T-Mobile To Introduce Lower Priced Unlimited Plan?

We’ve just received word through our ninja grapevine that T-Mobile is set to introduce two revamped individual unlimited plans for both Even More and Even More Plus customers. Accordingly, T-Mobile will lower the price of the Even More individual unlimited plan to $79.99 (from $99.99) and for Even More Plus customers, that price would be further reduced to $69.99. While Even More Plus is currently on the back burner and you almost have to know to ask for it, no word on whether or not this signals a return to Even More Plus offerings online. We’re told this plan will drop February 23rd coinciding with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. No word on changes to any other T-Mobile rate plan offerings.

they want to compete with simple mobile

I was thinking of dropping Tmobile for simple mobile since it’s basically the same service but for cheaper but I wanted to wait until I got my new phone.(Optimus 2x)

      • http://ashn.myopenid.com/ Ash

I read that simple mobile will cut you off when you reach 1GB of data.

        • TmoGuyM

Simple Mobile also doesn’t use T-mobile’s 4G HSPA+, and as Tmo increases speed soon, Simple misses that too.

        • Quailallstar

Are you people blind? No Tmobile 4g on SimpleMobile? Then what is this? http://www.mysimplemobile.com/4G-Speeds.aspx

Also, they don’t cap data. I’ve called SimpleMobile about this and they are unlimited. I stated that I had heard about this 1gb cap and they assured me it is false and nowhere in their policy. What they DONT allow is data tethering… So if you are caught tethering they throttle your speed ;)

        • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

          It’s a troll. I wouldn’t even reply to it

        • http://squarecat.com Scott B

The problem is that they DON’T specify the point at which they throttle, instead using wording (“disproportionate”?) that is entirely open to interpretation. Their “Protective Measures” T&Cs are otherwise identical T-Mobile’s.

This was exactly the problem prior to carriers publishing defined cap/throttle amounts.

After the bandwidth limits were published, the issue then became that they seemed set impractically low so as to target “heavy” users for overages. Thus financially slapping the hand of those who MAY be using their data plan in ways that are explicitly forbidden by the T&Cs, e.g., tethering, broadcasting, etc.

        • http://squarecat.com Scott B

That said, I’m comfortable with T-mobile’s 5GB (on EM+) soft cap. I routinely top just over a gig per billing cycle and have peaked a couple times at around 2.5GB.

That’s not true. If you check their website they have Tmobiles 4G phones listed and they are to now offering 4G speeds.

Simple mobile will cut your service after you reach 100MB…. one tenth of 1GB

STAY AWAY FROM SIMPLE MOBILE if you use data.

Blatant lie, I have simple mobile and they DONT cut you off after 100mb, in fact just checked my account and i’m currently at 700mb and still have HSPA+ service

Nice! Great deals keep on getting better!!! $80 for unlimited everything to go with a discounted phone is a GREAT deal…Must mean the family plans are next to get slashed (doesn’t make sense for two people to pay more on the family plan versus two individual lines)

Honestly, though, why would anyone go with EM+ unlimited plan aside from getting the benefit of the EIP? might as well just do the $53/month prepaid……

The EM+ is still a great option for smartphone users who frequently change devices, and want the unlimited data plan that it offers. I believe the pre-pay plan only allows up to 2gb data, so the EM+ 500 min unl text unl data for 59.99 is still very competitive in that regard.

      • Mike

No the $50 prepaid plan only comes with 100MB of data. The $70 unlimited prepaid plan comes with 2GB of data.

Not big too you but T-mobile doesn’t offer the Loyalty plan to new customers anymore. Ya might want to call in to loyalty and say WTF as your loyalty plan is now 5 bucks more than a new customers plan. I’m just sayin..

Oh and this is for @David, love the look of the new Tmonews.com. Just please, please, please dont make it look like PhoneDogs site. I was a dedicated follower since 2007 of there site when Noah ran it, I cant even look at that site anymore. If Phonedog Aaron is listening, please take off all those banners and ads ASAP! I mean a few here and there is okay, but man you bombard us with ugly ads and the site looks like a giant newspaper add with all the columns. This would explain the 5 or less replies to all of your reviews and stories. Maybe make it look like Tmonews, or higher a graphic designer. I really really wanna get back into your stories and news but people cant stand the pop ups and ads. Fewer ads please = more readers and comments on your blog. That is all, keep up the good work David!

    • Really?

      Nothing “auto adjusts” in life.

