Stopped in to a retail location over the weekend, where I got to ply around with this new phone :) I also got a little information that they will be changing signage in the window on the 23rd for an upcoming event on the 24th! Doesn’t take much to put one and one together :) Let’s just hope they do something about thier plan prices!!

I guess now that you’ve put it that way, it actually makes sense with the advertising. It’s not really a game changer like the Iphone was and not really a newer OS like the Droid. I’d never really heard of the original HD phone that came prior so that should tell me something. They’re probably assuming that whoever is going to buy it already knows about it and if they get additional sales through word of mouth, even better.

Even thought people interpreted my post as dissing the HD2 (I was not, especially since I am getting one) I continue to believe that T-Mobile does NOT consider the HD2 debut as that big a deal.

It’s kind of a specialty item, not something that would be appealing to the mass market.

I mean, look at the posts in here and elsewhere:

“It’s too big.”

“It does not have Android.”

“It’s too expensive.”

“it’s outdated.”

“It’s not a big deal, it’s been out since last year.”

“It can’t be upgraded to MS’s new operating system.”

The list goes on and on.

Mainly, however, I suspect T-Mo is putting its limited advertising budget into the holiday debut of the new Windows Phones 7 Series.

And I don’t care what anyone says, debuting a phone in March? Who the hell thinks of buying phones in March, about three weeks before tax time.

March-April are the absolute worst time to debut extravagant products (say what you will, one does not buy an HD2 to make phone calls. A $30 Net10 prepaid like I just bought my parents will do that. And that phone came with 300 minutes included in the price!

I visited my local T-Mo store today. They got the full roll-out info on the HD2 yesterday from corporate via email link. My sales guy swung the monitor around so I could get a look. It listed all the software selling points (Blockbuster, MobiTV, B&N eReader, etc), the increased ROM and RAM for the US, etc. Sample phones will be arriving in stores no later than next Wed. the 17th, and all store staff feature training must be completed by March 24.

Sure sounds like a 24th rollout to me. He’s calling me as soon as he gets a display unit so I can get a feel for it.

Just to let you guys know.I went down to the local store and asked if the had the demo for the hd2.I got to play with it and to put it in one word….IT’S SICK.
So worth the money….
