Live From The LG Press Event

We’re live at the LG CES 2011 press event and just got a quick look at the upcoming Optimus 2X. With no carrier announcements we’re still not ready to officially call this for T-Mobile but the rumors are all pointing in that direction! Take a look at the images below for the considerable specs this bad boy from LG will bring to the market including a Dual Core Processor, 1080p Full HD playback and recording. Grab a look at the video as well for a little more Optimus 2X action!

I want it if it comes to TMO, but it also depends on when it will come to TMO. Thanks David for the updates.

You are welcome, thanks for reading!

Looks like a beast. The first thing going on it, though, is ADW EX.

Congratulations on making it to your first C.E.S. I don’t think I would have noticed this site if I weren’t on a T-Mobile contract, but I enjoyed reading for the past few years. My birthday is tomorrow so here’s hoping you guys nab a phone from the conference and happen to ship it my way.

    • http://tmonews.com David

I can understand that, I don’t imagine we capture a whole lot of the Verizon or Sprint audience!

  • http://twitter.com/Knownoutcast Black/ #NT

Seems pretty nice. Some the selling/no selling points will be the storage space both internally and externally, ffc, and the update exposure.

I’m interested to see how the battery holds up w/ a dual-core processor

  • Anonymous

Looks very nice! I’m impressed…probably looking at my next device if it makes it to T-Mobile. I am guessing “power of two” is all about the dual-core processor. hopefully the battery is big enough to last over dual core performance.

i guess i should have finished reading the article–i’d have answered my own question about that “power of two” meant LOL :-)

      • Wilma Flintstone

Prepare to be Charmed by the Power of Three!!! Ok, sorry niididdy, I just couldn’t resist the Charmed reference after reading the power of two comment.

          Lol…no problem, Wilma. :)

Do we know if T-Mobile is at CES? ATT just took the cake with some HUGE announcements. This just came out of left field because they are not known for having good android phones.

I HOPE T-Mobile will announce some super phones soon.

    • Camille

I think that T-Mobile will be making their announcements tomorrow

    • Anonymous

Just after AT&T’s keynote Tmo was seen running to their van with their big announcement, the Cliq 2.

Definently looks worth to be the very first Dual Core phone to hit the market. That UI looks farmiliar though…hmmm. At any rate my position remains the same: SuperAMOLED and 4.3″+.

  • Anonymous

OMG ATT just dropped the 4.5″ SuperAMOLED Plus Infuse 4G. Tmobile you better make my F!@#$%n day!!

    • Anonymous

4G? And at&t in the same sentence is blasphemy.

  • Camille

If I’m correct, the last two pictures are a different phone, not the Optimus 2X, but another phone called the Optimus Black.

    thats a hot phone

So is T-Mobile hiding from you David?

    • http://tmonews.com David

No, not to mention I’ve said like 5 times I’m attending their events, those are invite only and they invited me! Me, TmoNews David are cordially invited!

      • Anonymous

Hey hey sorry I just havent heard anthing about TMO yet. Didnt mean it in a bad way.

Isnt one of these going to Verizon.

    • Anonymous

I remember hearing that. Hopefully its coming to all of us like the Galaxy S did.

  • http://twitter.com/MannyC_ Emanuel Cedeno

What time is the Tmo conference? Isn’t it tomorrow?

  • Petey

Now, I wonder if they going to keep their words regarding keeping their users updated to the lastest andriod, otherwise if they’re just like samsung, then I’m not going to support LG either :/ but it look like a very slick phone!

  • Droid

Have you guys seen the Sony Xperia Arc? Damn, I’m in love. Forget the IPhone. I want that Xperia Arc. Bring it home T-Mo.

    • Petey

I’m still interested in the iphone! haha hope there’s news related to the iphone coming to T-Mobile.

      • Droid

TRUE. Still hoping for an Iphone 4, but if that doesn’t come to T-MO, a Meego device or Xperia Arc will just do. If we get neither… then…. DAMN! At least lets get some unlocked phones with T-Mo’s 3G ( I careless about 4G right now, I barely get 3g in my area)

    • Anonymous

If it is like all the other Xperias phones, Sony will probably release it first quarter of of 2012.

Samsung and LG updates their phones just a like. Slow. Most of their phones are the same with each other. AT&T announced they are getting the 4.3 inch android device with HTC. Why can’t T-Mobile get that!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2TYDZNWJ5Q6FMVI54UD2EUQP6Q gustavo

Tmobile will probaly end up getting a 4.0 inch android device with a Super New Generation 680mhz Qualcom processor which will be the envy of everyone. As for a 4.5 screen, people like me 6’3 dont need screens we can see, although i have to wear corrective glasses, a 3.7 inch screen and a magnifying glass is all I need.

    • Anonymous

      LOL

  • Facts

um, please edit your article to be factual. The pictures show TWO SEPARATE DEVICES. The Optimus 2X (rumored for Tmobile) and the superior Optimus Black (rumored for Verizon). The “NOVA” screen technology (and let’s be honest….name one person who wants their screen ‘brighter’, hahahhahahahaha) will be on the Optimus Black

  • justmike

Funny how LG seems to be copying the Galaxy S look, right down to the Touchwiz-clone launcher.

    • Anonymous

And people are bashing it. That just goes to show that people hate on Samsung products JUST because its made by Samsung.

