The iPhone would be a priceless, boring piece of hardware without the App Store.

        • http://tmonews.com David

Android would be a boring, slab of hardware without the Android Market. Windows Phone 7 would be a beautiful piece of equipment without the beauty of the Metro UI. Etc etc etc.

        • http://ashn.myopenid.com/ Ash

Not as much, as they do more without installing any appz.
ie. Android, Winmo wifi router, Not so much for iPhone or WP7.

    • Shawn Fitzpatrick

“Includes 2 GB per month of full speed data” That doesn’t sound like unlimited.

  • Kitpogi

2GB throttle per month? Lame, sounding more like AT&T nowadays ….

    • http://ashn.myopenid.com/ Ash

ATT charges you after 2GB, T-mo slows you down after 2GB,
      Pick your poison.

Tmobile trying to protect the integrity of the network by capping highspeed data at 2gb………without “mugging” customers with overage charges…..might i add, tmo doesnt charge a 4g tax like sprint does.

    • zman

But they do make you change a grandfather planned going from 3g to 4g

  • John

ok.. I know it says unimited data but capped at 2GB. The other internet is capped 5GB. My question is, arent we all getting f*cked over because I DON’T SEE A “5GB CAP” on my rate plan. Cant they all throttle the speeds at 2GB without letting us know? Please answer. Thanks!

Throttle and Cap are two different things.

  • http://twitter.com/DogoJosho Josh Garrett

Yea its a 2GB Throttle cap, but atleast they dont charge overages or more for 4G like every other carrier does.

This is the stuff t mobile should have been doing a year back! I absolutely love the commercial.
My sister just paid her att bill..with rollover…Bb plan, data, etc. A bajillion dollars….t mobile must have been talking to her, as that is what she calls it…

  • Anthonydecaro

When do you think tmobile will lower the 79?

In Puerto Rico unlited Tmo plans are 64 bucks

    • Jay

considering the same stuff with taxes is about 130 on att and verizon. Why would they

  • Joff

    I love Carly’s V-Shaped Box

  • FTKnoxTMO

So you got that blazing fast, dual-core, 4G HSPA+ phone, off contract and now you have a plan that let’s you surf the web for how many day’s before you are “Throttled back to EDGE” speeds? Whoa, day’s I said, ment hours. Might as well keep the RAZR and browse WAP sites for the rest of your month.

    • J-Hop2o6

Actually, GPRS/Dial-up speeds after cap. =(

    • AT&T-Mobile Guy 0167

If you need the extra high-speed coverage, it is availible, just for more $$$. T-mobile is aiming this at a different market. As an employee, I see that the strong majority of customers use less than 2gigs a month. And many heavy users are still short of hitting 5gigs. Of course some peope will need more, but look at what happened to AT&T. Data Overload caused huge network issues. I agree that this plan is lame for people who surf the web and stream video and music all day, but for the Ton of Blackberry users who can’t get their email and BBM on the $50 Unlimited prepaid service… this is a good alternative. And there are Tons off BB and BBM users out there, and their will be until phone makers start investing in batteries that last a whole day in touch screen phones.

  • Frigadroid

Tmobile sidekick 4g is getting good exposure court side during this La NO game I’m watching now on TNT. Go tmo!

How is $80 a month a good deal? 2gb of data unlimited text/talk?
Verizon is $90 a month for 5gb/unlimited text
Sprint $80 a month unlimited everything
    ATT $105 a month 400min, 4gb data, unlimited text.

T-mo has gotten up there with the others in price. Now its just about who has the most data and best phones. It seems like Sprint

    • http://profiles.google.com/aantoine87 akil antoine

dude you are so wrong this post is about unlimited everything so stop trying to make things seem worse than they are

      unlimited everything
      verizon = $120
sprint = $80 + $10 for 4G (but some people do still call businesses and home phones $100+$10 for 4G)
AT&T = $95+ whatever the price of unlimited text is (2gb cap overages cost $15 per 200mb)
      t-mobile $80 (2gb cap)

      • Anonymous

actually sprint is 70 + 10 for premium data, $80.
and the ATT data is 4gb for $45
Those people who are still calling businesses and home phones are not the majority.
All people want is lots of data, text and the best phones.
Thats not t-mo anymore. With a 2gb cap, they are worse than the others

        • http://profiles.google.com/aantoine87 akil antoine

yea sorry u are right about the sprint price
and yes at&t has 4gb data ass well but thats an additional $20
that brings the price up to like $125 assuming that unlimited text cost
only $10 on at&t, and every one is insulting this plan when they never said they no longer offer the old plans

        • Anonymous

Actually, the only thing wrong in this thread is your OP reply chewing out the OP saying “dude you are so wrong” and “stop trying to make things worse than they are.”

