San Francisco customers are some kind of lucky today!

img000531

Attention attention San Francisco residents who have not pre-ordered the G1, we have news for you! Sadly the news is only good if you live in that in the San Fran area as T-mobile has chosen the San Francisco store at 3rd and Market St to start selling G1′s a day early. You read that right, at 6pm local time (6pm PDT) you will be able able to purchase the G1 and be the envy of all your friends. We imagine that they have limited inventory and high demand so go early and go with a friend, the buddy system works better for bathroom breaks!

If you aren’t in San Francisco or have already received your pre-ordered phone, don’t worry because your wait only extends one more day. In the meantime, head over to the forums and try not to be jealous of everyone already showing their phones off.

  • Juan

To be completely honest, f*ck this.

  • Juan

But as always, appreciation to TmoNews for bringing me the latest news, good, bad and unfair! ;)

  • LipGloss666

Haha that store is a block and a half from my job. My G1 is already on out for delivery status. Yay!

  • Kevman420

    Isn’t san fran iphone country?
Hey does anyone know where pacman is?
San fran gonna be happy today!!!
    G1 ROCKS!!!

  • youngmiss156

@Kevman420 maybe they will add it back to the market tomorrow since people are receiving their phones early.

Mine is currently out for delivery as well…

  • WheresMyG1

Not fair…although my G1 is out for delivery. This sucks…if they didn’t pre-order & stalk, have a fatal attraction for, or sleep with someone from UPS like the rest of us, they shouldn’t have it today. Wait like everyone else.

  • Alex

Kevman— you have asked the same question probably around 123049210349783204729 times. CHILL OUT. Also, NO people dont know where comp@ss application is either. Jeez.

Those of you lucky folks who have the g1 already give us TMo people some feedback weather is bad or good don’t matter

  • T1 Connect

im not feeling the memory management on this phone

  • Macho

    What’s wrong with it T1?

  • Juan

I’m interested in hearing about that particular concern T1…i’ll search the forums and see if you’ve said anything. If not, please let us know here!

  • unknown

The phone is great. I’ve had it for a week now and it does everything I needed. Given that this phone doesn’t do everything you think. T1 is right. You can’t access the memory card files directly. You either view pics or exit pics program and start videos program etc. The delay of pic taking is like 3 to 4 seconds. When you end a call, the red button will most likely also lock the phone unintentionally. I still think this is the best phone I’ve ever had but getting used to the hardware and os takes a little bit of time. Everything is so new and it can take some getting used to. There are a lot of really cool features on this phone and as soon as I get my employee discounts again in 2 months I’m buying me the white one and I’m giving this one to my wife (I’m typing this message on my tanned g1).

  • T1 Connect

well the phone has a 8gig card in it and comes 71mb of free storage left after os install. i installed a couple of apps from the marketplace and noticed the memory went down to 45mb’s so i said to myself let me change the save location and thats not even an option so once again we’ve been dooped. called tmo about this ive been told the same thing from 3 different departments you cant change your storage location. that really pissed me off.

  • T1 Connect

i mean if were gonna have a bunch of apps shouldn’t there be more space to install them.

  • USCmed

Hey, everyone. As I patiently watch the street for the mere sound of a UPS truck coming, I was wondering if any of you who had the G1 needed to charge it first before using it or if the battery came “precharged”. Gracias.

  • unknown

@t1 there is a program on the wing that allows you to use the memory card as the phones default ram storage. I wouldn’t be suprised if there was a program released soon that allows us to save the programs on the memory card and allow for more memory management

  • mia

I just received mine….i am soo excited

  • T1 Connect

@unknown i know but i wanted it like right now im doing a lot of cutomizing and emulating over here and i need more space.

  • Macho

So far it looks like the g1 itsnt living up to the hype I’m still geting mine i just hope they fix that issue with the memory

  • http://jessesears.blogspot.com mrwindupbird

My tzones shut off today, w/o warning. You know, the 6 or 7 dollar intraweb that we have all flashed our phones to run Opera Mini on?

What is truly sad is that I am actually concerned about the success of my day with a “Packet Data Authorization Failed” staring at me out and about.

I think I need to jack out for a while…

  • Tmo Android

Guys give the phone a week or so. Its not even out yet so most developers haven’t been able to test anything yet. Google just released the source code for Android. Soon you will see custom cooked roms and the ability to store everything to the memory card.

    Be patient guys.

