Back in June, Touch Pro2 enthusiasts were greeted with a lengthy spec sheet which outlined the anticipated specs of the high end Windows Mobile phone. All was good. Now, a few more tidbits of information have made it into T-Mobile specs… if the new images are to be trusted, that is. For reference/comparison purposes, the previously posted specs can be found at the bottom of this posting.

Of note, battery life has increased on the newer spec list, increasing from 5.5 hours talk time and 8.3 days standby to 8 hours talk time and two weeks standby. We realize these are all relative to manufacturer testing, and real world use is actually a bit lower, but we’re all for better battery life! Interestingly enough, the device seems to be slightly bigger now than previous measurements, now weighing in at 4.59″ (L) x 2.36″ (W) x 0.68″ (T) vice the official spec sheet showing 4.19″ x 2.36″ x 0.67″, but the increase is quite minuscule (just thought we’d point it out!). Other items of note? 288mb RAM (Eat that, myTouch!), an actual mention of including autofocus on the camera as in the OEM version, 3.6″ screen (for those of you not 100% on that), and the inclusion of the Opera Mobile browser alongside IE 6.

Hey doesn’t the international version have a front camera for video conferencing?
Sounds like Mostly for the Better!
LEts Bring it SOon!
Slightly longer huh.. but is that 8hrs for 2G? it think so, and ~ 6hrs 3G
Cool phone…NO UMA.
The TP2 that I played with at the T-Mobile “Solutions” event had an auto-focus camera. T-Mobile also mentioned that it had Opera on it too.
What, no screen protector or mini-SD card in the included accessories?
Why does it matter what browser it includes, anyone who uses windows mobile knows nothing touches skyfire!
anyone know what “Gtalk” is? is dat google’s IM service?
These specs indicate support for up to a 32 GB microSD card. But in T-mobile’s own support videos linked on this site the host states that their is support for up to a 16GB microSD card. Wonder which is correct?
Btw if you are not sure which videos I am talking about, watch (or just fast forward to the end of) the myTouch 3G visual voice mail video. After the video ends there are links to 12 short Touch Pro 2 videos. Thanks to forum member MichaelN for pointing that out!
I’m ready for the TP2 my MDA just died this weekend and I have a full upgrade coming. Any rumors on a cost?
Woke up to 3G service in Cleveland Ohio this morning!! Yippee! Now my G1 can really perform
I meant to say this morning being Tuesday July 14th 5:30 am
Does this one support UMA??
You mean there was a time, before this leak, that people thought it was not going to have opera, or that it had less than 288 MB ram? Where did people get either of those ideas?
The original specs stated 256 MB of RAM. Not much of a difference. The extra part may be dedicated to the system and not available for program memory access any ways.
have been using the tp2 my work gave me for a few weeks now, and cannot wait to get one with 3g.
sorry.. i meant to say “slightly longer in dimensions huh.. wonder why”
@ MCBrian
ditto
Meant to say micro-SD card and not mini-SD.
Yup, Here’s the Euro specs.
Camera Main camera: 3.2 megapixel color camera with auto focus
Second camera: VGA CMOS color camera
Where the hell is the front camera on our model?
There is none, because (so I’ve heard) USA networks don’t support video calls.
In some of the other posts, $299 is mentioned as a rumor. I don’t believe that at all though, it’ll be more expensive than that (but I’m just a pessimist like that).
I noticed the Opera ICON in the programs on one of the video demos!
Cool!
If it’s microSDHC and meets the spec, why wouldn’t it support up to 32?
Not so far, according to there twitter rep
If you look at the EU version, the buttons are at the very bottom of the device. On the TMO version, there is space between the bottom of the buttons and the device. More ergonomic? Bigger battery? Who knows?
Is UMA free???
Agreed. The only thing stopping me from jumping on one of these on 12 August is the lack of UMA calling.
I’ve been predicting $399 with a 2-year contract, and $799 without contract.
It looks like the TMo version has more space below the buttons because the T-Mo version has a less-curved, sharper-edge top/front surface. The international version just has the top/front edge more curved over, so some of that excess space is gone.
UMA uses your standard minutes. just gives you more coverage. Now when you have the UMA calling feature or T-Mobile @home UMA calld DO NOT count toward your minutes. Hope this helped. And i dont know if you noticed on the other threads but my post are rich in typos. Dont care to proofread. SORRY. HAPPY SHOPPING XD
Yes you will be able to make UMA calls in your blackberry with the same sim card but data services will not be available on the blackberry because it uses two different data packages. Good question. Happy Talking.

Yes
I talked to worker at T-mobile and they told it it was going to 300 with contract upgrade.
The t-mobile rep I spoke with said 299 w/2yr
I’m bummed about no UMA. Does anyone know if I keep my old 8320 and move the SIM over to the TP2 when I get it (hopefully on 8/12), can I move my SIM back into the 8320 for UMA calls in a pinch?
I ask because I have the $49.99 unlimited minutes plan, so my UMA calls don’t cost me anything now (as they come out of the unlimited bucket of minutes).
