Further Confirmation Of A March 24th Release For The HD2

tmo_hd2_march

Who wants more T-Mobile HTC HD2 news? Thanks to another awesome tipster, we’ve got further confirmation supporting a March 24th release date. The above document reveals an upcoming Products and Services call Magenta has scheduled for discussing “exciting new products with employees”. One of the products that will be discussed is the HTC HD2. The call dates range from March 2nd to March 10th, so the March 24th release date we previously saw on the leaked T-Mobile retail slide seems more and more likely! Stay tuned for more info, and don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments!

Thanks tmoninja!

When it comes out, it’s mine.

    • ItsMichaelNotMike

Sorry, I hear they are releasing only one, as a beta unit to see how it goes. A

T-Mo just e-mailed me to say it’s mine. Sorry for your loss.

      • Wilma Flintstone

Oops, I must’ve emailed the wrong person when I sent that, I was actually trying to email myself so I wouldn’t forget the link. Sorry for the confusion but the only one coming out is already mine. Could I interest you in a Cliq XT instead? HAAA!!! :P

  • http://twitter.com/russell_clark Russ Clark

Dudes, it was already announced OFFICIALLY by HTC that it will be coming out next month. We don’t need more evidence.

    • Twitch110

Yeah, i’m pretty sure this is like the 10th time it’s been “confirmed”. I’m feeling pretty confident it’s going to happen on the 24th. I’ll be expecting at least five more confirmations though.

      • manus

If it doesnt can i laugh at you guys

      • Twitch110

I would support such behavior. However, more posts of date confirmations i cannot.

  • Lebron1189

    Its Mine!!

    • ItsMichaelNotMike

Disagree, it’s good to know that the debut date is in fact on track. As you know, many times dates change, for one reason or another (look at MS and the date for WinMo 7 to debut).

So the more confirmation that steps are being taken for the March date, the better for us who hate delays.

      • Bobomo

        Reply fail!

  • LipGloss712

Man! I would totally get this phone if it was an Android device. Looks so damn nice!

  • Mockerfab4

So does this mean between 3/2-3/10 I should call Tmo Cust Svc and bug them about the price of this sucker?

Hopefully the price will be released by then, so that eager fans who want to get their hot little hands on this WM device won’t flood their lines. ;)

  • sorandkairi

I was speaking with a store manager about this samething last night! He said, now take this with a grain of salt that this “training” will be about pricing that will be available for the device and that the device should be $249.00 new activation/ upgrade and $549.00 “unlock”! Either way I’m getting 1!

    • Mockerfab4

I hope that’s true! That’s what I was hoping for with the non-contract price.

Hopefully in this training an early sell/pre-order date will be available for current customers! It would be nice to give current customers a reward for being patient all these years waiting for Tmo to give us a hot new phone! ;)

      • sorandkairi

I’m hoping that he was well informed, not that i am doubting his word. He also told me, again this is actually hard to believe, that Tmobile was indeed getting the Iphone in the summer of this year. Now ppl may hate it or love it but clearly it would be a money maker for Tmobile USA. Whether it is a new Iphone or the 3Gs is what he didnt know. Like i said i’m putting some faith in this guy. The fact that he knew what i was talking about when i was referring to these phones is confirmation enough for me. Most of the other sales associates at that store are non-knowledgeable about forth coming products!

    • JD

No way. This phone will be anywhere from &299 to $399 on contract and $649 to $699 unsubsidized.
And, no way on the iphone either. Ain’t gonna happen.

      • heep

anyone called you a douche-bag, yet?

  • Cybersedan

If those prices turn out to be true, this phone will sell like hot cakes.

  • ahh

    Oh yeah definitely cooping

  • tato22

its gona be a high price look at the phone so ya get ready to spend that money

  • SteveG1

Just give me my damn HD2!

  • Brent

The HD2 looks great, but how about they announce the Motoroi as well?

    • randall

theres been no actual confirmation that the Motoroi is coming to TMO.I hope it is,its the phone I really want, but if 249 on the hd2 is true, ill jump all over it

  • John

Mobile web – pay per use
    For prepaid customers???
If that’s the case even better news

    • GenesisDH

I hope you’re right. Prepaid needs a legit web option, and SK service doesn’t count as SKs are going the way of the dinosaur (because of MSFT’s Project Pink).

My second guess: they are going to do PPU mobile web like AT&T does. That would be a double edged sword, since there will be people who accidentally turn on the browser on his/her feature phone and get racked change for it… then the complaints on the ‘erroneous charges’ start. But, I’m sure there are some who want occasional un-walled access but not want the $10 monthly charge would like another option.

  • Ernest

Man still a month away :/

    But worth the wait :)

  • Bobomo

Since when has T-Mobile ever released a marquee device at what people consider a great price? Every time they release a device, people here are saying “I’ve heard it’s going to be !!!” and then when it comes out at the appropriate market price, they’re all disappointed. If this phone comes out any lower than $299, I’ll be shocked.

    • JD

I’d be pleasantly surprized if it’s under $349.

  • Oce

So, no pre-ordering this device like so many others?

