Best Buy Experiencing Troubles Activating New T-Mobile Lines?

Word coming in from BGR is that Best Buy is currently experiencing troubles activating new T-Mobile lines. According to BGR, Best Buy’s new line activation system for T-Mobile has been down for almost a week. Because of this, if you want to purchase a Nexus S (or other T-Mobile handsets), you will be forced to pay the full retail price (that is, if you really really want it that badly). We’re unsure whether this is a nationwide issue or limited to certain areas. Best Buy has yet to comment on the issues. For those that have tried to purchase a Nexus S or any other T-Mobile handset with new service at Best Buy, have you experienced any troubles? Let us know in the comments!

I was there at 8 AM on launch day and a T-Mo rep. was on-hand at my non-T-Mo carrying Best Buy store to answer questions. They had a similar issue with one of the other four people in line who wanted to add a line and, humorously, the T-Mo rep. talked the guy in to converting to Even More Plus and buying the phone outright. That’s is what everyone *should* do, anyway, but maths are hard for some people, I know.

I don’t understand why it’s so hard for people to total the difference between EMP and EM plans over 24 months and then weigh that against their CC interest rate if they don’t have the cash on-hand. Obviously it was, though, because the plans are now “ask only” via the customer service department.

Cause no one wants to pay 400+ dollars on a phone. That, and most people are lazy.

You have to understand, some customers are on “grandfathered plan” which means EM+ is not cheaper for them.. the “grandfathered plan” actually is, like myself..

To extend contract and pay $199 DOES make sense for many with grandfathered plans – my total, including unlimited data, is just $5 more a month than EMP, the $199 plus $120 extra over two years is quite a bit less than full price.

Melon has the right answer. Many TMobile customers don’t pay the advertised rates for their plans. I don’t think it is too uncommon for long time customers to receive a $10/month discount over standard rates, which makes switching to non-contract a bad deal.

I just dont understand where this report is coming from. One store has issues activating and it becomes national news?

Listen, ask ANY BBYM employee, BEAST is the worst program ever, and when it does work, it may crash on you at the end of the activation.

Sounds like this reporting store is just being lazy, head on over to Florida, our T-mobile carrying store is activating Nexus S’s no problem, all day.

YES. I went to BestBuy in Reston, VA on Tuesday morning and they couldn’t sell me the Galaxy S as a upgrade. The two reps working there were clueless on how to activate a tmobile line and they told me i had to pay full retail. I walked out and ordered it online.

Did the store you went into actually CARRY T-Mobile?

If not, then you guys have to stop complaining, the only thing we can do is ship it to you, or sell it to you full price.

We cant upgrade T-mobile customers instore if we do not carry T-mobile as one of the 3 carriers

      BBYM Instant Ship FTW

No he didn’t. He went to the BB that doesn’t carry T-Mobile and threw a tantrum.

Read his post again you Idiot.

I upgraded my contract for a Nexus S.
Had it for 7 disappointing days and returned it reversing the contract.
Picked up a MyTouch 4G on Craigslist, its a much better phone.
