T-Mobile Launches 4G Payday, Win Up To $4000 Daily And A Chance To Win An Audi

T-Mobile USA is launching an exclusive free SMS-based mobile trivia game with chances to win up to $4000 in daily cash prizes and a chance to win an Audi Q5 vehicle. The goal of the game is to be able to correctly answer the most consecutive questions within a given hour. Eligible customers can participate in as many as three games each day. The player with the most consecutive answers in a single game will win $4,000 and the most consecutive answers in a single game each week could win an Audi Q5! The game lasts from June 27th till October 2, 2011. Text “START” to 4444 and start playing!!

“T-Mobile customers continue to be some of the most active gamers and SMS users among any wireless carrier, and it is only natural to provide fun experiences to our customers aligning with their interests by creating a free trivia game with opportunities to win great prizes,” said Brad Duea, senior vice president of Value Added Services, T-Mobile USA. “This mobile trivia game is also a chance for us to celebrate our 4G network leadership as America’s Largest 4G Network.”

So how does it work?

  • Starting today, T-Mobile customers can text START to 4444 to review and accept the game rules and participate in the 4G PayDay mobile trivia contest. The game will consist of multiple-choice trivia questions delivered via text message.
  • The goal of the game is to correctly answer the most consecutive questions within an hour.
  • If players get stuck, they can choose to get a HINT to narrow their choices, or to SKIP that question to continue their winning streak and get a different question. (Both options are limited to three per game and cost $1.00 each plus tax).
  • The game ends with one incorrect answer or by reaching the one-hour time limit. Each player can participate in three games per day.
  • The player with the most consecutive correct answers in one game each day will win the daily $4,000 prize. The weekly Audi Q5 vehicle winner is determined by the most consecutive correct answers in a single game for the week. In the event of a tie, the most consecutive answers in the shortest amount of time will be declared the winner.

  • Wow T-Mobile really Isn’t Slowing down even with a possible merger looming.  I really REALLY hope this merger does not go through because just maybe DT will throw some more money into its USA branch after it fails and genuinely push some effort for once here for us and not just other T-Mobile’s around the world.  They’ve always treated us US customers as their red headed step children as they threw buckets of money and marketing power to its other markets around the world.

  • 18 in a row, then a question with two right answers? Screw you Tmobile and John Updike!

    • CellphoneChris

One of my games ended on that question as well.  But how can rabbit be rich if Rabbit is at rest?

      • jaytee

Yup…. my streak of 45 ended with this question as well. I figured that the appropriate answer should be “At Rest” rather than Rich

        • Damn, you beat my streak of 40. Good luck! Yeah the rabbit question was faulty.  There were two books, Rabbit At Rest, and Rabbit Is Rich. Either answer should have worked.

        • StarMenace

I got 48, my last question was “If A is 25% of B how many A’s are there to a B?” I put 4 thinking it was an easy answer, but the answer was 2 (which was 4), so I technically should have had 49.

        • StarMenace

That was at the 54 minute mark by the way. I had to Google half of the questions so a smarter person could easily reach in the 60+ range.

  • I already found an error in one of the trivia questions. 8 years isn’t the most someone can serve as president. It’s 10. They gave 8, 4 and 12 as possible answers.

    • CellphoneChris

As U.S. President, they’d be limited to 2 terms of 4 years each.  The correct answer is 8.

If a vice-president takes over as president more than half-way through a term (2 years or less), he can serve an additional 2 terms (8 years).

I used all 3 turns for today.  20, 22, & 26 – All 3 times the game was ended on a correctly answered question that was returned as the wrong answer.  I wonder if there’s a way to dispute or at least have them correct the algorithm (probably not)?

  • AMR

Having the same problem, cellphonechris. Except for me it happened on the FIRST question three times in a row. What the deuce?

Then the other two tries ended when I didn’t even have a chance to text in correct answers.
T-Mob’s network is really frustrating sometimes.

  • I got 40 correct (should have been 41 but the last text didn’t go through). Hopefully I win!

  • I also think getting 59 is impossible. The time it takes to answer, then get a response back is about a minute and a half. Compounded over an hour, those extra seconds add up! Anyone else play the game yet?

  • alt-mobile

Awesome — I was at 18 correct with 48 minutes remaining and I just entered my answer for a question and haven’t heard anything back.  Just give me $4,000 T-Mobile.  I mean, that’s the least you can do since you’re selling us out to AT&T (I kid I kid, no need to flex your muscle and who how big you are by saying things like ‘you’re just like everyone else, Tmo doesn’t owe you anything, etc..’

Some of these questions were freakin hard..

    • Lol, I agree. The questions get hard after about 18! I was like “oh my..” o.O Yeah at question 41 I know I answered it correctly with at least 8 minutes left and never got a response back. I swear I could have at least answered 6 more questions in that time frame!

      G2X with CM7, FTW!

So the most their expecting is what? about 60 correct answers? 1 answer a minute? or maybe 120 answers correct? 2 answers a minutes the average texter should take less than 30 seconds to text especially using swype.

    • Anonymous

answers are either “1” “2” or “3” – does not take a fancy keyboard or swype – just getting through T-Mobile’s bogged-down servers (and other Network traffic) more than once oer minute (or in my case more than once per HOUR) is the biggest challenge.

Tmobile would love everyone to play.  Call your state congressman and complain for having such a law against it.  It helps to bicker to the right people, than those who had nothing to do with making the law for your state.

WEAK!!!  if you try to resend an answer and it’s wrong you get dinged for an answer to a question you’ve yet to even see.  now i am supposedly playing game 2 and 3 at the same time. Last Time I checked Fort Knox is in Kentucky.  Now I’m supposed to answer a question for game 2 and before I could I get “3rd game of the day”.  Don’t resend an answer apparently.

I haven’t played the game but if that was wrong, then they may have meant the Fort Knox on an island a little ways outside of Bangor Maine, an unused Civil War fort built in case s*** really hit the fan for the north. War was over by the time of completion I believe.

There are a LOT of debatable questions. For example:
“How many medals did the U. S. win in gymnastics in 2000 in Sydney?”
While there, they won none. However, in 2010, it was determined a member of the Chinese team was not of age and thus disqualified. So the US team did win bronze medals for the 2000 Olympics, but not until ten years later. (According to T-Mobile, they won none, by the way.)

Others like the question about when Ford introduced electronic ignition systems are also debatable. They had fleet tested them as early as 1965, but didn’t officially introduce them until the 1975 models. However, neither of those dates are options. The question about the longest length of presidential terms is also circumstantial depending on whether the individual was elected or appointed to the position (such as a VP taking over the presidency). Lots of the questions are not as simplistic and absolute as T-Mobile appears to think. (Others just annoy me: what color item did some terrible current pop star wear/use in some terrible music video for some terrible song I hate.)

However, the most blatantly incorrect question was: “Near San Jose CA, Burbank is _____ of Campbell.”
First of all, Burbank is not near San Jose. Campbell is. So the two cities are mixed up in T-Mobile’s question. This leads to an incorrect answer. If you ignore the first part, Burbank is SOUTH of Campbell. Answering “south” results in an incorrect answer. Because they have the two cities mixed up as evidenced by the first part of the question. The faulty question should read: “Near San Jose CA, Campbell is _____ of Burbank.” Then the answer would be north and their answer would be correct. However, the way it is currently phrased, the answer is clearly South – which was counted as being incorrect and ended my third game tonight.

Yes, it’s pretty frustrating. I too got the gymnastics and Burbank questions wrong. For the gymnastics question I read it as “in 2000” how many medals did they win. Well in the year 2000 they didn’t win any. So I selected the choice that said zero  – and it was still wrong! So I’m not sure what answer they were looking for here. It just told me I was wrong but didn’t give me the correct answer.

    • Alicia6270

I replied that they did not win any medals and I got it wrong.

      • Meh

Same thing happened to me on this question answered zero, got it wrong. I wasn’t aware of the disqualified Chinese athlete, and was pretty damn sure the answer was zero. I find it odd that antipyrine got it wrong and it told him the answer was zero.

        • Anonymous

They have changed the answers of some of the questions. That is the most noticeable one they changed. The correct answer is now that the US did win. I got another one wrong because I put the wrong answer intentionally knowing they had the wrong answer originally, but they had changed it by then so it was counted wrong again. They also changed the order of the cities in the Campbell/Burbank question. (Although I’m still not certain which of the two Burbanks they are referring to.)

