Dell Ignoring Customer Inquiries On Dell Venue Pro?

Details regarding the whereabouts of the Dell Venue Pro seem sketchy at best if you take a glance at the #dellvenuepro Twitter stream or the official Dell support forums. As seems to be a common theme among handset manufacturers these days, according to these Twitter folk Dell is but ignoring customer requests regarding the status of their update. Those attempting phone call inquiries into Dell Customer Care have turned up 11 different answers for every 10 questions. Needless to say those who ordered the devices with estimated delivery dates in the next few days have received no indication their devices have shipped, never mind are ready for delivery.

We pinged the very same account on Twitter other users have attempted and we’ll update this post when we hear back. If you are one of the frustrated bunch attempting to get information from Dell sound off below and let us know how it’s going!

why would anyone get a wp7?

        Tell me the benefits.
Android has already two years of advantage over Wp7!

          No trolling!!!

        • Anonymous

          how is that trolling?

        • Steve Jobless

If it’s the years that make a phone more beneficial then get and iPhone or a HD2. The Nexus S is So advanced that it is to advanced for HSPA+ I suppose.

        • Anonymous

Same to wp7, they are ALL too advanced to carry HSPA+ and a couple of decent games and apps.

        • Lee

if thats the case then screw iPhone and Android, get a WM6.5

    • xer21

Well I am still waiting to hear anything from the Microsoft store about a replacement for my original purchase on November 8th.. Holly cow over a month and still no working unit. I even ordered one direct from Dell hoping that I might get that faster but not it seems that they have no idea when they will ship these things. Last check with the MS store and they still have no idea when they will see any units to replace the original problem units they sold over a month ago.

Maybe Dell should stick to computers..

    • http://twitter.com/domineus Malcolm Williams

I have the dell xt and xt2. Their support is just as bad if not worse because I was one of the unlucky people that got dead parts from dell

  • flumdinger

Could it be possible that they would release no info, making sure the phone gets no fanfare, thus keeping all those hardware problems under wraps?

    • http://twitter.com/domineus Malcolm Williams

      is it possible heck yes

  • Fixxx52

I think its too soon to assume something…I bought one and was promised a shipment date of the 21rst so its too early to assume anything.

    • Cooper

Nope. Had a delivery date of 12/14. It has been changed now to 1/5/2011.

  • http://twitter.com/gshocker GShocker

Well there we go.. My Dell order was just updated from arriving tomorrow to arriving on 1/5/2011. Guess no one will be getting this phone this year. Bummer as I really liked it.. Should have just kept the first unit with the problems and had them replace it when they got them fixed. Oh well..

    • Cooper

      Same here. Serioiusly pissed.

Besides the fact that dell will lose customers just for their sh*tty customer service with this entire launch, their about to lose a lot of sales to the nexus s.

      • Anonymous

probably too big for him, not for me, its too small, but I hate wp after the HD2

        • Lee

Thats a totally different phone! Thats like comparing an Android phone to WM7.

Very frustrated with the dell venue pro launch
It’s bad enough that one support agent says something along the lines of
    there is a missing part
even worse when the supervisor says it

Okay that’s fine actually if there is a missing part, alright. Cool. But it is a preassembeld phone! When I say what part could be missing from a preassembled device the manager changes story and says you’re right oh its because of demand. I said you just lied to me you know that…

Then he said we emailed you about the delay. I said funny what time was the email sent? Oh about an hour ago. I said you’re a liar. I am in my email right now. Anytime dell sends me anything, it’s been immediate, I’ve been dealing with dell for the greater part of 10 years (since I was 15) and even when the net and email was in its infancy any dealing with dell regarding cancellation or delay is immediate. I further asked if the order was delayed why isn’t it on the order status page?

The supervisor said the order status page takes time to update, about 24 hours to update. I said really? Because when my last dell order was cancelled, the cancellation was immediate. When my items are delayed, it is immediate (or relatively immediate, not some 24 hour crock and bull****)

Then he said the order status page does not reflect changes that quickly. I said according to that page, it is still in production. He said it may not be true and the EDT is not to be taken literally. I said really? Because I’m reading the dell policy website and it says – etc

I said so far, that’s 3 lies you have told me and you haven’t given me your name, and that is not how a customer service representative is supposed to act. So you’ve been wrong all across the board, and you still haven’t addressed my concern regarding the breakdown in communication between the consumer and the customer service agent and you’re a supervisor.

He forwarded me to an idiot. An honest idiot and I say this because he went immediately through the prompt as if my computer had an issue, never told me his name either, and called me mam. I said I am not going to hang up on you, you will either give me your name or you will redirect me. I worked in customer service, if you are forwarded to someone in a chain, the people that forwards you is annotated during the span of the conversation just in case there are some issues that occur. So I have 3 supports agents (apparently 2 supervisors) that have been insulting.

Finally after all that I was given a woman that totally gave me what I was asking for. And gave me all of the names of the people that royally messed up on dell tech support. I have all their names and I am going to be sending dell a very nasty email and reporting this experience to as far as I can go.

    • buckeyeT32

Typical irate customer. Can you blame the csr’s/sups/managers? Dell has no clue whats going on, and you probably won’t get a better answer from HQ. These agents are only giving you information they have available. Dell is in chaos with this product.

      • Snows777

typical irate? he seemed pretty rational to me.

  • Troll + Zombie = Trombie

I’m one of those people. Emailed Dell and no reply, no replies in the forum. I think I might get an HD7 instead. I wanted a physical keyboard, but I don’t want to wait.

