I agree with you a little. T-Mo hasn’t really had a “game changer” since the G1. Although the Vibrant is coming soon it’s not near the level of an iPhone 4 or Evo even Droid X. I do agree with Tmoforthewin though.

I used this phone today, I was a bit disappointed. Back cover is flimsy and very difficult to remove. once removed it leaves a stress mark in the plastic and won’t seat flush. This held true with 3 different ones tryed.The rear trackpad (though an awesome idea) was delayed and needs some refinement. When the trackpad was reacting smoothly it was way too sensitive, and selected on its own while scrolling. Screen resolution and camera are not too crisp colors look dull. Web browsing was pretty smooth and the built in flash player did a decent job. The keypad is pretty decent in size the phone is easy to use. In all honesty the phone was made to be affordable and it shows. I don’t hate the charm but there are better alternative imo…

The Charm sounds absolutely tiny, like a slightly taller (but thinner!) Flipout.

And I’m digging the two color options (black and purple, bronze and green).

I could see myself with this phone. Touchscreen and keyboard, with no finicky sliders. : )

Not everybody needs, or wants, a $600 superphone. I think T-Mobile was totally right to pick this one up. I think it will be more popular than either CLIQ.
