so im on an even more plus off contract plan, am i able to get this deal if i want to be on a 2 year contract?

    • Jaygqitalia

Yeah but youd have to jump on a value plan contracted plan .. and you probably wouldnt have to make first payment , but you would have to pay the rest of the full price ( 300 ) off over 20 months .. oh and with credit approval it says also … grr

      • Anonymous

but it says free, how would i have to pay full price?

        • Phershey128

Because the value plan is so cheap you nevrr get discounts on phones. But you save at least $20 or more on the value plan comoared to the classic plan. Classic plans gives you discount on phones.

I hate when they due “new costumer” deals only.. annoys me so much.

The point is to lure people into new lines and contracts.

There is little incentive for T-Mobile to “reward” current customers.

      • Ashadam08

How do you figure there is no reason to reward current customers? With people leaving tmobile like they are is would keep customers from leaving not only by making them happy by offering phones on a discount but also by locking them in to another 2 year contract…

        • Anonymous

I didn’t say I agreed with the standard phone company practice.

Nor did I say it makes sense for current customers.

There’s a lot of incentive to reward current customers. Why do you think they have an entire department dedicated to ‘Customer Retention’? They DO have rewards for loyal customers… you just have to ask for them.

        • Anonymous

If your customers are calling to cancel, you have already FAILED.

        • Agora20

Wait.. what? T-Mobile has the highest retention rate out of any mobile provider. That’s not a fail, that’s a WIN.

You’re wrong about the lack of incentives to reward current customers. You just have to ask. I’m assuming you don’t. Which is why you sound so bitter.

If your non contact you can open a new line and cancel your existing line. However, it take sixty days to get your old number back. I work in customer service.

    • steven

      what number do i call

  • Mega

TMo is great.  I got my wife a 4G slide a couple days ago for $200 upgrade price.  I just called and told them about this deal, they credited $200 into my account.

  • Steveosteveosteveo

    :( no Sensation and no upgrades… :(

    • jef benigno

They never have free upgrade deals…

      • jarjon76

But other places do. Places like wirefly, walmart, target, and other places that sell T-Mobile tend to have much better deals that dealing directly with T-Mobile. Shop around.

    • Mel

dont call customer service you have to call new line activation thats how i got my g2 (like 3 months ago)
look up the number online for new line activation   i also did that about 1 month ago i forgot for what but they were up until 3 am (they had the sensation free) sorry i cant find the number im too lazy to look for it but your not !!

  • Anonymous

If I  do it as a new line the website works, If I d o it as an upgrade, the site tells me their service is down. seems a bit unusual to me.

  • Anonymous

I will say that when the G2X was reported to get GB, I wanted to try it again, having been impressed with it on release. I asked retention what my upgrade price would be, and they offered it free. So I took the bait, and it’s been flawless. Battery life isn’t quite as good as my Nexus One, but that has 2.3.4 which really improved battery. So call retention and see what they offer.

      Hey man, what’s retention?

      • Brandon Dean

The retention department is for people who are current T-mobile customers that the company may feel is at risk of leaving for another carrier. Its basically the “We will make all sorts of deals to keep you from jumping ship” department.

        • http://www.twitter.com/aemr Andre’ MindYoBusiness

Lol, oh… I know what that is now. That’s the “I’m about to get a new phone for cheap” center. My cousin used to do that all the time. I’m going do that soon. Because if we don’t get an iPhone 5 I’ll probably go with Sprint. Plus my bill is like $104. -_____- IF I was Sprint it would be only like $80 for unlimited everything but landline calling, and who has landline anymore.

Try calling your utility companies… like Comcast, Nicor, or ComEd and be on hold for a several minutes, plus the amount of time you spend discussing your bill with them.  All those minutes rack-up so quickly, and so does your monthly bill with overcharges.

Your evenings start at 9pm… about the time when all the companies are closed for the day.

I meant for this to go here- What was weird was, I just asked for a representative, and it happened to be someone in Retention. I didn’t ask for Retention. The whole thing was unexpected. The funny thing is that they first sent me a Galaxy 4g by mistake. Ok…that wasn’t funny.

I think he’s talking about Customer Retention, the people they send you to when you complain that the price is too high, service is bad and you’re going to defect to Verizon :-) Customer retention can cut you a deal

  • Brandon Dean

T-mobile needs to do more upgrade deals. I think the reason they are doing this is to attract new customers, but part of the problem is that they are LOSING some existing customers. They need upgrade deals just as much as new line deals. You don’t want to be adding 1 new customer while losing 2 old customers.

      Agreed. They have bad math.

Opened 2 new line of service for free mytouch4g slide, plan to cancel them after 30 days grace period.

  • Nick

For the people complaining that TMO doesn’t offer deals to exisiting customers–a lot of the time if you call 611 you can get the new customer deal.  At the voice prompt ask for “retention” or say “cancellation.”  If you’re a good customer who doesn’t have a history of early upgrades there’s a good chance that you can get the new customer deal.  It’s that easy.  That’s how I got a free G2 a while back even though I was only 8 months into my latest contract.  The retention dept is full of people who want to keep customers happy.  Just be realistic and don’t expect a free phone if you just got a phone a couple months ago.

    • http://twitter.com/iDiotGear Rob Daman

I never got a phone from Tmo since I 1st signed up and that was 7 years ago. Retentions wouldn’t give me squat. I tried several times. So it is the luck of the draw who you’re talking to.

      • Allleyesonme

I left tmo less then 10 days they sent me a note wanting me back. They offer me a free htc sensation, also a 50.00 dllr credit and a 20.00 dllr gift card. Now I’ve been wth tmo since 2003. I sent the phone bk bc it had some pblms…..plus I’m gnna get the samsung hercules.

You’re being “taken care of” with a low cost plan and I suspect you got your initial phone on a discount–you know to entice you to sign up.

    • Jwgizmo

Low cost plan? They get that too, yes my initial device was cheaper, but not at the top of the pile, and not free. Heck I’ll take a MT 4G S for free, that phone just came out. C-mon! If I want one it’s $199. Half of that would be nice for a customer that has been here for quite some time.

  • Jwgizmo

New customers get this free. New customers get that free…everything FREE for new customers, or add a line. What about US, the customers that have been here to 6,7,8 years or more? NOTHING or $199! Guess I’ll have to be a new customer somewhere else… Piss me off!

    • Jersey6

      I agree.

    • Happy with Tmobile!

Its not free.  The rates are higher to pay for the device.
