Touch Pro 2 Reviews Galore

250x270

The time has finally come to see some great reviews of the much anticipated (and frankly, past due) Windows Mobile device.  The Touch Pro 2 is hitting the shelves Wednesday August 12th and more people will be camping out for it than the iPhone 3GS (okay, maybe not).  Everyone’s favorite tech blogs (Engadget, Gizmodo, SlashGear and PhoneDog) have all had their time with the Touch Pro 2 and written typed out their opinions for all to ogle see.  It seems like everyone loves the keyboard (saying that it is one of the best, ever), the huge 3.6 inch WVGA touch screen, the speaker phone and TouchFlo 3D (honestly, who doesn’t? It hides Windows Mobile so well).  They didn’t like that there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack (an adapter is included), there is no UMA calling, HTC decided to make Internet Explorer the default browser (WHAT?! Opera Mobile is included, but kind of hidden, you should find it though), that it doesn’t have a capacitive touch screen (though the resistive touchscreen works beautifully) and that T-Mobile capped conference calling at three people.  There were mixed opinions on the size of the device; some are calling it bulky while others agree that it is manageable for a phone of its stature.  Still having mixed opinions on this device?  Check out the reviews for yourself, or go experience this phone at a local T-Mobile store, it is well worth it.  Oh, and two last things.  The Touch Pro 2 is on the website and will cost $550, um… $279.99? $349.99 with a two year contract and will have a full retail price of $213,487.23 $549.99.  Leave your celebratory comments, thoughts and opinions!  Official photos after the break (not like you didn’t know what it looked like already).

What they said ^^ i call t-mobile the other night before TP2 was release and ask them how much it will be and when it comes out and they didnt even know what the phone was..besides they kept trying to tell me and force me to buy the Mytouch3g and after i kept rejecting it they still try and push it off on me..and i call back today and ask about the TP2 again about the touch pro 2 and they still didn’t know what it was to i said HTC Touch Pro 2 and i ask about it and they just said it was touch screen! omg! how you suppose to have a good lullaby and make someone buy your product when all you can say over and over again is “its touch screen and it has 3g” oh yeah t-mobile that made me want to kiss you and hug you after that..they need to hire people that is tech smart..and even when i had bought my g1 they still didnt tell me nothing besides “this is touch screen!” as much as blogsites get bad info ill rather sit to them and forums atlest they know what they talking about

I just left T mobile the TP2 is $350 with a 2 yr contract & $280 for new customers. The data plan is required just like the G1 or the mytouch 3G here’s is the problem. For any reason you decide you don’t want the data plan no more it will forfeit your contract. So if you get this phone or any smartphone you have to have the data plan for 2yrs or pay the $200 cancellation fee unless you pay the full price of $550 you don’t have to get the data plan.So for me I left the store w/out the TP2 I’m a stay with my G1 until I can get this off ebay for a decent price.

  • WheresMy3g?

Still shows as $350 on the website. Anyone seeing anything different?

Truly Disgusted With T-Mobile for not only not advertising or promoting in order to push the horrible and ugly MyTouch 3G but also for the lack of intel they give their own reps regarding pricing and information. i’ve gotten all my information from blog sites and i seem to be teaching each representative more about their own equipments than I would like. I’m usually happy with t-mobile but this is getting on my last nerve.

  • Tmobile Customer

tmobile is being soo unorganized. Everyone saying different prices some reps not even knowing what the phone is. Im getting sick of all this. The phone wasn’t even advertised and its this popular. If tmobile had advertised this phone like the G1 or Mytouch 3G, the touch pro 2 would have gotten more sales than both these phones put together.

On The Phone With T-Mobile It’s Officially $350.00
    F*CK T-MOBILE!

  • P

Got mine this morning at 9am for $350. The store did not even know about the phone or the price of $280. I had to tell the guy to go check the inventory in the back and he should have 15 of them. That’s the intel I had received the night before at the same store from a different rep. They were surprised and impressed with the phone…very unprofessional on Tmo’s managementin my opinion. They said they would refund me the difference if the price drops to 279.99 today. We’ll see. Either way this thing is awesome. Perfect clarity. Full browsing. …I am hididng out in my cubicle all day and playing with this thing =)

  • Bai Shen

I just talked to CS, and they said it was 349, and they don’t know where the 280 came from that I was told this morning.

