HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G Pictures Plus Specs Leak?

This isn’t what we call a T-Mobile leak per se, but the HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G model has leaked out of Thailand according to local site Droid Sans. According to the site HTC is testing a new Android device that is capable of DC-HSPA+ speeds in Thailand which further gives us hope that this device is capable of 42Mbps data speeds.

The images in the pictures themselves match the ones we’ve seen leak with T-Mobile branding and although these are a different color the hardware seems to match spot on. According to the Droid Sans  site this device being test is a 4.3″, 960×540 qHD, 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU. The device being handled also has 1GB or RAM inside as well as 16GB of storage, Android 2.3 running along with Sense 3.5 running on top of that. The design of the phone itself does match the earlier viewed leaked images of the HTC Ruby so we’re inclined to believe this is the same phone, just in black. If our ninjas are correct, the HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G for T-Mobile will come in at least two color models as well.

Until we know more about the T-Mobile branded edition check out these five images and feast your eyes on something you’ll soon be able to hold in your own hand.

Sooooooo annoyed, I wouldn’t have ever got a Sensation if this was coming out. T-Mobile gives me headaches.

    • Realcool2000

Poor u. U have choices….what a headache. Maybe u would like a carrier with limited choices and only has new 4g phones on or two times a year.

Sell the Sensation, and buy this one when it comes out.  The sensation is worth some money right now…just an idea for you.

      • http://www.twitter.com/aemr Andre’ MindYoBusiness

Yeah, I like your suggestion the most. It’s the most realistic, but this phone looks too thick tho. I’ll probably just switch providers when the iPhone 5 comes out in the next few months or so.

I’m going on an Android binge for awhile, particularly HTC.

        • J. Williams

The thickness of the phone is a key factor in your purchase?

        • http://www.twitter.com/aemr Andre’ MindYoBusiness

No, but it is a weighing option. No one wants to walk around with a brick in their pocket. Besides I’m just go unlock this baby and overclock the hell out of the processor.

But like I said, I don’t care of this phone was anorexic thin. I don’t want it! I’ll have me and iPhone 5 when its comes time. As much as I despise Apple, I but up with them for awhile till HTC and android get their selves together.

Especially HTC, they putting out so many phones but using the same exact hardware from previous HTC phones. Like can we get a better camera, a less laggy and buggy sense UI, more internal memory, better quality sound, louder volume, and more vibrant brighter screen (compare to iP4 screen), lastly, an actually 1080p vid camcorder that records as .mp4 instead of dated .3pg. They need work on A LOT things, besides pushing the same phones out with different processors. What a joke!

I have a Sensation 4G and I never regretted it for a second, its a Sleek, Classy, Powerful phone and works very well.  The Amaze 4G will have more powerful features.  Yea? SO what!  Phones are ALWAYS going to be coming out just a tad more powerful than the one you bought a few months ago, get over it and be GLAD we have so many winning devices coming our wayy.  FINALLY!

Yep, they’ll always be chasing that “latest and greatest” dragon, yet never have anything to show for it. Frankly, I’m not impressed if someone has the current “beast of a phone”. I’m more impressed with those who get a phone they like and are happy with.

What does it matter if the network will not provide the DL speeds it claims to be putting out??? The S4G says it can do 15 down but i’m lucky to get 5 in 10 different large cities i have tried it!!!!!

        • http://profiles.google.com/brooklynboiz Jamille Browne

I have gotten high 13′s on my SK4G nothing less than 6 which is still good. btw sk4g is capable of 21mbps but real world speed are normally 75 percent at most.

      • jarjon76

Excellent post. You’re right, the Sensation is a great, high end device. The Amaze/Ruby is nice and all, but is it really THAT much better than the Sensation? I’m guessing not really, at least not something an everyday user would notice. The only reason I can see getting this over the Sensation is if they’re the same price–otherwise save a few bucks and go with the Sensation. You may not have the “latest and the greatest”, but you’ll have a damn good phone.

        • http://profiles.google.com/brooklynboiz Jamille Browne

Hopefully there will be noticeable difference in the sound quality and camera quality.