  • Jutecat

this still sucks. Why can’t they make the 750 min plan lower, or make lower than 750 mins. I am on a family plan and we barely hit 200 minutes a month combined!

  • DavidOhio

I think if they are doing away with flex pay then they need to offer unlimited data on pre paid as an option for like $10 more.

    • nenes78

prepay has 2gb data/unlm talk&text for $70 a month, more than enough data for 90% of users

  • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

If it does included “Unlimited talk + text + web” like people are saying, I will keep T-Mobile after June. Because I was gonna switch to Simple Mobile because even at it’s cheapest T-Mobile was too much for my taste after the data plan & taxes were done.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IWKYZE22LHQPCHPZTJIV4VLKM4 Frank

I switched to SimpleMobile at the end of my contract and the service is identical. The only drawback for me is no call forwarding (so you can’t use Google Voice as your voice mail) and no Call Conferencing. Otherwise, I haven’t found a problem.

      • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

So by no call conferencing, that means I can speak to multiple people at once?

You can get the same exact thing from SimpleMobile (uses T-Mobile’s 3g/4G network) for $60.00 a month unlimited EVERYTHING! :) I might go this route when my Tmo contract is up…

      Samehere

    • TmoGuyM

SimpleMobile has great prices, but doesn’t use T-mobile 4G, T-mobile restricts this due to bandwith. Also, If you port out your number to Simple Mobile, you can’t port it back to T-mobile, because T-mobile reads it as an existing T-mobile number.
Lots of Simple Mobile customers Complain about that when they come back.

      • Quailallstar

How can you say they don’t use Tmos 4G network when they clearly advertise 4G it on their site? Do you work for Tmobile or something? My mom is using her phone on SimpleMobile with 4G speeds day and night and all for $60.00 a month. She came from ATT which blew or still does ;) hehehe

      • Blogo1

I heard about simplemobile from a shop that repaired my iphone. Sounds too good. Support probably not as good, not of the big 4. I pay $60 for everything from tmo, but with 500 minutes talk limit and free tmo to tmo customers which is usually only the wife. Only other friend I know who has TMO in the New York Metro area is a friend thru his company. I go over 500 maybe once a year…

WEAK….they have an even lower unadvertised unlimited rate plan.

As mentioned above, you have to know about it and request it.

That rate plan is only reason I tolerate TMO’s poor tower service. IE dropped calls and such.

That’s really good news. If it is true about the even-more-plus @ 69 I think I might go for it

  • Dan

I get 500 minutes unlimited everything else for for 59.99 on these plans I wonder if that’s going to get lower too

  • Atl

Curious to see how it affects my loyalty family unlimited plan. I currently pay 89.99 for two lines.

    • joe

me 2 89.99 for two lines (voice) + 50 for data (unlmited 2 lines) = 140 a month – hoping that lowers at some point ;)

      • StarMenace

You should be able to lower that data price to $40 (2 x $20 for loyalty Android service). That’s what I pay.

        • LowDrag

I’d love that I think $20 is the most you should pay for unlimited mobile internet. But they said no way even though i was on it they bumped me up when I got my new phone. They said “oh that internet wont work on that phone.” BULSHIT I have used all the “internets” on an iphone, mytouch, hd2 and a galaxy. SOOOOOOOOOOO wtf tmob?

        • StarMenace

You were on the $20 Loyalty Android plan and they bumped up the price? I hope that doesn’t happen to me. Hopefully they don’t audit my account or something and jack up the price.

me 2 it comes to like 175 or something with tax. Its too high for me. I’d be down for $120 plus I’d like to add 2 lines for $ 5 for my folks who dont need the minutes that much.

  • Juju4242

Tmobile , sucks, they offer no discounts to those who have contracts with them. But if you are NOT on contract all these great plans are available.

    SO sick of them

    • Podzilla44

even more is contracted plans..nice try though…

      • brad162

um, they do not require a contract extension unless you’re taking a promo plan, so yes you can change anytime you want

        • not naive

you think that AT&T and Verizon don’t do the same thing regarding requiring contract extensions to get the better pricing….your naive if you think any Cell Carrier will just let you traverse up and down their pricing promos without making some kind of commitment to them……..naive

    • Podzilla44

even more is contracted plans..nice try though…

    • All_Stater07

No, you are wrong.. Any customer can change their plan at anytime.

    • Mainlandking

Juju4242 you should contact the tmobile discount advantage program, if you feel you don’t get a discount. Not everyone gets a discount and not every company offers a discount….

