Cincinnati-skyline-from-kentucky-shore-night

Finally, Cincinnati residents, you can stop wondering when T-Mobile will grace you with all the goodness that is 3G service. December 10th is the day, that’s right this Thursday is the big day for Cincinnati T-Mobile customers who have been waiting so very very patiently. Not to be outdone however, are residents of Savannah, GA who can expect 3G services starting today!! Fort Wayne, Indiana residents, your wait ends Wednesday, December 9th and finally, Fort Collins, Co, Louisville, KY, and Longview and Tyler Texas all go live this Friday, December 11th. That’s all for now but we know T-Mobile is working toward that 200 million POP goal by the end of the month and with these launches, and currently hits 180 million so they have plenty of work to do before year’s end!

  • timmyjoe42

    Hallelujah.
Now I will need to turn off 3G on my Cliq to save the battery, lol.

    • phoneking13

Or wait for that supposed OTA update that’s supposedly going to help battery life on the device…. ;)

  • phoneking13

    BOUT FREAKIN TIME!!!! :D

Hopefully this will expand to Middletown….

  • justme

I’ll be watching and waiting on the 11th for Louisville to go 3g. It will be the deciding factor on whether I stay or go w/ Tmo. Don’t fail me now, Magenta!

  • Sanjay

LOUISVILLE, YAAAAAAAY! I’m so excited, really. Thanks for posting. At least now I know. I want to see T-mobile kick ass. I finally switched to the Even More Plus family plan. Not really saving much but I’m going from 1000 to 1500 minutes (I never really went over 1000 but partly because I restricted minutes on other phones) so that is a gain. Now when is the HTC HD with snapdragon coming out. I like my Touch Pro 2, but if it breaks I want the next step up. 1 Ghz processor sounds good.

    • Sanjay

I am so excited that I had to respond to my own post.

      • http://unkzdomain.com Unk

Haha yaaaaaaay! Louisville 3G! I’m so excited that I responded to your post too.

  • Sanjay

I am so looking forward to 3G in Louisville, that I had to say it again, and again, and again.

  • phoneking13

hmmm I didn’t know there were that many T-Mobile customers in Louisville….. interesting. ;)

  • Jim

Hope they turn on the space between Dayton & Cincinnati when they turn Cincinnati on.

    • phoneking13

Me too…. Hope Middletown is in that equation…..

    • phoneking13

Me too…. Hope Middletown is in that equation…..

  • kershon

Thank God somebody finally got a handle on the light up dates for Cinci and Louisville. Now the fine residents of those fine citys can stop whining and complainiing. Hooray! Just kidding folks. (not really) lol

    • phoneking13

      lol you got jokes.

    • bryant

      I agree!!! LOL

    • timmyjoe42

      You so funny!

  • Dexter

How about up here in Richmond, IN? Has anyone heard anything?

  • DmdFreak

These announcements normally say to check the T-Mobile map for 3G coverage (It didn’t this time) But the map always looks the same for me. Doesn’t seem to ever update. I would like to see how things are looking around my area to get an idea if it is closing in around me yet :)

    • jaymax

Agreed, the TMO maps seems woefully out of date. It’s also clunky…

  • RuleNumber1

If Louisville goes live on Friday, I will eat CTW’s hat.

  • chzhed

oh man, what do we have to do to get Madison, WI some love… i’d jump back to TMO in a heartbeat.

  • RuleNumber1

If Louisville goes live this Friday, I will eat CTW’s hat.

    • timmyjoe42

We heard you the first time. ;)

      Who is CTW?

      • RuleNumber1

A “Creepy Tech Writer” I work with who always wears ridiculous hats. Several people I work with post here, so I figured they would see it. Plus, anyone who sees these person around town would instantly know CTW.

  • sleebus.jones

I find it hilarious that it was faster for me to go to a different city than to wait around in Cincy for 3G. Heck, I’m in this little podunk town in SE Washington and I’ve got 3G here, waaaay before Cincy got it. Weird.

    • Usman

No kidding… I’m originally from Cincy, but am studying in Toledo. I’ve had 3G here since the summer.

  • J

Savannah is not today. I’m not sure where it came from, but it was never scheduled for today. Very close but not quite accurate.

    • beepboop

when when when when when when?

      • J

        Check for it early tomorrow.

  • CZA

    Anything on Idaho?

  • WXman

I was told by a TMo store employee that LEXINGTON, KY will also go live this week sometime.

    • Kirbdaddy

      Man I hope so!!!!

  • Masrico

Hoooorrraaaaaaaaayyyyyy Finally someone heard sincere Cincinnati our prayers! Damn its about freaking time..