  • vwgtiron

i just tried to purchase this phone they offered it at 349. however i have been with tmobile 10 years now. i have purchased many phones from them. I am on a shadow right now actually. I asked to break this up into payments as times are tough. they told me i qualify for 100 in credit. WtF. when i asked why they told me when i originally signed up my credit was less than worthy. OK, i’ll give you that. now i own my house, my business our cars and my wifes business. we pay monthly around 175.00. have you checked my credit lately? they said no and they are unable to. I said what. they said i would have to leave tmobile and come back to get a new credit check done. i said are you kidding me, she said no. I said Sprint will have this phone in a month and i will be a new customer over there. she said good luck i said, talk to you in a month to cancel. have a good day. i would also like to refer people to semiaccurate.com and read about Charlie Demerjeran’s problems with tmobile and how they are breaking the law by charging him for calls made from a stolen phone, to other countries.

  • http://t-mbobile Jesse

Well I Called and gave them my point. explaining what i had been through as far as waiting for the phone and the incorrect info and they gave it to me @ $280.00 i’m truly a talented speaker lol. i’m happy. see u in three days Touch Pro 2…Bye Bye S*itty G1

  • Chris

So the Tmo twitter rep stated the $350 price is correct and the CSRs had bad info. Sorry everyone!

  • bryant

on the phone currently with a retention guy and he said i would get the phone for 270. how he did it was to credit me my one month of 80.00 WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!… i got my htc touch pro 2 yeeeeeeeeee!!! 270 plush shipping and upgrade fee waived… HELL YEAH… YMMV!!!!!!!

  • bryant

just told them that i was told many times last night that i was told that the price was 279.99 with two year contract. and he just offered me a months credit. talked to the retentions guy for about 5 minutes and handled everything from shipping to upgrade fee waived.

    today i got:
    49.99 600 monthly plan for 5 lines
    with myfaves
    unlimited n/w
    m2m
    9.99 grandfathered text
    extended 2 years
tmobile htc touch pro 2 for 270.00 upgrade and shipping fee waived
didnt even ask about the smarthphone data plan. because he said that my monthly plan is only 89.99 all together once i recieve my phone … im guessing that i dont have the data plan … lets wait and see

  • Teko

I’m guessing $349.99 is the real price, so much for $279.99, I chatted with a rep and he said $349 as well. Anyways, after an $18 “upgrade fee” (wtf?!), taxes & ground shipping the phone comes out to be $403.90. Seeing the total come out at over $400 makes this phone seem really over priced. The $18 upgrade fee….any one know what that crap is about? You save money by upgrading then they charge you for doing so!?

  • http://www.cnn.com Elrich

It’s all about the iPhone, baby! I am an Apple hater but the iPhone is winning me over. Can’t decide between the TP2 or the iPhone 3GS.

  • Yori

Called to check on a couple tmobiles local stores, 349.99 for 2 year and they have no clue about the 279.99 pricing.. but i showed him the 279.99 slide, and he says it looks legitimate from corporate tmobile… but would not offer it to me =/

i think ill just wait a couple days, these prices dont look too promising

  • Vic

I went to the Tmobile store and the rep said they won’t have it till the 15th. I wonder if he knew what the price were. I chatted with a rep and they said its $279.99 for 2 years and $329.99 for 1 year. And the price might come down a little later today after 10PST…its almost 3PM EST and in the upgrades page in mytmobile it still says $349.99. They probably haven’t update it yet.

    Man, HTC keeps outdoing themselves!

Very, very nice hardware. Too bad mobile phones aren’t like PCs – where you can pick your hardware, then choose your OS. I’ve recently switched from Windows Mobile to Android, and while Android has a way to go yet in terms of business use and features, it fits how I want to use my phone better.

I’d REALLY love to run it on the TP2 hardware though! :)

  • importsax

If you extend your contract through wirefly it is $229.99 plus free shipping. I’m thinking about ordering through them since T-mobile has no clue on the exact price.

  • dean

    http://www.cupofblog.com i have my touch pro 2 at $279.99

  • imjussayin

CAN THE PPL WHO ACTUALLY HAVE THE TP2 QUIT POSTING ONLY THAT THEY “GOT IT” BUT AT WHAT PRICE ALSO! please and thank you :)

  • http://hiphopvids.net nkog

ok so i goto my local tmobile store and they have nothing not even a demo. i just ordered it on the phone and got free shipping for them not having it. the price of the phone is 350 with a 2 year contract. i havent researched it yet but i dont think the phone comes with a memory card and for the price it definately should. not like i dont have a ton but the g1 and mytouch3g come with memory cards.

