Samsung Galaxy S 4G “Coming Soon” On T-Mobile.com

The “coming soon” page on T-Mobile.com could be compared to the completion of a degree with graduation being the actual launch itself. Or something like that. Either way, T-mobile has up and placed the Samsung Galaxy S 4G on their website with a big “coming soon” message. We’re still eyeballing a February 23rd release date so not to long now! In the meantime, you can always sign up for more details but truthfully, we’ll keep you updated right here!

Given that T-Mobile has been saying the Android 2.2 update for the myTouch 3G Slide will be coming “soon” for 9 months, this implies the Samsung Galaxy S 4G will arrive in November or December of 2011.

Old phones yeah… Don’t expect miracles.

New phones… OS updates should be available 4-5 months after sent to the OEM.

Remember, OTA electronic updates are being demanded faster but in reality the industry was/is not prepared to dish these out to the “me first,” generation. T-Mobile claims they will be working with OEM’s to satisfy these demands.

This new Vibrant has a gray colored back according to the images on T-Mobile’s website. It also looks less glossy so the materials might be a bit different.

I know people claim the Vibrant feels cheap, but I disagree. It feels light as a feather and is extremely thin. I carry my phone in my pocket and I much rather use the Vibrant than the G2 for this reason even though the G2 is a good phone. I use it as a music player when I hit the gym. I’d rather not carry around a phone as heavy as a dumbbell when I can carry the new Galaxy S instead.

I’d love to know why they saw it fit to release a high-end phone without a friggin’ camera flash.

    Seriously, Samsung?

Guess I’ll wait for this HTC Pyramid or whatever it’ll be called. At least it (probably) won’t have missing hardware.

    • Trainin4life

there really is, always, something missing.. wtf smh… can’t they just put all the things in one product…

    • FranklyHonesto

I second that. Just about any other phone in its class already has a camera flash. Some may say ‘who cares, it’s just a frickin’ flash!’, but yeah, I do care. There’s no reason to hold it back, other than the fact that it will be included in the next model (or the next…or the next…).

Probably won’t buy it, but its still nice to see more HSPA+ phones. Shouldn’t been release with some updated hardware, but oh well…take what ya get now a days.

  • Vibrant

    looks like it is 2.1

F’n haters! this is a nice phone, period. I have a Vibrant, so I know more than most about the angst about them coming out with this “upgraded” model. And the 2.2 version on this phone probably wont be as buggy as my upgrade to 2.2
that being said if they offered some sort of a discount for an upgrade i would seriously consider it. if not, I’ll wait until my contract expires and purchase to best possible phone availble at that time. one more thing for those who complain about a plasticy feel…. I totally love the fact that it is sooo light in my pocket and doesnt feel like a set janitors keys in my pocket!
In today’s phone market there will always be something about a phone that some people just dont like. perhaps one day we’ll be able to custom order our phone (like dell computers), pay extra for what we want or less for what we dont, and have them shipped to us….NOW that would be cool!
    just my 2 cents……

      Giggle….

I’ve been thinking the same thing for some time now. If Dell really wants to break into the phone market they’d do this. “I’ll take the dual processor, the 1gig of RAM, the 4.3″ screen, Android 2.3 and go ahead and throw in a shot of wheat grass please…”

I wonder if it will have the vibrants GPS issues… And yes, we are still having issue with GPS on our vibrant after the 2.2 update, factory reset, gps restore… TMO put us on a “list” of users still having problems but did not offer any solution.
I hate being on lists lol

    • frigadroid

I will have to call and get on the list too. My cat hair refurb they sent me is behaving buggy too. Some reason it gets stuck in launcher and won’t go back to home. What’s worse the radio is weaker than before when I go in the casino.
I have samsung on top of my list, the one that begins with s and ends with t.

I will never ever buy another Samsung phone again! I hope many others share this feeling with me, don’t buy their phones and they hit the road! F#@k you Samsung! HTC all the way!

I might add that I posted this from my new g2 with working GPS and froyo! LOL

what the funk are you talking about?? cellphones from samsung are much better than funking i phone.
ive never met people who dont like samsung!

  • Android Fan

Though mobile manufacturers hate it, consumers will compare features on that so-last-year release of that old iPhone4, to any new mobile.

No simple led flash included on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S 4G?! Okay… What other feature makes up for the missing led flash? A thin plastic body… ???

  • JayDubya

I for one actually like the Vibrant. Even though I am what I consider to be a “serial phone swapper”, the Vibrant is one that I keep coming back to. Sure, I used stock ROMs, I used rooted stock, and rooted customs – it did what I wanted it to do, and did it well with how I had it configured. I will probably be picking one of these “2nd gen” versions, as with other 4G T-Mobile offerings in my area I average around 7mbps and peak at just over 10mbps. Sure, if you don’t like Samsung and their practices, shop elsewhere, but if you like the product and know what you’re doing, you can make the phone meet all of your needs AND MORE, and have a great phone while you’re at it.

Everyone is going on about 2.2 here. Isn’t this running a clean 2.3? A buddy has one and loves it. Says its the best phone around. I’m waiting for it to make its way to Costco then I’ll pass my Vibrant onto my wife to replace here iPhone 3g.

    • Anonymous

      No. It’s running Froyo (2.2).

SAMDUNG – only reason this phone will sell well is because we dont have much of a phone selection with tmobile. Plus the screen alone will make it move out of stores. Other then the screen it is nothing special , it is a slap in the face to current vibrant users . Just wait 2 months and the samsung 4gs+ will come out with a new feature ” a flash ” then 2 months after that samsung 4g+2 with led notification light .

and then 2 months after that Gingerbread with a metal back to give a “premium feel.” Of course, everything at that point will be on Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung will be saying that the Honeycomb update will be “coming soon!”

It sucks politics get involved with these phones….This Galaxy S 4G should’ve come out last yr instead of the Vibrant…..But the release of the Mytouch 4G prevented that from happening……And i still can’t believe the GS4G doesn’t have a camera flash!!!!! It’s 2011!!!! Every smartphone should have a flash enabled camera!!!!! Again, i think the TMO wanted to hinder the GS4G just enough to make the MT4G slightly “better”…..

    how much internal memory?

    • Buttons

I like your question because I’m wondering the same thing. The original Vibrant had 16gigs with a 2gig SD card. This has a 16gig SD card, so perhaps 2gigs internal? As much as I would love for T Mo/Samsung to leave the the 16gigs inside (yielding a 32gig space over-all) I doubt they would.