    • Yess

I said none and it marked it wrong for the gymnastics question so I guess they think it’s something else.

By the way the color item some pop tart :-) is wearing is ridiculous. I can’t stand it. By the way the Kery Hilson or whoever is supposedly wearing 2 rings according to T-mobile but if you watch the video it’s only one. This game is flawed and I have called T-mobile to tell them. Also, today I got some questions wrong and they texted me back you SHOULD HAVE used the skip or hint options. Of course, they want me to spend $1, I don’t think so. :-)

  • Anonymous

(The highest score I have gotten so far is 89, but I have no idea what other people are getting except for the people who post on here. I wish T-Mobile would give us some sort of target/estimate so we know what to try to beat.)

This game sucks! I try to answer and it takes forever to get a response and then it says its wrong. Apparently the Eagles never sang Hotel California and Sacramento isn’t the capital of California either.. Is anybody else having these issues?

  • my brother got 122 and hasn’t won any money so yeah … rest assured i won’t be playing this game anymore lol  you’ll never know what the other parts of the worlds have gotten so they could tell you that you didn’t win and there’d be no way to refute it.

I’ve been stumped at #10 twice now thanks to Tmobile’s mistakes. Once being the location of Burbank from Campbell. Thanks to this discussion I won’t waste anymore of my time.

  • This contest should be invalidated and run again after it’s fixed. Not only are some of the answers incorrect, it overlaps questions which only leads to confusion. Then other times it never replies, it’s been over 5 minutes since I sent my last answer and a reply has yet to come in.

Do the right thing TMobile and fix this thing or kill it.

Here is my expeience, all of the answers for one question were incorrect, the sytem was slow to respond and sent the next question before letting you know if the previous one was anwered correctly then say the last question (which I had not answered) was answered incorrect.

Shame on Tmobile for running this sham on its loyal customers.

I only got to 34 before i answered a question correctly and it told me I was wrong.  I knew i was correct so when I got home I looked it up and I WAS RIGHT! Whatever T-mobile. Oh and I love how it is always saying “Sorry this service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later” in the middle of the game. Luckily I figured my way around that and just enter the answer a second time. It goes to the next question when you do.

    • bubbadewy1

I will continue to play though. It is fun and not too difficult. Maybe just maybe my hubby or I will get lucky :) Good luck to all of you who are playing and have a great day :)

I hit 36, had 17 more minutes to play and it locked up and wouldn’t provide the next question. Finally got a message that my hour was up.  Hard to get the most answers when the text responses are so slow or just unresponsive.  The lag time kills it.

Some of these questions are incredibly frustrating.

“In Argentina, Temuco is nearest to: 1. Victoria 2. San Carlos 3. Santa Rosa”

First: TEMUCO IS IN CHILE NOT ARGENTINA.

Second: THERE ARE MULTIPLE PLACES CALLED “SAN CARLOS,” “SANTA ROSA,” AND “VICTORIA” IN ARGENTINA. (There are four places that I know of named San Carlos: in Rio Negro, Mendoza, Santa Fe, and Buenos Aires. There are also four places that I know of named Santa Rosa: in Cordoba, La Pampa Province, Salta, and Buenos Aires. There are two places I know of named Victoria: Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires.)

Third: IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT CHILE, THERE ARE EVEN MORE PLACES WITH THE EXACT SAME NAMES THERE. (At least three or four places in Chile named San Carlos. Same with Santa Rosa.)

I guess we are supposed to somehow know exactly which ones T-Mobile are referring to. Even though the question itself doesn’t provide the correct country. Questions such as this are absurd and should not be in the game. I was on a good streak until this BS question ruined it. Questions like this really piss me off.

    • Stratusmk

I agree, the same damn thing happened to me,I had like 30 right in a row and this kind of question comes up and messes up my whole game. Just like the drew barrymore question was wrong but I got it right because I guessed 6 and she was 7 but didn’t give you that answer as an option. This is ridiculous!

Same thing happened to me. I asked friends from both countries who know the more popular ones they said San Carlos, but then again if they are talking about Chile it would have been Victoria. I called T-mobile and told them their game is flawed.

  • R

How is anything near 100 even possible? You have to, first of all, read the question, know the correct answer to the question, which can be challenging sometimes, then text the correct number, send and wait for a response. that can easily take up one minute. Get a harder question, or use the HINT/SKIP feature and you’re talking even longer.

But they could at least end your 3rd game by saying “Sorry that was wrong. You have played your last game for today. Your highest score for the day is 27, the national high is 53. Please try again tomorrow.”

Of what day though of what week? Plus 300 I would assume is extremely unlikely. You would have to answer 5 questions per minute and hopefully not come across the “sorry service…..” text or inputing a right answer only to be told it’s wrong

  • Ct14197

Anyone else do the math on the 30 men taking 16 days of work, then how many men needed for 20 days of work? You’ll get it right…if you pick the wrong answer….which was like…24 or 25.

    • Smart

You’re obviously not very smart so let me remind you of what we learned in like 3rd grade.
      30 men * 16 days = 480 Man days of work.
      480 Man days ÷ 20 days = 24 men.

  • Ct14197

There are some questions in there that are very debateable…like the least valuable currency right now (which…can change every day…even so much as choice 1 or 2…)…google national sport of Scotland (it ain’t golf…but Tmo seems to think it is) Oh and WHERE is Bald Head because EVERWHERE I looked it was North Carolina, North Carolina….not PA, MS or ME….and did anyone else actually see in cold hard print that Margaret Atwood wrote Man from Mars because that was sure a lucky guess for me…

    • Kleedorferf

Found it by looking up Bald Head followed by each state listed in the answers and it was ME

Here are my best scores and the dates:
      89 on 6/28
      79 on 7/1
      79 on 7/2
      76 on 7/3
      79 on 7/4
      79 on 7/5
      95 on 7/6
      109 on 7/7
      104 on 7/8

I’ve definitely not been notified of winning anything and I am fairly certain it is possible to get 120+ questions correct if you are good. While I am skeptical of a lot of the score postings on here, I really wouldn’t be surprised if the winners got over 120 correct answers. I’m sure its possible if you don’t get too many difficult questions and are fast with no service issues. I have been on pace to get that many several times and then gotten a tricky question which ended my game. I do know that T-Mobile tweeted on 7/1 that “The daily winners of the $4,000 have been getting about 80 correct questions an hour.” However, that was pretty early in the game and I doubt there was much competition then. Since the questions sometimes repeat, more people are playing, and people are getting practice, I assume the high scores have increased a bit. Plus, I’m not really sure how much T-Mobile knows about the winners or their scores. I assume the contest is actually being operated by a third party they contracted. I’ve noticed that some of the questions seem to be getting quite a bit more obscure/difficult. Things like the “licence plate” [sic] number in Sunset Boulevard (I still have nfc what the answer to that one is) and the color of Ryan’s shirt in a specific episode of The Office are absurdly difficult/take time to research. Some of the geography questions are also incredibly challenging.
I do wish T-Mobile would let us know what kind of range the winners are in. I could desperately use the money, but I have no idea if it is worth my time trying to win. Up to three hours a night is a lot of time to commit when you have no idea if you even have a chance.

      • Tmobile4G

if you read the rules, winners are notified on mondays.  so maybe they will be callilng you on monday!  those are VERY VERY high scores and I doubt anyone will ever get over 120.  anything remotely close to 120 is a phoenominal score and they will probably win the car.  my highest is 89, i used the whole hour and i am pretty fast at the questions.  the service however is slow to respond to my phone.  good luck!  104 is the highest i’ve ever seen someone post!!!!

I’m not happy at all with the answers. The question was- What color is a lobster’s bloo?. Anyone that has ever caught them fresh in the ocean knows this.. The answer is clear. Their blood is clear until it hits oxygen when it turns a light blueish color in a similar manner which human blood turns red..  So, they claim I got it wrong.  I disagree and suggest that they check with a Marine Biologist.. Considering that was the only answer I missed, I wonder if I would have won otherwise…

    • Yess

I did this whole research on Chile and Argentina and locations. My question was IN Argentina which city is closest to Temuco. Mind you Temuco is IN Chile but they are asking about Argentina! So they gave me the choices of Victoria, Santa Rosa or San Carlos? I thought it was San Carlos, which by the way is really San Carlos de bariloche. I called friends who are from Chile and from Argentina and they said if it says IN Argentina it is San Carlos. If it would have said IN Chile it would be Victoria. Guess what I got it wrong! They need to use proper prepositions or ask questions correctly. You can’t say IN one country when you mean another. Not cool.