  • http://t.kevinluddy.com got it the 20th

I received the phone from UPS yesterday, and I have to agree with “unknown.” It takes some getting used to. I put a longer explanation (and very informal) here:

    http://t.kevinluddy.com/post/55635468/tmonews-blog-archive-san-francisco

Basically, depending on what you want in life, its the right phone for you. It’s email/PIM stuff falls is not quite blackberry at this point, but better than iphone. it’s UI/experience is better than blackberry, but no where near the iphone. its functionality for the tech saavy is better than blackberry and probably tied with the iphone at this point, but i’m guessing it will easily surpass the “app store” in short time. the back button seems to be a sorta global “go back to the last thing you were doing before you pressed this button,” which is super neat if you just did 4 things in 3 applications, etc.

overall i’m super impressed, but i should say i wasnt expecting much. my main reason for getting it is that i need something like the iphone but i dont want to stop using tmobile.

  • Kevman420

    @t1
i said all this yeterday and was told to take my meds by some smart arse.
i understand having to wait for apps but come on. memory and storge should not have to wait for this. its ridiculous that you cannot store to card. also not file management takes place only when hooked to pc. unless i cant find it. deleting mail from deleted folder is a one at a time process. this should not be. why cant i empty deleted folder all at once? or can i? the memory card issue is sad. egads!!!

  • Macho

@ T1 are you emulating video games? If so you have to show a dude how to do it lol

  • Kevman420

Does anyone else get 404 error after posting to blog from g1?

  • T1 Connect

@macho na i wouldn’t say its a letdown its off the meat rack tho. i like the way the phone moves its nice sleek and not as bulky as people say it is. interface is sweet, works pretty smooth and i didn’t even take off the front plastic yet. its a bit improvement from windows mobile 6.1. battery is very good for all the tasks it handles. and the os i awesome itself. the only issue i have with this phone is the storage location. besides that i think tmobile made a good investment for software 1.0 and htc did a marvelous job with a new design in mobile phones(dont let the images on the pc fool you on size)overall this phone has a lot of potential and is going places with a software polishing.

  • Kevman420

Can we all agree we like the phone but still have conversation about issues without anyone thinking we are hating this product? I know I am here cause its a great way fore us to collarberate on these areas of concern without being insulted.

  • T1 Connect

@macho me and my boys are trying to work out a thing but a lot of sites like androidguys and android community(no disrespect tmonews your the best)have software you can download.

  • Kevman420

I mean I have not put it down since I got it. I absolutely love it but would like to be able to blog improvements and such.

  • T1 Connect

@kevman420 yea but i understand why david wants us to use the forums for stuff like that its easier to post liks and stuff about that. and by the way do you love it. im absolutely loving it like a 10yr old at christmas right now. cant wait to see my boys lata and show them a real 3g connection on tmobiles network along with slimmer and smoother phone. yea ambience has stlye(ambience=my g1).

  • David

@T1, not to worry…we don’t have any interest in really creating an Android based market/platform as the other two sites you mentioned. This site will continue to focus on T-mobile related news so we’ll try and keep information regarding applications to a minimum though I’m sure we might feature a few once in a while perhaps in partnership with other sites.

  • Kevman420

    @t1
Thanks buddy I do understand too but I am merely posting like everyone else.

San francisco can wait till 6 if they want to but philly G1′s are rolling in every half hr. To 45 mins. I got mine at 2:06pm today and my friend got his at 1:22….I’m so glad I pre-ordered and had someone to wait for it, my mom said the packaging is kinda too bulky to leave on a door step discretely! Idk about everyone else but I’d be pissed to come wit my sexy new phone just sitting on the steps looking like a target!

  • dave

  • David

You want a phone review section? One is already there though I grant you its collecting cob-webs until we put it back into play? You want an Android application review section?

  • D

I love the G1, i have downloaded a bunch of different apps for it and I still have room for more. i would say it has lived up the hype, i have had it for a week now and its by far the best phone I have had since I have been with T-Mobile

  • T1 Connect

No not just a android review a everything review like a tell the readers and users what tmonews thinks and pardon me if you guys put one and I missed it but if u do do hit me off with a link

  • JBLmobileG1

I can’t wait to get my phone although I won’t be getting it till around November 10th. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t let you save onto an sd card though. It sorta reminds me of the nintendo Wii you can save but not play from an sd card but in this case you can’t even save to it(yet). Can you save your pictures to it atleast? Maybe the whole reason why you can’t store to the card is because of copyright. Maybe once the apps start costing money they don’t want people to trade from one G1 to another. Who knows.

  • T1 Connect

@g1 future owner no it came with a 1 gig and i bouht a 8 gig

heres some information for people switching from windows mobile to android. if you have a windows live account(hotmail, msn or live)you will not be able to loging through hotmail directly or throught the email in the phone you must got to mobile.msn.com and login through there.
