myTouch 4G Slide Appears In The Wild, No Mr. Blurrycam In Sight!

We at TmoNews want to wish all the Fathers out there a very happy Father’s day with some crystal clear myTouch 4G Slide in the wild shots. While Mr. Blurrycam has already found this device hanging around town the shots we just received show off the phone in significantly better clarity giving you a much clearer idea of what the phone will look like. Our ninja was definite on the phone running Gingerbread with an HTC Sense UI “much like the Sensation but with some specific myTouch features.” We were told the keyboard is amazing and the phone is surprisingly fast. There was the necessary comparison to the G2 keyboard and it was said to be the same in terms of feel. The only (possible) drawback we were told is that the phone weighs in a little bit more than the G2 or so it feels in the hand. That may or may not be a concern to some but the benefits of the myTouch 4G Slide far outweigh any extra weight.

So have a good look at the myTouch 4G Slide in some great pictures as we remember the “Doubleshot” codename and bid it farewell. Happy Father’s Day to all the Father’s and future Father’s out there!

My myTouch 3g Slide is officially super-obsolete.

    • Enzo

Damm you want to get rid of the G2x. I got it and its amazing. The tegra handels anything in its way and the THD games look amazing. It also has a overlay of mytouch. Trust me if you want an upgrade that bad wait to the Samsung G || comes to tmobile.    DONT abondend a phone that quickly,,, wait some time…..

    • Anonymous

Bet you don’t even have a G2X if you want to replace it with this.

    • Yancy

Doubt you even have the G2x if you want to abandon it.

If I get a new android phone, this will be it. Glad I did not splurge on the Sensation. I miss keyboard buttons

They should’ve made the MyTouch logo at the top smaller & increased screen size, IMO. But still looks like another great HTC phone :)

    • http://twitter.com/AndroidCory Cory

100% agree with you on that.  They could have added a little more screen for what is there…but like you said, it does look like another great htc phone!

Meh. This whole MyTouch thing has run it’s course, IMO. that said, I’m sure this will sell well, given the demographic that TMO caters to.

    • howardtheduck

Um how has it run its course ???  and what demographic does tmo cater to…
People come in ALL the time asking about the mytouch 4G and NOT the g2x or anything else. I love my g2x and all but still …. Mytouch has done well as far as being a mass market phone. So hell keep em coming and keep em coming into the store so I can make my bank

    • Anonymous

How? Then has the Verizon Droid line run its course? Or Sprints Evo line?

Every carrier has to have something specific to them. At&t had the iPhone, until recently. Did the iPhone line ever run its course? No.

      • trife

See my comment above.  We’re about to be acquired by AT&T and this is our flagship line.  ‘Nuff said.

And please don’t ever compare the MyTouch line to the iPhone.  That’s just plain silly right there.

What’s the demographic T-mobile caters to? People that want a value service?

      • trife

Well, the MyTouch line has been synonymous with the teen market, in my opinion.  All of the phones thus far (including this one) have aesthetically looked cheap and plasticky.  Again, this is my opinion.  And in my opinion, the line is tired, used up and hasn’t done much to move TMO ahead in the carrier wars.  I mean, we ARE looking at TMO USA being acquired by AT&T, are we not?  And THIS is our flagship line?

Speaks volumes to me.  I don’t know many grown adults who own any of the MyTouch line, to be honest.

        • http://www.facebook.com/DeOunte De’Ounte Davis

good looking phone but still meh, I can’t upgrade till october, and by then I think I’ll wait to see when the next Nexus phone will release

  • cirrob

I will get this for my wife but I have adapted to the much faster on-screen typing then a physical keyboard can offer. She just can’t wrap uer head around it though.

    • Anonymous

I guess on-screen are OK if you have small-pointed fingers…but, since there’s nothing to feel in a virtual keyboard, I frequently mis-hit keys — which I never do on the physical keyboard of my TP2.
If virtual/on-screen keyboards are fundamentally better — faster — than physical keyboards (faster while retaining accuracy), why don’t laptops or even netbooks ditch physical keyboards? Is it because virtual keyboards are better for thumb-typing and physical keyboards better for real (touch) typing? Doesn’t seem likely…

      • Anonymous

The Sensation has a lot enough room for error-free typing once swype is installed. I haven’t touched the Sense kb since.

Was told yesterday by a Rep. that its coming mid July. Getting pretty close. Why don’t we have an exact date yet though?

  • http://twitter.com/flaw ♥ Eleni

It looks nice, but it would’ve been nice if they’d ditched the trackpad and made the buttons capacitive.  After using capacitive buttons for so long I can’t get used to physical ones anymore.