      • amedina17

In “ratatouille”, the clock in Linguini’s house shows? 1=12:50 2=10:50 3=11:50  wrong wrong wrong 7:08 is the answer!!!!!  and In india, peruva is _ of NeeLoor wth there is no such thing as neeloor

    • Know before you bash

Wrong wrong wrong. Check again. Watch when Linguini blindfold’s himself so Remy can control his movements.

    • Anonymous

The clock is in the film more than once. So there is a correct answer, but the question isn’t as specific as it should be. And there most certainly is a Neeloor. (Kottayam, Kerala, India.)

I do not like the trivia questions about things such as the time on clocks in the background – particularly when they have no impact on the plot. There is the Ratatouille question and one about Cars in which they ask the time on a clock in a scene. I’m not big on conspiracy theories, but things such as that are obvious attempts to induce people to spend money on hints and skips. Those are things that no one pays attention to and have absolutely no relevance. The only way to answer questions such as that is to actually watch the film while looking for the answer. Or to do what they would prefer and hint or skip your way past it and out of $1. The hint and skip options should be nice bonuses in case you are in trouble – not forced upon participants in order to get past ridiculous questions such as that. I refuse to use them out of spite. I would rather guess incorrectly than be forced out of my cash.

      • Smoke

so you’re telling me that you did 139 without ever using ‘skip’? I don’t believe that… sorry. That’s bs man….

        • Anonymous

No. I scored 132 without using a “skip.” I did accidentally use a hint last week because my fingers are too big and I typed 4 instead of 3 and didn’t notice it until after it was sent. Other than that accident, I’m not wasting my money if I’m not sure I’m going to win something. I’ve gotten plenty of low scores because I’ve taken educated guesses instead of skipping, but I’ve just posted the scores from when I’ve managed to do well.

        • Smoke

132 without a skip… still don’t buy it… more than 2 answers per minute.. that might be possible, but not when you get at least 1-2 stupid ‘google map’ questions every 20-30 (more ‘normal’) questions. Unless you’re a robot, which you are probably not, you can’t look up something like “Adwa in Ethiopia” to see which one of the 3 choices is East of that city or whatever, in less than 30 seconds. Also not counting the stupid questions like ‘the animals that show up on the screen’ for 2-3 seconds in some semi-obscure movie. When they all add up, you have to use the skip at least once, or based on your claim you just make guesses that turn out to be right… how many times ??? Especially since it’s not just your highest 132, according to what you said, you went 100+ like 4 days in a row. So if you’re not lying, then you got lots of extremely easy and/or repetitive questions – which would raise questions on the ‘quality’ of the game. If the game algorithm functions properly, one shouldn’t get more than 10-15 easy questions in a row. Tmobile tweeted that during the first week, the daily winners got an average of 80. Now you guys are claiming 130+? Don’t blame me for being doubtful…

        • Ncgamer

I agree those scores are total bs….who knows why you would lie on a forum…maybe to discourage others from continuing to play to win…with all the hiccups and random off the wall questions you would have to be flying through the game with easy questions. I hope tmobile posts the winners and their scores to call out those lies.

That is a pretty good score. The highest I’ve gotten was 132 on 7/9. So you definitely beat me in the weekly contest. Let us know if you win anything.

Two winners from Huntsville, AL probably with the same last name.  Game looks RIGGED to me or they have families/friends that work for tmobile and got the answer sheet.  Apparently they dont list the winners scores so WHO KNOWS….MAYBE THERE ARN’T ANY WINNERS AT ALL.  They just made up those names.

Gosh Tmobile4g, your paranoia is cute.
The game is not rigged. Winners are notified.
Have you considered that maybe you just aren’t very good at the game?

    • Anonymous

I don’t know about the rest, but the two winners from Charlottesville, VA are married. (7/1 and 7/5.)
But I’m sure they played individually and without any assistance from one another, of course.

  • RKM

I’ve had a couple of the Tmobile questions tell me I’m wrong when the answer I chose was right such as the lobster blood color that some of you had the same problem. If they’re going to say that’s wrong then they should be more technical in wording their questions such as :what color is a lobsters blood once it hits the air?” I’m sure they  vaguely word it so you lose more often. I’ve also been involved in a game where it told me I had 54 minutes left then literally 6 minutes later told me I was out of time. The game can be very frustrating and it’s interesting that they will not list how many questions the winner answered correctly. It would be nice to have some idea how far you need to go. But then again they probably do that to their advantage too cause if you knew about how many answers you’d need right then you would quit playing at the point in the game when you know you’re not going to get anywhere near that amount before your hour is over. It’s a fun way to pass the time but can be super irritating.

    • Blueblooded

I agree that it can be frustrating, but just remember what the right answer was since the question will repeat and then you’ll know the answer.
If you want to be a daily winner you will need to get a score in the hundredS. (emphasis on the ending S)

Campbell CA is North of Burbank CA and it told me I’m wrong?? If they want to get technical its actually NW but thats not even an option so how can they ask the question if they dont even give u the correct answer to answer with? Just like a rubuen is made on what kind of bread? Again if they want to be technical its actuall a DARK RYE bread, but ur options are rye dark or wheat….T-mobile quit cheating and put the correct answers on there so we have a chance. Think I’m gonna do a little research and find out if how they are wording it is even legal….

    • Anonymous

They apparently changed the answer they are counting as correct again on the Burbank question. The problem is that there are two “Burbanks.” There is the one everyone knows of and then there is a small community near San Jose also called Burbank. The past couple of weeks “North” was accepted as the correct answer, but now they apparently changed it back to being “South.” I know because I just got it wrong and put “North” which was counted as correct a week or so ago.

Today my highest streak so far is a terrible 42.
Yesterday I somehow managed to get 152. That is the highest I’ve gotten so far. I did reluctantly decide to use a skip because I was doing well and the question was impossible.

In Zambia, Semu is __ of Kabunda.
      1= South
      2=West
      3=North

Semu is southwest of Kabunda. So I have no idea which answer they are looking for.

I got 164 on Sunday and did not here anything from them. If there are actually winners then I assume that the winning scores must be over 200

        • Didnotwin

I spoke to one of the winners from last week and the winning score was around 125.  Thats when the game first came out, so with all the questions now I can image the scores need to be around 200-250 to be winners.

Sorry to break the news to everyone, but you’re
going to have to break 200 to win. At this point, it’s probably going to
take more than 300 to win. I know from experience. This is a real game,
and they are REALLY giving out money. Yes, scores this high CAN be
    obtained.

    • GoodNewsBears

i got 237 on 7/15 (friday night) and did not get a call saturday.

      • BadNewsBears

You’re definitely within striking distance. The winner I know of from one day last week was in the 260’s…

        • Its Alex Ob

You’re a liar. You’re throwing out numbers for your supposed “friend who won”. This is what you said a couple days ago. “I was just with my friend when she got the notification that she was the winner for last week. Her high score was 385.” Then you said, “The day she won she put up 260 something.” You’d have to have a phone signal that was connected to the tower… The phone lags for at least 10 seconds before you get each question. Besides, this game is stupid. My question was, “The closest museum to Eiffel Tower is.. 1. Wine Museum. 2. Quai Branly. 3. Modern Art…… Modern Art? There are tons of Modern Art museums. Why not be specific? And Wine Museum… All three answers could have been right if they were to steer their specific decision any which way. It’s a waste of time, the winners are probably fake, BadNewsBears is probably being paid by T-Mobile to let everyone know that there really are winners. Bad job, though, since you spurted out two different scores for your friend who “won”. Every time you put up a wrong answer for those stupid geographically tricked and fixed questions, it tells you “You should have skipped so you could keep your streak!”, when it’s really saying, “You should have given us money for this game that is ripping everyone off so we can pay for our bonuses!”

