BlackBerry Pearl 3G Passes FCC In T-Mobile Friendly Bands

While the current rumor mill tells us the BlackBerry Pearl 3G won’t be showing up in T-Mobile land anytime soon, you might be able to find a way to enjoy BlackBerry 3G goodness. Thanks to the boys at Engadget, word has come forth that the FCC has given its blessing to a variant of the Pearl 3G with T-Mobile friendly frequencies. It’s entirely possible that this phone has passed the FCC as it might be joining up on a carrier over with our neighbors to the north. Even if that is the case, eBay is always your friend and you will likely be able to enjoy all the goodies that the BlackBerry Pearl 3G has to offer while enjoying Magenta love. Time will tell.

Really? Cant find a phone that out performs my 9700. Not even the HD2. I have all the android devices for T-Mo minus the nexus and I still go back to the 9700. Then again I am basing this all on android 1.5 and 1.6. I think the MTS might bring me back to android with the keypad, optical track pad and 2.1?

I AGREE. I LOVE MY 9700. I’VE HAD EVERYTHING FROM WINDOWS MOBILE TO ANDROID AND EVEN AN IPHONE AND NOTHING SURPASSES MY BB. I HAD THE HD2 FOR 2 WEEKS AND WENT AND GAVE IT BACK. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THE HD2 IS THE SCREEN SIZE. IT’S HORRIBLE FOR EMAIL. I WOULD’NT TRADE MY BB9700 FOR ANYTHING!

    Lucky,

How are we “stuck with it”? The article clearly say we aren’t getting it.

    • Smarter then this guy

No it doesn’t it just explains it will be available from multiple sources in the case that it doesn’t come to Tmo

  • Carl

You said minus the Nexus one, that’s the only other phone that’s with T-Mobile that has a 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor, lol.

Last time I checked, the US FCC did not approve Canadian devices.

You do realize its predicted not to come right??

  • Strange

It seems strange to me that none of the American carriers have announced they will carry the phone. While it makes sense that T-Mobile might pass on the phone (which I believe would be a mistake as I think many 8100 series users, including my wife, would love to upgrade) it simply does not make sense for all the carriers to pass on it. That would be a huge shot in the foot to RIM. In fact, I think T-Mobile would likely carry a small quantity of them just to maintain a positive relationship with RIM.
