(Update) T-Mobile Holding “Values Day 2011″ September 24th?

Update: We’ve been told by trusted sources that “Values Day 2011″ is an annual event/internal program used to boost employee morale. However, it doesn’t change our belief that the promotion itself taking place on the 24th is still a Value-plan based promotion.

We’re still guessing at what exactly T-Mobile has in store for their “All Hands Day” on September 24th even so we’re receiving more and more notification that this will be another sale similar to T-Mobile’s previous Fathers Day and Valentines Day sales. Furthermore, we’re hearing that call centers are asking for overtime be used on September 24th giving us a bit of hope that this offer, whatever it may be will also involve fully qualified existing customers as well as new customers.

The image we’ve just obtained above leads us to further believe that we are looking at a one day sale possibly called “Values Day 2011.” Given that certain retail stores are receiving balloons without any sort of documentation as to when they are to be used allows us to assume that this somehow ties in with the rumored September 24th sale.

Here’s a little more food for thought as someone brought up an interesting possibility that this sale has been arranged in order to provide current and future T-Mobile customers with an amazing deal before the launch of the iPhone 4S/5. Without a lot of indications that the iPhone will arrive on T-Mobile this year it’s entirely possible that this deal is structured to provide T-Mobile customers with a big incentive to stick with Magenta. Obviously this is all theory and we don’t know what September 24th truly is nor do we know if it has anything to do with a possible launch/not launch on T-Mobile. Still, it’s food for thought.

The image we’ve just obtained above leads us to further believe that we are looking at a one day sale possibly called “Values Day 2011…@Mark:disqus I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use http://bit.ly/grab2136

I sure hope it is something worth all the hype. So many times they call for these all hands days and they are a bust for the store because they have not done any advertisements around it. By the time most customers hear about it, it is over.

    • Anonymous

So true, they need to be a advertising it now. You probably wont see commercial.

  • your lame

call centers offer overtime daily….dont be fooled

  • Surething

They are giving free mobile broadband devices out all day on classic and value plans. There will also be discounts on phones for new value plan customers as well. This is a one time offering

    • Phershey128

How do u know so much when no one else does @surething. Are u the person leaking the info.

  • Bubbbles

This is just another T-mobile attempt to lock people into two year contracts.  Same weak promotion as the previous sale that required call center OT and everybody sat around all day because it was a bust!

  • Meagan

I can’t wait to hear about new new value announcements…

    FREE selected mobiles.

New plans that sound like a better deal than last months plan?

50% off Unlimited Data plan for 3 months, throttled after 2gb, with voice plans of $59.99+.

*Offer for new customers or add-a-line, with 2 year agreement.

  • LTEstyles

This better not be T-Mobile’s way of saying “sorry we won’t be carrying the iPhone 5, but we do have great deals”. A lot of people will be pissed.

    • Tricky1124

      That’s exactly what it is.

    • Anonymous

A lot of people would just leave T-Mobile and go to Sprint for the iPhone since sprint is the second cheapest.

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/no6969el Noel Barcellos

Not everyone wants the iphone.  Its not like it just came out, a lot of people have been aware it started on AT&T and then to VERIZON etc.  Its not like there is going to be this surge of people that all of a sudden became interested in the iphone.

    • Tbyrne

You’ll be for sure you iphone troll!

    • trife

This IS what this is.  Sadly.

      Oh well.

ALL I can say is, After 8 years of been with T Mobile, I am only waiting to see if they are going to offer the I Phone, If Not, It’s either Sprint or Verizon, I am tired of been a loyal on time paying Customer, and I feel like I have gotten the shaft and deep.

    • Tbyrne

Yeah I know! After paying the lowest prices in the industry for eight years, they shafted you. Just go to At&t or Verizon tomorrow and get your iPhone fix so you’ll quit whining on this site! Pathetic!

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/no6969el Noel Barcellos

I came to say the same thing.. thank you for saying it and confirming I’m not the only sane one here.

