Excellent feedback on the article. Gold star to you.

Without a physical QWERTY keyboard, personally for me, myTouch 4G Slide > Sensation 4G.  If you’re going to be dissing phones, at least get the names right.  Not everyone likes having to deal with touchscreen keyboards.  I like to push actual buttons when I’m writing.

      • Anonymous

Agree completely!  This phone should be compared to other available hw-QWERTY phones only.  Otherwise the MAIN criticism of this phone would be “Why is it so thick and heavy?”  Answer:  ”Because it has a keyboard!”

$200 for this phone? Isn’t that abit kinda alot for this phone comparing to other phone such as Sensation or the G2x. not my cup of tea.

    • Anonymous

It has a faster CPU than the G2X and the same one as the Sensation.

How does it not compare? Besides the qHD screen on the Sensation.

      • Petey

        umm, thanks for the info.

        • Anonymous

You clearly needed it since you didn’t see how it held up against the G2X and Sensation.

      • Jontseg

just because the processor is clocked at 1.2 Ghz doesn’t mean its better. The Tegra 2 chipset is much faster, and has a way better gpu

        • Anonymous

Tegra 2 is better for gaming. Snapdragon is better for productivity.

So you’re saying the speed of the CPU doesn’t matter?

How much is “much faster”?  You must mean 3 or 4 times faster, right?  Or do you mean 5% faster?  Words like “much” don’t mean anything without quant.

Khaki seems an odd color for a cell phone but I kinda like it.  I expect TMO marketing to highlight this as a “feature”.

Working at the zoo, the khaki actually IS a plus for me.  Unfortunately the apes are way too interested in slides.  {:( |)

Texting in front of the ape with a banana yellow phone?  Shame!  {:( |)

        • None

I made the mistake of letting one of the little ones play with my slide feature phone.  It was handed back (gently) in pieces.  Lesson learned.  I would love to teach her to take pictures of herself with a front facing camera but I do not have the courage to hand over my phone.  Not testing out gorilla glass with an orangutan (unless gorilla glass wants to let her borrow one of their products to test!!).
TMO, I could do your advertising for you!

Pimp, how about letting me borrow your Hercules when it comes out and see how {:( |) likes it!
She will give it back, I promise!

Why is everyone hating on this phone so much, saying that the Sensation is light years ahead of it??  It’s still got a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, it still has Sense/Espresso UI, and while it has a lower resolution and smaller screen, it’s got a physical keyboard.  Why can’t the two phones co-exist in peace just like the myTouch 4G and the G2 did before late last year?

Personally, I would love to have the MT4G Slide…my G2′s showing its age with its struggling single-core 800MHz processor and crappy camera [software].

    • 19fonzy

      Amen to that!! ….
I just don’t get whhy people are comparing it to the g2x and sensation and saying that they’re better? Heck this phone is right up there with the g2x and sensation. Each one of these phones has their pros and cons. This phone is a keyboard phone thats why its smaller But it has the best camera of any of the HTC phone’s out at the moment and it has the same dual core processor the sensation has! Another great device to add to T-Mobiles line up of high end android phones.

      • Anonymous

The only advantage the Sensation has over this IMO are way better looks, the front of the MT4GS just looks bad compared to the rear of the phone. Maybe HTC designed the rear and T-Mobile designed the front.

        • None

The back is 100% HTC visually.  The front, unfortunately, is 100% myTouch

    • Antoinetrenton

The g2 is still one of the best out there is stock android and I have no problems with it camra is is fast for me I’m just wateing android 2.3 and if you don’t like the 800mh just over clock it

      • Anonymous

And when you overclock a 1.2GHz processor — two of them at that — it’s even faster! ;)

        • Antoinetrenton

I seen somebody overclook there G2. To 1.9 Hz and score 2390 gpu and cpu speeds and is fast and I read and seen the new snapdragon chip is not has powerfull has tager2 chips and becaues of htc overlay is going to bring the phone down I can do what I plasses with my G2

        • Chris

your comparing an overclocked G2 to a new stock snapdragon processor. Overclock that and you’ll see the  huge difference. I myself have a G2 thats overclocked to 1.5Mhz and its fast and snappy enough for me ;)

But yea, I would like to try out the 4G slide eventually…

    • Anonymous

      Yup!
Any comparison that doesn’t include the fact that this phone has a hardware keyboard and other recent dual-core T-Mo phones DON’T have hw keyboards is a bogus comparison. Don’t want a hw keyboard? That’s fine — then this isn’t the phone for you; why carry a thicker/heavier phone if you don’t want a hw keyboard? But a hw keyboard is a primary feature, not a secondary one (such as a dedicated camera button), so it needs to be weighed (figuratively, as well as literally) in any comparison.

HDR as in High Dynamic Range photography or HDR as in some new marketing term?

    • Nick

also, what’s the benefit of a dual flash?

    • Anonymous

It means HDR in the photo sense.  The promo video shows that 3 different exposures are taken and merged.

Now is it clear why Tmobile stop carrying the G2. Besides vanilla android (and that’s debatable) this phone is superior in every way. Well maybe not build quality, have to wait for hands on to determine that.

I don’t know how I feel about this phone.  Sure, it’s an improvement from the MyTouch 3G Slide (thank God) but I feel like there still are some things lacking in this phone.  Personally, I would have liked to see a 5 row QWERT keyboard with a dedicated number row (just like the Touch Pro 2).  Also, I know T-Mobile is all about customer service, they should have listened to the My Touch 3G users and gotten rid of the genius button.  Instead of having a dedicated button and allowing for that feature to always be running they should have it as an option/app on the phone so that those who actually do use it (I have yet to meet someone who uses it on a regular basis) can use it.

I guess only time will tell if this phone is all that it’s cracked up to be.  I was kind of disappointed that they focused on the cameras phone when the majority of smart phone users are more interested in speed of the phone, memory, social networking, etc… but it definitely is a HUGE improvement and am excited about the sick camera on this phone.  But the main question/issue I had with the current MTS 3G that I own is it lags sometime, the screen is too small (I see they didn’t really fix that issue with the ginormous logo on the top) and I have literally NO internal memory.  Oh, and did I mention the battery life is disgustingly bad?  I’m interested to see through video reviews and hands on if T-Mobile fixed the battery issue and made this phone a powerhouse or if it’s just another mediocre phone that comes in khaki (ftw)..

Not crazy about the look of the phone, but that’s not a deal breaker. Looks like my choice for an upgrade is going to be between this or the Sensation. REALLY excited to try this camera.

When David buys one, I will. OR you can do what he is doing and wait for the iPhone 5 that will likely run on any network.

Even on wifi my G2 blows like the wind. iphone 3GS rocks on it at over 20M. G2 5. I am exceeding convinced that Apple has it right, thanks to David. I am holding on for LTE and will make my choice then.

From what i have heard, once you go apple, you never go back.

    I can see why.

    Everyone loves their iPhone.

Arg, the agony of conceded to crapple. But David knows best.