    • phoneking13

Must’ve been that call I made to the fcc lol…

  • phoneking13

Where’s Stacy Parr to update the list lol?

  • Masrico

Hold on, before I get too excited.. Where is this information from? Is it a trust-worthy contact?

  • timmyjoe42

If David is posting it, I’m sure it is credible.

    • Masrico

      Fair Enough, ill take it,…whoooooowowoowowowowowowowwoowwowo

  • missjuliebaby

I am so excited. Fort Wayne is finally getting 3G! I was tired of seeing everyone else in Indiana get it but us!

  • ctk

it’s nice that 3g is FINALLY coming to the ville.

unfortunately i’m using unlocked at&t devices that were exclusive to at&t (nokia 6555 and iphone 3g), so i doubt that i get any of that 3g goodness.

  • Mobilemoll

Louisville, KY!!!!! When I visit relatives I can have my 3g! Whoop-whoop! When I saw Cincinnati I just knew the ‘ville had to be on that list!

  • Sigh

    …..still no Jackson, MS. Un-freaking-believable.

  • jtomm

good times for louisville. i guess now i’ll have to cough up the dough to upgrade my phone and service…yea? hahahaha

  • PT

Bout time!!!!!!!!!!! been waiting for a long time for 3g to come to Cincy…

  • Mr. Stacy R. Parr

The TMO 3G coverage map is current as of mid-November. I don’t know why they don’t keep it more up to date, but there you go.

Provided that David’s source is correct, I read:

    December 7th = Savannah, GA
December 9th = Fort Wayne, IN
    December 10th = Cincinnati, OH
December 11th = Fort Collins, CO; Louisville, KY; and Longview and Tyler, TX

So, given that, 3 cities would gloriously drop off my list, and the 14 largest US cities with no TMO 3G would be:

    Tulsa, OK
    Lexington, KY
    Anchorage, AK
    Lincoln, NE
    Madison, WI
    Boise, ID
    Grand Rapids, MI
    Mobile, AL
    Little Rock, AR
    Fayetteville, NC
    Jackson, MS
    Tallahassee, FL
    Springfield, MO
    Sioux Falls, SD

(3G will probably come to Boise between March and May of next year.)

    • mmaxsooner

There’s parr. I think the key words in parrs assessment are…. Provided David’s source is correct. Don’t hate the 918 how bout that city on top of parrs list. Hope t-town is not as late as boise. Sorry for you parr:(

    • CZA

Agh, that long until Boise probably? Geez…

    • DAVID GARCIA

THANK GOD FINALLY SOMEONE ADRESSES THIS ISSUE
I WISH TMOBILE HAD 3G IN ARKANSAS
OR MOSTLY WEST BECAUSE I REALLY LOVE TMOBILE, STICK TO IT
BUT WOULD LIKE 3G FOR MY NEW BLACKBERRY BOLD 9700!

  • http://erin.nu Erin

My city was supposed to get it by the end of the year, but the year is almost over. Might have to wait until 2010.

    • Mr. Stacy R. Parr

Yes, as near as I can tell, the cities from the leaked 2009 3G list that still need 3G are:

      Little Rock, AR
      Merced, CA
      Redding, CA
      Evansville, IN
      Lexington, KY
      Grand Rapids, MI
      St. Cloud, MN
      Fayetteville, NC
      Greenville, NC
      Wilmington, NC
      Vineland, NJ
      Springfield, OH
      Erie, PA
      Reading, PA
      Victoria, TX
      Waco, TX

      • g_willi

Leave Cincy on that list. I won’t believe it until I see it.

      • mark925

Still waiting for Merced… Grrr… COME ON T-MOBILE!

      • http://erin.nu Erin

Yep, I’m in Erie, PA. *sigh*

      • phoneking13

Springfield Ohio should have 3G as far as I remember. it’s part of the Dayton market…

    • touchworks

Same here ….. but a TMO store rep told me that Dec 28th is the date provided to them by TMO. Meaning we will get it by Dec 28th .. So hope it works out for you too ….:)

    • phoneking13

Erin what city are you in?

  • g_willi

Yeah right. I’ll believe it when I see it. I was told July, then September, then end of September. Now December… whatever.

  • Barakuda

well…lets see what happens on friday…mabey 3g…mabey not,we will see (cross my fingers ) GO LOUISVILLE KY!!!
    signed: 1 cranky truck driver

  • Sherman

    Sherman, TX????????????????????

  • Trill

What many fail to realize is this is how all 3G services got it start it takes time and once it launches they go back and feel in those gaps so relax. It will get better and better overtime but until then suck it up or change carriers if your not happy.

