the store rep, lol

    Damn! Damn! Damn! James!

If this holds true, great! (hope for an iPhone, there was discovery of proof of water, but I think someone already spotted that)…

Won’t drive sales to new folks, but it will get the loyalists in….who want a new device, but won’t drive sales uber high….  While the devices are good, T mobile really needs to revamp long term strategy…bring back the ‘give away the device away’ (pay tax and activation).

    • DreamOfElise

T-mobile, for far too long, was a small competitor. Now that we are a “big fish” we need to stop giving things away for free. It sets all the wrong expectations and causes people to feel entitled to things. People need to learn that if we want our network to compete with the other “big fish”, we have to put money into it and not expect handouts.

      • JT

Finally someone with some sense.  All I ever read is people complaining about this and that or I’m not getting this for free.  I have checked Sprint and Verizon and to get the same plan it’s about 50% higher.  Looks to me that Tmobile is the only one to have incredible deals especially their rate plans

you get a discounted rate plan lol would be nice to have both though

      • Fred Jacobs

Lol it’d be nice, but not gonna happen. They need to make money somehow.

Someone on the Tmobile forums posted the other day why it won’t happen probably :
With 33,000, 000 customers, they pulled in about $1, 200,000, 000 last year. Big numbers but when you break that down it’s between $30-40 per person per year. Figure they give you an extra $100 off on a phone and they’ve just gone from making $40 off a customer over a year to losing $60.

    • derek 21

This offer is most likely for new and existing customers just like the buy one get one and the fathers day promotion, existing customers won’t be left out tmobile selling smartphones at 100.00 after rebate isn’t necessarily going to entice the amount of new customers a change of scheduling for employees would need!

Here is a really good question, I seem to have lost track when they shuffled their plans again for no damn good reason. What happened to the Even More Plus Plans? You used to be able to sign up for those no questions asked, and it was a regular account… I am going to assume they are going to call their new promos on the 24th… “Even More Classic Plus and Even More More Value Plus Plus” Also they will announce that they have updated their BlackBerry Bold 9900 for better reception and now it will say 4G+H+3G+3.5G= ..|.. bars of reception… AT&T PLEASE WRITE A BIGGER CHECK TO THE GOV AND SAVE US!

Might be a big way to get even more plus customers to go into those 2 year value plans by offering the free upfront cost for any phone , then paying off the rest over 20 months.

Sad that it’s not the iPhone. If Sprint gets the iPhone and T-Mobile doesn’t that would be pretty pathetic.

  • Nearmsp

This is my thinking. The iPhone 5 is released on 1st October. By now T-mobile knows for sure if they are getting or not. More likely they are not getting one. In that case, they want to push the GS2 with a deep discount and lock up their customers who are out of contract. So that makes me think, I would probably have to consider that option over a sprint iPhone 5 and take a decision do I lock myself in, or should I  go for sprint when the iPhone 5 comes.
