Nokia 5330 to T-mobile? Maybe!

5330

Nokia has unveiled three new handsets one of which according to the fine folks over at Mobileburn will release with two different bands of 3G flavors one of which is, wait for it…900/1700/2100MHz!! Hip Hip Hooray! Of course that’s not a direct guarantee of release by our dear Magenta but I think I can speak for the rest of you when I say even an unlocked choice would be most welcome. The sooner carriers start making unlocked phones in 1700/2100MHz frequencies the happier a lot of us will be. Expected in Q3 this year, we hope, if for no other reason than for the pure joy of knowing another 3G option exists on T-mobile, that this release hits US shores.

DOH! I was hoping for an AWS variant of the one with the slide out QWERTY board…….

oh well, I guess any new device supporting AWS is a good thing!

I’d see it comes as both branded and generic versions
    $200 is not bad though

  • RC

I would consider it if it were unlocked and had HSDPA instead of UMTS. But I understand that you can only expect so much for $200.

It’s a step in the right direction, though.

This phone reminds me of this phone i saw on BGR before coming to t-monews today.

And personally i think Nokia is trying to get their name more respected and known in the Western Hemisphere. I think this is good to have options but truthfully Nokia needs to make some heavy hitter phones if they want to get known and become a name that people don’t relate to with a dumb phone.

Just like RC said its a step in the right direction though.

Just put the damn AWS in N97 and see the sales go up and on top of that BestBuy will subsidze it.

    check nokiausa.com
if both 5330 (WCDMA I/IV/VIII & I/II/V) show up, get ready for your $200
I may get it, though I can live with basic UMTS (6263 can sustain slightly more than 400kbps, not bad)

not a really big fan of this design, I love you NOKIA but not this one
