Motorola Defy Gingerbread ROM Leaks?

The Motorola Defy is looking more and more likely for a Gingerbread arrival  but if this official ROM leak from the folks at XDA is any indication. Those who have loaded the ROM on their own devices report some bugs relating to the camera but you do get a revamped Motorola Blur so you have that going for you.

when will g2x update come. Also will the gingerbread update improve quadrant standard (now 2400 on g2x) because its 3200 on samsung gs2 thx

    • whosaidwhat

They have two different chips though. I don’t know if the g2x will get 3200 out the box with gingerbread. You might have to OC it to get something closer to 3200. I get 2300 on my G2 but I had to OC it after root was achieved.

How do we DEFY users get it I want my phone to be at the top YA KNOW

  • Aerofanbig

I really do hate Motorola, but I do love my DEFY lol only got it because I found it for a steal NIB on craigslist, but so far so good! However its funny that this thing might get Gingerbread, right after it got Froyo, which was only what, like 4-5 months after it was even released? I mean, HTC and Samsung seem to take almost a year to do updates and I might be seeing my 2nd update within 2 months lol

You mean you bought it stolen.  lol JK

      • Aerofanbig

haha maybe!! It was the same weekend that they were free with a new 2 yr. I always notice when free phone deals are happening within a day or two there are a LOT of NIB phones for sale. Call retentions, bitch about the free phone, upgrade, keep your old phone > profit!

        • Guest

People like you that made it to where retention doesn’t have any additional discounts on phones anymore. The most they have is making the mail in rebate an instant rebate. No more over-rides and no more free phones. They can’t even match whats on the tmo website when it has promotions for free phones like they used to be able to do.

        • Aerofanbig

People like me? What, because I bought my phone from someone else instead of Tmobile? LoL, yea, I’m the root of all evil buddy. I don’t want to extend my contract for any currently available phones, and my G1 was taking a sh*t, so what should I have done? Use up my discount for a phone I didn’t want and be stuck with it? Buy an overpriced phone I also didn’t want (which would still have no effect on anything you are claiming) or hey, look online and buy a phone someone else had but didn’t want.

        • Aerofanbig

Also, if you notice, I DID NOT SAY I was the one who did that, I was SPECULATING on where my phone may have came from. Someone mentioned it was stolen, I offered another possibility. Reading comprehension.

        • Aerofanbig

And BTW, in my near 10 years with Voice Stream/Tmo, I have NEVER called and asked for retentions to bitch about something fake to get free stuff. When I wanted something, I paid for it, when I called with complaints they were legit and I only wanted my issue solved, NOT to be compensated

    • Respawn

Personally, I think phone manufacturers should develop 2 or 3 phones per year per carrier instead of just rehashing the same crap with a different name. That way, updates can be released for just those phones.

  • whosaidwhat

Hmm…this one came out of nowhere. I guess Google is really pushing the OEM’s to do something about the updates.

  • David

TMO to buy back phones!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You all missed this. Type in a new G2 and get 60$ an old BB Bold 120$

Oh yeah, they know the value of the garbage they have been selling us.

It’s been on the front page the whole time, I assure you.

  • michael

Glad to see the carriers and oems stepping up..
For example we found the Epic’s Gingerbread in testing after it took MANY months to get froyo, and now it almost has gbread. Same with Defy.

So, is that google update deal for new phones after that or current phones? :D

  • http://twitter.com/xxmonkey92 Tulio Mesa

so my question is, will an official version come out?

  • person

IF THIS IS GETTING UPDATED! THEN MY CLIQ 2 BETTER GET UPDATED!!!!!!!

The only way Motorola could “revamp” Blur would be to take all Blur devices, source code, and the engineers, managers, and support staff behind it and bury it under 100 ft of mud at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.