If you are going to deride someone you should be right on YOUR facts. You were wrong on three parts of your retort to him and on four parts if you include your retort to his saying “how is this a good deal” and that T-Mobile has gotten up there in price the same as the others.”

Fact is, he was right. This is not that good a deal, especially with the 2GB cap. Compared apples to apples, oranges to oranges, T-Mobile’s price is close enough to the others that this is not going to attract customers to T-Mobile nor prevent anyone from switching from T-Mobile to another carrier. In other words, this pricing is not so low (or such a good deal) that someone will say “Gee, I’m getting such a good deal with T-Mobile I’m not switching.”

Lastly, things are more as he says they are than what you say.

        • http://profiles.google.com/aantoine87 akil antoine

i dont see how i went to all of the carriers websites to check out the pricing before my post (besides for sprint) so i do not see where i am wrong, apples to apples would be comparing unlimited plan to one another not a t-mobile unlimited plan to a Verizon unlimited plan not including data in which verizon still cost more. so again he was wrong along with you

      • Elfuerte

That 2 g cap is only for 4G After that it goes down to 2G, with no hidden catch like everyone else… So man do the math…

        • Prod1702

2gb is enough for 75% of the people out there. I have ppl come in to my T-Mobile store every day that only use about 500mb to 1gb of data. This place is for them. If you want the 5gb you pay more. This is still cheaper then what Verzion and ATT has. T-Mobile is going for a bigger group of people then the 25% that use more then 2gb. If you were a company who would you target for money the larger group or the smaller group.

    • http://twitter.com/Tito_1 Felipe Zamora

What you all don’t get is its still unlimited, everyone is making the same argument from before when people where saying about the 5gb soft cap. Its a soft cap. No overages, nothing. You still get all you can eat, but after the 2nd plate they make you slow down lol. Although I use around 4gb+ data on my current 5gb soft cap, I am perfectly fine with the 2gb soft cap. just gotta stop downloading those CM ROMs you know ;).

  • Moneyman

I don’t understand why people argue about opinions. The plan isn’t suppose to suit everyone, just like a phone will not suit everyone. Some people only use the data for emails, but uses many minutes calling landlines, overseas and cell phones. That’s an example of someone who benefits. Even if the plan doesn’t benefit you, doesn’t mean it isn’t a good deal for someone else.

    • Big Rod02

THANK YOU, Moneyman. Some people waste so much energy complaining on the wrong things. If the plan doesn’t fit your lifestyle then keep it moving; keep ypur exisiting plan or choose something else. What’s the big deal..

I just switched from one plan to another. I had an Even More+ plan where I had unlimited everything but only 500 anytime minute. Now I have another Even More + plan where EVERYTHING is unlimited. Granted my data gets throttled at 2GB, but I use an average of 275MB per month so I’ll never risk getting throttled.

I switched plans because having the unlimited minutes was more important to me. I won’t have to rely on Google Voice via Gmail as much now. I didn’t even complain on my old plan because it’s what I chose and even then, I was very happy and satisfied with T-Mobile. I’m happier now – at least until he merger, and then we’ll see what happens from there.

      • Big_rod01

OH! And my old plan was $59.99 per month and the new plan is the same price. I’m definitely satisfied.

  • Joff

I bet Carly has no panties on this commercial and is sporting a landing strip.

  • Truth

The 2GB Throttle/Cap/Reduced speeds means when they are fully acquired by AT&T people wont remember the 5GB they once had. You’ll be able to keep your plan until you upgrade or want a new phone then pay more to still have the 2GB,. Thus forgetting 5GB EVER EXISTED.

There’s really nothing wrong with these commercials, but there’s a reason why the “droid does” campaign was so successful…I think that’s what T-Mobile needs to start thinking about in their marketing strategy. Here’s what I think http://wp.me/p1wchx-21

  • Xyl

Okay, maybe you guys can clarify something for me.

Sometime about 18 months back, I got my unlimited everything which was $99, taxed to $120, this was the first time any of the mobile providers offered unlimited talk+text+web. My first few months on android, went up to a little over 1GB.

A few months back, I did a little more research. On my unlimited everything plan, they’d supposedly softcap at 5GB, text you an alert, then throttle at 10GB. I tested this out, tethered, torrented, and yeah, this was true.

These days (recent months after ATT’s announcement/acquisition, TMo’s commercials specify 2GBs. So, 2 is a constant. That’s not unlimited at all! Can someone explain the new policy to me? I havn’t changed my plan.

    • http://twitter.com/Tito_1 Felipe Zamora

2gb softcap, throttling after the rest.