    • Jaygqitalia

Yeah man .. go to Verizon and pay 140 a month on what we pay either 59.99 or 79.99 for.

    • jarjon76

Want some cheese with that WHINE? Some of you folks are unreal–you want, want, want and expect to give nothing back in return. You want T-Mobile to pat you on the back because you’ve been “loyal”, yet you come in here whining about getting “the shaft and deep”. Go to Sprint or Verizon–that way you’ll stop whining in here and you can take your box of Kleenex to one of those carriers.

  • Jase

So does this mean all phones will be free?

  • Leeharrell

Stores have been told that the 24th has no connection to the iPhone.

Not getting the iPhone may very well result in Tmo hemmorhaging customers in Q1 of 2012.
This is likely a hail Mary to try to stem the churn at least a little.

  • alexx

why is everyone so obsessed with tmo getting the iphone? “ill leave if they dont get the iphone” stop being a baby and try buying a real phone that doesnt leave you bent over for apple.

    • Guest

      Ooooh green suits you.

    • ColdFeet

Because it’s a pretty hot phone? I think, if it (the latest version) ever came to T-Mobile, I’d get one. Why not? It’s a solid piece of equipment. If you get a decent Android device, you’ll have a decent Android experience. But it can be hit and miss and I’m getting tired of wondering what kind of issues my new phone’s gonna have and if it’s going to be updated.

I used to be anti iPhone. Why? Not sure. But if the new one comes out with the rumored bigger screen and it’s on T-Mobile, I think I’d buy one.

So this won’t cover anything new just exsisting stock?  When I say new I mean new WP7 mango devices or new tablets.

I want to see a Tmobile iPhone but while there were some initial rumors about that, all the attention now is on Sprint..which means Tmob would be the only major without an iphone5.  I wont make any decisions until I see how that all shakes out.  If I don’t get the iPhone then prob will sign with a minor company for a 45-50 buck unlimited plan

So, would more or less customers help the AT&T – T-mobile deal make it happen OR would more or less customers put the last nail in the deal not to happen.  If, sorry T-mobile it would still be a win-win for you with the $$ AT&T owes you, we just need to know which allows the deal to not make it. Whichever I would work hard at helping that to happen!

  • Jeff_express

Sale will be only on new value plan customers. new acts or upgrades with customers 18 months into contract. free phones or high end smartphones $99 after rebates.

  • Ohgeez

Our store recenetly received a boat-load of sensations and galaxy s4s. Something makes me think with the arrival of the galaxy sII, they are going to ty and get rid of all the GS4s. Best guess…..free on new acts….possibly upgrades as well.  As for all the sensations, not sure what to think about that. other than that, as an employee, I have no other clues.

  • TMOLOYAL

Values Day has nothing to do with a sale. It a day that T-Mobile and DT set aside each year for employees to recognizing the Values/Guiding Principles that T-Mobile is based on. This is the second year in a row that they have had this day of “Celebration”.

That is why it is called values day not value day.

    • Frank

lol Values and Principles from from T-Mo/DT. I hope that’s a joke!

That is actually reasonable. But then again? Do you work for T-Mobile?!? Can you tell me if the next iPhone is coming to T-Mobile?

      • TMOLOYAL

Yes I do and if it is they have not told me about it.

  • Rgdvii

This comment has nothing to do with this but I have was told by a tmobile teo that the samsung galaxy s2/hercules will come putt on oct 15

  • Jaygqitalia

Im on the even more plus plan. Id like for them to offer a phone free to people switching to value plan, like the sensation , and then id switch over. Ill sell the phone i got now and that will cover the payments id make over the next 20 months.

    • TonyJohns

Even better.  If they give EM+ customers merging over to the Value plans half off the initial deposit of the phone and waive the remaining balance of the phone. (So no 20 month EIP payments).  THEN I would switch over and the two year contract would be worth it.  I would probably get a Sensation 4G.

