Sprint Claims To Be Only “True” 4G Network, They Also Have Big Pipes

If Sprint was hoping to steer the conversation back in their direction with this, the latest entrance in the “4G” argument, they should have tried harder.  This video, which offers up a mini-tutorial on how Sprint 4G works as well as some digs at the competition, effectively does neither very well.  All I learned from this video is that Sprint apparently has a larger pipe than everyone else.

Claiming that “other carriers might claim to have a 4G network, but right now Sprint is the only national carrier with a true 4G network,” does little more than ask for a response from the competition.  According to the ITU, not a single carrier in the US currently meets the global standard for an accepted 4G network, T-Mobile included.  So it’s all about marketing then and who can “one up” the competition.  While T-Mobile and Verizon have both come out swinging against AT&T, in the end consumers are only going to be more confused.  Consumer watchdog groups aren’t likely to stand idly by as plenty of voices claim false and misleading advertising and lawsuits are expected to happen even none have been filed.  At one point or another, someone is going to try and let the courts decide what is right and proper here.

In the meantime, the argument should be about who has the fastest network today, not 12 months from now but today.  In that regard, T-Mobile wins hands down. While their 4G marketing continues for the foreseeable future, the competition, especially Verizon, is likely to step up attacks and eventually T-Mobile will be in their crosshairs.  Before that happens, I’ll continue to enjoy using for HD7’s voice and data at the same time.  Can you hear that now?

Sprint may have 4g network, but you need to pay extra for it, at t-mobile you dont, and even at 3g you get great speeds.

They do have big pipes. They have to for what they’re smoking.

Sprint has big that go down the tube the moment you try to compare their speed against TMobile HSPA+.

On a good day (no rain or snow) you might get 4mpbs download on Sprint through 3G. I have yet to see a device of theirs do better anywhere!. If it rains or snows, forget anything over 1mbps. On wifi they will get up to 6mpbs like shown on that video.

Now HSPA+ will always provide you at least 4mbps and if you have a HSPA+ device you will get up to 10mbps.

ROFL, Sprint is not even close to 4G… SPRINT.. read the definition or 4G from Wikipedia.

      ……
      Requirements

This article uses 4G to refer to IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced), as defined by ITU-R.

An IMT-Advanced cellular system must have target peak data rates of up to approximately 100 Mbit/s for high mobility such as mobile access and up to approximately 1 Gbit/s for low mobility such as nomadic/local wireless access, according to the ITU requirements. Scalable bandwidths up to at least 40 MHz should be provided.[5][6]

      …..

You don’t even come close!!! TMob has you beat hands down.. they arent 4G either, but they provide a service that resembles it better than you do and in a lot more places too!!!….. so Please Sprint.. put up or shut up!

i thing that this speed race is so dumb i thing that after 30 down the human mind wont see the differences between 30 and 100 unless your looking for it…. on a speed test app my computer is getting like 25 down and my ps3 is getting 15 down and i load 1080p videos with doby digital surround sound on my ps3 i have like a 10 sec wait time b4 it plays and then i watch the whole movie with no buffering i believe that after 30down we cant really see the differences and it will be all we really need

Sorry, currently NONE of any carriers has “true 4G (LTE-A or WiMax 2)” network until the mid of the next decade, so they’re all tied.
T-Mobile has “advanced 3G (HSPA+)” network, and it’s 100% backward-compatible with old school basic UMTS phones (nokia 3555, 6263, samsung T639, T819), and the HSPA+ network still has a lot of rooms to grow, then T-Mobile has enough time to prepare and deploy LTE-A network and forget about LTE.

SPRINT: “THE INTERNET IS A SERIES OF TUBES”

All I know is, I have speedy ‘Net every single place I go now with Sprint. TMo’s network was a total letdown everywhere except the huge cities. So TMo can say what they want, but the competition is eating their network for lunch.

there is no current True 4G network in the U.S.A. -4G is Defined as 1Gbps (1024MBPS) Data speeds. Sprints limited to 14mbs per second data, so it is not 4G rather pre 4G or just fast 3G. it is just simply a fast 3G network. as so is tmobiles. Sprint calling there 3G wimax network 4G is very misleading, tmobiles hspa+ network is faster but it doesnt mean its 4G either. no one has true 4G yet. TRUE 4G = 1024 Mbps Data download, 512 Mbps Upload. and not just the speed but other things like security and more advanced features then 3G. just shows you how marketing and and bigger numbers fool dumb people.

    4G = must provide 100mbps
peak (high) 1024 mbps per second.

i bought my sprint evo because the commercial said 4 g and I get my phone and there is no 4g in my area . The commercial does not say check to see if 4g is available in your area nor did the sales rep from Sprint say anything about it when selling me the phone . This is straight up FALSE ADVERTISING ! We need to file a lawsuits here ! Some please contact me about proceeding with this . I now pay $10 extra a month for no 4g

its funny how sprint is claiming their 4G is the only true 4G network when on 1:40 that Evo is clearly running on wifi…..shame on them