        • guest

the answer is the Quai Branly. Its about 5 maybe 6 mins if you walk there.

By the way, where does your information come from? I thought they wrote on their site they would contact all winners on Mondays…

      • BadNewsBears

Yeah, people definitely can score that high. A friend of mine won last week. I was with her when she got the call. It came the day after she won. I think the winners that are contacted on Monday are just the winners for the previous week. The day she won she put up 260 something.

They had a misleading question about the tv series gossip girl. The question asked who dan secretly has a crush on. The possible answers were Serena, Blair or Jenny. Anyone who watches gossip girl would know that dan and serena dated openly for two years. In the most recent season there was a big debacle when dan and blair kissed and later on dan began to develp feelings for her. The correct answer therefore would be Blair, not Serena. Dan is in love with Serena and everyone knows it…how could you have a secret crush on someone who you dated for 2 years?! Makes no sense. The answer clearly is Blair.

game = NOT WORTH IT. with so many people playing everyday it gets really competitive and very unlikely to win. i would rather just spend an hour doing something else. people playing are pretty stupid…

385 would mean that she would answer:
     about 1 every 10 seconds…. 6 and a half a minute AND/OR about 96 every
    15 minutes!…

lets be UNREALISTIC and say it takes 1 second to send and receive a message
(considering that they even send them in on time)
…that’s 12 seconds gone for every minute
    60-12= 48…. 48 sec…..divided by 6.41 = 7.48 seconds a question.

there is NO PHYSICALLY way possible one could receive, read, comprehend, answer
and send 380 CONSECUTIVE ANSWERS in an hour (without being a computer)! One
would have to know what is coming up next.

Anyone that is playing this game knows that these questions are not for a
“genius” some of these you just had to have been there or seen it!
(i.e movie questions, real names, nicknames, geographic regions and dates.)

All your friends are winning but your blogging?? lol whats going on? or are you
just discouraging people so that you can win yourself lol….I might not be
winning this trivia stuff…but I’m smart enough to know whats real and whats
    not!

They should put this on their resume……….or should have already been
on jeopardy, family feud, Who wants to be a millionaire and all those other
    trivia game shows…smh

So, for clarification to everyone, I do NOT have t-mobile, that’s why I myself am not playing. I’m not a t-mobile employee or anything. I was just curious to see what scores people were putting up in the contest. My friend won a SINGLE day last week with 260, and LATER in the week had a game of 385, which was her WEEKLY high. So I’m not contradicting myself, those were two separate games. People wanted to know what scores were winning, and I’m letting people know. My intent here was to help out people with some info. If you don’t like it/believe it, then it’s on you.

    • 4gpayday

I agree with those scores (with assistance).  I got 291 last week with the help of my ANDROID APP that answers all the questions for me.  I was never contacted by by tmobile as a daily or weekly winner.  I called tmo and was directed to the 4gpd support line and they said they could tell I was cheating!  lol  They said I was too fast….lol.  Anyhow that was fun while it lasted.  I still dont believe someone won with 385 though as they can see who is cheating.  Good luck

      • Seriously?

I called T-Mobile, and was promptly hung up by the 4gpd support line (who told me that they can’t answer any of my questions), so I wonder how you are able to talk to someone who would disclose that your score was too high to be a winning score?

Honestly, I am starting to think that some of these posts are written to discourage people from playing and trying hard to win, and to eliminate the competition.

        • 4gpayday

They never told me my score was too high…they never even said what my score was.  All they said was I was sending text messages too fast for a regular person to be sending message.  I told them I was on 4G and thats why it’s so fast but they did not believe it and I know its because I was cheating.  I am not gonna lie about it…I cheated.  I was using an app to get a score that high.

        • 4gpayday

        • 4gPayday

But that doesn’t address how you are able to speak to the 4gpd support line and have them tell you you were sending messages too quickly?? When you call Tmobile Customer Service (611), the representatives either are not aware of the contest or will go to the website themselves to read you the official rules which you already have access to. I have called several times to check. None of the customer service representatives are aware of a separate division or group that handles this contest. Like I said, one time, a representative spent like 25 minutes trying to research, and she finally found the department that handles this, transferred me to them, and the department asked if I was a tmobile employee. When I said no, she told me that I was supposed to talk to 611 about all my questions and that they don’t talk to/answer questions for any tmobile customers, and quickly hung up. This is why I think you are giving false information – because in the extreme unlikelihood that you actually got through to the 4gpd department, no one would have given such specific info saying that you are going way too fast for a regular person. The customer service reps don’t have this info, and the 4gpd dept sure as hell aren’t going to give out this info to you. Though I have no idea why you would make this up…

        • sparky

That’s what I’m wondering. I can never really tell what information is true and what is not when it’s posted online. It seems like everyone is giving out misinformation on purpose, but can’t even think of what the motive could be! Perhaps too much free time?

        • 4gPayday

I’m also starting to suspect that the whole thing is a scam by tmobile and the supposed 3rd party that handles the contest. If T-mobile is being bought out by AT & T, why on earth would they want to give out lots of money every day? I think they’re trying to get out as much money as they can from their customers – let’s say 1 million people play every day and each person uses only one skip/hint, then tmobile would have made 1 million dollars per day. Or what if, someone found out about the contest and decided to start a  plan with tmobile in order to play? Tmobile could make a lot of money when that person later finds out tmobile service is crappy and has to pay a ridiculous fee to cancel.

If this contest is legitimate, why isn’t Tmobile posting up the winners’ high scores? And why is the department that handles this not responding to any customers’ inquiries. The whole thing is very shady, and has scam written all over it.

It doesn’t make sense to win with a score of 260 one day, and then get 385 another day in the same week – without cheating. And by “helping out people with some info,” you must mean discouraging people from playing by posting up these ridiculous scores of the supposed winners.

    • john

No offense, but if you don’t have tmobile then why do you even care? Why are you coming onto this site replying to others? I just don’t see how someone would have the time to go and “help” others with their secret information when they don’t really gain anything in return. It doesn’t really make sense to me.

I just answered “jazz guitarist” for who is Pat Metheny, and it told me it’s the wrong answer.  BS!  It’s the absolutely correct answer.  They can check out Wikipedia or any other reliable site.  If you’re gonna sponsor a trivia game, at least get the answers right.

  • triviabuff

After it ended my game, it seemed to reconsider and say the answer was right and gave the next question.  But it had already ended the game, so it started a new one.  It must have been a technical glitch, but I was on a roll!

  • Shadyballer10

T mobile must think all their customers are retarded. There are some extremely technical posters out their with very detailed information that appears to not be made available to everyone else. (badnewsbears and some others) obviously their goal is to get us to skip or hint so that they get more money for the company. Saying your friend scored 385?! Smells like some bs to me. I can throw a number out there too. Hey everyone, my friend scored a 392 last week. And I jus scored a 420 a few mins ago. So badnewsbears, tell your friend to go play in traffic because she can’t beat my “score”…

Some of these questions are so freaking idiotic, reading them makes me want to smash my phone against the wall. It seriously just asked me what is a stimulus?: 1)stylus 2)stimlus 3)smilodon. It obviously shouldn’t be stylus or stimlus (it’s not even a real word) so I chose smilodon without even knowing what it meant. It told me I was wrong. Just for this dumbass question, I’m never playing this game again. And all the people who’ve won obviously cheated and got away with it somehow. Lucky bastards…There is no way you can score over 200+ points without being tripped up by some of these absurd questions intentionally put in to make you lose. That ends my rant. Good luck to everyone.

  • sparky

So has anyone else noticed today that it sends you messages in between every 3-5 texts (sometimes directly after one) about how “you’ve got a good score,” but to “always use hints or skips if you a hard time” instead of directly sending you the next question? It’s rather annoying.