As per the rumors of the iPhone coming to Tmobile…make no mistake there will be an iPhone on Tmo shelvesas well as the shelves of the other big four carriers…maybe both versions iPhone 5 and 4S. The QUESTION i have for GOOGLE is are they ready…that is making sure the new NEXUS will also be on Tmo shelves to go toe to toe with what APPLE has been cooking. I am certain the Nexus will be a monster device in terms of specs and function…but is Google ready to cede any ground to Apple by giving them free will to roam Tmo shelves without any new Nexus to counter that. All the talk of exclusivity to Verizon even for a few months is non sense..those carriers who have stood shoulder to shoulder since the inception of the Nexus should have it from the get go. That means Magenta who has been there since the birth of Android and the Nexus should be have the ICS NEXUS from the jump. All of us rocking the N1 and NS on Tmobile are earger and waiting anxiously for the new Nexus…

Umm I don’t know where you’re getting your intel from, but there will be NO tmo iPhones launching in 2011.

      • Mimi

        You have no idea either.

How does it feel to be so wrong?  while people like YOU can speculate.  I actually KNOW what I am talking about.

The iPhone 5 will probably be the 4S

  • Jaygqitalia

I wonder how pissed people would be if they go and buy a phone on this day , and then find out 2 weeks later T-Mobile is getting the Iphone.

I know what it is, it’s the Day that Captain Planet signs on with Tmobile.  He will bring positive Values and Morals to DT.  Remember, THE POWER IS YOURS!!!

      LOL…Captain Planet!

    IPHONE/5 IS 3G NOT 4G SAD I KNOW..
CAMARA IS 8MP FRONT FACING IS 2MP
    THE SCREEN IS 4.5
INSTEAD OF BLACK AND WHITE IT’S GOING TO BE ALUMINUM (EWW)
ON SPRINT ITS 199.99 2YEAR CONTRACT

MY FRIEND WORKS FOR SPRINT THERE BEING TRAINED TO GET READY TO SELL IT. THATS HOW I KNOW. MAKES ME WANT TO GET SPRINT JUST CUZ ITS UNLIMITED DATA WITH NO THROTTLE BUT I LOVE T-MOBILE SO WILL SEE I HOPE T-MOBILE GETS IT TOO :D (CROSSING FINGERS)

    • Anonymous

Umm. All that information is pretty old already. And Aluminum is beautiful. And you don’t have to PUT YOUR WORDS IN CAPS LOCK for people to read it. Yes, it will be black and white. Just the front glass will be though, the back is strong aluminum, which gives the device a sturdier feel, and won’t smudge easily.

      • DIAMOND PRINCE

FIRST OF ALL I ALWAYS USE CAPS NOT FOR PPL TO READ IT. JUST CUZ I LIKE TO!! AND LIKE I SAID ALUMINUM EWW JUST LIKE YOUR FACE IM SURE. AND AS FOR THE INFO IM SURE MOST PPL DONT KNOW ABOUT IT, AND NOW THEY DO THANKS TO ME. SO INSTEAD OF BEING A NEGATIVE PERSON STFU..

        • BigMixxx

MANE (In my ‘Djay’ from Hustle and Flow voice).

Caps locks…people won’t read it.  The letter look jumbled together…

        • DIAMOND PRINCE

YOU PROVED YOUR SELF WRONG CUZ THERE CAPS AND YOU READ THEM!! REALLY SMART :/ HUSTLE AND FLOW MORE LIKE GRANDPA DOWN THE STREET!!

        • BigMixxx

          HAHA….Good one….

really, take the caps lock off.  That’s just not cool.  If your argument is profound enough with stated fact and evidence, people will read it….

Cuz went away in the eighties…..MANE! (still in my DJay voice)

While I don’t care for the HIGHLY overrated iphone, it would greatly benefit T-Mobile to carry it. I’m sure there are hurdles they have to clear–mainly the AT&T merger–but they should get on the ball and make it happen. For whatever reason, people have set their sights on that middle of the road device and are so loyal to it that they are willing to jump ship and pay more just so they can say they own an iphone. Again, I don’t get it, but to each their own.