  • AdrianG2

I would be speechless if the unlimited plan drops to 79.99 for EM customers. I currently pay that now for the 1500 minutes. And now that I have my new boo, my minutes begin to run up pretty quickly since they aren’t on TMO. I just refuse to pay 99 for unlimited considering the fact I have EIP’s on my account.

Then you need to get an extra line for them so you guys get free m2m. And talk as long as you want.

      • AdrianG2

I thought about it but I dont want to make too many more changes to my account because if it doesn’t work out, then I’m stuck with a higher bill with no one to use the line. I’d rather go unlimited since I also talk to others that aren’t on TMO. I have been thinking about bumping up to that unlimited for a few weeks now but didn’t want to pay more so I’ll just wait another week and see what happens.

        • H8stylist

          ^this

too many people jump into the extra commitment of adding someone, that relationship falls apart, then the account holder is left with an extra line on the account. on the other hand, that person could be REALLY nice, and port there number out mid-contract and make the account holder liable for an etf.

they need to make number ports require account holder permissions like change of responsibilities do when someone just wants the line under their own name but stay with tmobile.

        • http://www.symbiosis60.com Maciek

That’s why you get Even More Plus…When your relationship is over, then the plan becomes Even More Minus (no contract). I just added my friend who was paying $150 on at&t…with all unlimited (a third line in fact) she’s now paying $55 (the bill gets split into 25% – 25% – 50% <<< 50 being my portion since my employer pays half of that).

        • AdrianG2

I just recently switched from EM+ to EM a couple of months ago so I could get a G2 and move away from the cliq XT. I don’t think I want to go back to no contract because I can’t afford nice phones full price. Not in this jacked up economy. Besides, I don’t mind dedicating myself to TMO for the next two years because I get 4g in and around my home and I have a nice phone with a decent bill. So, I’m actually very satisifed where I am.

        • AdrianG2

Yeah I agree with you when you say people jump into the commitment quick. I wouldn’t even add my sister to my account because I fear something will go wrong then I’ll be stuck. I can’t really afford to pay anymore than what I do so I’ll keep my extra two lines to myself. Lol

  • http://www.google.com/profiles/fugitivealien fugitiveALiEN

Now if they would only either up the throttle speeds or allow us to pay for higher “limits” on our UNLIMITED plans. 5GB is for the birds, makes them angry. =(

    • Guest

I think you just want to chunk birds at a T-Mobile store. Destroy the capitalist pigs and what not…

      And the littles birds…

  • Lance

I currently pay $60/mo for 500 minutes, text and data, both unlimited. Should I pay $10 more for unlimited if I don’t actually use my current minutes? Probably not. This isn’t huge for me, but I see where some people may find it to be a great deal.

It will be the same thing with the other providers, you complain that they dont do anything for you. In fact T-Mobile is more willing to do things to keep their customers happy then any other provider, especially when it comes to AT&T and VZW!

all you have to do is call up when the plan comes out and change it… every company has to attract new customers dumb ass… there not gonna send you a insert in your bill or email saying hey we lowered our prices for you, you as the customer have to request the change, instead of wanting the company to do something for you do something for yourself, when you want a new phone do you call up or go in the store, yes you do.. when the price is to high do you say your gonna cancel to get a better price, most likely….. customers are so lazy!!!

      • Gg

i did call bunch of times but they said i have to cancel current line n get another one to get the free phone or get a new line. but that i couldnt do it with the current number dbag

        • Matlock

So this is what you do, port your number out to a pre paid service, activate new line, get free phone, and port your number back in! Simple solution!

    • Beaker151

I have been with tmo long before they were tmo. I have never had a problem having them honor new rates. Just keep in mind you may have to refill your contract back to two years when doing so. It is best to do this when getting a new phone.

      • Anonymous

Exactly. They will typically bend over backwards to make a good customer happy. Last year when the Nexus One came out, I worked out a deal with them where they would let me switch to the then required 500 minute Even More plan and promised to switch me back to my grandfathered plan after the Google ETF period had passed, AND they gave me a $100 credit to my account because I couldn’t get the Google web store to give me the $179 new customer price on the phone.

If you’ve been a good customer and have paid on time for a long time, not only will they probably give you a free MT4G or other high-end phone… but they’ll probably give you money in the form of a credit to your account or reduce your monthly bill by a few bucks a month (resulting in decent savings over the life of the contract).

