I don’t see what’s the deal with smartphones. I’ve used many european nokia and sony ericsson devices and the most of them had smartphone features like pc pim sync, gps, mp3 player, good browser, document viewer,etc.

I’m looking forward replacing my trusty/tough Symbian phone from 2001 with the E73 (variant of the E72 release 1 year ago?) or the Nokia C5/E5 (introduced this month).

It’s too bad TMo didn’t bite on the E5, but we all do like TMo’s penchant for value and can appreciate them choosing the E73 if it is more affordable than the mySlide (device and data plan).

The Nuron is a good idea. I almost thought of it, but think the E73 slim form factor better replaces my 9 yr old Symbian. (I will upgrade my G1 to a Emerald or mySlide in good time. Yes i have multiple phones.)

Q: Anybody here know what the differences are between the Nokia E72 and E73?
I cannot find any information on the E73.
Thoughts on the C5 and E5 also welcomed.

So basically you speak for the rest of the world? Apparently you don’t know what an app is if you claim you don’t use them. So I’ll give you a breakdown. An app is short for application. The web browser you use on any platform is an app. Using Gmail on Android. I usually use the Gmail app. Playing music on any OS requires a media player. Media players are apps. Just because it came with the phone doesn’t make it not an app. Not to mention most of the apps I downloaded from the Market were free anyway. ‘Live without’ is a strong word, I could probably ‘live without’ a data plan that doesn’t mean I want to. And your tax analogy is way off. Monthly plan money and app store money don’t go to the same place.

But what I’m challenging is that there is only a market for dedicated app stores in the US…thats actually wrong.

Yeah I definitely know what an app is. I have worked for T-Mobile for 5+ years. Smartphone OS’ have apps and app stores because it’s a new way to add revenue to already expensive cell phone plans and devices. It’s like a sales tax…the government already taxed your income but then they tax what you’re buying too. It’s sneaky added revenue that you just don’t think about because it’s not all put in the paycheck at once.

Even though my cell phone bill is paid free and clear, I refuse to pay for any app and I live my life perfectly fine without them. What app can’t you live without? I have used android, apple, winmo, bb, symbian, sidekick…etc. I can’t remember one I need to do my job/live my life today. And I can remember all of them.