  • Anonymous

The iPhone will NOT be launching on t-mobile this year. You should be getting the Galaxy S 2 within the next 3 weeks though…

  • zelduh

This so depresses me.  I really wanted to stay with Tmobile, and I wanted an iPhone.  I am still using my old G1, waiting for the iPhone.

My hubby has been using an unlocked 1st gen iPhone with TMobile – and it works great.  He is going to make us switch to Verizon now because he wants the iPhone 5.

    :,-(

    • J. Williams

Don’t go to Verizon their speeds are not fast for data. I just went to Sprint and got the Galaxy S 2 Epic 4G Touch. I’m getting great speeds

      • zelduh

The problem is that we have two iPad 2s that are already on Verizon’s data plan …

So, we’d just be adding two iPhone 5s to the Verizon plan.

        • J. Williams

          Oh I see. Understandable.

    • Anonymous

Tell him to hold out, so he can get real unlimited data plans and a sim card in case he drops his phone, he can replace it with another phone, and for the cheaper plans over all.

      • zelduh

He was with AT&T and finally gave up with all the dropped calls.  Then, he got his iPhone cracked and unlocked and switched to Tmobile.  We’ve been happy with their service here in Los Angeles.  But he has been waiting a few years to get a new iPhone cuz AT&T’s market exclusivity (it’s iPhone monopoly) was not supposed to take so long to end.

He simply wants a new iPhone 5.  Period.  :’-(

        • Dpro

Excuse me the Iphone Market exclusivity has ended. The only thing holding up the Iphone being on T Mobile is T Mobile. Apple will willingly sell to T Mobile. T Mobile has repeatedly had its head up its ……. here in the U.S. Thank you Douche Telecom for doing such a poor job with a great company.
They have refused things that would have made them huge. I have a friend who works in Corporate sales at T Mobile and he told me Apple approached T Mobile early on before they went to AT&T and T Mobile was not willing to pay.
If they had they would be were AT&T is today in size and would have invested more into their infrastructure and LTE development.
Regardless of if you like the Iphone or not fact is it was exactly what T Mobile USA needed.
It still could save the company if it is brought out on T Mobile soon. As the AT&T acquisition is not going to happen( thank you DOJ) and it would bolster up the company enough to make it a quite inviting acquisition by a company that did care. Which of course Douche Telecom does not.

        • http://tmonews.com David

Thinking the DOJ action is a definite reason the merger will stop is absolutely wrong. The DOJ action is, as of right now a speed bump but certainly not one AT&T can’t overcome.

  • BigMixxx

man let me run t mobile, 3 days…I will turn the company around….8 steps

    1)  Hey Bank, loan me a billion…I need to keep customers so the iPhone lovers, as a matter of fact, give me 2, so I can ask apple to give me an antenna that gives me hspa+
    2)  All Phones, Give it away, ok, give it away at half the price…sign them up
    3)  Wave activation fees for new customers
    4)  Wave migration fees for existing customers
    5)  6 months into contract, full upgrade
    6)  No data caps
    7)  Voice plans start at 1000 minutes 29 dollars, unlimited 49 dollars
    8)  200 meg (5 dollars) with overage to 2 gig then throttle end 10 dollars.  2 gig data 15 dollars with overage to throttle 5 gig 20 dollars, 5 gig of data 25 dollars with overage to throttle at 10 gig 30 dollars.   unlimited 35 dollars….
    9)  Free Accessory Day (pay the tax) a month…No one knows when…keep them coming to the store, coupons, deals, deals
    10) 1 to 3 day test drive for free (leave a credit card and you life line of course, of course test drive phones, team up with google for phone numbers )

that’s a 2.50 billion dollar plan that will make 4 billion over the next 1.5 years.

    • You sir are an idiot!!