  • Joseph

see the video review of tmobile touch pro 2…there she says that the myfaves screen can be turned off to get to the calendar home screen…..haha

  • Jay

Has anyone tried buying their phones through Kiosks rather than the actual Tmobile store?

They are like vendors and are MUCH cheaper. 2 years ago I bought a Sidekick 3 at a Kiosk. At that time it retailed for $299 but I got mine for free WITH a $100 mail in rebate. 2 Year contract required of course.

  • AlexW

Just went to local store in seattle at 12pm PDT, they didn’t have it in, not even a demo. Quoted me 350.00. After seeing the 279.99 price bandied about, I’m not inclined to jump for 350.00. Will wait this one out, see if TMO get’s their S together. Embarrassing.

  • omar

Just ordered through the Loyalty department. 274.00 with tax free express ship and lowered my family time message to 9.99 for life !

  • Jay

My contract ends on the 25th so I’m actually going to visit my vendor this weekend to ask about the Touch Pro2. If anyone is interested I’ll let you know how much she quoted me.

  • Jeff

I walked into the T-Mobile store today and asked for the TP2. They pulled it out and told me $349.99 minus a $50 rebate. I was told about an $18 upgrade fee, which I apparently had to pay to have a two-year contract, which I was not terribly thrilled with. I was asked if I wanted to buy a carrying case, which I decided to do, and he charged me $29.99 when the box specifically said $24.99. His reasoning was “yeah, it isn’t right.” I decided to go through with it all in spite of it all and signed the paper. Then a co-worker came over and said “there’s no $50 rebate.” At that point, I said F-this, had them reverse the transaction and walked out.

I am blown away at how badly this whole TP2 thing has gone down with T-Mobile – its marketing, its education of its sales force, its product in comparison with what’s coming out for the other three carriers. I pretty much told the guy that AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint are going to have T-Mobile’s lunch on this product. It’s unfortunate. I want to remain loyal to T-Mobile, but this was screwed up.

  • Justin

I am making this post from my TP2 and it feels o so good. Just to let you all know that if you go to the store and tell them you were given the $279 price last night and to have them call customer care to confirm, you will get the discounted

  • Mike

Got mine today as well. Customer Service will not drop the phone price, but I was able to get the upgrade fee waived and I was also allowed to get the new data plan at the price of my old data plan, which is $19.95. It’s only saving me $5 per month, but over the two years it $120. Nice new phone with no change in my monthly bill.

The phone is awesome. I know I’ve only had it a few hours, but from what I have played with thus far it rocks.

  • Ricardo

pARTIAL PRICE OF 472 INCLUDING 18 DOLLAR UPGRADE FEE. Love this phone. When i get home i’ll download all the apps i need. Vlc especially.

  • Teko

I’m having NO LUCK with these reps on lowering the price, are you other guys seriously getting the phone for $279.99 with fee’s waived? If so thats so F – C K 3 D!!I have been with T-Mobile sine 2002 (only carrier I’ve ever had!!!) and this is just ridiculous. I’m going to try calling them next, chat gets you no where. :-/

  • Mike P.

Hmmm, so how come this is 199 (2yr) / 299 (upgrade) at both Letstalk and Wirefly?????

  • Debra

Those of you who were quoted the $279 by someone IN A STORE and you haven’t bought already, ask them to check with their regional Manager or whoever they report to for the $70 credit. I was told the $279 price yesterday by someone in a Phx area store and today they told me it was in error, just like the CSRep’s have changed their price since last night! He was nice enough to offer calling his Mgr and GOT ME THE $70 back in the way of a credit to my next months bill!!!!! Not sure if it has anything to do with being with them 10 yrs or not or if the Mgr was just a good guy! I hope T-mo gets LOTS of calls and letters from people about this price switch!!!! Squeaky wheels in action…. Good luck to the rest of you! I still have to pay the $349 now, but will look forward to the credit!

  • Lloyd

I have been looking forward to this phone for quite some time and am prepared to pay whatever the cost. But, I’m not stupid. I just placed my order at Wirefly for $229.99 (as an upgrade) and hopefully receive my phone in the next day or two. Obviously T-Mobile has seriously bungled the pricing on this. Nevertheless, like with anything shop around and find the best deal!

