HTC Flyer/Incredible S Debut With AWS Bands, T-Mobile Launches Possible?

This is one of those articles that’s full of pure speculation and a whole lot of hope. Earlier today HTC at Mobile World Congress unleashed a multitude of upcoming phones, some very exciting and some not so much. However, two caught our eye as their specs on the HTC website listed AWS bands and that always catches our attention. Now let’s just put up the major disclaimer, having AWS bands absolutely positively does NOT guarantee a T-Mobile launch. That being said it does make it possible that a US launch could happen sometime in the distant or not so distant future.

The HTC Incredible S has a 1 GHz second generation Snapdragon processor, 4-inch WVGA screen, 8 megapixel camera, front facing 1.3 megapixel camera and is capable of recording HD video in 720p.

The HTC Flyer is a 7 inch tablet with 1024 x 600 resolution but what’s the really great spec on this Tablet is the 1.5 GHz single-core CPU, 1 Gb of RAM plus 32GB of internal flash storage. Running a tablet-optimized version of Sense that also have a pressure sensitive stylus capability.

The bottom line is that both of these devices enjoy the possibility of running on the T-Mobile 3G/4G network but nothing is certain and I would keep your expectations tempered until we hear word from the mothership.

Still, we’ve got some videos for you to enjoy!

It’s a bit late now for a nice high-end HTC device; these are last year’s specs for top of the line devices.. this year’s requirement is Dual-core.

    • ihatefanboys

the 2nd generation snapdragon came out in october of last year with the G2, its not that old dude. lets get this “requirement” thing straight……. it’s your requirement. Why the hell a dual core would be a requirement is puzzling to me on many levels. i keep life simple, I pick a awesome phone, one i can live with for 2yrs of a contract, then swap it for the next generation. when i get my G3, itll prob have a quad core, and AI, lol….and i wont have to cry about requirements, itll just be there. o wait, but then again im an adult that doesnt need to impress my friends or use my phone to lure in skanky women..im happily married……im sure it makes a difference

      • Macbfac

Hahaha! Agreed.. well, except I’m not married. . . :(

    • brian

      ……so what will 2012 require?

      • eYe

Quad core of course. And phones in 2018 will have to do your laundry… that’s the minimum requirement to run Android 7.5 Rhubarb Pie, didn’t you know?

    • brian

      ……so what will 2012 require?

    • Anonymous

There isn’t even 1 dual core device out yet.

    • Nexus Eddie

HTC has always made great looking devices (for other carriers anyways) but their cameras, speakers, and build quality (but the use of great materials) is crap. I just found out my Nexus S (and the Vibrant) has the Voodoo sound chip which is amazing for me because I’m a music junkie. I don’t like Samsung but at least they put great hardware.

      • Anonymous

Agreed except I like Samsung as they do make the best phones.

Let’s add these to the pyramid and optimus 2x phones that aren’t coming to T-Mobile

    • ATL Guy

Sorry I should have clarified that to say that there has been all these unsubstantiated rumors.
      For example the Optimus 2x.
Well when you go to their website there is no mention of a US Tmobile release.

Don’t worry folks. These will be available “soon”. Just remember, T-Mobile has been telling it’s myTouch 3G Slide customers that the Android 2.2 update will be available “soon” for 9 months now. Long enough to have gotten pregnant and given birth!

    • Briguysj32

yea they’re alright, but I’m holding out for Pyramid.

    • Anonymous

If this comes to TMO then there will be no T-Mobile “Pyramid”. Just like since the Vibrant 4G is coming to T-Mobile thats why a Galaxy S2 wasn’t announced for us… I’m tired of waiting.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=205100175 Nathan Olonoff

meh. good for t-mobile but not for us hardcore android users. i’ll be waiting for pyramid or preferably a new nexus device from HTC.

    • Anonymous

a 4.3″ Nexus would rule the world.

      HTC build quality sucksssssssssssssssssss

  • Brian

Are you saying these phones have T-Mo 4g bands in them, or not? confused? I only buy unsubsidized phones anyway, so if they have the bands in them, I don’t give a rip if they are actually launched and branded by T-Mo so long as they work on T-Mo.

    • http://ashn.myopenid.com/ Ash

If there was not typo, then yes it does.

    • Anonymous

Ash is right. It DOES have our bands but as David stated “having AWS bands absolutely positively does NOT guarantee a T-Mobile launch”.

You may be ordering that Euro version.

      • Anonymous

Really it doesn’t matter though because it would work with our 3G network, just wouldn’t be t-mobile branded I mean should that really matter? If it truly did people wouldn’t buy a nexus ever.

        • Anonymous

Nah bro it dont matter at all. Like I said you just gotta order that Euro version and pay a lil more than our usual full price. I would use a phone with Vodafone as the carrier branding on it if it was the phone I want.

OK, so it would work on our 3G bands then. In that case, awesome. Don’t care to have T-Mble branding as long as I can get the wifi calling app from xda.

I thought you didn’t want a 4.3″ Android phone? Might want to check the current specs again. At this time, Pyramid is gonna be a 4.3″ Android phone.

See I wasnt sure which direction you were going with your comment “Uh, I do” but you took my comment in the wrong direction. “T-mobile: Nobody wants a 4.3″ Android.” that would be my made up comment stated BY TMO not me. Nah mean? Thats how they feel.

I like this phone, not dual core but it has some very good specs. I like the 4 inch screen just the right size IMO. I would like to see T-Mobile increase their inventory on top of the line phones, they would change the way many customers view their company. Many people think they are a poor man’s company but they are IMO the best. Get great phones and the attitude would change and that will bring in new customers. Just my opinion.

you don’t really need dual core unless you’re getting into some heavy duty graphics intensive gaming. It’s like saying you need a quad-core processor for your desktop. You only really need that for heavy duty gaming and such. The MT4g is a great phone that can easily be over-clocked to 1.7 Mhz.