    • Anonymous

      YES.
It is incredibly annoying. I think they must have done this for one or two reasons: 1. to slow down high scorers (which is silly because then you will just have more people tied if you limit the number of questions they can answer) and 2. to continuously remind people to buy hints/skips. I think they probably aren’t making as much money on hints and skips as they had planned, so now they are trying to remind us over and over about those options in hopes we will waste money on them.
Those constant reminders instead of more questions destroyed my high score(s). The highest I was able to get yesterday with that absurd delay was 130 in a full hour/59m. Prior to that, I had been getting around 200.
One of my streaks yesterday was ended when a question asked what color hard hat someone wore in S06E08 of Supernatural. (One of the asinine questions I hate because it was obviously designed just to make us spend money on hints/skips.) I guessed because I’m not wasting my money if I have no idea if I have any chance of winning, and I got it wrong, of course. Later I watched the episode in case the question popped up again and did not see anyone at any point wearing a hard hat. I could have just missed it, but I sure didn’t see a hard hat in that episode and I suffered through the entire terribly stupid show.
I did get an awful lot of repeat questions yesterday, also. Sometimes with only one or two others between repeats. I don’t know what is going on with the contest, but it sure is frustrating.

When did those stupid messages start anyways? I played last week and was fine, and today get them every minute or so, it REALLY slows you down.

        • Anonymous

They started sometime yesterday, as far as I know. They definitely weren’t there the day before. I’m not sure if they started yesterday at the beginning of the new 24hr period (3am EST/12am PST) or sometime later in the day. I started playing around 10pm EST last night and was swamped by them.

        • sparky

It definitely started yesterday. I had been playing for many days before then and it suddenly changed. Guess they needed to re-vamp the game playing system to rake in more cash…

Wow you had been getting 200? Have you ever won?

Before the messages started the highest score I got was around 120. Guess I’ll never win haha.

Even though they send those annoying questions in between at least EVERYONE is getting them so it sorta equals out the playing field in terms of time. Guess the average score will just start to go down.

        • Anonymous

I haven’t wont anything and I think others were likely doing much better.
While it may be comforting that everyone is getting those messages, it does make it a little more unfair because it is harder to gauge a winner if everyone is limited to fewer questions. Basically, it isn’t possible to move beyond the rest of the pack so there is more reliance on luck than skill.
For example, if you have a one mile race, it is a lot easier to determine the winner than if you have a one inch race.

        • sparky

I get what you mean. Oh well, what can we do. People can complain, but noone will hear us. And I always thought those spouting the above 200 scores were just trolling or discouraging people from playing. I wonder how everyone does it?! Super fast phone and genius ability to answer random trivia, I guess.

I really hope you win!!!!! You are on here a lot and very passionate about the game. Aren’t you on trivia over-dose yet? I have been getting at the most 100 with these new messages, I noticed that they would send them when I’m doing well, I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Based on my experience, I don’t see how anyone can get more than 120 at the very max.

If anyone is still playing this stupid game, what has your high scores been??

It must be impossible to win. It’s rigged I swear! I had 15 minutes left with all right answers and then it sends me two questions in a row and then said I lost!! I never even answered the questions so how could i have lost!!!! THEY ARE CHEATERS I SWEAR!

  • LetsBeReal

I applogize for being so long winded in advance. But I have been thru a lot. I hope this helps.

I actually spoke with a 4g payday rep. He called me because I also got
an answer right and it said it was wrong. I called T-mobile when it
happened and NOBODY knew what 4gpady was! The T-mobile rep finally gave
me the direct number to them after going online and googling the rules
    like I couldn’t do that myself….

When I called the number, they told me
that I would have to be a T-mobile rep to speak with them…and hung up
    the phone.

I called T-mobile back (611) and explained to them what they had told
me… a different rep (whom also didn’t know what the hell was going on)
said she would call them on 3 way….Instead she clicked
back and forth between lines for nearly 15 minutes relaying messages.
Lastly telling me that someone would be contacting me in 48 hours. (At
this point I thinking like seriously…who are these people the
    Illuminati??)

Because it was so early in the week…(and we get three games a day) I
didn’t really pay it much mind…that was until it happened AGAIN! So I
called them back this time making sure to bring it to their attention
that this was the 2nd time this had happened and that they had failed to
    call me back.

The T-mobile rep was sooo nice but that had to have been her worse day
at work because I made it very clear that I would not be satisfied until
I had a callback time and date and demanded that they put it in the
notes. She successfully relayed the message over the course of about 45
    minutes.

They called me called me about 2 days later. by this time the first week had already
    ended….
I made it very clear that there was nothing he could
do..What if it was my destiny to win that day!? I GUESS WE WILL
    NEVER KNOW.
And now I realize the person that “won” had to have got that
    question wrong!

BUT since i had him on the phone I insisted the least he could do
was answer some questions I had to perhaps compensate for what I had already
been thru. He agreed. And you better believe I asked ALLLLLLLLLLLLL MY
    QUESTIONS!! lol

While he was on the phone he told me there where 2 departments. One
that declares the winner and an auditing division. He worked for
auditing and claimed all he had access to see is how fast and how often
one played. If there where an issue he would be the one to dispute it.
And if there was suspension of cheating or violation of the rules the
“sponsor” would report to him and he would research into it.

So I elaborated on that asking, how can you tell if one is cheating?
Clearly these are culture questions…there’s not too many people left in the world who
Listen to rap music videos, travel the globe calculating mileage between 3rd world countries, watch movies before their
time paying attention to ridiculous detail while eating exotic foods and
researching famous peoples birthdays. You can only be so enlightened….

HE said verbatium:  “we cant, we just assume they are following the
rules until they give us reason to confirm otherwise.” the following day we call them, give them a
small interview and start their paperwork process. But this game is very real. and people are winning.”

I asked him what the winning scores were and he “claimed” he didnt know later in the conversation encouraging me to keep playing and that I was in the top tier. AT THE TIME (week one) My high score was 90 in one game…. but again that was week one…

I really just ended the convo by saying I know that this game is man made….but there are a lot of kinks that need to be worked out and over the course of its existance PLEASE get it together. He insisted they would….CLEARLY HE LIED.

Just as you think things couldn’t get any more unfair….All of a sudden in the middle of the contest they want to interrupt your progress to encourage you to use hints and skips. WE ALL KNOW THEY ARE THERE T-MOBILE WE SEE THEM EVERY QUESTION!!!….and I KNOW
I’M DOING GOOD. SO STOP TELLING ME! the reason we dont use them is because its a race against TIME…..Maybe if hints and skips where worth 2 POINTS people would use them!

And How can you expect today’s scores to even compete with the rest of the week
if EVERY three questions or so you tell me how good I’m doing….but didnt do it earlier this week?? Why not wait untill the contest period ends to change the game!?? I guess at this point we can all I kiss the Audi goodbye….

Might I add..I went in the Tmobile store to pay my bill….and NOT A SINGLE SOLE in there knew what I was talking about when I said “4gpay day”….I felt like a complete idiot….and I dont know whos ass to kick.

I’m starting to think T-mobile has nothing to do with this…..Get it together “4gPayday”…Because I still have this number and I will give it to everyone on this thread if I must….this is beyond ridiculous…..

Lets be real. You would be a FOOL not to use your book on an open book test. America is not that honest. If you want to compete…you better learn how to cheat and not get caught. Because you appear are non existent within the thousands that are “playing” this “game”. Its called 4g payday for a reason…if you don’t have a 4g phone you might was well throw in the towel as well…YES it makes that much of a difference…

But whos to say that real people are even winning…Your telling me that individuals that take part in a cell phone challenge dont have a facebook page??? YES I LOOKED UP EVERY ONE OF THEM…and found nothing. Are you trying to protect their identity? Its only 4,000……No real people, No real scores, No real hope…. this could very well be an organized scam…. to HELL with your hints and skips!

    • TmobileScamSucks

This is a great post…thank you.  Im starting to believe this game is a REAL SCAM.

With a first name last name and region I should be able to find you…. and if not…and lets not forget they have started to post those BOGUS pictures of what they look like too. I can match a face….

        Question of the day!
What are the odds that ALL of the winners of the 4g payday trivia game have a private profile on facebook?

        1= 100%
        2= < 1%
        3= China
4= Hint (This is the right answer no mater what)
5= Skip this please so you have a better chance of winning!!!