  • we have a winner?!

holy crap! Did ATT just steal ALL of TMo’s thunder? A 4.5″ SAMOLED PLUS Android Monster with a 1.2GHz Hummingbird processor, FFC (1.3 Megapixels to boot) and an 8 megapixel back camera….wow…..just wow

Hope TMobile has something insane planned (willing to bet thousands they don’t)

  • Just call me Dude

Everyone should just relax…T-Mo won’t let us down this time…….in the wake of all these monster phones I’m sure T-Mo will announce the Cliq2 or mayge even better yet a replacement for the Garmin phone. Who wants a US HSPA+ version of the Desire HD or a 4.5 inch beast from Motorola, those are for losers WAY TO GO TMO!!

    • Anonymous

YEAH give me a Cliq XToo while your at it! How bout the Behold III as well!

    • Anonymous

      lmao…oh man the sarcasm.

Ok so I know AT&T just dropped a bomb heavy with the Infuse but if I see anything Meego Related coming to Tmo, that’ll be all I need to be happy. That Xperia Arc is looking sweet too. Thanks for doing this Live again David.

    • Droid

Xperia Arc is one super sexxxy phone!!!! I’m in love

I was hoping for but not expecting 4.0″ – 4.5″ screen’d phones to be dominant like this but I damn sure welcome it. EVERY carrier should have atleast one monster android in Qtr or they are just slacking…(T-Mobile??). I know I know I still have to wait for their announcements but I’m just sayin.

    • Wilma Flintstone

Hey I can’t blame you. I want a 4.3 – 4.5 inch Meego or Android (Preferably Meego) Superphone too. Can’t wait to see what Tmobile has in store for us. Come on Tmo, bring the Thunder!!!

      • Droid

We could only dream! I will buy the N9 only if it comes with T-Mos 3G. If not… then I will be stuck with my Nexus S til something better comes out. I prefer a Nokia, Sony or Samsung. TMO doesn’t need anymore HTCrap. At least throw us some new Windows 7 phones. I would love a Samsung WP7.

    • Droid

      We’re gonna get the Cliq 2 with 2.1. :)

  • Droid

WE WANT NOKIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! … but the Sony Experia Arc will do :)

    • Wilma Flintstone

Agreed 100%!!!! Bring on the Nokias with Meego!!! The Arc is Sweet and will be a great addition as well.

    • Petey

      We want the iPhone!!!

Well this phone and specs are right on schedule. Recall this post from almost a year ago, February 18, 2010. So these phones are not surprising at all.

“MWC” is “Mobile World Congress” which is where the real mobile stuff debuts, not at CES:

“At MWC this year Qualcomm had a booth and was showing off its next generation processor, the dual-core with twin 1.5 GHz Scorpion . What was important was for people to note that the reps were trumpeting that this chip was the main difference between current smartphones and the superphones debuting ‘later this year’ as the rep characterized things. He also called them superphones not superphones.

You should also note that the reps were talking about the new superphones having an HDMI port and the capability of the phone exporting video to an external monitor, and playing/capturing video in 1080p HD mode; current Snapdragon processors decode at 720p HD.

IMHO that is the big secret of the superphones coming out, the multi-media aspect of them, being able to connect a phone via an HDMI port to one’s home flat panel TV, download a Netflix movie and play it as if one is playing a DVD.

Correction… I meant “He also called them superphones not smartphones.”

  • Grammatica di Polizia

Sheesh people, calm down. Attendee registration started today at 12 noon.

CES is officially January 6, 7, 8, and 9. It has not even started and you all are acting like it’s over and you have seen all there is to see.

And like last CES, I predict that carriers and manufacturers will wait until Mobile World Congress to debut the hot phones.

As I said before, CES’s hot item will be tablets.
After all, CES is an all-around electronics show.

Yes, there’s phones that debut, but MWC is where it’s at for mobile.

  • Grammatica di Polizia

Don’t think Mobile World Congress is THE EVENT for mobile? Well check out this year’s keynote speakers. And recall all the hot phones that were announced last MWC (especially HTC’s and the Samsung Galaxy S).

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2TYDZNWJ5Q6FMVI54UD2EUQP6Q gustavo

T mobile will announce 24 data devices, 22 low end phones and 2 data cards, mark my words Tmobile won’t come out with a 4.3 or 4.5 device, they will come out with a Behold 3 a Cliq 2 with 2.1, Cliq xt 2, and another set of low end phones. Tmobile’s demographic is quantity not quality!!

    • Anonymous

lmao…the f*up thing about your comments is that your actually close to being right. you just forgot to add some mid range phones. the low end phones numbers are going to be in the teens

    • Anonymous

Dude your trippin me out lol. Im gonna remain optimistic but only until tomorrow afternoon. Somebody said that MWC is where the real announcements will be but it doesn’t look like ATT VZW isnt waiting until then so TMO shouldn’t either.

  • Grammatica di Polizia

Guatavo… good comment, you may be right, especially since T-Mobile appeals to the family, not the “Droid geek crowd.”

But I disagree on your quality statement. T-Mobile has many quality phones, including those made by Samsung, HTC and Motorola. Even Motorola’s medium grade phones are very nice.

And I think the Vibrant G2, HD7 and others are fantastic phones.

However, although I really enjoy my Vibrant, I am selling it, as I said I would in July, because January through August we are going to see other must-have T-Mobile handsets.

As I said back in Feb 2010, by March-Aug 2011 T-Mobile will debut at least two superphones with dual-core, 4G, 1080p HD recording/playback, 8MP camera, 16GB internal memory, 32GB microSD slot, HDMI, and SAMOLED-quality 4″ display.

I am selling my Vibrant while I can still get about $300 to $350 for it.