    • http://twitter.com/chaoscentral John Pisano

If it’s any consolation, I recently got the HD7 after I had the Vibrant, this phone’s keyboard is the only software keyboard I have used where there is 100% no lag, and the key presses are never missed. I am loving this phone :D

  • Anonymous

that’s why i cancelled my order…it said est. delivery of the 28th!

  • Anonymous

My estimated delivery date is 12/30 (I ordered on the 6th). If the earlier orders are being pushed back until Jan 5th and 6th I would hate to see what mine will be pushed back to. I am more than likely going to cancel the order and pick up the HD7 for now. At least I know what I am giving up with the HD7 but with the Venue Pro even if it makes the January delivery date there is no telling what problems they might still have which would lead to further delays with replacements.

    • Snows777

nonono don’t do that. You’re better off waiting for a new WP7 phone to come out than investing in HTC’s out of date LCD display tech. OLED display or bust.

  • Chatter

Ignoring customer queries gives the impression that there is “something to hide”. There may be nothing sinister going on and it could just be bad customer service BUT it still reflects poorly on Dell and the phone. IF this phone becomes a hit, then most people will quickly forget and move on but that just raises the stakes for Dell. Good luck folks!

  • RJC

Mine was delayed as well. Was supposed to be delivered tomorrow and was emailed last night with a new ship date of 1/6/2011. I have canceled my order and will get the Nexus S on Thursday.

    • SugarMouth

Great Idea! I’d do the same thing!

LOL… my guess is the demand for that one will be higher and dell will screw up that launch just as bad if not worse

I ordered on the 1st and I received a delay message for expected delivery on Jan 6th. I’m not going to cancel unless I see something else worth purchasing on T-Mobile. I’m currently on AT&T. I don’t want Android because a lot of people have it already, time for something new. I’m going to be patient, this phone will come eventually…

    • Steve Jobless

      You and I are soul-mates.

  • Jonathan3579

Well seeing as how this phone isn’t on this list… People should just go vote for the myTouch 4G and show their love for T-Mobile. :)

I am “ONE OF THOSE EXTREMELY frustrated bunch of Dell Venue Pro customers. I ordered the phone on the 2nd of December with a rep. who “absolutely guaranteed” that I would be receiving the phone on my doorstep on Dec. 15th. That it would be shipped on the 11th or 12th. He absolutely “KNEW” that would be the case. I then paid for the phone, and today, as I expected, they sent me an e-mail saying the phone would not even BE SHIPPED until Jan. 6th…which means I wont be getting the phone till the middle of Jan.
Needless to say I am extremely frustrated, and I have spoken to dell, and like you wrote above, LITERALLY they are all clueless. I have spoken over the past 3 weeks to numerous reps. who all say the delivery date and shipping date is something completely different. And the reason I keep calling in, is because I am hoping to hear what I want to hear…(stupid, I know…) but I keep calling waiting to hear that the other 20 reps didn’t know what they were talking about, and that the phone is REALLY shipping “TODAY”…but of course they are all clueless and constantly disagreeing with one another.
Now the phone isn’t shipping till the end of the 1st week in Jan. (if even THAT’s correct).
Don’t bother calling, you’ll just end up NOT hearing anything that you want to hear…

Given how the chief at the Dell Mobile division Ron Garriques has resigned, and the whole division has been folded, it should be obvious that the Dell Venue Pro is probably the last unicorn from Dell for some time.

Garriques will stay in Dell until the end of January, probably to ensure the phone to be shipped to customers, and he will jump the sinking ship himself, while still getting paid millions for driving the boat into an iceberg.

Since Dell had already shipped Dell Streak in a similar manner with numerous delays during the past summer, with most customers still not getting the promised Android 2.2 update (now probably 2.3, delayed til January as well), I do wonder if Dell Venue Pro customers will ever get their updates and fixes either.

They had a good hardware design and engineering team, but it seems they suck at manufacturing, parts sourcing, software updating, marketing, customer relations and basically poor management.

It seems that the hardware design team knew that the mismanagement would be happening, and they leaked the documents early this year to show what they had done before their department folds.

  • luvlydove

I ordered my dell venue pro on 11/30 & it is still showing a delivery date of 12/16…I seriously doubt that’s going to happen after reading about everyone else’s delays. This is not a first for me. I ordered a computer from Dell in mid Sept & it was delayed 5 times before I cancelled it. And it took 2 more months before they credited my account. I paid full price for the dell venue pro & just noticed that it has not been charged to my checking account. There goes my sons Christmas gift. I really wanted to get him this phone now that he has just returned from Iraq )= Maybe he will accept a picture of it and an IOU.

Coming from a guy named gammer2010 I figured you’d be more supportive of a phone with xbox integration. Maybe you’re a wiiFit gamer? I think it’s obvious Dell did not expect as much interest in the phone as they are receiving which is promising but disappointing. Maybe his name was grammar2010??

I am going to pull the plug and buy this phone tomorrow, full price, and get a cheaper monthly plan from t-mobile.
All (most) of the glitches, malfunctions, hardware-software issues should be resolved. It i a solid phone and from review videos is awesome. What sold me is the Gorilla Glass-Amoled screen and Simplified and clear setup of the tiles. I prefer this to what appears to me on my Android phone is clutter, Yes I am over 50. But I still will enjoy the Netflix as well as the more readable sports, weather, news, and stock tiles/pages.

Almost ordered it today…they told me I would not receive the Dell Venue Pro 16gb until March… A better phone should be on the market and AVAILABLE by then.