Hate to burst your bubble, but the game is indeed real.  Like you said, I found a winner online, spoke to her and confirmed it is real…unless all the winners are from the tmobile 4g payday group and all those pictures are of them!  lol

oh no T-mobile burst my bubble weeks ago….you have nothing to worry about…but since this is all public information would you mind saying who you spoke with? How you contacted them…what she said? Perhaps a winning score and  a date??….:)

  • Disappointed

This contest is almost assuredly a scam by T-Mobile – I’m willing to bet that there are no real winners and this is all a publicity stunt/way for T-Mobile to make some money before they are bought out. Why else would none of these “winners” have a facebook/myspace page? Why would T-Mobile not post the scores of the winners? How can people with scores in the 100s, or even 200s not win – T-Mobile can easily just arbitrarily say that these scores are too physically high or that they are too low to win. Everything is a secret and up to the discretion of T-Mobile, and the kinks in the game and these new messages every 3-5 questions are obviously meant to get our money.

Very disappointed in T-Mobile, and hope that someone will uncover their scam and report them. Bad business practice.

this game is stupid it doesn’t even have the right answers. like this morning I was playing and it asked me the question i googled it and the answer was 8 but it gave the options of 7 9 and 4 i double checked my answers so i put 9 because there was no answer on there correct. and said i was wrong. i like t-mobile as a service but I think sprint or verizon might gain a new customer very soon -_-

For all you big talkers out there who are saying they are scoring between 200 and 300, I’m going to call you out and say BS! Let’s start with 200. 200/60min means that you are getting 3.33 questions CORRECT per min. This implies that for a WHOLE HOUR you are getting a correct answer every 18 seconds! Between the delay of the question and the time it takes you to answer sounds pretty darn Herculean. That’s AMAZING, however your an idiot. And for the person who said they got 385: I laugh. That it implies you got one every 10 seconds for the entire hour. Surrrreeee.

    • Smoke

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you on this… I think over 200 without the help of an app of some sort is just not possible. Scores like 140-150 are possible though, depending on you luck, because t-mobile doesn’t reset the questions after one week, basically many of them are ‘recycled’, so if you play daily for 3 hours and you have a very good memory (also VERY GOOD reception on your phone), you will know the answer to many questions the second you see them, without having to do any research… on top of the very easy ones that everyone knows the answer to. That being said, the delays caused by the t-mobile network – many times intentional ! – make it impossible to score over 200, at least not without an app. Personally I’d prefer t-mobile uses brand new trivia questions every week, otherwise because of this the veteran players that play religiously 3 games every day hold an advantage – not fair in this case imo – over any new players.

This game is bunk!  I have played several times. The problem is … after about the sixths question is answered the questions take several minutes to come. It is unfair when the goal is to answer as many as possible in 60 minutes. Very unfair and frustrating. I am a loyal T mobile customer more than 5 years. Shame Shame Shame.
Also, I am not on a smart phone. I have an old razor. lol

  • Skoota

i dont really know how you can determine if a person is cheating or not and over that what do they consider cheating? obviously if you have time ticking away and you dont know the answer your going to do research to get it. AND if your getting scores of 200-300 or more your responses are going to be pretty quick. i think its all bologna and people need to stop wasting their time and even more stop complaining.

That’s strange.  Disney LAND is in Anaheim, California, as you indicated, while Disney WORLD is in Orlando, Florida.  But I received the same question as you, and gave the same answer as you, and got credit for it!  Makes no sense that I got credit and you did not; answer was correct both times.

Is it possible you accidentally hit the wrong number, even as you were thinking the correct answer?  I believe that in my haste I have done that once or twice.

  • Yungwill11_koolest

This contest is a bunch of bullshit. What state is Disney Land located? 1.florida. 2. california. 3 Washington
I chose California and the next txt message said sorry that was a tough question you should have used a hint or skip…I was like wtf I got the answer right but o well

  • NotBuyinIt

In all honesty I believe that this game is nothing but a big scam. No one is talking about this game that works fir tmobile nor have there been any reports that ppl have won except for that phony stuff that’s on the website. I need some evidence of this

    • Meneither

it is a scam.  not even on t-mobile website.  call 611 and no one knows about it!  lol

    • Meneither

      • NotBuyinit

I checked out the website for the winners & it’s a calendar of these so called winners that they have up. After a month of the game being out I just got an email about it today. Y would u not send out an email about it earlier to all ur customers ahead of time?! I think they did it to get more ppl to play & buy into these skips & hints to get more $ off of us smh

    • Kfshavers

I agree with that assessment. It is t-mobile’s way of trying to raise extra cash with the skips and hints. How do we know if those are legitimate winners or just t-mobile employees.

  • NoContractCustomer

Please pardon my English as I am Russian speaking. Do you remember how the winner is determined? “The winner of the day is the player with the most consecutive correct answers in one game. And in the event of a tie, the most consecutive answers in the shortest amount of time will be declared the winner.” So maybe someone other than you was able to give more correct answers than you did (one more is enough I believe :) And as everybody get to answer same questions, everybody must have come across those that had “wrong right answer”. So when you gave the right answer but in their system they had a different (wrong) answer for a correct one (by mistake or not:), The Game told you you were wrong. But another person might have given the wrong answer to that question but it appeared in the system as a correct one. So that person got further in the game than you. Lets assume that one day there was an error in the game and for question # 10 didn’t accept any answer as a correct one. In this case there would be tens of thousands of players with the same score. So who is the winner? Its rather easy. It would someone who reached and answered  that question first. So if you say you gave 200 correct answers and didn’t win it is simply because somebody was a bit quicker and gave 201. My best score is 62 by the way. I only played 4 times. My phone is not
4G. It is EDGE or 2G if you will :) But I don’t blame my phone as I
spent a fair amount of time googling for answers and even 120 would be next to impossible for me. What I am trying to say is that you are not trying to beat The Game but other players. Nevertheless I really doubt that there will be any prizes awarded to “simple people”. Not cars anyway. Maybe few lucky customers will get the 4k prize as a nice gesture from generous T-mobile so they could spread the word  Which would be their attempt to not look as total d-bags. If they would bother, that is :) I think T-Mobile is a fine cellular provider and they shouldn’t have come up with this trivia game as it will get a lot of people frustrated and worsen whatever reputation they have/had.

  • Mfiaprncss

How are ya’ll getting 142+??  you have a cheater app??  my highest score is 52 and that’s answering them as fast as they would come to my phone??  They take FOREVER!!!!

    • Dontworry

don’t worry, those are ALL lies.  anything over 120 is NOT possible.  you definitely need 4g, it makes  BIG difference.  highest I got was 98.

      • Jazzmanmonty

it is possible to get over 120. i get bored at work, and when i play i calculate my ques/min average. they vary between 2.3 and 2.7 best ever was 2.85. note that i only calculated averages when i’d get about half way thru or farther, usually getting a wrong answer because of the infamous correct answers marked wrong.  but if you average 2.5 lets say, you’re looking at 150 questions.  the “pop-ups” really suck though. i know that i’m on a roll!! lol quit throwing off my game tmobile!

    • Dontworry

whoops i meant to post 82.  highest i got was 82.

  • Narania73

I got the answer right…but its says wrong answer…n. that’s correct answer…this game s a fake..!its unfair..tmobile s lyin to us..I hve been playin this game sinceit started n got all answers correct but when they see u get all correct answers find areason to end game..that’s unfair….

  • Jean

Clearly this is a waist of my time, So I’m just going to stop playing the game.  I don’t know that I would win any way.  But I came to look for substance, because I got an answer right and it said it was wrong.  Thus I wanted to see if they are actual winners out there.  You know, something to hope for.  I can’t find winners anywhere on the web.  Furthermore I come to realize that my best day is not close enough to win, so I’m just going to stop the this major waist of my time.

    • Jazzmanmonty

what was your best day? i was at 104 with about 17 min left and got one of the infamous “correct answer marked wrong”

      • Jazzmanmonty

        typo: 10 min left

  • Rock

I too have faced many issues with this. When trying to answers questions, the network drops the signal which was good till the time I started the game. Also, there are questions with wrong or multiple answers.
Sometimes, the next questions shows up very late and by that time we would have lost some time.
Tmobile has not included any way to communicate to them about this contest. Waste of time.

  • Mad Russian

Like many others, I came here in the hope of getting some idea what kind of a score it takes to win, and also whether the people who win are using “Hint” or “Skip” or not.

I spent a while browsing earlier comments below.  I found a number of comments suggesting that people had obtained scores well above 100, and hadn’t won.

Further down, I saw even earlier comments talking about scores over 200 (and some even over 300!), although I saw other, more recent comments that questioned these earlier claims, and suggested they had been made up in an attempt to discourage others from playing.