  • Youngt82

Trust me t-mobile will not get these phones, they will have htc make some corny cheesy phones for us with lame specs. Haha smh

I would think that the HTC Incredible S would go to Verizon as the Droid Incredible 2 seeing that they have the original HTC Incredible (aka Droid Incredible.) Yes? No? David?

    would it support HSPA+?

I hope not I hope we get something better, like something for the keyboard lovers with the whole shabang. Let’s also have something better for the non-keyboard lovers too. Don’t let us miss out to the “atrix”. I don’t know if you guys agree but if not that’s fine, its just an honest opinion.

    • Anonymous

The Atrix 4G is pointless without the dock. Plus its still motoblur isn’t it?

  • Ghoff15

    Pyramid come to papa soooon……

  • Bigtsphoneblog

The Incredible S would be a good addition for T-Mobile in addidtion to Verizon…it would be like the grown-up’s version of the MyTouch4G, especially if it ships without a ton of carrier crapware. HTC has developed enough of its own brand equity now that it makes good business “sense” to offer a common product across multiple carriers.

T-mobile: Nobody wants a 4.3″ Android. If they want bigger than 4″ then we’ll have NUMERIOUS tablets for them to choose from.

I don’t think that all are begging for a 4.3″ I think it’s mostly the ones that are into technology, or power users, that’s about 10% of T-mobile’s customers, possibly less. most of them, like me, are perfectly fine with anywhere from 3.5″ up to 4.0″. Personally I don’t want some big scientific calculator looking phone. We might as well go back to the early 1990′s at that point. if you need the bigger screen space to watch movies, then you might as well just get a tablet.

        • ATL Guy

Where do you get your figures from?
          “10%”?
          How do you know?
I love people who post and act as though they know how everyone thinks and what is best for everyone.
          Pretty arrogant.

        • Anonymous

I agree although screen size has nothing to do with being a power user. Any real power user knows that the most powerful android devices right now are MT4G, Nexus S, Galaxy S and G2. The big screen size is just to fool people into thinking a device is a powerhouse in comparison you know like the Evo….

      • Anonymous

Anyone that truly wanted one would just get an HD2 and make it work.

Amazon.de is selling the Flyer for 669 Euros which ends up 730 US Dollars.

is it just me, or is the MWC mostly for the international communities (outside US)? And the show in Las Vegas mostly for us (USA)? becuase i’m not getting excited about phones for the european markets; hoping they come this way. besides even if they do come this way, they’re always watered down.

    • Anonymous

I guess we have to wait for CTIA March 22-24 which is in Florida.

  • Bbrownell007

I don’t know where you guys are getting this from, but I checked gsmarena.com and it doesn’t show the Incredible S with AWS bands. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

    • http://tmonews.com David

The HTC website points out 900/AWS/2100.

  • NexOne

so disappointed at HTC in MWC bringing 2010 spec devices.awaiting HTC Pyramid………

  • NardVa

This a nice phone but I’m gone hold on to my money and wait to buy the Pyramid. The Incredible S is gone cost about 700.00 dollars unlocked if it doesn’t come to T Mobile. Why spend that much on a single core 4 inch screen phone when a dual core 4.3 inch screen phone is right around the corner. You figure around June or July the Pyramid will drop on T Mobile and you can probably get it on contract with T Mobile for 199.00.

Incredible S is a great phone with great specs. All this hype about dual core is just that hype. Dual core is great if you like to play games on your phone. This phone has everything a super phone needs, good ram, good int. memory, sd card, FFC, 4 inch screen, and more. This would be a great phone to add to T-Mobile inventory.

  • Twistedmetalone

please bring me the pyramid 4.3 sense front facing camera, 5 or 8 megapixel cam wish flash with a super amoled screen. the screen on the my-touch 4g is terrible so please get a better screen. 4.3 4.3 4.3 lol please

    • Anonymous

It’s like TMO is just not listening.

  • Twistedmetalone

o and the mytouch 4g has the usb/charger port of the left side… it should never be on the sides of a phone.. please always place on the bottom or top of phones.

    • ATL Guy

I went from the Nexus where it was on the bottom to the MT4G where it is on the side.
      Gotten used to it.

    • Petey

No! Never on top of the phone… the vibrant charger port is on top of the the phone &it’s very inconvenient… I rather have it on the bottom or the side.

all these devices are GARBAGE, just bring iPhone with 4G and iPad with 4G, they have manyyyyy apps that support all of the iPhones and the iPad, unlike android which has like 100 apps that a tablet used would use, and MAYBE about 1000 normal games, no game is AWESOME on android, its SAD

ZamE… I agree with you to the extent that some tablets are “garbage.”

In fact, in my article a few months back I said that tablets are way overpriced for what they are, that even Android 2.2 is not a good OS for tablets, and that a 7″ display is too small for a multimedia device.

Unlike you, however, I think the iPad is a big ripoff (and most likely a fad device).

In any event, it seems our criticisms are accurate since:

    1. Honeycomb is coming out. Google says that 3.0 is a tablet OS and 2.2 is not.

    2. Prices will be going way down on “independent” tablets not tied to a carrier.

    3. Manufacturers have appeared to have gotten the message, 7″ for a tablet display is too small (and as Steve Jobs said, anything smaller than a 9″ display is DOA).

    4. 2011 tablets are becoming more like computers rather than the limited functionality the iPad had and has. (When the iPad debuted I told people it was an “enhanced picture frame” more than anything else.)
