T-Mobile G-Slate Get’s 80 Second Video Preview

The T-Mobile G-Slate, T-Mobile’s first Honeycomb Tablet is shaping up to be a Tablet to reckon with. Much to our jealousy and yours we suspect, at least one YouTuber has his hands on the T-Mobile G-Slate giving us an 80 second glimpse at the tablet. Based on the quick look, T-Mobile has a real winner on their hands combining an 8.9″ screen, 3D and 4G. The 3D cameras get a little love here but really, you just want to watch so have at it.

    THAT is the icrapad killer!

The only ipad killer is the ipad 2. What this is, a real competition to IOS. I like the direction they are going. Give us something with good tech.

Are you kidding? You have got to be realistic about tablets…This tablet can not please someone who is brain washed by apple, it won’t happen. The ipad is so outdated, that its sad. The Galaxy S is better than the ipad, what is up???????? LOL Ipad are in walmart now, because apple just wants to get rid of them…they are everywhere.

If they don’t price it like the XOOM it will easily be the best.

  • http://twitter.com/borodin1 Eugene Borodin

These things need to drop down in price big time before I even consider one. $500-$700 AND they get you for 2yr data – rip off in my book. Nook Color looks great all of the sudden.

    • Anonymous

I’m with you. The most I will pay for a premium tablet like this is $600 off contract and even that is pushing it for me. Considering my Dual Core laptop only ran me $399, I’m gonna be real thoughtful about how I spend that kind of cash.

    • ihatefanboys

yea nook color looks great……… for reading books. if u wanna be a cheapo they already have $199 android tablets available, but u pay for what u get. then again u would prob get one of those and still complain on here like a loser. its never gonna be $200.

      • Anonymous

Losers come onto a blog and put other people down in order to feel better about themselves. In the end they realize that makes THEM the loser and the cycle continues.

Root the Nook Color and it suddenly becomes a full blown tablet…………i would go as far as to say better then the Galaxy tab, hell of alot cheaper for sure

    • Eugene Who?

nook color? no processor, no camera, please. If you want a cheap tablet go with the a7. Sure it isn’t ideal but it still has a camera, usb port, mic, AND tegra 2 processor. Dont hate so hard on the G-slate tho. Its niiiiice.

I am getting this, I like it better than the xoom. I hope out is around 500 to 600$ and I will grab one.

  • 305buddyluv

That’s it? I was expecting a hole lot more. I.e the ability to plug a 2.0 usb drive to it or something.

  • Nathan

These things need to be priced at a point lower than Laptops. The missing functionality is still to great to cause the high prices of $600+

  • mmeyer4663

It is anaglyph for 3D!!!!! FAIL!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
Where is the microsdhc expansion slot??????

    • rubi76

Micro Sd and Sim Card Slot are probably in the back once you open the cover.

I don’t even like tablets but this looks interesting. I don’t see how people want these things. Serious I feel PC tabs no matter what O.S. is very pointless if you have a touch screen phone. Seriously to me just get a PC, Laptop, Notebook or smartphone. They all will probabbly have more features. The funny thing is Tablets been around for years wasn’t till apple came out with one now everyone either wants one or is making one.

    • Auser72

I think they have their niche on the portability department. I see them actually see them being a real alternative to magazines, books, newspapers. While its true that smartphones can do everything that tablets do, nothing can take the place of actual size. For most people 4″ screens are the max size when it comes to practicality of phones. And still not enough size for comfortable extended reading, some games, and various types of software without too much of a compromise. I also see tablets use in occupations such as schools, hospitals, transportation, construction, etc….where portability would be an issue.

    • http://twitter.com/FR35HM1NDZ Jamille Browne

False….. I have been wanting a tab even before the iFad I have always found Swivel PC touchscreens and tabs to be awesome but they were all so expensive and not even in stores and if they were or even online they would run in the thousands area.Tablets have NOT always been mainstream in stores.

LG / Samsung / Motorola / HTC will try and keep prices as high as possible in order to get the highest return as possible. Is this sensible, no its not.

Take a look at your smartphone, they charge you 500 dollars for something that is clearly not worth more than 300, but a lot of us have paid that or more for a phone. So the 800-900 price range seems fitting for them. What they fail to understand is what people are willing to dish out. and well.. I would never pay 500 dollars for a Galaxy Tab, actually I would never pay 200. Nor for an iPad which is a lot less useful, no matter what experience.

