Rollout for HSPA+ 42 plans will leak within days after this event. As HSPA+ 42 is part of their show @ CES.

I assume you mean another high-end 4G device, seeing as the myTouch4G fits your description perfectly.

I just want to know when they will be rolling out 4g on the gulf coast….

    • 850

It won’t be happening till March 2012 when T-Mo will supposedly be able to get our 3G band back. The Navy and other military bases around us has the license to our 3G band so we’re stuck on EDGE until then -_-

This is a suprise. Go Tmonews. What I would like to see other than android and Nokia stuffs are more pentaband umts phones. Also, please find out if T-Mobile has any LTE plans, and most of all, I hope T-Mobile deploys HSPA+ over its licensed PCS band.

    • LurkR

The only plans T-Mobile has with LTE is when its going to combine it HSPA+ which is going to be called LTHE or something like that and thats not going to happen until 2012. There was an article on this not too long ago on this website.

      • http://pharaohtechblog.blogspot.com/ Conan Kudo (ニール・ゴンパ)

LTHE is not related to LTE at all. There is no combining. However, a possibility does exist that their HSPA+ network is being built with LTE in mind, to make it easy to switch to LTE when they want to. They could even provide handsets with LTE radios that are deactivated, and once 2012 rolls around, flip the switch to shut off their HSPA+ network and turn on the LTE network. At that time, most people with phones that don’t have LTE radios would qualify for an upgrade, and T-Mobile could offer some incentives and deals for those that don’t.

  • Farhan

Really looking forward to more news on HSPA+ dual core phones….

When is CES? Today? or Tomorrow? I don’t remember lol

  • Bimmerz

Since I think you’ll do a great job covering every spec of dust that relates to “T-Mobile”, I won’t bother with any request. So I’ll just say this – have a good time while you’re there!

And remember, what happens in Vegas…stays in Vegas (yes, try to have that kind of fun!). ;o)

this is your first CES right? congrats if it is.

Congrats on attending your very first CES. I’ve been reading this site for a VERY long time and definitely think this invite was long overdo. Enjoy CES, soak it all in, and just have fun. Oh, and if you could find out about any future Android phones coming out with a qwerty keyboard, 4G, and perhaps a dual core processor that would be awesome.

If not, it’s all good! You deserve this so just enjoy it..

    • http://tmonews.com David

Thanks for the kind words, this is a big moment for me and I’m both super excited and super nervous, it’s definitely overwhelming!

  • Grammatica di Polizia

Did you get a formal invite or are simply attending? I ask because formal invites get access to vendor press events and areas that attendees don’t.

Just wondering what the coverage will be.

    • http://tmonews.com David

I’ll be attending both T-Mobile events, the 11am press event and will cover that live and then the party again during the evening. I’m formally invited to both, I’m attending the event as press. I’ll be hitting up the LG and Samsung press events as well, no Motorola for me though.

  • Grammatica di Polizia

I am most curious what everyone, the majors, are doing with tablets. That’s supposed to be the hot electronic in 2011.

Cell phones, smartphones and superphones won’t have much, the manufacturers scrambling to compete with the iPad.

I’d be curious, also, what Lenovo is doing, both to break into the U.S. market with their Chinese “iPhone” and the hybrid netbook/tablet, that they introduced at CES 2010, but said it will come out this year. I’d like to see t-mobile come out with a combo — hybrid — tablet like Lenovo has.

    • http://tmonews.com David

Well, rumor has the LG Tablet will be coming our way, so that and the 2X are what I’m looking for at the LG press event, if not I’ll get to see something fun and get some experience with all these events. I have an inkling we’ll see lots and lots of 4G talk from T-Mobile, if you want any pictures of anything in particular, even not T-Mobile related let me know!

Android tablets. Would like to see 3G capable but not locked in to a cell provider, a screen that’s visible from multiple viewing angles (vice having to look at it from straight on), and importantly have full Android capability. In other words, supported and guaranteed updates and Android Market access.

  • Matt

You pick the one year I am not going. Dang!

    • http://tmonews.com David

Haha Garett told me that, I told him to tell you I was attending!

      • Matt

Yeah he emailed me earlier. I am only about a 4 hour drive away but I left my blogger pass and other stuff at home in Portland.

        • http://tmonews.com David

Ah man that sucks, that would have been great to meet up, I’m going to try and attend most of these events regularly. CTIA is in Orlando this year which is only 2.5 hours for me so it’s kind of a no brainer.

  • Gersonc06

PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE LG OPTIMUS 2X BECAUSE THAT PHONE LOOKS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

David is the 00 agent for the T-Mobile news at CES very nice!

  • 4G_or_not_4G

I would like to see T-MO get a Top of the Line phone that is not also on all the other networks that they can call their own, i.e Nexus One, and Nexus S, not T-Mo phones. Galaxy S, Optimus 2X will be on everybody. The MyT4G and G2 are nice phones but no one considers them the top tear phones. Lets make this the year T-Mo gets to stand tow to tow with the big boys!

  • Petey

    iPhone please.

    • Anonymous

Chug along to ATT for an iPhone.

      • Petey

Will probably “chug” along with Verizon if T-Mobile isn’t going to carry the iPhone. (If Verizon going to carry it and T-Mobile isn’t planning on getting it.) Most likely T-Mobile going lose some subscribers if they don’t plan on carrying it.

Ask if we’re gonna get an Iphone 4g… or any N Series NOKIAS. :)

    • Petey

For sure about the iPhone! Can careless about any other phones. :(

David , did a certain Tmonews Member give you this great idea? Haaa!!!

    • http://tmonews.com David

Haha I can’t give you all the credit but if ANYTHING gets to the main page with meego in the heading, you can bet you’ll get a shout out!

      • Wilma Flintstone

        Coolarooney! :D

You know I’m waiting anxiously on some Meego news. Haaa!

Thanks for streaming it. That’s really more than I could ask for. If I see something Meego pop up on Tmo, I will scream with joy. I really will. Haaa!

Also there is an Ustream app that lets you broadcast from your phone. Hope that helps.

Put some fire under T-Mobile you guys and tell em what we want. We all want a 4.3″+ SuperAMOLED Android phone LOL. Wishfully thinking.

  • Grammatica di Polizia

Congratulations David, going to CES is an exciting event whether vendor, press, or attendee (it’s kinda like the Super Bowl for electronics). Just read somewhere that tablets will be the big thing (apparently a lot of them not so good).

I don’t know about phones, maybe superphone will kick smartphone off the lexicon list. And this might be the year of the application, where software functionality is what is shown off. Maybe there will be some super fast one-click application to wipe phones if one is stopped by the police (new California law here, police can field search one’s cell phone without a warrant).

If you are going as an attendee make sure to enter the contests they have. I know someone whose boss won $1,000,000 cash, the door prize at the time. I don’t know what the prizes are now, but back then I thought it amazing that someone could win $1 million in cash as a door prize. With the economy and declining attendance maybe they don’t do that any longer, at least not $1 million in cash.

Don’t forget the swag. I send out my people to go to my industry’s conferences to get bags of stuff (to give away to charity).

Here’s a list of vendors who will be appearing:

I’d like to see them come out with new, more agressive pricing on their web plans. $25-$30 isn’t going to be the norm for very long, so T-Mobile should start the downward trend and go in at $10-$15.