You are an idiot. With that type of plan you should really think about running for President of the USA not CEO of T-Mobile.

Throw the DC calculator away and pull your head out of you A$$ and quit holding your hand out waiting for someone else to pay your bills.

      • BigMixxx

Awe we are name calling now?  One of the other definitions of idiot is Foolish…No sir I am not..I have a legacy plan including data, refusing to switch….

I get a 40% discount and verizon (Plans, devices and Accessories).  30% at sprint (plans, accessores and devices)…18 percent with AT&T (Plans, excluding the iphone).

I like T mobile.  I’d like to see success there.

and yes, I will throw in the the calculator and your a$$ if need be.  I’m in vesgas, come see me…

        • Mike576jones

Gee wonder why one of these companies hasn’t used your great plan yet. Maybe cause they would not make any money… If you sell your product at an overall loss (which it would be using your genius plan) you will bankrupt yourself. It does not help to get a huge influx of customers if you’re not making any money off them. your plan would get them lots of customers. It would not make them profitable. Quite the opposite in fact. I’m sure you are a very bright fellow but I doubt you are smarter than all the hundreds of folks at the big four making decisions. I’m quite certain that if your plan would make billions it would already be implemented by a company.

        • BigMixxx

If the problem is getting people to see your product, give it away.  That’s really simple.  Humm is a product of McKinsey, and having first hand experience with McKinsey and surviving, they tend to divest, find efficiencies and keep the best (i.e. fire people, find different ways to make more money and combine like resources within the company)

Profit or not, T mobile U.S.A. needs people to buy into the existence of the company, an opportunity to experience the company and overall better device selection to remain competitive with the other 2
(Sprint is just humming along, for example evo the same device as the HD2 but T mobile chose windows mobile…really?  sprint sold a BUNCH of them, by literally giving the device away at 200 dollars.) and people don’t see the value.

Where are the commercials? where is the iPhone (Because that’s what people want, not because I am a fan)….

I promise you, just as you would; I would be willing to pay extra for a networked device I want vs. something I’d have to settle for….example, I bought a G2x, knowing the problems.  I love it….

The only device that compelled me to switch networks was the atrix, but after learning the cost of the networked device I stuck with my hd2 running android a little longer and was COMPLETELY satisfied.

Overall, something has to be done for people to recognize the value in T mobile.  Verizon commercials are all over the air this sunday, not because Verizon supports football, they are making you believe LTE is what you want.  It’s not, it’s the free for all data element that makes THE MOST MONEY on any network.

There is legitimacy in my plan.  Position it where people make logical choices for what you want the customer to pay.  35 bucks for unlimited data on a Very fast network is not much vs. what the other 2 offer.  29 dollars for 1000 minutes beats your lower competition and increases competition against the others….
Device selection makes you just like the others, and a unique device (a high speed iPhone) makes you competitive….

Think about it for a minute….

Tmo is already the cheapest of the big four in the US and its not working for them. Do the math on the devices. I paid 500 upfront for my sensation (which I love) and have unlimited talk/text with 2 gig data (plenty for all but top 5% of users according to all numbers) and I pay $50 per month. At the end of my contract I will have paid 500 for my phone and saved $760 vs sprint and $940 vs Verizon due to the greater monthly cost of contract. That is a much better overall deal with tmo. People want discounted phones but there is no such thing as a free lunch. Similar to wanting healthcare for all and expecting cost to go down AND quality of care to stay the same. You pay for it somewhere. Economics 101

        • BigMixxx

Of course I was kidding, about the executive orders….I’m not crazy….

I’ve asked this, EVEN at conferences…Where are the numbers that show this usage.  Show the gross numbers and where it lies.  If that were the case, you would drive the price down vs. up.  2 gig of data is not ‘Plenty’ if you have to remain mindful of your usage.

The numbers also show that T mobile customers are not only calling T mobile customers but a vast majority of AT&T customers, and those AT&T customers mainly use iPhones and Blackberry devices ( I learned that at a presentation about a particular database technology that T mobile uses, so of course it peaked my interest).

