(Updated) T-Mobile Currently Testing G2x Maintenance Release/Gingerbread Update?

Update: We believe this is a market specific opportunity for employees in an as of yet undetermined region. We have been unable to confirm this as a nationwide opportunity for frontline employees. Please don’t post your number or IMEI in the comments, or I’ll prank call you myself. Seriously.

While the mystery of the T-Mobile G2x inventory continues, the much anticipated Gingerbread update is about to get some love through employee testing. According to this internal email T-Mobile frontline employees who are currently using a G2x smartphone might qualify to test Gingerbread and it’s maintenance release on their own personal device. While there have been some rumors about a G2x Gingerbread update coming out this week or the next, with no current date set for this trial it seems likely we are still looking at some time before the update rolls out to the public. Of course we’ll update as we know more!

Hello,

M&P and our product development team will be performing a test for the G2X MR that contains a list of updates to the phone including a Gingerbread upgrade.  We would like to invite all frontline representatives currently using or have a G2X to participate.  Anyone willing to participate will be invited to a page set up in the Community where they can input their findings and comments.  The MR would be sent over the air (FOTA) so all you would need to do is accept the update and allow it to update.

The dates of the test are still being worked out but if you are interested in participating in the test, please respond to this email and include the following information:

  1. User 10 digit phone number
  2. G2X IMEI that will be used for the test

We will provide a comprised list of participants to the business owner byThursday  6/23/2011. Anyone participants in the test will receive a follow up communication with all the information needed once the details have been worked out.