  • BoulderGuy

Any word on if this phone will be upgradable to 6.5 (whenever that releases..sigh). I really like this phone and just in time my Wing is starting to die. Just wondering if I should wait till we hear something about 6.5 and hopefully the prices would have dropped lower by then (or) should I bite the bullet and go for it now. Thoughts? Suggestions my friends?

  • http://WWW.MYSPACE.COM/ROCKSTARDRUMMER956 ROCKSTAR

i went today and they dont have them where i live yet…i went to 3 nearby cities and NOTHING!!! sucks huh haha…i saw the dummy model though and i LIKES~!!!!!

  • http://myspace.com/dreama dreama

    Im just not impressed.
I was so excited to get this, i went to the store and toyed with it for about a 1hr.
Pretty Laggy, unresponsive @ times, the Internet was pathetic and just didnt see the “Wow”. I thought baltimore had decent 3g coverage My Edge on my Sidekick was faster.

Maybe it was the stores versions that was screwed up.

So im just Gonna chill…and try a different store

  • Joel

all tmobile say you want to cancel (if youve been with them for 2+years) and theni got the phone for 349.99 full discount + 18 upgrade fee + 15 shippin and broken into installments 276.90 on the first bill and then 40 a month after that

  • Mike

I picked up my TP2 today as well. I contacted TMO’s CS from the parking lot prior to going into the retail store. They did not budge on the $349 price for the phone, but I was able to eliminate the upgrade fee. Next I negotiated the data plan price and subsequently got the required TP2 data plan at the price of my current data plan, which is $19.89. I know it’s only a savings of $5 per month, but it saves me over $120 during the 2 year contract. Hey if I get this great new phone at no additional price increase on my monthly bill, it’s all good. By the time I hung up with the CS rep and walked into the store my information and new plan was already in effect and all I had to do was pick up my phone which was on hold and waiting for me.

Now to the phone. It is awesome. I know I’ve only had it since noon CST, but from what I have played with thus far I love it. I know the $349 price is a big pill to swallow, but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.

  • FILA

Went to the T store today. Very nice phone, but rather heavy, and its quite noticeable too. The keyboard is beautiful and felt pretty good typing on it. I made about 2 mistakes on the keyboard but that was rather quick types. The physical keyboard will always beat my new onscreen, which i might add Im gettin better at it, but still a ways to go before Im a pro at it. Love the phone as anyone else does, just not diggin the WM, sorry. I need my app store, and I love Android! Leave this phone for you guys to battle over.

If your looking at buying this phone I highly suggest YOU WAIT a few weeks. The TP2 is coming out in about 3 weeks on AT&T and Im almost positive you will see this price decline. There just tryin to make as much profit right now since T is the only carrier in the US with this phone.

  • imjussayin

i’m still trying to understand the logic behind the TP2 lauch.

–tmobile goes thru the trouble of redesigning the TP2 (seemingly w/o any kind of consumer survey whatsoever)

–no marketing effort to speak of (thereby placing no inherent value in their product)

–and the coup de gras…a price point that would make Bill Gates flinch

I’m still on the fence b/c of the price but Tmobile’s line of thinking leads me to believe 1 plus 1 does not equal TP2……imjussayin

  • Coach D

I picked one up today with no commitment. The 2 year contract price was $350 in the store. This is a very nice phone but it had google maps 2.2 installed. I had to upgrade to 3.2. Telenav, Palringo, and Opera are already installed. This is definitely worth the money. Go out and put it on a payment plan.

  • bryant

just talk to retentions like i did. i told them that i called many time and they looked into that from all the call logs that i made for every single call i made. The retention guy told me the only way he would give me the discount was to credit my account for the next month i pay 80 bucks a month so he used that to drop the price which is pretty resonable and almost the same. I was also told by tmo reps at stores that i have been to and customer service reps from 611 that the phone was 279.99. Just let the retention people know that this was the price that was given to you days before it came out. my retention guy then added the free shipping and upgrade fee and added a whole grip of loyalty deals that i didnt even ask for. THE TOTAL PRICE OF THE PHONE WAS $270 before taxes. $10.00 less than the anticipated 279.99. Good luck to the rest.

go to slickdeals.net and search for some deals from tmobile that they offer