The AT&T numbers show, the iPhone is the DOMINANT device on AT&T. but that’s an easy read.

What do you see on TV?  ‘The Phone is only 199 with a 2 year contract.’  You don’t see the phone is only 500 bucks and you can sign on and get a 2 year contract for X, thus the value plans from T mobile.

        • Mike576jones

Amen on the mindful usage comment. That is why I like unlimited talk and text. However I use around 500 meg a month on average. Have never gone over a gig. Always have my network on and never check usage except towards the end of the month out of curiosity. I use the internet pretty regular along with several email accounts and downloading apps etc. Most people I know don’t even use as much data as I do let alone more. The problem with unlimited plans is that top 5% uses so much data it slows the network down. The caps are designed to limit that problem, not to make more money. We are in agreement on the perception problem. Although tmo IS cheaper in the long run, most people won’t take the time to do the math so they get their 199 phone and $80 contract and they’re happily oblivious to the fact that they’re coming out behind. Tmo needs to run a campaign highlighting this price advantage. If not, they’re better off raising monthly price and giving phone discounts cause this is what attracts the general public. It’s all about perception

        • BigMixxx

Agree with you on the perception…however:

‘The top 5 percent’  I’d like to see those real numbers….We are all punished for the top 5 percent which is useless.  I’d really like to see those numbers.

We can send Billions of text messages across the network but data usage is questionable.  DATA is the goldmine, phone and texts aren’t.  To regulate data is to regulate your costs….I firmly believe that.

T mobile’s infrastructure costs are so low, they can make more use of it….

You’d turn T-Mobile into an even more ghetto welfare nation than it is today.

      • BigMixxx

Ghetto is a term used to describe “a quarter of a city in which Jews were formerly required to live” or “a quarter of the city in which members of a minority group live especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure”

So in which do you mean?

As a strategic planner – me thinks, that T-mobile sees a big threat from Sprint having got an iPhone and not T-mobile. The launch of iPhone under such circumstances will lead to a big churn at T-mobile. I thus think, that T-mobile wants to sign up as many customers as possible on 2 year contracts so that they can mitigate the affects of the iPhone. However, the launch of Galaxy S2 will significantly negate their efforts because a large number of T-mobile customers will be waiting for this phone and may not bite on September 24th. I personally will not take a decision until I see the iPhone 5 AND the Samsung GS2 and wait for reviews from users before locking in. The AT&T acquisition is unlikely to happen and even if it happens, the deal will be significantly delayed due to the joining of 7 states in the suit. Sprint and not Verizon will be prime beneficiary of the iPhone 5, not Verizon due to the steep difference in monthly price between the two providers.

    • 7statesoppose

11 states support AT&T  7 states oppose. Neither side has any bearing on whether the DOJ settles or not.  The settlement talks start on Sept. 21st.

    • BigMixxx

Exactly…sprint may not be a better carrier, but iPhone is a recognized brand that T mobile should have in their portfolio….Drive custoemrs to your stores…yes…That’s what should be done…

T-Mobile USA sucks if they couldn’t after all this time negotiate a deal with Apple to carry the iPhone or iPad.  They’ve had years to get their game plan on.

T-Mobile is not growing as it is and network enhancements have stopped.  Most commercial TV slots have been pulled off the air except for those already in syndication.

Now Apple has no incentive to make an AWS capable iPhone with DT selling out.  T-Mobile is done.  AT&T just get it over with.  If we get skipped over with the new iP5 I’m going to ATT with my 24% discount.

The GS2 is really nice but yeah we still get gimped on the CPU.  It’s like we always get the tail end of the stick as a T-Mobile customer both on our network and devices.

  • Jaygqitalia

    All this iphone talk

Lets be honest for a min. 60 percent of the iphone users only have an iphone because they think its cool to have an iphone. They dont even see what else is out there or no anything about whats inside it.

