T-Mobile Announces Dell Streak 7, Priced At $200

T-Mobile has announced via their Twitter the official pricing of the Dell Streak 7, just $199.99 after a $50 mail in rebate. That’s a far cry from the rumored and then debunked $330 price that floated around back on the 20th of January. The good news is that the rumored dates we nailed came true and you can be the proud owner of the first T-Mobile 4G tablet on February 2nd. Any questions?

Meh. Good news if it was the G-Slate.

  • Wilma Flintstone

Good choice Tmo. My opinion is that any tab over $300 is too expensive. $200 may be the sweet spot for tabs. Some more tabs come to Tmo for under $300. I’m waiting for a Meego one obviously but I’ll have to wait and see whats in store.

  • Wondercoolguy

I’m atleast going to go drool on it but I’m not going to get it because I’m goingto get the G-slate. Dell has poor support for their android products. So the streak getting Android 3.0 is probably a year away. I just hope that LG sees this and makes the same price

How much is it without contract? I am torn between this and Galaxy Tab.

    • Anonymous

Engadget says $450 but I don’t see where they get that from.

      • Anonymous

So it will be same as Galaxy Tab after rebate.
I’d like to know what I should get. If streak 7 has dual core CPU, the choice is obvious.

The dell is definitely a good purchase for the specs.

    • Aerofanbig

Well, do you want 3G or 4G? The Galaxy will be “outdated” as of Feb 2nd in the flesh, not just rumors. So, pay nearly the same for old technology, or get the new stuff. Or, wait it out and see when the Galaxy 2 and LG Slate come out, which will have better specs then the Streak, more then likely

  • J Davis 418

Dont even wate your time with the galaxy tab. I work for T-Mobile and the Galaxy Tab has horrrribbbbleeeee hardware that will NEVER update to honeycomb so whats the point? Its so laggy its ridiculous and its just running android with Samsungs UI that was designed for a PHONE not a tablet. Its end of life is already here with the arrival of the Dell Streak 7. The no contract pricing will be similar to that of the current Galaxy Tab no contract pricing, and it has more than enough ability to eventually update to Honeycomb.

But if you want the best… Wait for the G-Slate by LG :)

    • frigadroid

Oh the wonder of samsung lol
Where do they make the dell? with so many Americans out of work im trying to buy American as much as possible. boycott the republic of scamscum and their unfair trade policies!
Its interesting to note a iphone is 33% samsung parts, Apple does 8 billion dollars of business annually with them yet they try to block the sale of the Iphone in Korea. Funny thing is it don’t work because the people want it like a drug.

      • Tortionist

Learn some economics before you go spouting off crap like that. Buying American made is a big fallacy. Toyotas, Samsungs, Kias, LGs, etc are all grown in Iowa. If you don’t get my little story here, then you have no business commenting on economics, trade, and/or tariffs. Unfair trade policies are actually created by the U.S. when they slap high tariffs onto import goods.

        • frigadroid

Sounds like your the one who knows so little about economics dispute the facts with facts not your fantasy. Your comment shows that you have no idea about trade policy.
I doubt you have ever even done any business overseas or for that matter you probably spend all your time in your mom’s basement spouting out crap with no facts to back it up about things you know nothing about.
Get back to me after you graduate and fill a few passports with stamps doing business over seas like myself then I might be willing to debate you intelligently.

        • Tortionist

Actually, I do know a bit about this stuff. My major is economics/finance. most of this stuff that I spout has been spouted by people like Milton Friedman and Adam Smith, as well as many other economists, so I’d keep quiet if I were you.

        • DonttouchmyTouch

Dude, no offense but Adam Smith/MFriedman is “guns or butter” type stuff. Totally academic classroom ivory tower. In the real world there is more than guns or butter, there are strategic industries like the tech sector, which drive innovation, employment, and offshoot industries. If you believe the Japanese (past tense) and Koreans (present tense) fight fair, you are nuts and have never dealt w/ selling in their markets. Frigaroid is right on this one.

        • frigadroid

Thanks for the back up. I had a hunch this was a economics student with no practical real world experience. Sorry Tort about the moms basement it was low and worn out.
I still stand behind the original post as facts about Apple’s case in particular. I haven’t any idea as to what crap I am supposedly spouting as I have yet to see any facts disputed only this I’m smarter than you so you need to be quite BS. Like I said Tort if you would like to debate the facts intelligently when you graduate and get some experience I will gladly debate you on this. For now I suggest you do some research on Apple in Korea. Don’t you have a phone with a google search bar, oh the irony lol.