    • SteveG1

Thats what I’m waiting on. If they open up pre-orders I am calling in ASAP. I can’t take it anymore.

  • Alex V

I was talking to a TMo rep who said they are giving them out to everybody for free. Of course take it with a grain of salt. or two.

    • sorandkairi

Using that logic, why are u on a blog site. Eveything on these sites is speculative. Now of this information is verified by tmobile yet, here u are!

      • sorandkairi

        everything and none …. sorry

      • Alex V

I think you missed the point of my sarcasm. I have not talked to anybody. I just think its funny that when someone posts that stuff that anybody would take them seriously. Yet I guess you thought I was being serious… so maybe i just refuted my own point. oh well.

      • sorandkairi

        @ Alev V

        It sounds like it!

  • Danny

Their is no way that this thing will be under 350. I mean come on the TP2 is or was 350 upgrade price like 2 months ago. The HD2 blows that thing away in all aspects.

    • Guerrilla

the tp2 was that much because it costs more to manufacture, due to the hardware keyboard. its a known fact that phones with physical keyboards cost more to manufacture than touch screen only phones. the hd2 does have a snapdragon processor, but its not a great deal more expensinve than the processor in the tp2. but bottom line is….a physical keyboard increases price.

  • ManoloDF

I wish they would confirm if it will have UMA or not.

  • Wilma Flintstone

OK!!! It’s confirmed for March 24th. We knew that five confirmations ago. We need Confirmation on the Price now.

    • pecoy

      exactly.
      we need price!

      • TmoNinja

When we know, you’ll know. =]

  • Steve

this is a bit off topic….but given all of the smartphones that Tmobile is launching lately are any of you concerned about bandwith issues with all of those smartphones running on the network?

Don’t get me wrong! I think it is great but I don’t want to see what happened to ATT’s network (courtesy of the iphone)happen to Tmobile’s. Most recently you have the CEO of RIM at the World Mobile Congress telling everyone how their is going to be a data crisis soon…..Now we’ve got the HD2, which is a beast of a multimedia phone coming on line on top of a slew of android phones :)

Does anyone, especially any Tmobile REPS on this board, have any info or thoughts on this topic? Can our network handle all of this traffic?

    Feedback would be appreciated!

    • Mockerfab4

Not really worried. Tmo is still the #4 carrier, but from what I hear, their network is comparable to ATT. And ATT is #1 or #2 (don’t remember). Tmo has a lot of catching up to do, and while I think this phone is great, lets face it, unless Tmo puts some serious marketing $$ to support this phone like Apple, ATT & VZW has, then people won’t be joining Tmo in droves and clogging up the network. I do think Tmo is heading in the direction to overtake Sprint though, if they continue with their current product offerings! :)

    • dsim91

Tmo is in the process of installing fiber to all their towers when that happens and they roll out hspa+ we will not have to worry about what happened to att happening to tmo they have built a 3g network to surpass all the competition

  • Oce

I think if they market and price this phone aggressively, it will be beyond tremendous; at least until the supersonic appears. ;-) Nexus 1 could have been big, but has been a major marketing flop; I blame it on Google.

    • Sgt. Cell

Agreed, if they want to make a splash, 250.00 and market it heavily.

  • David

I am thinking this will be $399 w/2 year contract…knowing Tmo

  • DJ LU

there is no freaking conformation!!!!! when t-mobile puts an official date of release, thats when it will come out damn It!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wmisbest

this device is going to be well over 300 for full upgrade and over 500 for those of us inbetween upgrades. hope they have an installment plan available for this one =)

  • Voodoo Child

    I can’t wait!

  • Todd

    I’m guessing 300 with contract…..700 without.

    • Wilma Flintstone

I’d be totally fine with that.

    • GenesisDH

I doubt it’ll be more expensive no-contract than the Nexus One with similar specs is. Anything above $550 sounds unlikely.

I do think it will cost about $300-350 on-contract, considering the current price of TP2 it will be succeeding.

  • dsim91

The hd2 will be priced lower then people are thinking tmo is going all in with this phone they need to pull in all the new customers they can and they can only do that with a low priced phone

  • dave

No windows 7 upgrade – no HD2 for me

    • Nobody cares

      that’s nice.

  • gargoyle999

It’s interesting that March 17th is being thrown around as a release date now. The above training dates would support that as well!

    • David

Are you saying that the training dates have been moved to reflect a March 17th release date?

      • gargoyle999

No. Just that the training dates are March 2,3,9,10. So those dates support a March 17th release as well. Last training session is March 10th, then release next week on March 17th. Just saying it would work.

  • Blacksheep427

I don’t care if this has WinMo, (or maybe I should say Win Phone).
This is some good news, here IMO. Thanks kickstar13 & tmoninja for keeping on top of this. Looks like I’ll be in line for the HD2 myself. And, by the way, everybody, it may actually be very good for us that T-Mobile is 4th right now. We get the HD2 with less competition; and then our 3G keeps rolling out. We shouldn’t be 4th too much longer. :D

Now, we need to hear prices. :B

  • El Bro

Any news how the HD2 compares with the Nexus One?