    • Bill48105

I think the issue is that TMo is WAY behind with the rollouts & playing catch up. It’s tough to be patient when you’ve been waiting years aleady.

    • watbetch

Yes, when 3G does launch and it’s far from perfect they’ll be moaning about 3G coverage..

      • Bill48105

LOL come on watbetch you stole my line & ruined the surprise! :D

  • rulenumber1

The more I think about it, the more I think the information regarding louisville is pure shinnanigans. I say that, because cincy was mentioned in the post. Everyone knows that cincy is part of tmobiles plan to take over the US. I’ve detailed it in prevoius posts, so I won’t go into it, but the day cincy is turned will be the last day of civilization. So, if it happens this week, yay for cincy, boohoo for the human race!

    • phoneking13

ROFLMAO…. I did say that when Cincy got 3G hell would’ve froze over… well its extremely cold outside now, so I guess we’re both right. ;)

    • justme

No no no. The day Cinci gets it can be *almost* the last day. Louisville’s gotta have 24 hrs of 3g before the sun sets upon civalization. =)

  • http://www.3mobileonline.co.uk/ 3 mobile online

Hey , I am waiting for this :)

  • The Dude

So wait, TMobile invested $32million dollars updating the network infrastructure in Puerto Rico and 3G is not even anounced? So we have to wait till TMobile spends another bunch of millions on it to get it then? I mean sheeeesh! All the publicity they made and all the news reports on all the local newspapers for nothing!

  • Want2CBetter

Yea! Savannah, GA must be live now! We live outside of Savannah in Bluffton, SC and are now getting 3G!

    • Jim

Yep! Got my 3G here in Savannah!

  • DroidRC1

just looked at my phone and 3G!!! super fast!!…Fort Wayne,IN

  • Davcole

Here in Cincy and looking forward to turning on my phone tomorrow. I’m not surprised by the Thursday announcement as I noticed some of my data speeds on phone were getting almost instantaneous downloads, as if they were testing their data speeds, over the past 2 weeks. Looking forward to joining the rest of civilization on the 3g network tomorrow.

    • phoneking13

Where at in Cincy are you experiencing this? I’ll drive by that way tonight to check.

  • timmyjoe42

Savannah was two days late according to the schedule and today’s announcement.

    • timmyjoe42

Oh wait. People had it yesterday, but T-Mobile announced it today.

  • timmyjoe42

Oh wait, people had it yesterday, but T-Mobile only announced it today.

  • Mr. Stacy R. Parr

    Congrats to Savannah, Georgia! (-:

  • Andrew

Was doing some driving around today in the Cincinnati area and happened to do some network searches in the Milford, OH and Crestview Hills, KY vicinity on my 9700 and T-Mobile 3G came up. I was unable to register on 3G (it kept kicking me back to EDGE), but the network was visible and seemed to be covering a pretty large area. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

    • phoneking13

what does your phone say now? is it still on EDGE or 3G?

      • Andrew

I was testing when I was driving around…unfortunately I live in Blanchester and there won’t be any 3G here anytime soon. It just seems pretty credible for a 12/10 (or very soon launch) since I was able to see the network in several places. It would occur to me that they wouldn’t be broadcasting the network unless they were pretty close (of course as with anything T-Mobile I could be very wrong).

  • RelloPPC

Glad to say Cincinnati is now live on 3G… thanks Tmobile

  • dely

3g is live in Cincinnati. On it now!

  • justinhub2003

Yes Tmobile 3g is Cincy is indeed live here are my top my five speedtest results taken on my way to work this morning in a moving vehicle (I only dropped 3G one time and for one second and I commute from northern Ky to Sharonville and take 42 to avoid traffic)
    1.1101 D 375 u
    2.953 d 363 u
    3.924 d 375 u
    4.886 d 255 u
    5.841 D 373 u

This was taken on my Rooted Mytouch 3g running the latest Cyanogen Roms using the Speedtest.net app and the Cincinnati,OH Server.

I have a cliq and a Touch Pro2 with me as well and I am gonna test there speeds as well.
I will use the Speedtest app for the Cliq but anyone know if Windows Mobile has a Speedtest app?

I am also gonna tether to my laptop via my mytouch through Wifi Tethering and through USB tethering found in the latest Cyanogen Roms.

  • Davcole

On my phone it doesn’t state EDGE or 3g, however here in Cincinnati i’m getting reception speeds I wasn’t receiving before and getting reception indoors at work where i’ve not been able to pick up a signal. We must have gone 3g. I work near downtown.

  • Djkay

Yeah. Now I won’t have to switch to Verizon. Thank God. 3g in Cincy Yeah!

  • Chris

West Chester, Ohio is LIVE with 3G…. (probably from Cincinnati)..