        • Tortionist

you’re smarter than me? That remains to be seen. I know that “it’smichaelnotmike” is smarter than me, but he’s proven it. You sir, have not. I don’t care about Apple, Steve Jobs gives new meaning to the term overly greedy. i don’t care for Apple. They’re good for the economy, competition , and innovation, which helps consumers get better products because of it, and at lower prices, but that’s it. I’m not some dumb 20 yr old. You have no clue as to whether or not you’re smarter than me, so let’s not just assume….There’s 3 rules to winning any battle or war I was taught back in the active army…1. know yourself, 2. know your enemy, and 3. know the terrain. While I do know myself and the terrain, I don’t necessarily know the enemy, not saying you’re an enemy, just applying what i’ve learned, on the other hand, you don’t know your enemy either. Once again this is for the sake of applying learning. You made the unfortunate assumption that you knew me, or at least my type, shame on you. we all know what happens when we assume. by the way, thanks for the apology, I do appreciate it. I’m 39 and going to college. my mom is in an elderly community. We all do low things from time to time, that’s understandable. One of the rules of Behavioral psychology is that when you have to tell someone that you’re smarter than they are, it usually means you’re not. It’s a lot like saying,”I’m humble”. When you say you’re humble it usually means you’re either not, or you’re on the defensive, which means you’re lacking somewhere, like self confidence or self esteem. I digress, I don’t necessarily agree with Don’ttouchmyTouch, since he hasn’t proven anything or given his credentials….i never said the Koreans or Japanese fight fair, they’re just trying to play our game their way. Since you nor Don’t touch haven’t really figured out the story of foreign products growing in Iowa, can’t believe that you or Don’t touch are smarter than me. I have a non-educated friend that figured it out without me explaining it to him. So if you’re as smart as you seem to think you are then tell me what the story is all about. I have nothing against you or Don’ttouch….just remember my words…..know your enemy, before you act….I still make that mistake from time to time.

        • frigadroid

Ha ha army, I was in the airforce why you were still in grade school lol. Open your mouth and insert other foot. I don’t claim to be smarter than anyone only you are full of BS not to debate with facts only with replies like you need to be quite. You are the one claiming to be the authority of trade policy because you take economics and have read a few books, oh please. I will claim to be more informed than you about doing business in asia, but thats not saying much.
Why do I feel like Rodney Dangerfield in back to school, I guess because I don’t get any respect.
Donttouchmytouch was right you are nuts.

        • Tortionist

I think you’re the one in your moms basement, i’m happily married with kids and going to school, among other things.

  • BigMixxx

Aggressive pricing, nice hardware, exclusivity with what seems to be a very good product. This is VERY good TMO, VERY GOOD. 450 as a non contract price. I’m buying one…my hd2 with this. I’m happy…

    • Tortionist

That’s all nice and such, but there’s one thing that makes me remain skeptical…..it’s made by Dell. the Dell computers suck. For no reason at all they will close out of programs straight to the desktop. That makes me leery of buying anything Dell.

      • BigMixxx

Well….folks really like their streak 5 phone, check the hashtag on twitter #dellstreak. People like it, they are begging for an update since they’ve received it.

        • Tortionist

          Good to know….I’m just a bit leery….

        • Tortionist

          Good to know….I’m just a bit leery….

          Good to know….I’m just a bit leery….

      • Ghostman34

I think you’re just a Dell hater. Dell is a good product especially when companies use them as their core desktop/server setup. You must have had one bad case of a random reboot and now hate on Dell.

Can we get some info about new phones coming to T Mobile in the month of February? Not impressed with the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. I wanna here some info about the new HTC phone coming to T Mobile. The one that looks like a big Nexus.

Poor battery life and low resolution screen equals fail for the Streak 7. Why even put a Tegra2 in this thing? There are Tegra2 smart phones coming out with higher resolution screens then this thing.

  • Anonymous

Now you have to decide what do you want:
if you want a good screen and multimedia capability, go for Galaxy Tab
if you want speed, speed, speed, go for Streak 7
I have settled with GT because the screen is better and better battery, and be able to charge over USB (I have several external batteries).
