T-Mobile Announces The myTouch 4G Slide!

T-Mobile officially announces the myTouch 4G Slide this morning, the latest signature myTouch device to launch with 4G capability. The myTouch 4G Slide features “the most advanced camera of any smartphone with zero shutter lag, backside illuminated sensor and additional premium digital camera features that offer consumers a viable replacement for their digital point-and-shoot cameras.”

“Knowing that the best camera is the one you’ve got with you, we set out to create a new best-in-class smartphone that allows our customers to leave their cameras at home,” said Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president, marketing, T-Mobile USA. “Our newest myTouch device takes capturing and sharing memories to a new level by combining high-quality smartphone hardware with features that customers would expect from a top-of-the-line digital camera.”

The myTouch 4G Slide is perfect for capturing the moment with a camera that compares to a dedicated digital camera and includes some advanced features:

  • Improved low-light Performance: with a backside illuminated sensor and a wide aperture lens (f/2.2)
  • Zero shutter lag: innovative software features allow for an instantaneous shot at that precise moment
  • SweepShot: for capturing panoramic shots by sweeping across an entire scene in a single motion
  • ClearShot HDR: for capturing objects in bright settings so your photos are not affected by high-contrast lighting
  • BurstShot: for capturing multiple photos in a quick burst so you don’t miss the perfect photo

The myTouch 4G Slide also features a full HD 1080p camcorder with audio recording and the ability to edit your videos directly on the device. The 4G slide comes with a 3.7″ WVGA Super LCD touchscreen display, slide-out full qwerty keyboard, Android 2.3, Sense 3.0 and partners up with T-Mobile’s super fast 4G network with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

The myTouch 4G Slide also puts the phone’s superb camera ability to work with video chat powered by Qik along with Group Text powered by Bobsled. Bobsled offers an “innovative way to send and receive text messages with groups of friends.” The new “Genius” button offers voice commands powered by Dragon Dictation from Nuance enabling users to call, text, find a business or search the web with just one touch of a button. Hand’s free mode allows customers to stay connected on the road while staying safe on the road by reading all notifications out loud.

Last by not least the myTouch 4G slide comes preloaded with entertainment fun including T-Mobile TV, Netflix and YouTube.

The myTouch 4G Slide will be available sometime in July in two colors, Black and Khaki.

ehh for the price point your better off going with the sensation

    • Lothinator

Dunno, at least they didn’t nerf the processor power. However, for me, the screen size is a bit too small. Spoiled to 4″. And I don’t *need* a physical keyboard as I send maybe 1 text or facebook post per day at max.

they didnt nerf the Sensation either? The sensation is better equipped than the MT4Gslide

People who want this phone want a hw keyboard.  The Sensation doesn’t have a hw keyboard, so it’s not a substitute.

I would get this phone over the sensation because of that nice looking hardware keyboard.  It also looks like it’s about the same size as the G2, which is the perfect size.  I like a good 4.3″ screen (I also carry a DroidX for my work for those times that I’m on call)  However, the 4.3″ form factor is just too wide & tall to be pocketable.  My G2 fits perfectly in virtually every “5th pocket” on all my jeans.  The DroidX, doesn’t fit in any.  Same with shirt pockets.  The DroidX peeks over the top.

Aside from the size of the screen and the keyboard, it appears that the Sensation and the Slide are fairly identical.  Maybe the slide might have a superior camera & camera functions (looking at the way they’re marketing the phone).  I like the idea of a larger aperture.  Still won’t replace my DSLR.

actually they are no where near the same hardware wise? Sensation has a dual core OMAP4 last time i checked made by TI versus Qualcomm, i could be wrong though, The Sensation has a 4.3 inch QHD SLCD screen the MT4GS has a measly 3.7 WVGA SLCD btw WVGA’s look ugly very ugly actually. same screen that the CLIQ had and the original MYTOUCH and MT3GS

LOL, the Moto Cliq has a HVGA display, the Screen size can’t handle WVGA and it uses TFT LCD.. both (I mean Sensation vs My4GS) run a 3rd Gen Qualcomm SnapDrag Processor as 1.2Ghz, the only big difference is the WVGA Res, but that’s because it’s a smaller screen hence the resolution to display ratio..

      • Anonymous

Uhh no, there’s no OMAP on either phone and it’s not the WVGA(resolution) that make’s the screen look so bad it’s the LCD type.   Standard LCD vs. SLCD

        AMOLED FTW though.

Woah, woah, woah Bob…. Woah. How does the MT4GS get Netflix preloaded and the Sensation doesn’t even get the market option!? Thank everything that is righteous in this world for the XDA wizards for making things happen where the manufactures fail!

f/2.2 is the same as on the N9. This may very well be the best subsidized camera phone in the States since neither the N8 or N9 are sold via US carriers.

My attention has been grabbed. Time to replace my G2 and compliment my N8 and N900. Nokia should have announed a July release for the N9…..another missed opportunity.