Either way, it sounds well out of my reach.  I got a score of 72 one day last week, but was not the winner for the day.  A few hours ago I got my highest score yet — a 78 — but from what I’ve read here, that won’t even be close to the running.  (And this time, for the first time so far, I did what I swore to myself I would not do — I actually incurred a 1-dollar charge by skipping a question.)

Are people really getting #s that much higher than my own?

I’m good at trivia, and good with computers, but it sounds like I’m getting my ass kicked!

    I am using an older phone — I don’t know if it’s even 3G; it certainly isn’t 4G.

Certainly a lot of the questions are ridiculously easy, so that it’s just a matter of how quickly one can press Reply, enter a 1, 2 or 3, and hit Send.  And then wait for the next question to arrive.  If the only questions were ones like these, phone mechanics and connection speed would be the binding constraint, and scores above 200 would be possible provided the questions keep coming fast enough.  (Just in passing, the delays I’ve observed seem more like server delays than like delays in network transmission.)

However, then there are the questions that require one to look up people’s birthdays on Google, or look at a map of Paris or Cambodia or wherever in Google Maps, or do a quick calculation.  Or — every once in a while — guess among three utterly random choices no one could possibly know (e.g., what time was showing on someone’s clock in some old Hitchcock movie, or in episode ___ of 90210: 12:04, 12:07 or 12:08?).  Those take longer (unless one is willing to pay the money to skip them, anyway).  And pretty-much all of us have encountered questions where we have to stop and think a bit about what they mean, because of sloppiness in the writing of the question and/or the answers.

Which makes me think that connection speed is not as important as knowing a lot of trivia, and being quick at using Google or Google Maps, or one’s calculator.  (And perhaps being willing to pay the buck to skip the stupid question.)  I have had spurts where I actually could crank out several answers per minute, and sustain that rate for 2 or 3 minutes, but the luck of the question-draw has never allowed me to maintain that pace for very long.

    Thoughts, anyone?

    • Mad Russian

P.S.  It really ticks me off that T-Mobile isn’t being forthcoming about the #s, and about what kind of score it takes to be in the running to win.  I believe I have company in that regard.

  • Mad Russian

On the subject of official answers being wrong, I have encountered several such instances myself:

One is discussed by someone else (“Mad”) below — the one that asks “What is a stimulus?”  The answer choices are (in some order) stylus, “stimlus,” and smilodon.  “Mad” did not recognize smilodon as the best-known species of extinct saber-tooth cat, so that is what he picked.  He knew it could not be stylus — a writing instrument or record player needle — and he also knew it could not be “stimlus,” because that is not even a real word.  And yet, “stimlus” — a misspelling of stimulus that is so common that it generates some 75,000 Google hits — turns out to be exactly what they wanted!

Another concerns tennis pro Andre Agassi, and asks how many “Grand Slam” tournaments he won in his career.  As it happens, he won 8 “Grand Slam” singles titles (and no doubles or mixed doubles titles), but 8 is not even one of the answer choices given!  7 and 9 are the two closest, and it turns out that 7 is the one the officials give credit for.

(I guessed lucky, but I wasted several extra minutes double-checking to make sure he hadn’t won any “Grand Slam” doubles titles that would have raised his actual count to 9.  Naturally, the question did not specify singles titles only; the way it was asked, doubles titles MIGHT have counted too, if he’d won any.  It was really tough to submit an answer I knew was wrong.)

A third example concerned the spice (or whatever) lemongrass; it asked where one would be most likely to find it.  One of the answers was Vietnam, and since lemongrass is used in lots of Vietnamese as well as Thai dishes, I figured that was probably the answer they wanted.  But I used Google to double-check, and discovered from Wikipedia and a number of other sources that there like two dozen different varieties of lemongrass, and a bunch of them are native to Australia.  Which was one of the other two answer choices.  (I forget the third.)  Since spices and other ingredients CAN be imported, and since NO source I could find said anything about lemongrass GROWING in Vietnam, I changed my mind and went with Australia.
And that was where my game ended!  I ASSUME that my original guess — Vietnam — is the answer they wanted, but it really pissed me off that one of the other two choices given was at least as correct in fact as the official answer. Those are the three examples that stick in my mind.  I think I had a couple of others, but I can’t remember them now.  And I’ll bet other people have examples of their own.

Additional to those my wrong right answer to who announce the invention of the electric battery (Volta, hence volt) ended my streak as well. I know i had another one but cannot recall. i definitely agree that an official release of scores with dates would legitimize this game.

      • Mad Russian

If it wasn’t invented by Alessandro Volta, in 1800, by whom did they say it was invented?  Could you tell which answer they thought WAS right?  Sheesh!

        • TmoPlayer

Read the question.  Alessandro Volta invented the battery but the question ask WHO ANNOUNCED the invention. A totally different person.  May 28, 1902:  Thomas Edison announced the invention of the electric battery.

Good luck to all still playing!

This game has a variety of questions with 75% of the questions having nothing to do with intelligence but rather with who can complete a research on absolutely worthless and mindless questions.  Who cares what color Rhiannas’ fire hydrant is in one of her videos or how much older Britney Spears is than Kate Middleton or in what episode of 30 rock a hat is worn with a certain saying or how many WBA championships Barry McGuigan won. II could go on and on.  Are the answers to these questions something that one needs to know?  This game is a definite time waster and probably keeps people from doing work that they are supposed to do……Good luck to anyone who has enough tome to waste…..

  • Jazzmanmonty

i finally completed a full hour on friday with a good score.  138.  i’ll let you know next week if that wins anything or not.  on a side note on tmobile usa facebook page they posted two winners top scores, 138 and 133.  the 138 on the 4payday winners page won $4000, but didn’t win the Audi.  We shall see how my 138 holds up.

    • Tmonews

I got 143 on Monday!  Feeling pretty good since they posted 133 and 138 and winners!

      • Jazzmanmonty

we will see tomorrow when they contact winners.  hopefully our numbers work out.  but what i’m thinking is when they posted the 133 and 138 they probably chose winners that won with the lowest score, and from a few weeks ago.  hopefully they aren’t trying to give false hope, but we shall see.

        • Mad Russian

Congratulations to both of you on you scores.  How do you get so high?  Do you have a 4G connection already?  Is it really substantially faster, even for just texting?  And do you ever bother to use HINT or SKIP?

Also, has T-Mobile finally started posting winning scores, and not just winners’ first names and last initials, on the 4GPayDay Web site?

        • Jazzmanmonty

idk about tmonews’s techniques, but i use a samsung galaxy s 4g. i can’t say about the speed, sometimes there is some lag between questions, and sometimes they rapid fire a bunch in a row (of course with the stupid you’re on a roll texts).  i haven’t used hints, but i used skips a lot. usually if i can’t find the answer quickly i’ll use one, but they take about 20 seconds to process..it sux because you’re supposed to have 3 skips per game, but it seems like u get 3 skips for all three games.  i guess it all depends on how easy the questions you get in the game are. some times i’ll get 70 per hour because of the stupid map related questions or spending time double checking tricky questions and the wording.

tmobile only posted two scores 133 and 138 on their facebook page, but no where else. i wish someone would come out that won a car and post their score. and i still can’t figure out the right answer for the amount of dances in the opening of step up even though i’ve watched the clip several times.  its not 3! i know that much for sure. any help?:)

        • Tmonews

looks like we won’t be getting calls.  its 6pm EST and i have not received a call.  I’m using the HTC sensation 4g, but live in a 2g area.  i am about to post a long blog about this game.  anyone know where i can blog without it being moderated by tmonews?

        • Jazzmanmonty

i didn’t get calls either : / i can’t wait to hear your thoughts about the game. i’d like to blog about it too. i’d  say just post here and see what happens.

        • Tmonews

last time i posted here, i wrote a LONG blog and when i hit post….it said the post needed to be approved by tmonews moderators.  and i still don’t see it posted here so i think they just deleted it.  i didn’t feel like writing it again on here.  i have a lot to say about this game tho.

