Uh Oh, Windows Mobile 6.5 Release Delayed

oh_no_you_didnt

With Android, Blackberry and the iPhone getting all the attention lately it’s easy to forget Windows Mobile who paved the way for most of what we see today in the smartphone world. Originally our sources had pointed to a January 6th release date for Windows Mobile 6.5 for both the Touch Pro2 and Dash 3G. An email this afternoon indicates that we could be looking at a 2-3 week release date delay. Unfortunately our source can’t nail it down so at this point; we’re going back to square one until we can get some concrete info on a drop date. Sorry Windows Mobile fans, we’re not forgetting about you as the HTC HD2 looms large and frankly, I can’t wait to get my hands on that sucker. Can’t wait indeed.

….or you could do like i have so many times and get ENERGYROM offa http://www.xda-developers.com, stock 6.5 rom will prob suck anyway.

Honestly who didn’t see this coming? T-mobile pushes back system upgrades and phone launches literally 95% of the time.. nevertheless customers (especially those that bought the phone at full retail) shouldn’t have to use custom ROMs just to have access to the promised upgrade in a reasonable time frame.

Well that sucks… T-Mobile just loves to drop the ball. How hard can it be, the TP2 already has official 6.5 roms thru HTC (for the Europeans version) and of course AT&T has 6.5.

T-Mobile appearently does not take its customers seriously. What is so wrong with American carriers that things have to be delayed? AT&T delays MMS for months after the rest of the world gets it on their iPhones. European carriers (including T-Mobile) have had 6.5 for months now.

Well, T-Mobile delayed this phone and blocked out advertising for its precious Android phone (what was it, the mytouch?) and now it’s delaying the update for the phone until launch news for the Nexus One has died down a bit.

  • just some dude

They should just drop all win mobile devices, it sucks as a mobile OS.

  • UpYoursAssHole

omg just some dude you have no life FU and F android

  • dothack

5 comments for windows mobile?? damn, is the os really that dead? anyways, the only windows i use is windows 7 that frankly, after so many screw ups with vista, they finally got it right..other than that, office, windows mobile, ie, bing, wmp, the alternatives for these products are always better plus either cheaper or free..

No. It’s not dead. Windows Mobile users simply not visiting this blog as much as they did before.

Probably by now you should know the reason and why but in case you don’t know yet… This blog converted to Android fan blog instead of T-Mobile News and kind of every single post (even news) they have about Windows Mobile devices they try to some how trash Windows Mobile and even in this post you can feel it. Things like “it’s easy to forget Windows Mobile…” and etc.

This blog these days has vistors mostly like “Just Some Dude” which is just a fanboy with no knowledge. His posts tell a lot about him already no need to say more.

I know David these days trying to say this blog is not just Android fan blog and they will post about Windows Mobile as well but I think it’s kind of late to change that view anymore.

I just come here sometimes to check if there is any news about T-Mobile itself since not interested in anything related to Android.

      Well said, John.

What you fail to realize, where your logic falters is simply the volume of Android information that pertains to T-Mobile vs Windows Mobile lately. There is no comparison, there is simply more volume of Android info coming out lately and there is nothing I can do about that. Aside from that, Android simply draws more page views than Windows Mobile and there is nothing I can do about that. I’m tired of continuously saying I play favoritism when thats simply far from the truth. Your logic fails man, it really fails to take into account the volume of information. Windows Mobile fans haven’t abandoned the page, I see traffic stats, emails and you do not.

    Here’s the pickle…

My wife travels weekly to Maine as a PMP Director in the medical IT field. As of recently, her phone is starting to give her issues, mostly call quality. Nothing else was added, nothing removed as far as programs.

Because of the protection warranty, it says in contract that I cannot touch the ROM as it would void the warranty.

She will not go into a BB9700 because she wants touch screen. Android takes too many 3rd party apps just to sync with her Calendar and Outlook that I would deem it as security risks.

Having paid full pop for the phone back in August, you’d think that the ROM would have been here with in 2-3 months.

Status quo is so sexy…bring it Cathrine Zeta-Jones

While I have been using 6.5 since it released in the EU ROM and I have tried several custom ROMs. I would at least like the opportunity to try out the stock ROM and if nothing else have it available as a backup for warranty purposes.

While I have been using 6.5 since it was released in the EU ROM, it would be nice to have a stock ROM to fall back on for warranty purposes. I would also at least like the opportunity to try it out, even if I do not stick with it.
