T-Mobile Nexus S Android 2.3.6 Update Now Available

A software update is now available for the Nexus S which brings with a host of “bug fixes and security patches.”The 17.5MB software is specifically hoping to address some of the handset’s tethering issues which have plagued Nexus S users for some time. Along with tethering fixes the update will include a patch that changes some of the NFC functions within the handset.

It’s a small but necessary update hoping to address some of the issues Nexus S owners have found troubling for some time. The update should only take a couple of minutes to kick in so set the phone down, grab a drink and come right back and tether away.

Where the hell is the Wallet update?

    • Derrickps3

what the hell is a wallet update? LOL

      • Warden Chinbach

It’s an Android update that let’s you use Google Wallet, which lets you just tap your phone against credit card readers and pay with any card or bank account you have.

What if I bought my Nexus S unlocked from Best Buy and with ATT, will I get the 2.3.6 update?

        • David McClellan

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t. Nexus phones get their updates even when not activated, so I don’t see why not.

          What you mean,NOT ACTIVATED???
I bought mine with contract on tmobile for 2 years as I have the unlimited 5GB then throttle after that BUT ITS UNLOCK,so I can use any GSM Sim anywhere in the world.
I got mine just yesterday, Saturday & EVERYTHING IS FINE AND BETTER.
I think the phone still need to be activated to any carrier and have internet – wifi or 3g to receive the OTA.

I got it on the unlocked version of the NS using T-MO for service, so I don’t see any reason you shouldn’t get it.

So much for a Nexus device meaning that a carrier couldn’t say what I did with my phone.

Just curious, Am I the only T-Mobile Nexus S  owner who has not been getting OTA updates? I’m still on 2.3.4

    • kresk

For some reason I never get updates to my NS either. So I just do it manually (been doing it that way since 2.3.2) which I executed this morning. It only took about five minutes.

turn on bg data along with wifi and you should get the update. im on TMO as well, just got it today

    • 21stNow

I thought that 2.3.4 was the latest version for the TMO NS.  I thought that 2.3.5 was for the Sprint Nexus S 4G only.

I didn’t get 2.3.3 OTA (or at all), but I got 2.3.4 OTA.  I don’t use my Nexus S now, but I will turn it on to get this update.

Good to know I’m not the only one that got the update on my Nexus One, I didn’t see anything on TmoNews or anywhere else. Why the hell did it take away my pinch-to-zoom in my gallery?!? But it fix some bug issues I was having…

  • Beshawn Soogrim

since i got this update i notice my nexus one turn off by itself at times …anyone notice this issue or is it just me ???

  • Joey

Can I change from 2.3.6 back to 2.3.4?

    • Qewbicle

No unless rooted. To keep root, move update to sdcard, use cwm flash update then flash super user before reboot. Update super user.

  • Jawshawa.P

will I lose all of my saved user data if I upgrade ?

    Fyi,
For me the 2.3.6 is the best update for fixing all bugs.
Scrolling is much faster and more smoother.
Internet Web browsing is much faster.
Every single aspects like wifi, tethering and 3g are all more ok.
The yellowish screen is not like in 2.3.4, its almost like when I had the 2.3.3.
To make it short, NO PROBLEM AT ALL…
IM TESTING MY NEXUS S SINCE SATURDAY AND EVERYTHING IS FINE…
    THANKS GOOGLE…