        • Jazzmanmonty

i hear ya. maybe try posting again and copy/paste from notepad so u can save if it doesn’t go thru.  i hate the fact that when u are honestly competing (meaning very little time to look up stuff) you are forced to skip some of the idiotic questions from movies that they know you won’t have time to look up and are forced tho hint/skip.  Its kind of a given you have no chance, unless you do so.  i mean if i hit 138 and tmonews hit 143, and no wins, you have to figure about 150+ is prolly needed to win.  that’s 2.5 ques/min. 143 is 2.38 ques/min and 138 is 2.3 ques/min..  so you can see how every second counts!  i’ve had runs where i’m going strong for almost a half hour, and do a stupid mistake like misread or type in wrong answer, but can run at about 3 ques/min. now if i can only last an hour at that speed.  but at that speed, we are talking 180 ques in an hour!  its fun to calculate the averages once you’re at about a half hour to see how you do.. (don’t stop in the middle of your game of course lol but if you get knocked out)  but don’t think if you get 3.8 for calculating first ten min on an ez streak that its accurate.  so if you’re playing and not hitting in the hundreds, honestly don’t waste your money on skips and hints, because as you can see from the math, 130’s and 140’s aren’t really cutting it for wins.  like i said, i think tmobile posted the two lowest winning scores in the entire game to motivate others that are hitting that range. but neither guy posted won the audi.  i wish they posted an audi winners score!!!!!

        • Tmonews

yeah me too.  i started the blog because this game is killing me and the only way i can win is to talk it out…lol.  i want that audi so bad.  you probably need over 160 at this point in the game to win the $4000, but i can honestly tell you i got over 200 this past weekend and did not win the audi.  you need to keep average of 3.8 to 4 every min to win.  i believe that week the winners did get 133 and 138.  i am already a daily winner, but want to be a weekly winner!

        • Jazzmanmonty

200 is amazing to get..granted thats one question every 15.8 seconds and most questions are answered in a split second of being sent.  just shows you the amount of lag time between their “interruptions” and between sending and receiving. even with an avg of 3.8 thats 228 questions/hr, at exactly 15 seconds per question.  my biggest gripe is how on avg every three questions you the the “interruption” but sometimes you get lucky and get 7 or 8 without one.  i had timed a maps questions and it literally took me under 6 seconds to research and send answer.  i think that is the most unfair part of the game is that the “interruptions” aren’t constant for every player.  there are times i’ll get it after each question for 2 or 3 in a row.  i guess that its the luck of the draw of how many of those you get because that kills about 10 seconds each.  And yes we have a life readers, we just don’t believe in failure lol.  tmonews where did you set up a blog?

I’m in a similar situation, but you’ve got me beat with your score. I finally managed to be a daily winner a while back. It was a couple of weeks ago, but there were some delays in getting the paperwork to me and I will hopefully be getting a check soon. My score the day I won was 164. I was actually pretty surprised that the winners t-mobile listed were only in the 130s. Certainly that must be some of the lower winning scores. I think it must vary quite a bit day to day. Sometimes I will have good days and other days I won’t score more than 100 before getting tripped up.
I’ve still been playing some, but not as much as I was. So far the highest I’ve gotten with all of the delays is 183 last week. Last night I got 175, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t going to be the weekly high score.
By the way, I saw your blog before it went private. Good job on your algorithm/figuring out the pattern. I was thinking about figuring out exactly how frequent the delays were, but you beat me to it. Any chance you can send me an invite to the blog? I don’t use blogspot and don’t really know how it works, but this screen name at gmail is what I use, if you are willing to send an invite. You seem to be a step ahead of me, so I don’t know that it would be of much use, but I can share some of my techniques.

I had about 20 minutes left after getting,  “Good! 21 minutes left”  and then the next question. When I answered the question it stated that was the end of the game for me and my highest score is 43. WTF!

t-mobile is tyring to mess up the contest with its new question about movies:

    which film made more money($)?
    1= the departed
    2= x-men
    3= hercules

    i chose x-men and it’s wrong! can’t believe it…

    • Jazzmanmonty

these new money ones are b.s.

      sixth sense
      golden eye
      x2

sixth sense more than doubles the rest, wrong!

I’ve not played yet today and now I’m dreading those questions. Are they asking anything more specific than which “made the most money?” Meaning, do they ask about profits after costs specifically or any idea if the money is adjusted for inflation? (Although that shouldn’t really matter since the movies you guys listed are all fairly recent.) Any idea if it is JUST box office sales or things like DVDs?
And if the right answers are being counted as wrong, any idea which answers t-mobile are considering right, yet?

        • Tmonews

t-mobile really screwed up on this one.  i got all 3 games wrong today because of those questions.  it’s always depends on what exactly they are looking for, but they don’t give specifics in the questions.  and they really need to make these changes in the beginning of the week, not in the middle.  so whoever got the highest on monday or tuesday is probably going to win the audi because they change the questions on wednesday.

        • Jazzmanmonty

i took some time to research the three movies, and in all categories, from US profit, Nationwide profit, to DVD sale profit…only one was highest in all three categories.  i compared net vs gross and still the same movie was highest.  even with my obsession for the game, i’m ready to call tmobile and have them refund me for all my skips. this is B.S. between this new category, the misspellings, the incorrect answers being correct, and getting a question yesterday that was from a day earlier “today is which day of the year”…144 correct from the day before..next evening first question same, so you’d think ok now its 143..nope wrong.  lost an entire game to it.  i agree with tmonews that they should have started new theme of movie questions sunday and been less vague about what they are asking for because frankly the movie category makes NO sense..

        • Smoke

I’m absolutely with you guys on this one… they totally messed up the movie $$$ questions… I already got hit by 3 of these questions, 2 times I used the worldwide box office numbers, and the 3rd time I used the US box office numbers and it still said it was wrong. They’re idiots, total idiots… TMOBILE I want a refund !! for both my time spent on this game and the few $ I spent on skips…. pathetic.

I would LOVE my money back!!!!!

Has anyone recently started to have trouble receiving the next question from 4444? Like, you would send an answer, and there would be no reply, and so you resend it, and then find out that not only have you been wasting time resending your answer but that the next day, you have lost all your 3 chances because you resent your answers a few times the day before???

What is going on with this game? I remember at the beginning of this game we used to have these problems, but they were resolved months ago, and now they start again.

That happened to me on Sunday night for the first time. I usually play sometime between 9pm-2am EST. As I was playing my last game, I wasn’t getting a response after I submitted an answer. So I would hit resend and still get no response. Eventually it would send me the question and I would respond and get a new question. Then it wouldn’t respond to my answer again. Finally, I got frustrated and knew it was pointless to keep playing at that pace and quit for the night. Then a few hours later, I noticed a bunch of texts had arrived for the next three games and it had used the lost answers from earlier for those. It ran through all three games with my responses for another game hours earlier.

Some of the questions are mispelled so it throws you off..i.e.
In Indonesia, which town is farther west?
    1=Bengkulu
    2=Pinding——Which is actually Pandang
    3=Gaung
I’ve also had numerical questions with answers that were somewhat close to the real answer.

they messed up everything, don’t even feel like playing anymore …especially the map questions

Anyone else having trouble tonight? My last game yesterday finished around 1am EST. Tonight I texted “start” and received this: “Sorry, that’s not a valid answer. You have to send 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Remember you have HINT or SKIP for $1 if you’re unsure about the answer. Please try again.”
I get that response any time I text “start” or “resend.” I entered “stats” and it said I had 0 games left for the day and my highest score for the day was 99. That was the highest score I got yesterday but I hadn’t even started a game yet today. The days of the game are split at 3am EST, but I know that was the score from yesterday and I don’t have any games left for today. (Even though the last game I played was last night.)

Some the questions that are giving don’t have a right answer as a choice like in the case of : Nadia Comaneci scored perfect tens in the 1976 Olympics.
    1=7
    2=0
    3=4 …
the right question is 1.00 because at that time the machine could not display a perfect 10 score with 4 digits. Given the choices I have chosen #2 and have been outed while been in my 36th answer. It is frustrating, the system is flawed. I am out…

While the score was DISPLAYED as 1.00, the actual score she earned was 10. She earned 7 of them.

I just dont get the questions where they ask which capital is farther north (city) (city) (city)…Those questions are hard to find the answers to. I used Ask.com, chacha.com, answers.yahoo.com and Weegy.com and still cant find half of the answers! And I have the same problem where i will answer a question correctly and itll say its wrong! smh