This comes with 16gb of internal memory, plus micro SD slot for expansion.  Finally HTC got the memory situation right.

  • The Architect(of the Matrix)

This device is sexy, and unmistakably htc.. Sucks that they moved away from using amoled displays though..

The main reason i’m planning on buying a Samsung device this time around, is because the combination of samoled+ and exynos will be too much to resist..

but If the hercules doesn’t have the exynos chip, this most likely will be my next phone(especially if they bundle in some beats by dre head phones).. *notices the sound of flame throwers powering on*.. lol

    • Danny CT

What’s wrong with the GSII having a Qualcomm Snapdragon? The international GSII LTE variant has a 1.5ghz dual core Snapdragon and it’s a screaming fast phone software-wise and network-wise.

      • The Architect(of the Matrix)

I didn’t mean to come off arrogant or douchey.. I’m not knocking the snapdragon at all..

since both of these devices are rumored to be sporting snapdragon chips, the decision (for me) comes down to the build quality of htc vs the screen quality of Samsung..

My last three devices are htc manufactured, but exynos and samoled+ would have been enough to make me defect to camp samsung.. I’m still on the fence though..

      • Anonymous

GS2 has the exynos… At least the US variants do… That was confirmed at the launch event.

        • Anonymous

Except the T-Mobile variant. According to reports, that one will have the Qualcomm chip instead for some reason.

I don’t think it was their choice to move away from the amoled screens.

      • The Architect(of the Matrix)

Agreed.. If I recall correctly, it was due to supply constraints during the summer of 2010..

The original galaxy s series was set to debut, and reports claimed that Samsung barely had enough displays to use on their own devices..

This allegedly pushed back production of the dinc, even the nexus one was affected..I do commend htc for finding a viable and competitive alternative..

Just picked up the Sensation as well and what a phone! I’m very happy with it and haven’t had any major issues with it at all. This is my first all touchscreen phone (I was a QWERTY “hanger on” for the longest time) and I’ve had no problems getting used to it.

As far as the Ruby, it is nice, but doesn’t stand out too much from what’s out there and what’s about to come. It’s another nice high end phone that T-Mobile is offering, which is both a good and bad thing. Good that consumers have yet another choice, but bad in that phones are coming out way too quickly these days. That’s the way the industry is now, it is what it is.

I think people saying this looks like a mytouch are crazy. there is nothing on this phone that looks like a mytouch. The mytouch (4g) has physical buttons, the camera is in a different place, speaker grill, etc. And as a bonus the camera doesn’t seem to stick out as much on the back, and the battery cover looks nicer than the sensation. :) I am glad i didn’t jump on the sensation too soon.

Why not 720p resolutuion like other HTC phones of this type releasing in Oct?

Not liking the wasted real estate on the bottom of the screen, or the general look of it. My guess would be this is an upgraded MyTouch 4G, it really is the only way to justify releasing an HTC device 4 months after the Sensation 4G. It would upset a lot of people. Another thought might be the G Infinity? Although I was hoping for something better than the year old GB at launch.

This looks like an Amaze 4G to me.  If you notice, all HTC phones of late look similar.  They put the speaker in center up at the top (and it’s always some sort of grill) and the buttons down at the bottom.  They’re not physical buttons like any mytouch device.  HTC always uses the same icons in the same order.  This phone, based on the specs is in a class by itself.  It’s a dual channel device capable of the 42mpbs technology.  That’s the fastest version of hspa + right now, I’m told.  Plus the 4.3″ screen is super hi-res 960×540!  Dual core 1.5 GHz processor.  8MP main camera, ~2MP front facing camera.  the phone looks pretty darn sleek.  It’s a tough call between this and the SGS2.  They both have similar spec.  The SGS2 screen might have better colors but the res on the Amaze is sharper and will make text and pictures look very nice.  Plus I heard they changed the screen on the Amaze to make it clearer in sunlight, removing some gap between the glass and the actual screen.  It’s supposed to make a different.  I can’t wait for them both to come out and compare!!