Can u say sexy!!! Yes I wish the the screen was a 4 inch, but this sexy! all the power of the sensation with the keyboard of the g2!!! My MT4G is still very good but I want this Phone!

  • Flores1994

What don’t you like about the G2?

      • Craibailey

I guess because I have a mytouch 4G and playing with both phone the G2 feels better in hand and the speed seems faster on my G2. And last but not least everything is customize for Google.

Well, this will have more than twice the processing power of the G2: Dual-core and each core running at a faster clock-speed.

      • Anonymous

I love my g2 but if this really come with everything they say and the battery is a better then yeah im going to buy it.

    • Craibailey

Wow! Getting rid of the G2 for the mytouch slide 4G.

    • SoloArtyz

It’s going to take a lot more phone than this for me to say bye to my G2!  Now if you add a keyboard to that beautiful looking Sensation I would trade up in a heartbeat!  I’m even considering doing without the keyboard because the Sensation is just that good but I have faith that HTC has something else up under their sleeve so I’m going to wait it out lol!

  • Kevincgroen

i’ve had the mytouch since it came out. i have used the genius button once. never touched it since. get rid of it.

I have the MTS3G and I’m getting a bit annoyed with it.  No internal memory, it slows down on me a lot, and as many other people stated the Genius Button?  It should be called the Stupid Wasting Memory and Speed Button (SWMSB for short of course).

I really wish they used the TouchPro2 keyboard for this MyTouch4G Slide (i.e. the dedicated number pad).  Also, I don’t know the screen is this small.  There seems to be a good inch of black space with the wrods MYTOUCH at the top, they could have made that half an inch and made the screen a little bigger.

But I’ll just have to wait and see how this bad boy performs with video reviews.  I can only pray to the Most High that HTC/Google comes out with another super high end Android device WITH a keyboard (hey I know they’re a thing of the past but I need my keyboard).

Oh and NO to the AT&T and T-Mobile merger…

and YES to all the Fathers out there.  Happy Fathers Day.

Good phone I ain’t gonna lie.. but I’m on at&t. I wanna switch company because at&t is super expensive. I got an infuse 4G and I think its ridiculous that I’m paying 130 for 1 phone! I dont even have unlimited internet! That’s my only complaint believe it or not I never really had bad at&t service over here in los Angeles at&t is not as bad as a lot of people say it is.. I admit when I had an at&t iphone 4 I would be dropping calls like crazy so I switched to the infuse 4G and no more dropped calls at all also another thing I noticed was I now get much better reception inside buildings, for some weird reason the iphone always had problems maintaining a decent signal inside a lot of buildings now with the infuse in those same buildings I have full bars . But yea like I said the only problem is that it’s expensive. So do u guys think I should switch to T-Mobile? Does anyone know how it works in La? I’m not here to defend at&t and say its better than T-Mobile. I would switch in a heartbeat to T-Mobile as long as they get good reception in La and I get a better plan and get a better internet plan cuz on at&t I have 2 gb of internet usage which suckz. So yea can anyone help me??

    • Briannahun55

Well honestly if your looking for better reception i recommend u stay with at&t. I also live in La zip code 90022 I’m pretty sure u know were that is. That’s in the heart of La. And I had T-Mobile several phones bb bold 9700, my touch 4g and a crappy flip phone. And yes T-Mobile reception is great outside but in many buildings that are very closed in u get no service while att at least has a decent 2 bars of service I know because I have at&t right now I have an atrix. And I admit I hate atts data network its crap and slow T-Mobile had a much faster network. But its voice network is much better than T-Mobile s. I now have reception in many places like elevators and underground parking lots and also I may not get 3G in those places sometimes not even edge in one parking lot I go to a lot I only get att gprs and it works fine to make phone calls that’s all I care about i only care about reception . In that parking lot I only get att gprs wit T-Mobile I always had no service. So yea I prefer att it may be more expensive and all but u get much better reception. So yea but that’s just me if u want to switch go ahead nobody is stopping u. But most likely ur gonna regret it. Ur gonna miss having signal inside buildings. Also I’m telling u this because I also live in La I been all over La east La, downtown La, Montebello, pico rivera etc .. u name it I been there and att always works better than T-Mobile ..

      • Alexa21

@happyjoyjoy and briannahun thanks both of u I guess I will be staying with at&t because I like having signal inside buildings lol its a good feeling. The only problem like I said is pricing. Not atts network cuz like I also said att works good over here in La. So yea thanks :)

        • SoloArtyz

I have two unlimited lines with internet for the price that you pay for one.  I am in the Inland Empire and I never get any dropped calls but when I go to L.A. my service gets even better.  In the event that I do find myself in a area where I dont get service and I try to use someone elses phone who has a different service, they usually dont have service either (with the exception of Verizon I hate to say).  I have a G2 and the internet is amazingly fast in some areas!

