This smacks of desperation, trying to stem the loss of customers. The 400k+ contracts they lost this last year have to be offset somehow, so they’ll do almost anything to attract people from the other camps (who may not know about the impending buyout)

    • BigMixxx

And it’s about DAMN time. Other carriers do run promotions similar to this. Also if you talk with a carrier in the store, they offer same level discounts, etc, etc, etc. I don’t think this is a bad thing, works perfect.

I’m going to agree. T-Mo has been BRINGING IT lately, and I don’t think it’s just due to the losses posted last week. Yes, they have some ground to make up for showing up late to the 3G party, but come on. The announcements they’ve been delivering since Q1 are just the type of marketing they need (since Carly isn’t really bringing them in). I applaud them for these last ditch efforts in light of the approaching Death Star.

        • BigMixxx

Yes, T mobile has REALLY been bringing it. Ok, T lost customers. I kinda see a direction with T mobile; they are going niche market, capitalize on smart phone access. Remember data is where you can get the MOST revenue as a mobile phone provider. It almost the pattern of apple. These larger mobile phone providers are following leads T mobile has really established <– wild statement…but check out the history behind unlimited everything, android, low cost text messaging, data plans (my unlimited is still 25 dollars)

Pretty sure Sprint was doing this a few months ago as well…

    • Nick

yeah it probably is desparate but desparate times call for desparate measures, right?

    • Jay

So when verizon does it for there fios service , and direct tv gives out the same to switch , there desperate 2? Its just good business.

    • CactusCat

Well now Mr. Desperation. Think about this. If you’re so sure that the ATT buyout deal is going through, then wouldn’t it make sense for all AT&T users to switch to Tmobile, get the $125 plus better phones, better service and faster network, then……… when the 100% guaranteed buyout happens, the ATT users get back where they were before, with an extra $125 in their pocket + the extra money they saved while they were with Tmo. Brilliant!!!

Now I know why they are firing hundreds of reps for trumped up reasons. They needed to stockpile cash so they can try to lure customers that will no longer get decent support.

  • Deonleeone

How bout ” thank you fornbeinh with T-Mobile for 8 years, here is a $125 gift card before we sell you as slave to att ”

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ASLY6MKMKHP2HSETXPT73RZNPA infantry11b

How about the fact that you’ve saved a minimum of $1920 in 8 years with T-Mobile as a comparison to Verizon or AT&T, and a minimum of half as much vs sprint. :-) Wanting T-Mobile to give and give and give is what broke the profitability margin for the company and got DT looking at getting rid of them.

      • Mopar6464

It’s not just the give, give, give that broke T-Mobile.

It’s the lack of Full 3G Coverage while getting Edge data speed most of the times, and paying 3G pricing.

And not to mention the call quality inside building blows.

only applies to hillbillies, and who cares about them anyway. get out the country and move to the big city. heck, you can see crackheads, drive-byes, and your occasional prostitute serving a john. along with 4G hspa+, i’m in bliss. :-)

        • http://twitter.com/corys00 Steve Cory

Hillbillies? I live smack dab in the middle of Orlando, freaking Mickey Mouse, FL and have to use UMA in my apartment to get signal.

        • Mopar6464

Listen up crackhead , i am in a major city and travel the major cities too.
Glad your one of the few who gets HSPA+ but it’s very limited and will be history when AT&T takes over.

        • Davidmiddljr

Wow no one ever heard of sarcasm? Well since you idiots must be hillbillys cause your sooo offended, let me tell you this. Your full of crap if you say you travel to every major city and don’t get hspa+. I travel to every major city and I do, and I also have to drive in between those cities to surrounding areas. Maybe your phone is crap, or maybe your an idiot, or maybe both .don’t know, don’t care . If I do have to get ATT then fine , in to LTE I go. Only gonna be sprint, Verizon, or ATT left , and they all suck and have higher rates than T-Mobile. So I’m gonna lock in my t-mobile plan , move it to ATT and not look back. And if I need a new phone, ill just buy it straight out, no changes to my plan. Also if they force me to upgrade, who cares? No difference between the carriers. Sooo your point

  • MrMr

Cool. Hopefully this is retroactive and applies to purchases through cellhub.com. I just bought a G2X and switched from Verizon via Cellhub.com.

your going to need that money plus sum to leave when the buy out goes thru “SMDH”

im digging the louisiana map myself!

    • Patricjames

      Yep yep

  • Slickz

not enough money to cover early termination fee?

    • Carmen Diva

etf is only 200 bucks i believe

so u eat 75 bucks in the end

  • Anonymous

After the ATT deal, I don’t understand why they keep doing promotions.

I have postponed my HD2 upgrade just because I don’t want to buy a Phone that won’t work in 1 year(3g). Actually I already bought a cover for my HD2 to help it last 1 year more.

    • Matlock

you sir need to read! If this deal does go through, AT&T will not just turn off the T-Mobile 3G/4G network, If they were to do that they would lose way too many customers. It will take time for them to convert the T-mo towers to their planned and proposed LTE network. Its going to take a while for that to happen. So go ahead and buy any phone you want from T-Mo! I personally have my eyes on the Sensation right now.

    • Jayq330

Because the more contracts they collect for that day that art takes over the more money they get. $3200 per extra. They already paid for the ones that they had already, the new contracts is just more money wich is why they’re going crazy trying to get contracts & are canceling the pre
Paid lines. I think they decided to keep pre paid though.

  • Anonymous

Anyone else find it annoying that you can’t get these deals “in-store” and only online?

  • Anonymous

Get rid of ATT in your future, and T Mobile will gain customers.

With ATT in the picture… it will lose customers at a very very worrisome rate.

  • anonymous

Does this promotion apply only if I buy from tmobile.com? What if I buy one from Amazon Wireless?

    • Olurumsana02

Any answer to this? Amazon wireless has the G2X for 79.99 right now and if I can still get the 125 debit card from T-Mobile then I would do this ASAP!

  • Davidmiddljr

” i am in a major city and travel the major cities too.” your words. and i actually stay in a suburb of a major city. takes me an hour to get downtown with light traffic. still get hspa+, sorry but Ive never experienced the issues you have. i have 2 MT4G’s and have never seen edge until i was driving from vegas to california (which is expected), and rarely see 3G. guess im special. but this convo will not be even thought about in a few years anyway. att-mobile is our best bet at this moment.

Its a rip off of sprints switch to us & get 125$ campaign! But your really just being for att, as I said before t-mobile gets $3200 for each contract from att. So all they’re doing its giving you 125$ cut out of the deal… Give me $1000 out of the 3200$ then we’re talking, I know that’ll never happen but art least you now know the real deal.

Ive been fighting with T-Mobile for this rebate for 2 months… They have NEVER honored it. Im actually cancelling my line because of it.

    • Lukyfella

Dude me too, they haven’t honored it at all, and they owe me around 431 dollars in all at this point, not to mention the 15% off they’ve never given me