    • WhiteisRight

What hole you pull that percentage out of?

The fact that we post here on an enthusiast site should tell you that we know what we’re getting with the iPhone.  Many of us use unlocked versions on T-Mobile and have to put up with sucky EDGE speeds.

Many of us have used Android to get our cool phone / application fix but have wanted the real thing all along.

      • Jays_on

Couldnt have said it better. I’ve used them all, Gone back and forth, but for me the iPhone just works better, even being relegated EDGE!:(

  • Angarma1

Cry babies for the iPhone, crazy for overpriced plans, thanks to Mr. Jobs great merchandising genius!!!

    • WhiteisRight

Apple doesn’t force the carrier’s pricing schemes.  They do that to themselves.

Low paid T-Mobile store reps shouldn’t dog a product just because they can’t sell it.  People want it and will go elsewhere to get it.

You can keep the sucky Moto Cliq 2 and myTouch 4G BS.  I want the iPhone 5

      • Snasd

Lol low paid? I make 40k as PART TIME going to school. I get customers always coming in and saying iphone is better because it has 5g.i had another person tell me that the iphone does not use a battery so its the best phone. Maybe you are one of those people.

        • Jays_on

Dude, most tmo reps I’ve talked to have as much knowledge about the iphone as the customers you’re describing. So WhiteisRight has a point.

      • Snasd

      LMFAO!!!!

      • http://tmonews.com David

Are you seriously laughing at Apple’s merchandising? Do you not live on the same planet as me? Take a look at their financial numbers and then laugh. “Genius.”

        • Anonymous

I think he was laughing at the phenomenon known as Apple “sheeple.”

          I could be wrong.

    • Nearmsp

So what is your problem? I guess you want the North Korean model – 1 phone – 1 color, 1 company. Anyone wanting choice is a traitor? RIght?

  • Jays_on

What do you think the chances are of apple making an unlocked tmo compatible iPhone? You can pick it up at Walmart, (like say an iPod touch) pop your sim and go. They obviously want more penetration, the logic seems obvious!

I don’t see the downside for apple. WAY more sales. Is it really that hard/expensive to add our radio? Seriously apple! They are pretty much single handedly helping kill tmo.

    • Jaygqitalia

      they already do

      • Jays_on

Sorry dude, no 3g compatible iphone on tmo’s network. What planet are you from?

    • Jaygqitalia

      they already do

    • Nearmsp

They already do. However, the issue is even if the iPhone 5 is a 4G device, an LTE configured device will be unable to run on T-mobile’s 4G network (HSPA+). I think T-mobile will keep making deals like 24th September to avoid the flood of people leaking to Verizon and Sprint. If Verizon is smart it will open its unlimited data plan when iPhone 5 comes out to snare T-mobile customers moving to Sprint. Sprint on the other hand is playing their cards very smartly. It will be delaying the merger as long as it can. Between now and the conclusion of this, the T-mobile leadership will drop the ball to the benefit of Sprint. The dropping and brining back a human on the help line is a prime example of T-mobile leadership assuming the deal is done. DT will lose heavily. In the absence of iPhone 5 they will be unlikely to stop the churn. Each day as they fight for the merger, the loyalty of its long time customers who detest the acquisition is being lost. The compensation from AT&T for a non merger will unlikely stop the bleeding long after the game is up, further damaging the interests of DT shareholders. Hello T-mobile! Are you listening?

      • Jays_on

What are you guys talking about? Show me (and the million others) an iphone I can use on tmo’s 3g network!

        • http://tmonews.com David

I’m pretty sure “compatible” doesn’t need to include 3G. Compatible means it will work period, the speed is irrelevant.

        • Jays_on

Sorry I didn’t specify “3g compatible”. Give me a break.