Sounds like you’re complaining without even calling to explore your options. There’s a reason T-mo’s customer service is always #1… see for yourself.

      Call Customer Care

    • Bizznezman

R U kidding me? Just last week current customers with 22 months upgrade tenure got top-of-the-line smart phones for $18 and sales tax — yes, after rebates — still FREE smartphones!! Many of these handsets sell for $700 and more in Europe. Perhaps T-Mobile should waive all data charges for current customers. That way there’ll be one less major competitor in the marketplace which will allow the other guys to raise their prices due to lack of competition. NEWS FLASH: I just found out it does not cost anything to upgrade networks and put up more towers. T-Mobile should give away phones, not charge for data and add hundreds of towers to their network. One sure way to attract new customers … make current customers happy … and go out of business.

      • Greennob

How lame are you? Explain how you could possibly think it costs nothing to put up new towers….There is the equipment, the labor to build and install this equipment, how about the monthly lease paid to land owner where the tower sits….Maybe you just think the tower fairy waves her magical wand and there is stands, with a deed to the wireless carrrier for the land delevered in a gift wrapped box.

        • CactusCat

Greennob, get a clue. Could you not see/feel/hear/touch the sarcasm dripping off Bissnezman’s post? You should read the whole message a few times before replying ?? Try reading it again slowly…

Yes, the Toothfairy moonlights as the T-Mobile Tower Fairy, didn’t ya know? :-P

      • Magenta Magic

        +1 Sarcasm FTW!

  • T Joedodger

All of these little perks T -mobile offers never benefit their current customers who have been with them for a while. My contract is up in 3 months, and I have no desire to stay with T-mobile.

  • Izzybrexx

So far I used 5.78gb on my ns…smh..damn Xbox live!..lol

Lower price plans would at least go a long way towards assuaging all the phone owners who have been hearing “soon” for 9 months for their pending Android updates.

    • Magenta Magic

So T-Mobile should lower their plans because manufacturers have dropped the ball with Android updates (that are never guaranteed, by the way)? I don’t think so…

It is time that the United States starts getting real competition in the mobile telephone industry. It seems like the monopoly grip that AT&T and Verizon has had on us is going to end and finally Americans will have a choice. People need to wake up to a company with better cell service and customer service and stop being lambs to the slaughter for the two giants.

I wonder if the “BIG T” will ever get the iPhone from Apple.

    • Anonymous

i think they will eventually….Its not benefitial for Apple to exclude any carriers…..Even though their one phone is on Verizon now….Verizon showed Apple and the world that they can succeed without the IPhone and so can any other carrier. Apple should be begging Sprint and TMO to carry their product

How does this comment have anything to do with the article??

  • WebConnect

Any of your ninjas know of any changes to T-Mobile’s webConnect plans? Like say, the ability to buy more unthrottled data, a cheaper webConnect Even More Plus plan or higher throttled speeds compared to smart phones?

    • Jim A.

I’m hoping for higher throttled speeds for their webConnect plans. 0.05 Mbps is way too slow for a computer.

      • Jason

If they increase their throttled webConnect speeds to be more realistic then I might switch back. 50 kbps is just too slow on my laptop.

Right now, I’m using Millenicom’s (www.millenicom.com) contract free 20 GB per month Verizon plan. They’re offering free USB modems for new accounts during February.

  • Deceptivesmiles

I just want em to increase the cap on the $15 data plan to at least 500mb. However, this might be a decent move for my family plan in the end

  • Lala

i currently pay $72 for 500 minutes unlimited data but i pass over 5 gb od data and they reduces my speed data im so angry now

    • Anonymous

How on earth are you surpassing 5gb of data? Are you tethering?

      • GG

I pass 5 GB all the time. I use my phone to watch movies and TV shows during my train ride to/from work. No tethering at all.

        • Lowel

Newer Android phones with Snapdragon (not sure about existing ones) will have Netflix streaming. I’m sure people will be hitting their 5 GB cap in days, haha.

Streaming Devours data….use WIFI to stream whenever possible

        • GG

The train doesn’t have WiFi. The only times I stream is to make my waiting feel faster (ie. train, doctor, car service, dentist, etc.). All those places don’t have free WiFi.

        • Meagan

@GG Just curious, what app are you using to watch movies & TV? How do you stay juiced up enough for the train ride?
If I had to commute on a train, I’d do the same to pass the time. I have SlingPlayer.
