The myTouch4G Dock Has Arrived!

A wondrous surprise just hit my inbox with the news that the myTouch4G dock has finally arrived in at least one T-Mobile retail store.  Offered as a great way to watch movies, show a recipe or play a game, the Bluetooth Swivel Dock can be all yours for the price of $49.99!  Based on the design of the myTouch4G, it was pretty much assumed that a dock would be coming down the road and, for plenty of myTouch4G owners, this just might give you a whole new way to enjoy your phone!  No word on whether all stores have these in or just a few but I’d check your closest retail location to see if you can grab one today!

      DLNA works great

I’m sure DLNA is great but it is still a technology that is few and far between. Definitely not mainstream enough to ignore things like an HDMI out.

    I want more details!!!!!
Tell that joker who sent you the picture to open the box.

  • Illegalmachine

Wait….I just realized I don’t think ANY of the $20-40 cases that T-Mobile had on launch day are compatible with this, as none of the copper contacts are exposed.

So I’ll have to un-case my phone every time I put it in the dock?

    That sucks.

    • Jen

None of the cases do. We had an accessory sale at our call center today. I checked all of the cases none of then have the extra spot for the dock and most of them say mytouch hd. I just bought an extra case and im going to cut a spot once the car dock is available if there isn’t another case.

    • http://twitter.com/raitchison raitchison

The gel case we got on eBay for my Wifes phone exposes the contacts, but I still suspect that the case itself would get in the way of a successful “dock”

    • Uansari1

Same complaint many Nexus One owners had… but not me. Why anyone would want to hide their beautiful handset and make it bulky is beyond me. Just be more careful and don’t drop your phone. I’ve had my N1 since it was announced and have yet to drop it. **knocks on wood**

    • Kpc21

      I think the N1 was like $89.99???

What we really need is the CAR dock

  • pantlesspenguin

Just wait a couple weeks, I’m sure it’ll be on Amazon for $20 soon. I sure as heck won’t pay $50 for a dock.

$38 +1 cent shipping. Can quite tell if it utilizes 3pin connection or just micro-usb.

its a great dock i saw this dock like two weeks ago just searching for mytouch 4g accessories. But its been sold out every where i see it for sale. David do u know of any websites that have the in stock?

  • Petey

Do I really need a dock?… don’t think so. saving that $50 plus tax for something else lol.

  • http://www.facebook.com/MatthewSki Matthew Kalinowski

does this work as a car dock and does it use the 3 metal dots on the left side of the phone?

  • BrianH

I went by T-mobile and looked at this dock and I am so pissed. It does not use the gold contacts on the phone like the Nexus. It using the F-ing micro USB port! WTF?!?!?

    • Biggbrother

Funny but I thought the opposite for my Nexus One car dock. Using Bluetooth was overkill. Especially since Bluetooth is prone to have bad connections and drops. Nexus One owners are still frustrated by the Bluetooth setup the N2 docks use.

      • BrianH

I was just talking about the contacts built into the phone for a dock not bluetooth. I have both a nexus one car and desk dock. I would prefer this phone use these since they will automatically turn on desk mode or car mode. The bluetooth on the N1 car dock was a waste because the sound is terrible. My N1 dock is connected to speakers and the bluetooth works great.

I have my Nexus One in my desk top dock connected to my boss stereo system and it sounds killer. After I can pull the phone off the dock and walk around the house and still channel the playlist thru the dock into the stereo. That is what I was hoping for for the My Touch 4G. Why bother with the brass connection if you are not going to use it. Still hoping someone makes one, I want one. I am pissed.

Thanks to this article I found out they were available. I went to my local T-Mo store and bought one.
I really like it. I’ve got it in my car now, hooked up via my car charger and it works great! It’s very portable so it can be used as a desk dock and a car dock. No need for both.

    • Firestorm117

hey how exactly do you go about mounting this in your car? I don’t see signs of it having a car mount.

Based on the pictures on the weblink one comment provides, the pictures clearly show that it doe not use the micro-usb port on the phone so I would assume it uses the brass contacts on the side, the usb cable will ofcourse be required for power and sync ability with power-adapter and PC respectively.

  • Alexfromop

No 3 pin use… Smfh… WHEN and WHERE can I get one that does use them?

  • BrainTumor

Its not TMO decision. Asurion lets TMO know what they will cover and not. FYI… the Galaxy Tab can not have PHP either.

  • Tmosux

ITS REALLY COOL..I HAVE ONE. IT DOES NOT USE THE GOLD 3 PIN CONTACTS SO ICE_COOL UNFORTUNATELY YOU ARE INCORRECT. YOUR PHONE WILL PLUG INTO A MICRO USB CONTAINED WITHIN THE CRADLE.

    • ice_cool

Thanks for confirming about the micro-usb Tmosux !!

I don’t think its a deal breaker. I think the micro-usb hook-up maybe in place by design to hold the phone in place better compared to 3-pin contacts, which would have probably required additional friction-type or bendable-plastic prongs to keep the phone in place on the cradle.

  • Jon

I have this dock. Guy, read the comments: it does not use the docking pins on the side of the phone. It does not automatically throw the phone into any sort of docking mode, and Sense does not support landscape orientation (yet?). FM radio still requires you to plug in the headset (which is blocked by the dock).

In that respect, it’s disappointing to me. However, it is a safe and sturdy way to charge / sync your phone. The base is weighted with a rubberized bottom. It feels like a quality product, but T-Mo made some really bone-headed decisions with this phone, and the planned accessories are no exception.

It’s not as mind-blowing as I would have hoped. It’s basically an iPhone dock with a swivel stand and Bluetooth radio for Audio output. It’s better than having the phone charge on the side of your desk, I think.

this just sounds like a bad product. $50? and it doesn’t work the way it should at all? try again htc/tmobile…

  • Dbaby

    Aren’t dock for boats??

  • Yousuck

I can’t see the UPC code what is it 610214624802 :)

  • Aoramosi

The Swivel dock for my Touch 4G does not come with USB cable to conect it and the bluetooth only work if yu have a headset conect to the swivel.

    • Fasttdog

You have to goto bluetooth setting and choose connect to swivel dock

I dropped by local T-Mobile store after seeing this post to if they had received them yet. Yes they do have them but there’s no way I would buy one. It’s entirely too thick and the lack of automatically switching into docking mode kills it for me. However, the sales girl told me that the docking device they were told about and “trained” on was not this device and that one did make use of the 3 contacts. So it sounds like there is another one in the works. I sure hope so!

For those of you who need more battery check out this link:
    http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/basi16ht421.htm

Seido’s been making batteries and cases starting back when the Treo was real popular. No I don’t work for them have purchased from them and have been pleased. I’ve asked them if they are developing a dock but they don’t have anything yet. They’re just getting going with the myTouch 4G stuff so it may be a while.

  • SeeUMe

Guess what you don’t have to go to the stores on this one. Just type “bluetooth dock” in the seach criteria and it will be available as a purchaseable accessory! Horray!

  • jmiah003

I purchased this dock. After using it for a couple of months, I loved it and hated it. The hate is mostly because it doesn’t work any more. The connector where I plug in the usb cable doesn’t match up anymore and no power gets to the phone. It was next to impossible to seat the phone correctly at first, but I got better at it. Lack of access to the volume controls is as boneheaded as boneheaded gets. There is a 3.5 jack on the back of the charger so you can plug in earphones, but you’ve got no volume control. It feels like a quality product, but after dropping $50 on it, I’m looking for another. Ouch.

can i sink the the swivel with my radio?

  • Johnnquiles94

Does it connects with the three copper dots or the port
