Radio Shack Thinks The Nokia Astound Runs Android

Oh Radio Shack you so craaaazy. The Nokia Astound doesn’t run Android, it’s runs Symbian and how on earth can you confuse those two? At the very least, the phone is on sale for free with a new line or two year contract extension!

Thanks Chuck!

I’ve always said Nokia should have gone with Android and not Microsoft ;)

Android in a Nokia build with their new cameras would be awesome

    • Ajg1718

Nokia did not go with microsoft, otherwise they would have windows mobile on their devices… The Symbian platform was created by merging and integrating software assets contributed by Nokia,NTT DoCoMo, Sony Ericsson and Symbian

I think he is referring to the semi-recent announcemnet by nokia and microsoft that nokia will be using Windows Phone for their smart phones from here on out.  Many people said they should move from Symbian to android, but they decided to go with MS.

RADIO SHACK NEED TO HIRE PEOPLE WITH SOME KNOWLEDGE NOT KROGER DROPOUTS

MAYBE IF THEY PAID US MORE THAN PEOPLE AT KROGER WE WOULD KNOW MORE

Ok just because The Shack’s advertising department can’t get it right doesn’t mean they don’t know what they are doing. Radio Shack employees are some of the most inteligent people working in modern electronics to date. I will never go to another store to buy a cell phone or any electronics for that matter. They always answer my questions and their phone prices are always cheaper than most places. So I say we give ‘em one. Everybody makes mistakes. e.g. the  two comments before mine. (grammer) come on.

    • LumpSum

you spelled grammar wrong. check yourself before you wreck yourself

Got a giggle that even David “liked” that one!

  • SECRET

BTW ASK THEM SOME QUESTION ON PHONES IF U WANNA HAVE FUN

    • None

Ask to see a live version of a phone here in Baltimore at the Shack and they laugh your out of the store.  Live models in even corporate stores are becoming harder to find.  2 TMO stores in Arundel Mills mall (one corporate, one huge but useless) had at least half the phones as dummy models and had no live BB, Windows Phone, or even a live Astound.

It depends on which radioshack you go to. The one near my house is run by a ton of technogeeks so they know everything about phones and electronics.. when i was in there geeking out with them, we came to phones and they were discussing the OS’ of the phones and we began pondering why Nokia decided to go with Symbian and not android.

    • http://twitter.com/carcomptoy Jeremiah

Run by technogeeks?  Then they should have known that Nokia “went with Symbian” since the Nokia 7650 in 2002…long before Android was a twinkle in Google’s eye much less Andy Rubin’s with the original Android, Inc.

      • Rayen321

“The one near my house is run by a ton of technogeeks..” Read the whole statement.

that still has little to do with the fact that the marketing director is probably just some shmuck that is good with indesign with little to no knowledge of technogeekery. Also many many employees wrote in about this mistake to the point where i’m pretty sure either the guy who did this lost his job or got in a GREAT DEAL of trouble

  • Carmen Diva

I prefer Best Buy over radio shack because they are more knowledgeable
but Radio shack seems to be a lot more nicer with customer service

that said, it was a simple mistake…i’ve seen Best buy make plenty of
    errors.

Some of the comments are truly unnecessary and rather ignorant

    • Anonymous

depends on where you go. I work for RS and everybody in my store knows a redonk amount about the phones but if i go to best buy i get THE WORST service and nobody knows a dang thing

  • Dj

And that’s why TMO revenue is so low in RS because of stuff like this….and why in the hell are they STILL OFFERING THE EVO. its so 2.1

  • tinkle

couldnt just put the g2x or the galaxy s 4g up there could they??? come on marketing director???