        • Hunter

That must have been a few years ago because I work all over LA and get perfect service. Since T-Mobile has upgraded their network things have been spectacular.

      • http://www.facebook.com/SKRILLDILLY Skrill- Dilly

Dude..That’s because u had a BB with Edge….Now you have an Atrix..Those are 2 different types of devices and there is NO WAY you could compare the 2 based on Network when they are clearly from 2 different era’s and 2 different Manufactures. Would be nice if u had an inkling of a point.

        • Jon E.

BB 9700 isn’t an edge-only (2G) device…what are you talking about here? Of course it was capable of 3G. So while yes, Brianna is comparing two different manufacturers, she’s not comparing two different era’s at all (BB 9700 was released when, last year? lol), and also not comparing 2G to 3G. Sorry to say, but she had at least an inkling of a point.

        • Britneyj24

Wtf are u on??? Da bb bold 9700 is a 3G device. Duhhh. Why wud u say its a 2g only device? ? O let me guess?? U never had one?

    • happyjoyjoy

Totally agree with Brian.  I had T-Mobile for about 4 or 5 years and it was terrible.  Couldn’t even get a signal in my own house (or my mother’s house).  I live in the North of LA county, though.  When I got ATT the signal was better.  Not by much, but at least I could make and receive calls in my own house.  The thing I really missed about T-Mobile is making UMA calls, though.  That was pretty awesome and helped with the fact that I couldn’t make calls on the T-Mobile network.

  • DJ2012

My contract just got up for my old myTouch 3G and was waiting for a sexy phone like this to come out.. Can’t wait! ;)
What were the camera specs? And I agree with a lot of you they wasted too much space with the myTouch logo and could have made the screen bigger.

    • DJ2012

Jk lol I just noticed it was 8.0 megapixels on the picture. Duh haha

  • Rob

Soooo nice lookin.. but if Tmo and AT&T merge, I’m jumpin ship to Verizon…

I’m just waiting on the specs for this phone. I don’t want it to be the same thong as the MyTouch 4G but with a slide. I def hope it has a better battery than the ordinal also. All in all it looks nice. I’m thinking of getting the Sensation though, regardless.

My fiancee is letting me use her upgrade, so I have to use it wisely.. Fyi/tmi she’s content with her cliq, and would’nt even consider upgrading to the cliq 2 lol.. Never the less bring on the video reviews..

Props to David and co for dropping this story, as sundays are usually slow news days.. @Pimpstrong thanks for the link.. I’m working on it..lol

  • Anonymous

I’m surprised by the comments comparing this phone to the mt4g or to the Sensation or G2X.  I still think I need (or at least prefer) a physical keyboard, but if I didn’t need/want a physical kb I sure wouldn’t be considering this phone, given that it’s thicker, heavier, etc. than other recent/available keyboardless designs. It’s really not superior to the Sensation or G2X in any way — except the presence of the keyboard.  On the other hand, the internals (the dual-core processor) make it superior to the previous T-Mo keyboard-phone, the G2.
I’ll have to wait until I can handle this phone in a store/in-person.  Too bad that the keyboard isn’t as good as my TP2…but it’s guts are (and OS) are SO much superior to my TP2 that I can probably overlook the inferior keyboard. We’ll see….

    • A Person

In a previous article, they stated how the my4g slide is similar to the sensation and worked just as fast, also it being a smaller screen why wouldn’t it be not superior but at least comparable to the sensation. A lot of people see this as a kid phone because of the keyboard and fail to realize that this is a high end smartphone.

      • Anonymous

I agree that it’s a high-end smartphone.  I just think that, if I didn’t need/want a hw-kb, the Sensation would be preferable because it’s thinner and lighter and has a bigger screen with higher resolution…and still has that HTC-goodness.
My main point is just surprise that people who don’t necessarily need/want a keyboard would consider a phone that’s bulkier/heavier without any significant counter-balancing performance advantage — EXCEPT the keyboard.

  • Cameron W3st

This phone is uglier than I had hoped for…They should have gone with the same design as the MyTouch slide…and just beefed everything up…Asymmetrical designs are garbage.

  • MT3G slide

i see this being offered before school start again for the kids, so July or August sounds about right

the screen looks soo small, am i the only one that would like a 4.3″ slider?

    • Anonymous

It would be nice if they made more-efficient use of the acreage…maybe fit in a 4″ screen without making it bigger…or this-size screen with a smaller footprint.