      • derek 21

there will be no 4g data lte for any iphone to middle first quarter 2012 why someone leave to get 3g somewhere else thats retareded

  • WhiteisRight

It’s both a shame and embarrassment that nation’s number 2 GSM provider can’t negotiate a contract to resell an Apple product.  The same management that has allowed T-Mobile to flounder and lose subscribers I take it.  Maybe AT&T is doing them a favor by cutting their jobs when they take over?

    • DTSUCKS

Well said.  As T-Mobile continues to die the other manufacturers will start to follow and stop making expensive high end devices using AWS.  It’s only a matter of time.

DT never really cared much about its domestic subsidiary.  Funny that people are so staunchly loyal to a company that gives them the middle finger everytime they see the SOS or no service symbol on their phones today.

      • BigMixxx

IMHO….(Because I have a Sprint phone and an ATT phone and testing a verizon phone …now )

Because my ATT compadres get that same middle finger each time they pay their bills.
Because I get better service over 90% of the time.
Because when I drive to visit my family across the country, I have coverage 95% of the way…(the mountain)

I could go on about this one, but overall people are loyal because they get ‘great service’…as perceived by each individual.

        • JesseHurdtee

Yeah right.  I lose service all the time with T-Mobile in areas where AT&T and Verizon work just fine.  I just drove from So Cal to SE Texas last month and my phone was constantly on GSM only or SOS for miles on end.

I stick with T-Mobile because they’re ghetto cheap otherwise I would have bailed a long time ago.

        • BigMixxx

You Drive on 40?  I have service, except n the mountaints.  I roam, of course, where I’m supposed to roam.  Hell I even get AT&T when I roam, but I have service…

Why would DT/T-Mobile invest $$$ into getting the iPhone when they are in the middle of an acquistion?  I can gaurantee you T-Mo will “not” be getting the i5, but if the Att&t deal falls through I asure you that the top executives will be pursuing the i6.  If AT&T did not place a bid for Tmo they would more than likely be in line to getting the i5 in October with Sprint.  T-Mo’s parent company DT is already taking pre-orders for their i5′s.

If it were the iPhone, I’m sure all T-Mobile employees would know 4 days before the launch.

We have been sold this same horse many times. I for one am not at all holding my breadth for an iPhone any time soon, much less next month. The 24th September loyalty day reinforces my view that T-mobile has NOT got the iPhone and is trying to build up loyalty and prevent yet another flood of customers leaving T-mobile. This is more so, as each day it becomes clear that for the first time the Anti-trust department has decided to stand up for US consumers rather than big business. It is increasingly clear that this acquisition deal will fail and T-mobile will be in a worse situation even withe $3 billion break up fee. The leaders were promised retention if they stayed until change in control to AT&T and huge stock options. Most of the benefits will disappear. DT counted its chickens too soon.

    • 007

      lie… not getting a iphone.

  • kahlayoh

ppl are saying tmobile sucks because they are not getting the iphone!!! Really, if tmobile sucks then why are you guys here? Just because they don’t carry 1 phone the company has to suck? Don’t get me wrong…I like the iphone and i used to use a iphone with tmobile. They even help me setup my settings and pick the right plan to use with the iphone! What other company will do that for u?

    • NotASection8HoodRat

T-Mobile management sucks for failing to make T-Mobile’s network and suite of services more competitive with the US industry.  They didn’t push DT hard enough and just settled for mediocre coverage with boring phones.

It took the iPhone to light a fire under everyone just to put out something to compensate for what they couldn’t have.  But T-Mobile didn’t try hard enough.

If you are reading this comment and you are totally convinced I’m off base and T-Mobile’s demise isn’t it fault then you have already conceded that there is no room in our US wireless market for a middle road carrier like T-Mobile since customers either want something better and more expensive (Verizon / AT&T) or something much cheaper with limited coverage (Metro PCS / Leap).  If this is the case, AT&T so be it.

      • Anonymous

You can’t push a parent company to do something they have no intention of doing, especially when your company is a privately held. Although I agree not procuring the iPhone has been a HUGE miss for tmobile. Your assessment is off.
