T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide AKA Doubleshot Spotted Receiving FCC Approval

If the HTC Sensation 4G isn’t your thing and a QWERTY-Packin’ Android phone is then you best keep reading. The HTC Doubleshot aka “HTC PG59100″ just passed the FCC with support for T-Mobile’s AWS bands. Current rumors peg the myTouch 4G Slide as haven a 3.7″ 480 x 800 display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 768MB AM, 8 megapixel camera, vga front facing camera and a 14.4 HSPA+ radio.

The boys at WirelessGoodness are certain this is HTC Doubleshot this time around with the last FCC passing turning out to be different handset than the Doubleshot. We’ve been able to peg down a launch date of July 6th for the myTouch 4G Slide but this far out anything’s possible so circle that date in with a pencil.

Wireless Goodness, FCC

how i wish there was a high end android with a keyboard :(

    • http://twitter.com/acehomey Roberto Acevedo

A Nexus phone with a keyboard would be win

      • G-Unit

The G2 is pretty much a Nexus phone with a keyboard.

        • Thereugo67

Is that right? The G2 has been my first Android Phone. I’m probably not using it to its capacity. What do you think about ROOTING? What do you think of the Sensation?

i dont see how this is not a higher end phone, this is as high as it gets unless you are talking about screen size but that doesnt have anything to do with higher end

      • Kaseyhaggerty

Because it will be filled with tmo bloatware and the shitty esprrsso version of Sense

        • Anonymous

you seem to know info on stuff that isnt available yet, most people love espresso, and nothing root cant remove, sensation is garbage as well then if that is your thinking

        • alex

diddnt you see the leaked rom? it’s a really toned down version of mysense, like no more bubbles idk if it still has genius button, faves, and etc although what i would like is faves, media room (which is still there) to stay, and also all phones have bloatware, except the nexus-es so that makes no phone high-end?

        • Anonymous

head over to BGR, they got pictures of it, supposedly, and it runs stock sense 3.0

After using a 4.3″ phone for a year going to 3.7″ is a major downgrade. But I miss the accuracy and speed of a 5 row keyboard/trackpad. I don’t understand why I cannot seem to have it all. Might have to go with the droid 3 or epic 2

  • Bata

What about the 3D Thing? Is it passé Or still unknown?

    • Anonymous

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking! Oh wowww!!! If it is, T-Mobile just got a new contract customer.

  • Anonymous

Man, this better not be the same specs as a sensation only with smaller screen and with a keyboard. Cos then now I’m gonna have to wait for this one instead!

  • ZeroD00d

I’ve legit been waiting for more info about the Doubleshot. I want it so badly.

    • Seahawkfan

Really?  I bet your wife would like a Doubleshot too! Bhahahahaha

    • Anonymous

lmao, you set yourself up on that one.

  • mmeyer4663

    It’s not the 8th yet!  :-)

    • alex

TMO SAID THE 15TH thats what im talking about

      • mmeyer4663

“No later than the 15th”  I spoke to 2 stores in the Denver area and one in the Chicago area today.
All three are still sticking with the June 8th availability date.
Maybe they are say not later than so that they can get it out to high performing stores without creating an out of stock nightmare like they had with the HD2, IMHO.

  • omeer67

I have been waiting for pictures of this phone for what seems like decades now. Seriously, with so many leaks left and right why hasn’t the MyTouch 4G Slide made a wild appearance yet?

  • The Architect(of the Matrix)

Fcc approval, sweet!.. Now all we need are some mr blurry cam shots *cough*

I’m kinda happy about the 6/15 release date for the sensation, as it gives me more time to decide between the two..

Obviously the sensation out specs the mt4gs, its just that I have a weakness for physical k.b’s.. Every word that I type on this mt4g is a constant reminder of that..

    End rant..lol

    • alex

they are pretty much same hardware, just sensation is bigger screen, and qhd, while mt4gs is 3d(rumor)

      • The Architect(of the Matrix)

I agree they both have pretty much the same hardware..

More often than not I type in landscape mode, which makes me think I should just stick with physical k.b’s.. I tried to convert to swype but still I find myself just tapping away..

If the mt4gs shares the same build quality as the sensation, plus has a full 5row qwerty k.b.and dedicated camera button, I just may be all in..

        • alex

i think the dedicated camera will be replaced with a 3D button

  • nerdlust

I think a keyboard is a a hugh bonus! Its this or sensation. I wish a high powered moto android was coming motoblur has started to grow on me now that itamed it.

  • Meagan

Another 3.7″ Android with keyboard.  Wow!
Is this going to be called the G2X2?

  • Anonymous

    I have a couple concerns.

I’ve read in the past that when HTC claims 768MB ram, it’s really 512MB. And that other companies also use 768MB, but only say 512MB. Not sure if that’s true.

I don’t know if I can stand another 3.7inch 800×480 phone. I love my G2, but really.. if I’m going to step up, I need more than just a dual core proc thrown in there.

Possibly my biggest concern: Bloat. The MyTouch series is plagued by it to the point of them replacing an actual hardware button in favor of a stupid genius button. I won’t buy a phone with some ghetto crap like that.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1339612527 Adrian Parks

I don’t even use the “Genius” button. I actually miss the search button on the G2. I used it so much!

  • nerdlust

I need pics. This sounds so tempting.

  • Taite

HSPA+ 14.4?!?! Lower specs than the myTouch 4G? WTH?

    • Aerofanbig

? Its exactly the same as your MT4G. Samsung is the only company making Tmo phones at 21mpbs. All the other 4G phones are 14.4, G2, G2x, MT4G, Sensation….

  • DuTcH PaPi

I’ve been a very good boy this year, and if Summer Santa (or HTC) have been paying attention, the DoubleShot/mT4G Slide is gonna look exactly like AT&T’s version of the Touch Pro 2 (Tilt 2).  That was one beautiful phone.

The keyboard AND speaker(s) are the best I’ve seen/heard on ANY cell phone.

Just imagine a dual core processor in that mug along with dual cameras, qHD screen (even though it’s listed at 800×480) and 768mb RAM.  Not to mention the latest and greatest Android OS.

My dream phone… droolin’ out the mouth as we speak… PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HTC… give us a super-powered Touch Pro 3… and soon!  Thank you.

  • CJ

Hello, would anyone happen to know if this phone will support network bands in Australia? Cheers.

  • Aerofanbig

No, Tmo news said BY the 15th, which means no later then. That means some stores can still have it on the 8th….and it’ll still be “by the 15th”.  Like MM said, its probably going to stock in some of the higher producing stores first. I know one of those Denver area stores is one of the highest selling stores in the company (according to a girl that works there I was talking to) so it makes sense to have flagship stores get them first.