The only way Tabs are going to make it to the market is through volume. When they arrive in volume at 250-400 dollars in price they will sell like hotcakes. Apple has cornered the screen market by purchasing as much as it could, in order to keep prices high for other companies, making their products more expensive. All this is great and dandy for Apple an bad for consumers. But to our benefit, it will be OLD technology in half a year. So Apple has wasted 5 Billion dollar for six more months of dominance.

Now the question is, would screen manufactures want to corner the tab market like they have with cellphones, where they currently make money, or do they just want Apples money and try to overcharge everyone else.

It clear that Honeycomb is a huge differentiator over IOS, its more advanced and developers have all but praise for it. So the question now becomes, do Tab manufacturers want to be leaders and do they have the resources to become one. The company that decides to do so, will definitely overtake Apple (ehem ehem Motorola / LG?? Samsung, you need better customer support and faster updates to be considered anything).

What may happen is that HTC combines its forces with another company like Foxconn and make the difference. They are the only company that understands what it takes to grab this market, the rest have just followed their footsteps.

If any of these decide to dip their toes, we will benefit, otherwise it will be another year before most of us consider wasting money on tabs. By then Windows, HP, Nokia and others will also be in this segment of the market.

    • Titadab05

So…You’re just going to ignore the cost of production and demand a price that best suits your needs?

      Genius!

      • http://twitter.com/FR35HM1NDZ Jamille Browne

Oh please the cost of production and demand? Especially in this day and age? companies always buy in bulk which cuts costs down significantly and its not like these companies don’t have enough funds to do whatever they please. Even more so machines build them and people just get paid to monitor machines. I would never pay 500 for an on contract device maybe 399 at most

Do you realize the research and development that went into the development of this product. It might take years to recoup cost and and make profit. Have you noticed the lower and mid priced phones (comet,lg optimus) of today, offer better specs and more features than high end phones 18-24 months ago. The profit is in the trickle down technology. Apple has a unique business model in the sense that they have so many products using same technology and money from direct sell and licensing of accessories to help subsidize cost of there products. To put it blunt, like most consumers (including myself) you can’t afford to be purchaser of some new technology products. Hell it took me years of waiting on price to come down on flat screen tvs for me to afford one. And if carrier didn’t subsidize the smartphone I have now I wouldn’t be able to afford it.

“So Apple has wasted 5 Billion dollar for six more months of dominance” and “Apple has cornered the screen market by purchasing as much as it could”.
So iPad has cornered the 7″ & 9″ markets by selling a 10″ product? Free tip – don’t comment on business topics if you do not understand the basics of R&D and production.

I hope their 3D doesn’t require red & blue glasses. That 3D image sure looked like it did.

Also, was it just me, or was that guy’s voice really annoying? Its like he was trying too hard to make his voice sound smooth. They should’ve got the guy that does the movie trailers…”In a world crowded with 2D tablets comes a new player in town that will kick everyone to the curb” [cue explosion]

This tablet looks sweet, though. I would get it if I had that kind of money to play around with.

I like the specs. Good job T-mobile. The question is what about the price? Also, will there be a wifi only option. Sorry GTab. you have been bested.

I love it.. Hope it is not to pricey… if it is, why not just get a decent laptop with wifi max built in… This is where the tab manufactures need to realize, they may be convienent and neat and the latest thing but when you would spend the same $$ for a laptop that can do more… the choice should be clear.. the best thing for ANY tab would be to stay under 400 bucks… with or with out contract… OH and is this 3G/4G/HSPA?? if not 4G/HSPA what good is it on the new T-mobile network… Just saying.. not bashing…

    • awatt

You say that but it hasn’t stopped Ipad users from buying and those get up to 830 dollars…

Yes, finally the genius that figured this out! Those Apple people are dumb. I heard that the iPhone is actually a shaving razor and yet they all buy it thinking its a phone. So glad I come to this site and find donkeys like you to learn from (since I don’t like monkeys). Thank you kind ladybug.

wifi only version, $500-$600 off contract would be perfect. Anything above that would make me consider laptop.

I will wait on this to drop along with some official pricing and ipad 2 so that way we see some competition and hopefully a price drop because I’m really leaning towards the zune. I also don’t understand what’s with everyone feeling like they have to sign a contract for a tablet when its obvious you don’t but your looking at a higher price?

      I’m confused about that part.

That thing is serious! Congrats to Tmo and LG for raising the bar and not waitin for Apple and other phone companies to do so. This is seriously a game changer as far as the Tablet game goes. Only thing left to determine now is the build/quality of the device and the update readiness of it.

Right now, HTC and Motorola have the best reputation in updating their high end devices. I’m going to skip LG for now until they get a reputation of providing timely updates. So maybe, I’ll get an LG Android device next year.
