T-Mobile, AT&T And Sprint Galaxy S II Models Revealed

Well we can put to rest what we have known for some time, that on Monday, August 29th Samsung will reveal the Galaxy S II models for T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint. The good news is that the T-Mobile variant at first glance looks exactly like the version that has been floating around the internet along with our own leaked shots. All will be answered this upcoming Monday but we could still find ourselves waiting a little while longer for the T-Mobile version to hit store shelves. We’re hearing that October 26th date tossed around more and more as the release date. We’ll know everything in just a few days.

out of the US, ATT got the best looking one. Why couldn’t they just keep the original model? I really love the gun metal look on the S II.

agree, when att buys tmo we will still be left with tmo logo on phones, i will see if I can remove the T from TMOBILE on this phone, MOBILE looks better cos mOBILE means cellphone .

Not only does Sprint’s look nice, it will still work after the merger. Tmos 3G & 4G will not work on AT&T’s network. EDGE will. So phone will not be a total brick.

I don’t really care for Touchwiz. Native Android or HTC sense is just more comfortable to work with. I do like Swype though.

Exactly, i’ll be rooting it and flashing a ROM within the first two weeks of ownership. I hate Touchwiz and Motoblur, but Sense  isn’t a whole lot better. I’ll go , hopefully with CM7 and Go Launcher Ex, unless Slick UI is released at that point.

I waited, and waited, but that damn G2X that I got for free did me in! It’s not my Babyboy’s sequel but I’ve grown found of it and XDA haven’t let me down!
Mad love still for Samsung but I think I’m going to sit still and watch from the sidelines as this takes on the Droid Bionic….It’s going to be glorious!!!

Hate to admit, I am just planning on joining the android game.  Which phone type is best for large fingers, a phone with keyboard or touch screen?  Also, what features help (i.e swype, etc.), and feel free to recommend a specific TMO phone.  Willing to pay for the latest and greatest as long as I am making the jump, but the whole fat finger thing is my biggest concern. Thanks. all..

    • Bimmerz

If you have large hands/fingers, then the Hercules might be worth your wait – at 4′.5″ screen, should be big enough. Best to go check one out in person, when it launches, and see if it fits well with your needs.

As for the keyboard, Hercules will be a touchscreen – hopefully with Swype. But if not, you can always download it, or use one of the many other great keyboards out there – many like Swift Key. I have both Swift Key, and Swype – I prefer Swype.

      • Guest Guy

        Very Helpful.  Thanks much.

        • Tortionist

I find T9 flex works about as well as SWYPE. Remember, you can also put the phone in landscape mode which makes it a lot easier to type, because the on screen keys get larger. The SGS II is what i’m going to go for and keep my Defy as a back up.

I hope the lack of Verizon’s version, that the rumors are not true. I read that Verizon passed on the SGS 2, because they are getting the Nexus Prime instead.

This isn’t to say that Google wouldn’t launch the next Nexus on other carriers too (come to mama/aka T-Mobile), but it might mean a longer wait for other carriers.

Ready to find out the official specs for the T-Mo version. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until Tuesday thanks to friggin’ Irene. Grrrr. a 1.5 Exynos dual-core and 540×960 would be awesome but we’ll probably get the 1.2 Qualcomm and 480×800. As late as we’re getting it and with these lesser specs, they should have called it Epimetheus instead of Hercules.

oh gee what a pity you can’t get your stupid smartphone update ..how about giving a thought to those people who are waiting to get updates on whether or not friends and family are alive or dead.

Supposedly the ATT and Sprint versions get 1.2 dual exynos, and Tmo gets 1.5ghz exynos…
Will not disclose source as they are t-mo employees.

Why did they have to change the design from the original? I loved the sharp edges on the original SGII, as it’s much more distinctive. These all just look like the Vibrant now…

Do you know that in the android market there are several FREE home replacments that often work better than ANY manufacturers option? Launcher pro can run using barely any memory and ADW is so customkizable it will make you satisfied. Go launcher is ok but I felt oddly limited while using it but it was also very animated and customizable.

If there’s an MIUI port for the Sprint model, I’ll buy one. I’ve been sans-smartphone for a month now, I feel like it’s stupid to start a new contract while this, the iPhone 5 and Nexus Prime are scheduled to release within the next two months.

In the meantime, I feel like I’ve quit smoking. I need a gadget to hold me over.

Also, I did quit smoking last week. This is rough. Phonedog, you have giveaways all the time, why not send me a smartphone to hold me over? I’m on my parents Verizon family plan at the moment (I’m 30, it feels a little degrading). Can you send me any iPhone or Android phone for Verizon to hold me over the next few months? I’ll even sign a contract to return it by December if you want.

Thanks. The last time I quit lasted four months before my wife took off and left me with our kid (meaning, I have her). I started again when that happened. I’ve been doing it for about 15 years. I’ve never been a heavy, pack a day smoker, but I’ve never gone longer than six months without a cigarette either. I’ve never in my life smoked indoors, around kids, or took extra breaks at work to smoke one… which always kept me from smoking too much.

Anway, to keep it relevant, hose studies are accurate; Being gadget-less after having one all the time is quite similar to quitting smoking. Not exactly the same, but similar.

A new report posted by PhAndroid claims that T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S2, or the so-called Samsung Hercules was discovered making it’s way through the FCC on Thursday, suggesting that the device is near release date. Based on previous FCC to release activities of T-Mobile, it is highly possible that the device will arrive by the end of September. The Samsung Hercules is the “most leaked” Galaxy S II variant. In fact, multiple images, including the Canadian variant for Telus carrier was also leaked, showing off the phone’s slim design and slight rounded edges.Apparently, Samsung Galaxy S II is also expected to arrive in two other United States carriers, Sprint Nextel and AT&T, while Verizon Wireless is reportedlyskipping the Galaxy S II for still unknown reasons. According to Android and Me, it is highly possible that Sprint Nextel will be the first carrier to launch a Galaxy S II smartphone, the Samsung Epic Touch 4G based on the “clues” (Sprint apps) found in the Samsung Mobile video for the Galaxy S2 USA variants. Both the T-Mobile and Sprint Nextel Galaxy S II smartphones are expected to carry 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of dedicated RAM, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 2-megapixel front camera, Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 out of the box, and the latest version of TouchWiz user interface custom skin that is less iPhone-ish, and with additional customization support.
