T-Mobile No Longer Blocking Video Chat On The Nexus S

If we can try and think back to the whole ‘T-Mobile is blocking video chat on the Nexus S’ story which stormed the internet for all of 15 minutes and turned out to be an engineering problem, remember that? It’s been solved thankfully and now Nexus S users are enjoying video chat’s over 3G to their hearts content, or at least their data allotment limits. We’ve got a video demo above and we encourage all Nexus S users to test this out and sound off below letting us know the results.

Thanks Jonathan for the video!!

My hope is that the G2X update will be too 2.3.4 and it will include this feature. I know pipe dreams but one can dream. I think that would make up for all the hoopla.

David — sorry but this was not an engineering problem – this was Tmobile policy.

I had been able to use my Nexus S video over 3 G for a while now after adding a key-pair to one of the sql database as described in the xda forums.  It worked just fine, once the wifi check was removed.  So, no engineering problem — Tmo policy.

Also different problem – G2x.  I called tmo tech help yesterday and they said they know about the rebooting problem – it is a memory issue – that is probably why you did not suffer it coz you did not take a bunch of pictures, had 100s of contacts synced, etc.  They told me that the temporary fix is to move as many of you apps to SD, delete your contacts, delete your pictures from the phone to clear the memory…….. :(

but they also said, fix should be coming soon, and it might not be gingerbread yet.

Works over 4G now on my rooted MT4G with CM 7.1 RC1.  I guess Tmo flipped the switch for any device running 2.3.4.  Thanks Tmo!

Wasn’t engineering problem. Was a calculated move to piss off subscribers so they would leave and help TMO and ATT case for merger. Mark my words Tmobile will be having all kinds of ‘Engineering Problems” over then next few months, otherwise they won’t get their merger.
