T-Mobile Posts $199.99 Pricing For HTC Sensation 4G After Mail In Rebate

Just a few short hours after the official announcement of the HTC Sensation 4G T-Mobile dropped the price on us and it’s exactly what we expected. Coming in at $199.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate on a two year contract there is no surprise here and that’s a good thing. After all, we could have seen this drop in right around the G2x new pricing and truly see T-Mobile’s era of the $299.99 smartphone begin.

A little reminder from the launch announcement as well is that we are told that stores will have them BY June 15th as we’ve seen from the press release but that certain stores will receive inventory prior to June 15th. It is our understanding that stores will be able to sell the Sensation 4G as soon as they receive inventory.

    Good price. Full cost $499?

    • Jabombardier

This what I was waiting for and I can’t get it now. On top of that, I kind of starting to like vanilla android.

      • J. Williams

What phone do you have right now?

        • Jabombardier

I have the G2X by default.

  • Drwillcg

Well this the great news we have waiting for and now lets git busy passing this along.

  • Enoel69

How much does it cost if u wanted to buy it out right with no contract. For those who pay full price, will the phone be unlocked…hope so after spending all that cash. Or will HTC sell an unlocked Sensation w/ Tmo USA HSPA+ bands.

    • Anonymous

Most likely it’ll be $500 off contract…maybe a bit more

      • ob18

I like the look of it but I hesitate to do anything with the possible merger.  My one question to them can’t seem to be answered at the moment and that is if they merger do those currently under contract get to walk without paying a termination fee.

        • Zifnab2k

They won’t answer that question until they have to unfortunately.

        • ob18

That I cant’ stand but being under contract I don’t have much of a choice.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HGEPMKECQHV4BVIDCEHTQJZV7M CINNALOCKS III

Look at it from their side…..there are times I am sure they would like to change the terms of YOUR contract, but they cannot so you stand in a positive position….contracts are not at all bad. AND you ALWAYS have a choice but it is BEFORE you sign the contract.

        • None

Not a merger and highly unlikely that you can walk away from ETF.

        • Anonymous

Chances are you cant walk w/o paying the etf. When the deal closes your contract/plan isnt changing (based on whats been said by ATT CEO so far)….in fact, nothing will really change for TMO customers (for 1-3 years reportedly) who decide to keep their current phone and plan. Network changes wont take effect for quite some time after the deal closes. My question to you would be: Why leave immediately after the deal closes? Ideally you would want to extend your contract right before the buyout closes to lock in your low TMO rate plus you should have access to ATTs towers for voice and text (maybe even HSPA 4g network depending on when/if TMO has ATT HSPA capable phones.

        • None

No one at ATT has promised we would get locked in grandfather rates.  “Grandfathering” is a concept that is rarely put on paper so do not get your hopes up.
Bonus Comment: There are other ways to get out of your contract.  “Abuse” your “unlimited minutes” and TMO will terminate your contract for you.  Some would say it is a jerk move, but go over 18,000 in a cycle and you will get a contract termination letter–No ETF
No one thought unlimited minutes really meant unlimited minutes, did you?

    OK  so the phone is actually cheaper in Target / Walmart on contract $ 199 straight up ( 12th ) & $ 249.99 at TMO 3 days later ( 15th ) with $ 50 mail – in rebate .
Also TMO’s gonna have the father’s day sale ( 18th ) ; Will the Sensation be apart of the deal ???

    • Robert Thren III

Is Target still in the Mix?  All Ive been hearing about since last night is Walmart for June 12.  Target would be sweet since it would be 5% cheaper with my target debit card!

      • None

My target in Columbia, MD told me they no longer carry TMO because they have been bought out by AT&T.  Incorrect at the moment but they actually had removed all TMO phones except for the super-cheap boxed prepay phones (and I mean the really cheap ones)

        • None

…And even those were on an end-cap which is usually reserved for closeout items.

I wonder if this phone will be free on June 18th fathers day sale…last year all phones were free…

if they do a free Father’s Day sale with this, then that’ll be the tipping point to me doing an upgrade .. i had originally planned to let early adopters test it out for a month or two but it’d be hard to pass up on a FD sale.

Well if they do T-Mobile would be right in line with how they market their products now fast, in a hurry, and not in enough time to build up much for sales.

    Ugh. Mail in rebates suck.

    • ob18

they do that simply because they hope people forget to send them or just are too lazy to send them back to receive the rebate.

      • Anonymous

Oh I know. They still suck though. I have to shelf out an extra 50 that I could use and then wait for a prepaid card to come in when I’d much rather have a check where I can then put it right back in to my account. Yeah it’s still 199 in the end but not to start with.

        • Zifnab2k

Takes months for that card to arrive so you can get your $50 back too. Think I waited almost 12 weeks for my rebate on my wife’s mytouch

        • ob18

Recently I never had to file it, I’d order the phone via calling them and they’d always just waive the rebate so I never had to send anything back to get it.  Which I am sure will change as time moves on.

      • Mark

If you go to best buy mobile you don’t to worry about rebates, they will sell it to you for $199. they will get rid of the rebate for you. And while your there purchase the buy back plan and get 50% off the retail price.
Not the sell price the retail price. I traded my g2 in for mothers day and got a $300. gift card back. used the gift card and got a 37” flat screen that was on sale for $200.00 because it had a small scratch on it. I came out looking like a big shot.

I was gonna get one first day [I'm an upgrade; have the TP2]  but now I will wait for the Fathers day sale to see if it comes FREE!

what stores offer free accessories when buying a phone? i know costco gave my sister a free flip case, bluetooth headset, and car charger when she got her galaxy 4g. and last year i got 50 dollars off and $20 worth of accessories at radioshack for my hd2, but i think that was a promotion. both up these were upgrades too.

well, back to my question: what stores regularly give discounts or free stuff when buy a phone?

  • The ATL Guy

    WOW!
That is pretty damn sweet that its a $199 and not like $249 or $299 like some of the other carriers are doing with superphones!!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HGEPMKECQHV4BVIDCEHTQJZV7M CINNALOCKS III

I am having a hard time justifying paying $200 for a phone. I have enough toys. I got a 25″ screen on my desktop, a 35″ tv with digital with digital sound. So what do I care about looking at movies or surfing the internet or loading my phone with music. It is a nice idea but useful, not much at all.

They did cancel my order on the GX2, I was told the manufacturer pulled it, not T mobile. Thought I would wait to see what this would cost. I am not surprised, but I am disappointed particularly when the GX2 was pulled. I was quite satisfied with the GX2 and the price I could obtain it for with a two year contract. It would be nice to hear what is REALLY happening with the GX2. Why is the truth so difficult to find anymore, anywhere regarding anything?

  • PBfuntime

I am torn…. My wife washed my G2, then 6 months later I shatter the glass on my Mytouch 4G.   I was holding out for the Hercules (I have been fed bad info before…) with my screen cracking getting worse and worse, I was thinking of just saying Ehhhh and getting the Sensation in a week.  Nobody can tell me IF or when the Hercules is actually coming out, and is it really that better?

Walmart is selling the Sensation for $149.  we found this out after we bought 2 from a Tmobile store
